In this paper some difficulties associated with dyscalculia and dyslexia are examined. Several of these difficulties depend either on mnemo-nic problems or on lateralization defects. Here some suggestions in order to weaken them are propose

Finite Geometries: a tool for better understanding of Euclidean Geometry

    No full text
An effective tool to really understand Euclidean geometry is the study of alternative models and their applications. In fact, they allow you to understand the real extent of various axioms that, when viewed from the Euclidean geometry, seem obvious or even unnecessary. The work begins with a review of Hilbert's axiomatic, starting from more general point of view adopted by Albrecht Beutelspacher and Ute Rosenbaum in their book on the fundamentals of general projective geometry (1998), defined by a system of incidence axioms.

The contribution intends to illustrate the possible role of the mathematics games as stimulus to didactics, in order to make the students interested in non standard “mathematical” situations, with the aim to facilitate the approach through problems to the learning of the subject

    The Epistemological Dimensions of Pedagogy

Pedagogic epistemology, as an autonomous philosophical subject, studies the development of knowledge in general. As subject applied in the domain of education science it has as specific aim the study of pedagogical knowledge, the manner in which the fundamental concepts in the domain of educational theory, training theory, curriculum theory, are built. The main aim of epistemology is to think critically about pedagogy, the research from the domain of education, training and curriculum. The part of pedagogic epistemology – as critic and problematic thinking – is to give to pedagogy that gnosiologic and heuristic aspect which confers to its ontological, methodological and normative step status of science

A magical way for educatıon: visual literacy

“Visual literacy is education that enhances understanding of the role and function of images in representation and communication, especially in the media.” (Newfield 2011:82). Debes (1969:27) said that; “ Visual Literacy refers to a group of vision-competences a human being can develop by seeing and at the same time having and integrating other sensory experiences.” Education of visual literacy is important for understanding of true meaning of messages in visual elements. Hobbs (2002 cited from Shurtleff 2006:13) claimed, “Epicureans believed that, in fact, the mind cannot think without images.” Samuels and Samuels (1975 cited from Shurtleff 2006:13) also claimed “the archeological record reveals that the first expressions of thougt are visual, not vocal”. In our daily life, visual technology and media literacy has become increasingly popular in our world. We use when we give information, from websites, give PowerPoint presentations, and sketch on Smartboards to get our memories, ideas across. Teenagers, who have come of age in a technological world , they must learn how they can use visual literacy.Teachers should use, in our age, video games, eager consumers of graphic novels, illustrations, photos, diagrams, graphs, symbols, icons and other visual representations

For an interactive reading of the territory and the city spaces, relationships, urban morphology, cultural patterns and forms of economic and political power

In  this paper we emphasize the need for a multidisciplinary approach to support the urban and territorial research;  it can contribute to the knowledge of the area and city with the aim of direct transformations and future development. Therefore, we need to acquire sophisticated tools and talk simpler language and insightful in order to respond to the social demand for local knowledge. We have to study a new paradigm to understand social phenomena; the old perspectives of urban sociology, but also planning and analysis of territorial systems, is today replaced by an integrated view in which we do not evaluate and not only analyze the more specific objects of the individual disciplines but a number of variables and components in synergy.

    The loxodromic curves in Architecture

    No full text
In this paper the authors explain the geometrical properties of the loxodromic curves and show how their properties have been used in many architectural works. For this reason, we will show several examples of architectures in which the bricks, which form these constructions, are arranged along some loxodromic curves. This fact is not surprising since, as we shall see, these lines are identified by a rule that makes it easy their determination during application and useful their use. Meridiani. Paralleli. Proiezione stereografica. Equazione polare. Cilindri circolari ed ellittici

Tradition and Modernity: Working Culture in the Western Model and Japanese Model, as an Expression of a Cultural Models. A First Reading

In this short article, I'll leave the application of cultural models (in the West and in Japan), which define and construct a new reality (linguistic, cultural, social, work). Through this first reading will redefine better the cultural aspect of both worlds and you will better understand the similarities and differences between the Western model (even for the synthesis made by Adriano Olivetti) and the Japanese model (which is not only a way of producing, but also is a cultural expression)
