    イエナ・プランによる評価改革に関する研究 : イエナ大学附属学校における客観的報告と主観的報告に着目して

    No full text

Historical Development of Internationalization of Vietnamese Higher Education: Preliminary results from document content analysis

    No full text
Vietnam considers international integration as an inevitable trend of its higher education. Yet, there has been lacked a review investigating internationalization development of Vietnamese higher education. Therefore, this study explores the historical development of this phenomenon by considering its political and educational ideologies. This study analyzed three datasets: 362 educational regulations from the French colonial period, 520 issues of the Journal of Historical Studies, Vietnam (1956‒2019), and 26 regulations from 1998 to 2022. KHCoder was utilized for text analysis and visualization. The findings categorized the internationalization of Vietnamese higher education into five stages. The first two stages (1858–1985) were specific to North Vietnam, focusing on strengthening political ideology and sending students to socialist countries. The third stage (1986–1999) aimed to prepare national academics for connections with developed countries, involving increased international conference participation and research collaboration. The fourth stage (2000–2012) emphasized collaboration within Asia and reforming higher education governance. Finally, the fifth stage (2013–2024) focused on academic and economic competitiveness. Overall, the study reveals that the internationalization of higher education in Vietnam has been shaped by political, historical, and cultural factors, resulting in distinct strategies for each period

Supply Shocks in Global Value Chains and Export Performance: Evidence from Bangladesh Using Triple Difference-in-Differences

    No full text
In this paper, we evaluate how supply shocks in global value chains, such as the lockdown in China during the coronavirus pandemic, affected firm-product-level export performance in Bangladesh, which is a least-developed country where domestic inputs are inadequate due to capacity constraints. Transaction-level customs data on the universe of Bangladeshi apparel manufacturing firms are used in the analysis. We apply a triple difference-in-differences approach to compare the woven apparel exports of the firms that relied on China for inputs before and after the lockdown with those of knit apparel and firms that depended on the rest of the world as a comparison group. The results show that firms exposed to the Chinese input supply shock experienced a 36.5% decline in woven apparel exports after the lockdown. A plausible explanation for the decline in exports is the reduced shipment size driven by the constrained production capacity due to the shortage of inputs from China. We also find that exposed firms whose exports were highly concentrated in the European Union and the United States incurred an additional 18% decline compared to other firms

Real in virtual or virtual in real? Intersecting virtual and real experience in open-world video games and heritage tourism

    No full text
The increasing numbers of open-world games provide a sense of immersion, as if users were in a virtual world, by guaranteeing free movement within that world. One example is Ghost of Tsushima, a game developed by Sucker Punch Productions in the United States and released in 2020. The game was created by adding fictional elements to the historical facts surrounding the Mongol Empire’s invasion of the Japanese island of Tsushima in 1274. The developer implemented a virtual world as close as possible to the truth through thorough historical research into local records. This article aims to investigate the relationship and boundary between real and virtual tourism afforded by realistic virtual worlds, as well as provide a hybrid analysis of community discussions around Ghost of Tsushima on the social media forum Reddit. The community’s posts and comments suggest that the game cultivates a sense of immersion that can generate the desire to experience Tsushima, Japan in real life. However, this study also found that the game’s particular representations shape expectations in a way that influences the nature and extent of tourist initiatives

A new probabilistic long-period critical excitation procedure for isolated building structures

    No full text
The present paper develops a new procedure for finding the most unfavorable long-period excitation for isolated building structures based on the probabilistic critical excitation method. The upper bound of earthquake input energy per unit mass is considered the problem’s constraint, and a modified power spectral density (PSD) function is proposed to conform to the new constraint. It is shown that the new constraint can be used as a criterion to estimate the possible range of input energy of similar earthquakes. In addition, the new PSD function can control the excitation’s intensity. Finally, three base-isolated shear buildings modeled as multi degree of freedom systems with nonproportional damping are considered, and the critical excitations for each model are found based on the proposed method. To examine the reliability of the results, three actual accelerograms with a considerably high level of total input energy are selected as benchmarks and linear dynamic analyses are conducted using these accelerograms along with the generated critical excitations. The results show that the generated long-period excitations can better estimate the structural behavior (i.e., maximum displacement, drift, and absolute acceleration of stories) than the actual benchmark accelerograms

Dysmorphic megakaryocytes in TAFRO syndrome: A case series from a single institute

    No full text
TAFRO syndrome is a rare systemic inflammatory disorder of unknown etiology characterized by thrombocytopenia, anasarca, fever, reticulin myelofibrosis, renal dysfunction, and organomegaly. The diagnosis of TAFRO syndrome can be challenging; however, prompt diagnosis is vital because TAFRO syndrome is a progressive and life-threatening disease. We have showcased five patients with TAFRO syndrome who had similar bone marrow (BM) findings that could be considered the findings that characterize TAFRO syndrome. All patients were treated with corticosteroids and tocilizumab; three of the five patients (60 %) responded positively to the treatment. The unique BM findings observed in this study were megakaryocytes with distinct multinuclei and three-dimensional and indistinct bizarre nuclei (“dysmorphic megakaryocyte”), similar to the megakaryocyte morphology observed in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). Notably, dysmorphic megakaryocytes were observed in all five cases, whereas only two of the five patients tested positive for reticulin myelofibrosis, and three of the five patients had megakaryocytic hyperplasia, which are considered typical findings of TAFRO syndrome. Thus, the BM findings of dysmorphic megakaryocytes could help in the correct and immediate diagnosis of TAFRO syndrome. This work was supported in part by the Program of the Network-type Joint Usage/Research Center for Radiation Disaster Medical Science of Hiroshima University, Nagasaki University, and Fukushima Medical University (to TI)

On model selection consistency using a kick-one-out method for selecting response variables in high-dimensional multivariate linear regression

    No full text
This article deals with the selection of non redundant response variables in normality-assumed multivariate linear regression, where the redundancy of the response variables is defined by conditional expectation. A sufficient condition for model selection consistency is obtained using a kick-one-out method based on the generalized information criterion under a high-dimensional asymptotic framework such that the sample size tends to infinity and the number of response variables and explanatory variables does not exceed the sample size but may tend to infinity. A consistent kick-one-out method using the obtained condition is proposed. Simulation results show that the proposed method has a high probability of selecting true, non redundant variables
