valor patrimonial líquido ajustado, do múltiplo do EBITDA, dos Free Cash Flow to Firm
A implementação do novo método permitiu adicionar à
também perceber se a rendibilidade dos capitais investidos previstos supera os seus custosThis internship report was done to obtain the master's degree in Management, addressing the
theme of companies valuation methods. This study was as main goal the purpose of defining
the value of a company by using 4 distinct valuation methods, understanding the differences
given by estimating the companies value. Therefore, another goal was considered, the
implementation of a new companies valuation method implemented in the evaluation
processes used in the hosting company.
To achieve these goals, the methodology use was a case study applied to a privately-held
Portuguese company, namely, a small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in which, her
core business is cork. This valuation was done with the intent of selling. Therefore, to
estimate the company value, there will be used valuation methods of his Adjusted Net Asset
Value, EBITDA Multiple, Free Cash Flow to Firm (FCFF) and the Economic Value Added
(EVA). This last one, corresponds to the new companies valuation method implemented in
the evaluation processes used in the hosting company.
Following the application of this case study, the company obtained an average value of
5 885 805€. After conducting this case study, was possible to understand that the estimated
value of the company by using the FCFF and the EVA methods is higher than the values
obtained through the other two methods. The implementation of this new method made it
possible to add to the valuation the perception of value added over time by the company,
bring to the light the possibility to understand if the expected profitability of invested capital
exceeds its costs
Industrial Robot Trajectory Generation and Execution for 3D Printing using an ABB IRB 1200
[Conference presentation]. INOV.AM International Conference – Shaping Tomorrow, November 27 and 28, Braga, Portugal: https://conference.inovam.pt/The use of industrial robots in additive manufacturing processes has become increasingly important, offering
more flexibility and the capability of multi-directional printing. This integration facilitates the production of more complex
geometries, free from the limitations of small build volumes and support structures, opening new possibilities for
innovation in advanced manufacturing systems. As the complexity of the printed structures grows, optimizing robot
trajectories is essential to ensure high-quality results. This work presents a comparative analysis of robot trajectory
generation and execution using ABB's 3D Printing Power Pack and generated RAPID coding in both simulated and
real environments. The objective is to assess the use of the Power Pack in term of trajectory accuracy and efficiency,
as well as how the simulated results compare with the real ones, considering the use-case of 3D printing.
To support this analysis, a "test pattern" was designed to account for different trajectories, consisting of a single line
extrusion path featuring long linear segments, corners, and curved sections. The path was converted into both G-code
and RAPID code. The G-code was first validated on a standard 3D printer and then used as input in the 3D Printing
Power Pack application to generate a RAPID program for the robot. Separately, another RAPID program was created
manually to execute the same path, based on the G-code. Both programs were executed on a simulated environment
in RobotStudio, and on an ABB IRB 1200 robot. Throughout the tests, the robot’s Tool Center Point (TCP) position
was captured using ABB’s Externally Guided Motion (EGM) application.02/C05-i01.01/2022.PC644865234-00000004info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Limestone Processing Sludge: From Waste to Sustainable Resource
The limestone quarrying and processing industry generates huge amounts of waste, with limestone sludge being one of the most prevalent and challenging by-products. This study aims to evaluate the potential of limestone sludge as a sustainable secondary raw material for the mechanochemical synthesis of bioceramics, specifically hydroxyapatite (HA), for high-added-value applications in bone tissue engineering. High-energy milling is innovatively used as the processing route: dry sludge (functioning as the calcium source), a phosphate source, and water were milled with the aim of producing calcium phosphates (in particular, hydroxyapatite) via mechanosynthesis. The industrial sludge was thoroughly analyzed for chemical composition, heavy metals, and mineral phases to ensure suitability for biomedical applications. The mixture of reagents was tailored to comply with Ca/P = 1.67 molar ratio. Milling was carried out at room temperature; the milling velocity was 600 rpm, and milling time ranged from 5 to 650 min. Characterization by XRD, Raman spectroscopy, and SEM confirmed the progressive transformation of calcite into hydroxyapatite through a metastable DCPD intermediate, following logarithmic reaction kinetics. The resulting powders are fine, homogeneous, and phase-pure, demonstrating that mechanosynthesis provides a low-cost and environmentally friendly pathway to convert limestone waste into functional bioceramic materials. This suggests that Moleanos sludge is a viable and sustainable source to produce tailored calcium phosphates and confirms mechanosynthesis as a cost-effective and reliable technology to activate the low-kinetics chemical reactions in the CaCO3-H3PO4–H2O system. This work highlights a novel circular economy approach for the valorization of industrial limestone sludge, turning a difficult waste stream into a high-value, sustainable resource. This work was funded by national funds through FCT—Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P., within the scope of the project UID/04292/MARE — Centro de Ciências do Mar e do

This document is an internship report that involved continuous work at Hotel Sa Bassa Rotja Ecoturisme from February to October of this year. The document mainly covers aspects related to the work carried out in the ecological garden between April and the end of September, although other tasks were also carried out.
The implementation of sustainable measures and practices in society's daily life is becoming increasingly necessary and urgent, especially in tourist environments, where waste production is very high, with CO2 emissions accounting for around 5% of the total and an increase of 135% expected by 2035.
Supporting the local economy by buying products from a nearby producer or even creating an ecological garden in a tourist environment are viable measures. These environmentally conscious measures have advantages for both the hotel and the tourist.
For these reasons, a small ecological garden was created, the objectives of which were to understand the monetary value that this garden can generate and how using the food from it for the hotel's own consumption can save money.
In this way, in addition to the monetary advantage, which could make it possible to invest the money generated in ecological utensils for the conservation of the small agricultural plot and the surrounding natural environment, it is possible to reduce the carbon footprint associated with the transport of goods.
With the implementation of the ecological garden, it is also possible to simultaneously carry out some promotional activities to make the tourist experience more memorable and authentic, so that there is an additional monetary return. The savings generated by the garden could also contribute to the conservation of the hotel's natural space, without jeopardising the environment

