Application of Embroidery and Beading Techniques to Woven Fabrics Lurik with Gunungan Motifs on Fashion Products

    No full text
Embellishment is a technique of decorating the fabric’s surface that is usually applied to the product to make it look more attractive or beautify its fashion. Embellishment techniques are often used in embroidery and beading. The material used in this technique is usually just thread embroidery and uses various types of plastic beads, sequins, glass, and natural materials such as stones and shells. In the 15th century in Byzantium, art embroidery was something luxurious, so only certain people could afford it. In Indonesia, the beading technique is used as a decorative object in clothing that supports the interests of customs. Indonesia also has traditional woven fabrics and shadow puppets that are considered ancient because they have existed since the royal era. The woven fabric is Lurik Woven Fabric. Combining techniques of embroidery and beading on Lurik Woven Cloth by taking inspiration from Gunungan wayang kulit and using it as an embellishment on the product can provide a 3-dimensional effect and will present embellishment which is more modern and can be used in the long-term (sustainable). So, there is also novelty starting from traditional Indonesian fabrics and techniques of embellishment. In this research, we will develop more optimally regarding applying Lurik Woven Fabrics as the basis of the technique embroidery and then add technique beading as embellishment on the product fashion. This study uses qualitative methods, such as literature studies, interviews, field observations, and exploratory experiments. The results of this study were in the form of an exploration of technical experiments in embroidery and beading by adding Lurik Woven Fabric material to embellishment on the product fashion. Keywords: beading, embellishment, embroidery, Gunungan, Lurik Woven fabric, product fashio

The traditional houses of Indonesia are known for their unique architectural designs and interior decorations. One such example is that of the ancient Bolon houses, which refers to an Indonesian traditional house that is built on stilts and has a distinctive structure. However, due to the constant technological advancements of this era, most of the public tends to lean toward the current trend of modern interior design. The Modern Industrial style refers to a residential housing style that is widely admired by the public for its distinctive characteristics, namely the exposed materials utilized. DPCX Framework: A Theoretical Foundation for Building a Didactic Online Course in Design Education

    No full text
Design education emphasizes learning activities through exercises of sense, logic, and motor skills to create critical and creative individuals with artistic appreciation. Traditionally, design education is mostly conducted through face-to-face consultation and discussion to grasp undefined and uncommunicated tacit knowledge. Technological developments have led to societal changes that affect human learning patterns and online learning growth. This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of online learning design courses. Theoretical reviews are used to understand the theoretical foundations of education, design education, online learning, and learning interactivity. This study introduces the didactic-pedagogical-contentcontext (DPCX) knowledge framework for online design courses. The framework was developed from the Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge (TPCK) model to explain the content, pedagogical, and contextual elements of the design discipline applied to online learning. Design lecturers can use this framework as a guide to determine the combination of material content, pedagogy, and contextual materials in online learning. These findings and recommendations can also contribute to policymakers designing education in general. Keywords: design education, online learning, learning interactivity, DPCX, TPC

    No full text
The simultaneous legislative elections and regional elections (pilkada) in Indonesia, in 2024, present significant challenges related to voter behavior, including the occurrence of voter fatigue, coattail effect, and political polarization. Voter fatigue can negatively impact participation and the quality of elections, while the coattail effect influences election outcomes at the legislative and local levels. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, including voters, election organizers, political experts, and an analysis of documents related to the elections. Data were analyzed using thematic techniques to identify patterns related to the phenomena under investigation. The findings indicate that voter fatigue negatively affects voter participation, leading to a decrease in votes and the quality of decision making. Additionally, the study shows that the coattail effect of presidential candidates significantly influences legislative and local election outcomes. Meanwhile, political polarization is rising, resulting in social tensions among voters with differing political views. These findings suggest that simultaneous elections can create complex challenges in the context of Indonesian democracy. Voter fatigue and political polarization must to be primary concerns for election organizers and policymakers to ensure better participation and sustainable political stability
