    No full text
This study was motivated by the researcher’s concern for new students vulnerability to academic stress. This is due to changes in learning patterns between school and college, starting from different levels of difficulty of assignments from lecturers, new environments, and speaking in front of the class during presentations. Thus, this study aims to determine the effectiveness of dzikr relaxation therapy in an effort to reduce the academic stress of students majoring in Islamic Guidance and Counseling at the State Islamic University of Mataram. This study uses a quantitative approach with a simple linear regression analysis technique. Data collection in the study was carried out using the questionnaire and documentation methods with a population of 159 research subjects. Then, a sample of 80 people (50%) was chosen. The results of data processing indicate that the dhikr relaxation variable has a relationship with the student academic stress variable with an r-value of 0.799, classified as very strong and positive. The R squared correlation coefficient of 75.8% shows the contribution contributed by X to Y. So, the results of the study obtained after the F test using SPSS showed that dhikr relaxation reduces students’ academic stress with a value of F_count = 43.540> F_table = 3.96. With a significant probability of Sig. = 0.00> α = 0.05, which means Hα is accepted, and H0 is rejected. This means there is a considerable influence on the provision of dhikr relaxation therapy in reducing students’ academic stress

The Resilience of Local Religious Leaders in Maintaining Harmony: Anthropology of Communication Perspective

    No full text
The existence of local religious leaders has undoubtedly played a determinant role in maintaining harmonious life of a community. However, the challenges they face are immensely dynamic and intricate. This research thus aims to explore the extent of the influence of local religious leaders, particularly their communication patterns, in dealing with social and religious contentions which frequently emerge. This research is carried out in the three selected villages in the South Lampung Regency, namely Sumur Kumbang (mostly Sundanese), Sukabakti (mostly Javanese) and Balinuraga (mostly Balinese) where people there have diverse ethnics, religions, and cultures. It employs the descriptive-qualitative method by which data is collected through observations, depth-interviews, and from relevant resources. Aubrey B Fisher’s concept of The Four Perspectives of Human Communication and Stephen W Littlejohn and Kathy Domenicy’s theory in The Communication Ecosystem are much explored as the theoretical lens. This research consequently shows that each local religious leader from each village has different perspectives and patterns of communication in dealing with social and religious issues, and such differences are influenced by some factors such as the innate characters, similarities in beliefs and consideration of the existing political opportunity structure

Understanding Childlessness: Islamic Law Perspective Involving a Social Media Influencer and Their Impacts

    No full text
Although having children is generally viewed as one of the most important tasks of adult relationships, particularly marriage, birth rates in Indonesia have been progressively decreasing in recent years. Some studies relate this tendency to the success of the government’s Keluarga Berencana (KB) family planning program, the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has resulted in childbearing delays, and a broader trend of sexual recession. A particularly noteworthy and contentious feature of this reduction is the growing acceptance of a childless lifestyle influenced by some particular social media influencers, which contradicts traditional norms of society. This paper aims to explore the childlessness phenomenon through the lens of Islamic law, with a specific focus on Indonesia. By employing a literature research methodology, we examine religious texts, scholarly interpretations, and existing studies on demographic trends and cultural shifts. The research delves into how Islamic jurisprudence views the decision to remain childfree and how these views are reconciled with the changing societal attitudes in Indonesia. Our findings suggest that while the concept of being childfree is gaining visibility, it remains contentious within the context of Islamic teachings, which traditionally emphasize procreation. This paper contributes to the ongoing discourse by providing a nuanced analysis of how Islamic law interprets childfree decisions and the potential implications for Indonesian society

    No full text
This research article aims to determine women’s empowerment through MSMEs to overcome poverty in Kupang Regency, and strategies to overcome factors that hinder the effectiveness of empowerment. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection methods through structured interviews, FGDs, and secondary data documentation. The results of the study indicate that 1) Women’s empowerment by the local government through MSMEs has not fully met the expectations of weavers because local government intervention is still limited. 2) The causes of this failure are economic factors and low competency development. 3) The strategy is directed at strengthening capital, developing expertise in information technology, improving product quality, and marketing. These efforts are carried out through management and access to capital, technical guidance, and supervision of the quality of woven products. For this reason, collaboration is needed between local governments, craftsmen, and cooperatives/private parties in encouraging increased productivity, product quality, and marketing. The role of local governments is very important in facilitating craftsmen through empowerment policies that are relevant to their needs and expectations, and encouraging the private sector/cooperatives to support local government policies to improve the welfare of weavers. Further research is needed on the implementation of empowerment policies that involve all stakeholders

    No full text
The 2023 Village Development Index (IDM) indicates that 4,382 villages in Indonesia remain underdeveloped. Strengthening the capacity of village apparatus is crucial to fostering sustainable development and achieving independent and innovative villages. This study analyzes the capacity of village apparatus in underdeveloped villages and formulates strategies to enhance their effectiveness in the Pandeglang Regency. A qualitative research approach was employed, utilizing the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method, and data were collected through observation, document review, and discussions with selected informants. The findings reveal that efforts to develop the competence and capacity of village apparatus remain suboptimal. Technical training does not fully address managerial and technical competency needs due to the absence of a clear competency framework. Additionally, limited initiative from village governments further hampers capacity-building efforts. To address these challenges, this study recommends the adoption of collaborative governance for more effective training, the implementation of Training Needs Analysis to align training programs with village apparatus needs, and the promotion of training programs by relevant ministries to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the village level
