Análise do reposicionamento do Restaurante The Poet - Relatório de estágio
This internship report explains and analyzes the repositioning strategy of The Poet, Renaissance Brussels Hotel’s restaurant, seeking to understand the impact of the changes implemented on the restaurant's performance. Based on a literature review on digital marketing, performance indicators and repositioning strategies, this report evaluates key restaurant and marketing performance indicators, such as coverage, revenue, average ticket, but also digital reach, conversion, public relations and service quality.
Empirical findings reveal greater digital reach and better website conversion rates, corroborating the literature. However, the data also indicates a decline in customer engagement, a lower average spend per customer, and a reduction in service quality, as reflected in online ratings. These results suggest that although the repositioning strategy attracted more customers, it did not translate into the expected increase in revenue or a better customer experience. The internship report discusses the implications of these mixed results and recommends future research directions, including exploring integrated marketing strategies, deeper analysis of customer segmentation and spending behavior, and the potential incorporation of immersive digital experiences
Today, many public sector organizations (central and local) are still very hierarchical and bureaucratic, which goes against the guidelines of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the European Union for states to modernize by introducing quality assessment structures in their services, bodies and institutions to reduce costs and provide better services to their citizens. Thus, in the context of Portuguese local public administration, the main objective of this study was to “Analyse Continuous Improvement Methodologies” and as a guiding principle for its development, we wanted to know how feasible it is to implement Continuous Improvement Methodologies in municipalities?
To this end, this paper carries out documentary research into the evolution of public governance models, local autonomy in Portugal and the main continuous improvement methodologies. To assess the feasibility of implementing Quality Management Systems (QMS) in local public administration, we looked at some texts with case studies on the implementation of QMS and analysed the results obtained through a questionnaire survey of 308 Portuguese municipalities, with the aim of understanding their reality in terms of quality. Finally, a practical guide to implementing total quality in a municipality is proposed.
From the case studies and the results obtained from the responses to the questionnaire, it can be concluded that quality management is globally accepted as crucial to the success of any organization. Despite this finding, only 34.8% of the responding municipalities have a QMS in place. The main obstacles to the implementation of a QMS are the low level of knowledge of both top management and other employees in terms of quality management; the accumulation of functions; the lack of training; the lack of identification with the service's objectives; the weak involvement of top management; and the lack of good examples to follow. It should also be noted that in municipalities with a QMS (except for a few cases), many of the fundamental principles of total quality management are not followed. As a result, it is understood that for most municipalities, quality is not a relevant issue or is at an incipient stage
The Last Whistle: Unveiling the Relationship between the Career Path and Retirement Age in Professional Soccer
This study explores the relationship between Career Indicators (CIs) and the retiring age of Portuguese soccer players, focusing on the impact of early career experiences and career discontinuation stages. Data were analyzed from retired Portuguese soccer players registered on a private digital platform, using specific CIs related to different stages of their athletic careers. The analysis involved a two-level mediation model incorporating various CIs. Significant direct effects emerged with ‘the number of seasons as a youth player’ and ‘the number of seasons as a youth player in top 3 clubs’ on ‘retiring age’. Additionally, a strong association was identified between ‘discontinuation stage length’ and ‘retiring age’. The findings emphasize the importance of effectively managing career discontinuation stages and proactive career planning. Consequently, comprehensive support programs offering resources and guidance for career transitions are recommended for soccer players. The study underlines the key role of stakeholders in enabling smoother transitions into retirement.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Nanocomposites from β-Pinene and α-Pinene Copolymer: Synthesis, Characterization, and Antioxidant Evaluation
Article number - 2378In this study, we present a novel and straightforward approach for the synthesis of copolymers and nanocomposites based on α- and β-pinene, employing an eco-friendly and cost-effective nano-reinforcing filler. The copolymers (α-co-β-P) were produced through cationic copolymerization, using AlCl3 as a catalyst. The structural characterization of the resulting copolymer was validated through FT-IR, 1H-NMR spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The molecular weight of the obtained polymer is determined by Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) analysis and is about 4500 g/mol. Nanocomposites (α-co-β-P/Clay 2, 5, 8, and 10% by weight of nano-clay) were synthesized by combining clay and α-co-β-P copolymer in solution using ultrasonic irradiation. This ultrasound-assisted method was employed to enhance and assess the structural, morphological, and thermal properties of the pure copolymer. The morphology of the resultant nanocomposites was characterized using infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) revealed that the nanocomposites exhibit a higher degradation temperature compared to the pure copolymer. The analyses provided evidence of the chemical modification of nano-clay layers and their uniform dispersion in the α-co-β-P copolymer matrix. Exfoliated structures were achieved for lower clay concentration (2% by weight), while intercalated structures and immiscible regions were observed for higher clay concentrations (5, 8, and 10% by weight). The antioxidant activity of α-pinene, β-pinene, and the obtained nanocomposites were studied using DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) as a model free-radical. The results demonstrate a significant antioxidant potential of the nanocomposites, showcasing their ability to effectively neutralize free-radicals. Finally, a novel procedure was devised for the rapid synthesis of copolymers and nanocomposites using α- and β-pinene.The work at CRAPC and LCP was supported by funding from (DGRSDT) Direction générale de la Recherche Scientifique et du développement Technologique-Algeria, and the work at CDRSP was supported by funding from the Portuguese Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) and Centro2020 though the Project Reference UID/Multi/04044/2019 and the bilateral program Green Thermosets

Prescribed Hospital Diet Influence on Dietary Intake of Hospitalised Patients: A Cross-Sectional Study
This article belongs to the Special Issue Hot Topics in Clinical Nutrition (3rd Edition)Article number - 261Background: The dietary intake of hospitalised patients is often compromised during hospitalisation, which can be a causal factor for hospital malnutrition. This is considered a public health problem worldwide and is associated with an increased risk of other complications. Objectives: Our objective was to determine the dietary intake of hospitalised individuals and if the prescribed diet influences it. Methods: Food intake data were collected from 299 lunches of patients admitted to a hospital, using the visual estimation method with a five-point scale. Three existing diets were considered, and the energy and macronutrient values of the meal were calculated. The minimum energy and protein requirements were also calculated. Results: The components of the tray with the highest intake were soup and dessert; no significant differences were found between the percentage intake of each element and the prescribed diet. More than 50% of the individuals did not meet their minimum energy requirements, and only 36.5% had a protein intake that was within the recommendations. Conclusions: Dietary intake is much lower than prescribed, and nutritionists need to act to reduce the prevalence of hospital malnutrition. This project was supported by FCT/MCTES UIDP/05608/2020 (https://doi.org/10.54499/UIDP/05608/2020) and UIDB/05608/2020 (https://doi.org/10.54499/UIDB/05608/2020)
