Ethics and Virality Effects: Netnographic Study on Death-related Content from Communication and Da'wah Perspectives
This research examines the phenomenon of death-related content virality on social media through a case study of Stevie Agnecya’s death on TikTok, analyzing it from ethical, communication, and da’wah perspectives. Using a netnographic approach with Exolyt data scraping, it explores how death-related content goes viral and its implications for digital society, particularly in the Indonesian context. Analysis of TikTok data reveals that death-related content receives 2.5 times higher engagement than regular content, with 45% of comments questioning the cause of death, 40% expressing condolences, and 15% offering prayers and reflections. The study identifies three main factors driving virality: universal emotional resonance, collective meaning-making, and digital mourning needs. It uncovers complex interactions between traditional beliefs, religious values, and digital culture, exemplified by discussions around santet (black magic), religious judgment, and the concept of continuous sin/merit (dosa jariyah) in digital spaces. The findings highlight the transformation of mourning practices in the digital era, where private grief becomes public discourse. This study provides insights for communication practitioners, religious leaders, and platform policymakers in navigating the complexities of digital mourning practices
Lampung Is Islam, Islam Is Lampung: Tracing the Roots of Identity and Religious Tolerance in Bandar Lampung
This study investigates the dynamics of religion in Bandar Lampung City, with a particular focus on the interaction between religion, tradition, and identity within the context of Indonesian urban society. Through a qualitative approach, this study analyzes three main aspects: the socio-religious structure, the role of mosques as discourse spaces, and the centrality of the Qur’an in the daily lives of Muslim communities. Observations and in-depth interviews were conducted in three main mosques in the city: the Al-Furqan Grand Mosque, the Al-Abror Grand Mosque, and the Taqwa Grand Mosque. The results show that religion, especially Islam, has become an integral part of the identity of the Lampung community. Despite internal diversity within the Muslim community, harmony among the people is maintained. The analysis of the three main mosques reveals differences in the tendencies of religious ideologies and discourses, which are influenced by historical background, organizational affiliation, and socio-political context. This study also finds the central role of the Qur’an in daily religious practices, a testament to the respect and appreciation for religious texts in the Muslim community. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the complexity and dynamics of religiosity in contemporary urban Indonesian society, highlighting how religious values adapt and transform in the context of modernity while maintaining their role as social and cultural foundations

The Effectiveness of a Client-centered Therapy Approach in Increasing Self-awareness in Grade VII Students
The capacity for self-awareness is widely regarded as a fundamental attribute that all individuals, and particularly students as learners, should possess. Selfawareness, frequently designated as self-consciousness, represents the extent to which an individual is willing to acknowledge their own identity and comprehend their capabilities. However, at MTs N 4 Lampung Selatan, there are students who lack an understanding of their own condition, emotions, and abilities. Therefore, there is a need to enhance self-awareness through counseling, utilizing a client-centered therapy approach. The objective of this research is to ascertain the efficacy of counseling with a client-centered therapy approach in enhancing self-awareness among seventh-grade students at MTs N 4 Lampung Selatan. This research employs a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test-post-test format. The population under investigation comprises all seventh-grade students, amounting to a total of 115 individuals. A sample of 35 was selected using a cluster random sampling technique. The data collection techniques employed include questionnaires, observation, interviews, and documentation, and the data analysis techniques are normality tests and t-tests, while the N-gain score test is used to quantify the magnitude of improvement. The findings of the research indicate a discernible difference in the level of self-awareness among students before and after receiving client-centered therapy counseling. Subsequently, a t-test was conducted, yielding a significance value of P = 0.001, which is less than alpha 0.05. The calculated value of t is greater than the t table value of -23.246, indicating that the hypothesis is accepted. With an N-Gain test criteria of 0.55, the results indicate that the treatment has a moderate effectiveness with a significant but not high increase. This suggests that the provision of client-centered therapy has resulted in a notable improvement in self-awareness, although not to the fullest extent. It can be concluded that counseling with client-centered therapy is an effective approach in enhancing the self-awareness of seventh-grade students at MTs N 4 Lampung Selatan
Influence of the Level of Religiosity on Career Decision Making Among Muslim Students
This research aims to examine the extent to which the level of religiosity influences Muslim students’ career decision-making abilities. A total of 405 UIN Raden Intan Lampung students were randomly selected as research samples. Data were collected using the Centrality of Religiosity scale (CRS) and Career Decision Self-Efficacy Scale-Short Form (CDSES-SF). Data analysis using simple linear regression shows that there is a significant positive relationship between religiosity and career decision making (r = 0.540, P < 0.001). These results indicate that the higher a person’s level of religiosity, the higher the level of career decision-making ability of Muslim students. These findings provide important implications for educational counselors to develop more effective career counseling programs by integrating religious values in the decision-making process
The Use of AREL Argumentation Strategy in Da'wah Training for Students of Al Kautsar
This study was conducted based on the problem of the less than optimal preaching ability of students at Al Kautsar High School, Bandar Lampung. TConsidering that Al Kautsar High School, Bandar Lampung is a high school that is oriented towards religious and academic-based education, so that the instillation of preaching abilities must be given to its students. This study aims to describe the implementation of preaching training using the AREL (assertion, reason, evidence, link back) argumentation strategy for these students. After the preaching training was carried out using the AREL argumentation strategy, students were able to deliver preaching with good content, persuasive delivery, and a duration of more than 5 minutes. The conclusion of this study shows that preaching training using the AREL argumentation strategy for students at Al Kautsar High School can improve students’ preaching skills
Youth in Pentahelix Collaboration Towards a Smart Village
The industrial revolution 4.0 has triggered significant changes in various sectors, including at the rural level. One response to these changes is the implementation of the Smart Village concept, which emphasizes information technology-based village governance. Realizing a smart village requires human resources with specific skills, which are often difficult to find in villages. Therefore, the involvement of various actors through the pentahelix collaboration scheme, which includes the government, academia, businesses, the community, and the media, is crucial. Youth, as the digital native generation, have a central role in driving this transformation. This research aims to analyze how a pentahelix collaboration works in the development of a smart village in Bira Village, Indonesia, as well as explore the role of youth in the collaboration. Bira Village was chosen as the research location because it has undergone a digitalization process over the past few years. The method used was descriptive qualitative, with interviews and document studies as the main techniques of data collection. The research adopted a framework that includes six smart village dimensions, namely smart people, smart economy, smart environment, smart governance, smart mobility, and smart living, to achieve the research objectives. The results show that a pentahelix collaboration is strongest in the smart people and smart economy dimensions. In other dimensions, collaboration does exist, but it does not optimally involve all stakeholders. The role of youth is highly visible in the smart people, smart governance, and smart economy dimensions, but less prominent in the other dimensions
Strengthening the Merit System in Accelerating Bureaucratic Reform in Tangerang Regency
Bureaucratic reform is a key innovation aimed at enhancing efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability in government operations. A critical component of this reform is the merit system index, which serves as one of the key indicators in evaluating the success of general bureaucratic reform. This study aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the merit system assessment indicators in Tangerang Regency, Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach and the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) method, the research investigates the underlying causes of challenges in implementing the merit system. The findings reveal that a major issue in strengthening the merit system lies in the continued occurrence of promotions that are not based on competence and performance. To address this issue, a SWOT analysis was conducted to identify opportunities and formulate action plans for improvement. The study proposes integrating a Career Pattern System based on job competency development needs as part of the bureaucratic reform roadmap to reinforce the merit-based system
