No full textIn high school athletes, body composition plays a crucial role in both physical development and athletic performance. However, there is a lack of studies demonstrating a connection between sleep and body composition in high school athletes. The aim of this study was to assess the quantity and quality of sleep in high school athletes and explore its relationship with body composition. A cross-sectional analysis confirmed a correlation between sleep quality and body composition, but no such relationship was identified longitudinally. The findings suggest that sleep in high school athletes is partially linked to body composition, emphasizing the significance of adequate sleep

教育機会と学生への経済的支援制度に関する実証研究 : 効果検証と課題
No full textSince 2007, our team, comprising approximately 20 researchers, has been dedicated to the exploration of student financial aid systems. This collaborative effort has been made possible through Grants for Scientific Research from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and a project commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology. Over the years, our joint research has continued to evolve.
The primary focus of our study group lies in the comprehensive analysis of Japan's student aid system and a comparative study of student aid structures across different nations. Given the space constraints, these papers in Reviews in Higher Education focuses on recent research findings on Japan's student support system.
The included papers span a diverse range of themes, broadly categorized into the following five sections. The first theme addresses trends in student aid systems and governmental policies. The second theme explores the complex relationship between access to higher-level education of junior high and high school students and the corresponding financial support systems. The third theme involves an analysis of the interplay between student life and student financial aid. The fourth theme scrutinizes the perceptions of parents of junior high and high school students regarding student support and the associated financial burden. Finally, the fifth theme provides insights into how the media shapes its narrative around student support systems.
In this compilation, the papers collectively offer a multifaceted perspective on the student financial aid system, underscoring the expanding scope of our research. Google サイトを活用した小学校社会科学習材の開発 : 第3学年単元「山田錦物語」を事例として
No full text本研究の目的は，Googleサイトを活用した小学校社会科学習材を開発することである。小学校中学年社会科は「地域」が学習対象となる。しかし，多くの学校現場では教科書掲載の事例をそのまま授業で取り上げるなど，「地域」を学ばない地域学習が展開されている。その理由の1つとして，社会科副読本の内容が不十分な点がある。社会科副読本の内容が不十分な地方自治体や，社会科副読本が存在しない地方自治体では「地域」を学ぶことが困難な状況となっている。これらの課題を踏まえ，本研究ではGoogleサイトを活用した小学校社会科学習材の開発を行った。まず，先行研究を整理した後，Googleサイトを活用した小学校社会科学習材の特質や意義についての考察を行った。そして，第3学年単元「山田錦物語」を事例として，Googleサイトを活用した小学校社会科学習材を開発し，学習材を活用した授業実践の分析・検討を行った。The purpose of this study is to develop learning materials for elementary school social studies using Google sites. In the middle grades of elementary school, the subject of learning is “local area.” However, in many schools, there is the present condition that community is not learned. Many teachers take the case studies published in textbooks as they are. One of the reasons for this is that the contents of the social studies supplementary readers are insufficient. It is difficult to learn about the region in local governments where the contents of social studies supplementary readers are insufficient or where there are no such books. Based on these problems, we developed learning materials for elementary school social studies using Google sites, taking the 3rd grade unit “Yamada Nishiki Story (Story of the rice for Japanese sake)” as an example, and analyzed class practices using learning materials

No full textIn his famous essay ‘The Metaphysical Poets’, T. S. Eliot asserted that ‘a dissociation of sensibility’ had occurred during the seventeenth century, and that it ‘was aggravated by the influence of the two most powerful poets of the century, Milton and Dryden’. This paper argues that the second of Dryden’s two odes written for St. Cecilia’s Day provides a concrete piece of evidence for Eliot’s otherwise abstract assertion. In theory, if music be the food of love, that is, if it stimulates emotions, and if poetry conveys meanings, a happy marriage of music and poetry would generate what Eliot called ‘a direct sensuous apprehension of thought’. In practice, however, the ‘musical language’ of the poets may merely imply imitation of musical effects, thus disclosing the remoteness of true musicality.
The divorce of poetry and music could happen either when the words of a song acquired a dominant priority over music, as in the works of the Puritan poets like Milton who believed that the words should control emotions, or when instrumental music matured and became independent enough to be played in concerts and other public performances by professional virtuosi. After the Restoration, Dryden’s odes enjoyed the latter environment, and consequently, I argue, his ‘Alexander’s Feast’, set to music by great composers like Handel, shows an obvious reduction of the connectedness of music to particular words. Demonstrating that ‘Alexander’s Feast’ is a mock-heroic poem, this paper points out that so long as the listeners are pleasantly and swiftly carried away by the musical surface without sinking into the deeper level of ironic meanings, not only Timotheus and Cecilia, who ‘both divide the crown’ (168), but also Alexander could be genuine (as opposed to mock) heroes of this dramatic ode.本論文は，2023年10月29日に島根大学で開催された第75回日本英文学会中国・四国支部大会シンポジアム「英文学と音楽／音楽性」において報告した「『曖昧過ぎる正解も譜面にして』―ドライデンの頌歌について」を加筆修正したものである

No full textThe current study, following our previous paper, seeks to clarify the Tibetans’ comprehension of the Tibetan script and language, with a specific focus on the perspective of Si tu chos kyi ’byung gnas. This paper explores the theory of particles (tshig phrad) expounded in verses 9c–17a of Thu mi’s Sum cu pa. These particles encompass the la particles, genitive markers, ergative-instrumental markers, adjunctive-adversative particles (kyang, etc.), adjunctive-explicative particles (ste, etc.), disjunctive-andinterrogative conjunctions (gam, etc.), and ablative case markers.
Si tu was undeniably an innovative grammarian. His profound knowledge of Sanskrit grammar led him to formulate a unique system of Tibetan grammar, characterized not as descriptive but as normative grammar. Nevertheless, previous studies have not adequately examined Si tu’s originality as a commentator in interpreting individual verses in the Sum cu pa. This paper takes a closer look at verses 9c–11 of the Sum cu pa, revealing Si tu’s critical analysis and new interpretations, particularly based on his critique of Rnam gling pan. chen’s ideas.
As a result of our investigation, it becomes evident that Si tu’s new interpretations excel in many respects compared to previous ones. He was fully aware of problems in earlier interpretations, and concurrently, he strongly believed that the Sum cu pa was written in accordance with the scholar’s method of composition (mkhas pa’i bstan bcos kyi lugs). Ensuring that Thu mi’s statements in the Sum cu pa make sense and providing a rational interpretation are crucial principles in Si tu’s commentary.広島大学比較論理学プロジェクト研究センター研究成果報告書（2023年度