segura das tecnologias da Indústria 5.0.Industry 5.0 represents the next phase of industrial evolution, focusing on humanmachine
collaboration and advanced digital technologies. While these innovations
boost productivity and innovation, they also broaden the cyber threat landscape, raising
concerns about safety, data integrity, and privacy. Cyberattacks in such environments
can impact industrial assets, employees, and customers, underscoring the need
for robust cybersecurity.
This study explores the cybersecurity implications of Industry 5.0, aiming to standardise
its concept and propose a high-level framework to guide implementation. It
examines key cybersecurity domains-industrial communication protocols, asset inventory,
vulnerability management, threat intelligence, endpoint security, incident detection
and response, network segmentation, zero trust architecture, and least privilegeevaluating
their relevance and required adaptations in Industry 5.0 settings.
Challenges and adaptations are tested through a case study in the stone cutting
sector. Some of the findings were: an increase in cybersecurity costs, expansion of
threat vectors, and added complexity due to sustainability and human-centric ethics
goals of Industry 5.0. The created high-level framework is tested by making sure these
challenges are included in it, and by using it as a structured approach to implement Industry
5.0’s technologies present in the case study. The developed framework passed
the testing, while other frameworks lacked some key aspects. The work lays a foundation
for understanding cybersecurity in Industry 5.0 and offers a structured approach
for its implementation.
Future research directions include practical deployment of the framework and expansion
of the cybersecurity domains to include penetration testing and workforce
training. This is to address emerging risks and ensure secure integration of Industry
5.0 technologies

Forest protection and rural fire mitigation have been persistent challenges in Portugal, requiring an integrated and intersectoral approach to ensure the safety of populations, the preservation of ecosystems and the sustainability of the territory.
Forest fires, being natural phenomena aggravated by socioeconomic and environmental factors, represent a growing threat, highlighted by the tragic events of 2017, which triggered a deep reflection on the strategies adopted by the State to prevent and combat this type of occurrence. In this context, the concept of Human Security assumes particular relevance, reinforcing the need for public policies that not only combat fires, but also prevent their occurrence and guarantee the resilience of the affected territories.
The role of wildland fire crews has established itself as an essential element in the defense of the forest, acting not only in structural prevention and preventive silviculture, but also in supporting direct fire suppression and recovery of areas affected by fires.
This thesis aims to analyze the role of wildland fire crews as a tool of the State for the protection of forests, using the Intermunicipal Community of Oeste (OesteCIM) as a case study.
The research seeks to understand the relevance of this model in the context of public policies for civil protection and integrated management of rural fires, assessing its effectiveness and the challenges it faces in its implementation.
To this end, a review of the legislative framework and public policies associated with the prevention and suppression of forest fires in Portugal will be carried out, followed by a detailed analysis of the operationalization of intermunicipal brigades and their impact on mitigating the risk of rural fires.
In this way, this research will contribute to the understanding of the importance o wildland fire crews in the context of rural fire management in Portugal, highlighting good practices, challenges to be overcome and opportunities for strengthening the model, towards greater effectiveness in the protection of forests and rural communities

Here, a novel aquaponic system based on the African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) fed with 30% of yellow mealworms (YM) (Tenebrio molitor) as substitute feed to 100% of fish meal (FM) was employed to produce parsley (Petroselinum crispum) and pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium). The two systems implemented (30YW/70FM and 100FM - control) showed identical water quality parameters. The 30YW/70FM operation led to a reduction by 27% of the carbon footprint, relatively to the 100FM system. Plants cultivated in the 30YW/70FM aquaponic system led to lower plant biomass (↓∼75%), as stated by the statistically significant (p 7.0 g Cl.kg−1 for parsley and > 4.0 g Cl.kg−1 for pennyroyal, in dry weight) in the leaves and Cu and Mn accumulation in the roots (> 0.4 g.kg−1 in dry weight). The presence of high concentrations of Cl in T. molitor, and consequently in the water and fish faeces, might have caused some abiotic stress and toxicity to plant tissues, reducing plant growth.Authors thank the financial support of Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia FCT/MCTES to LSRE-LCM (10.54499/UIDB/50020/2020 and 10.54499/UIDP/50020/2020), ALiCE, (10.54499/LA/P/0045/2020), CQC-IMS (UID/00313/2023, 10.54499/UIDB/00313/2020 and 10.54499/UIDP/00313/2020), MARE (10.54499/UIDP/04292/2020

The development of high-precision plastic parts is a constant challenge in the automotive
industry, especially when it comes to optical components used in lighting and visibility
systems. This type of part requires rigorous dimensional and geometric quality control, since
any variation can have a significant impact on its optical performance.
This work addresses a real case of a company, a thick plastic optical lens, which presents
an unexpected depression resulting from a hot spot in the production process. This defect is
located on a functional face from an optical point of view that should have a high degree of
flatness, which, if not, could compromise the optical functionality of the lens.
Considering that the mould already exists, the most viable initial hypothesis to try to
overcome the problem would be to readjust the variables of the injection process, a solution
that was found to be insufficient to solve the problem, thus considering the reengineering of
the mould with the adoption of conformable cooling channels.
The initial approach, as well as the mould reengineering approach, was duly supported by
numerical simulation of the injection process, observing the boundary conditions, loads and
materials inherent to each approach.
The use of conformable channels is made possible by applying SLM technology to mould
inserts, whose production costs and lead time are analysed in detail to determine the break even point of their use
