The Malaysian Parliament has passed special legislation, the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (Act 792). The Guidelines and the Rules of the POCSO Act 2012 provide detailed guidance on the procedure for the necessary protection of the child victim as well as a child witness to the authorities involved. The Guidelines are a very good start and it is recommended to the Legislature conduct further research with respect to the Guidelines and consider it to be promoted into a full-fledged regulation with proposed modifications attached to Act 792 to infuse it with more binding force and pro-active measures rather than reactive
Critical Analyse of the Exceptions in Resorting to Restorative Justice When Children Come into Conflict with the Law
As the child justice system continues to evolve and the development of Children’s rights, there is a growing recognition of the need to address child offenders differently from adult offenders. Restorative justice has emerged as a promising approach to address the unique needs and circumstances of juvenile offenders, aiming to rehabilitate rather than solely punish. However, this research delves into the limitations and exceptions that may hinder the application of restorative justice in cases involving child offenders. The primary objective is to analyse the factors that influence the decision to deviate from restorative justice principles in children cases, which includes the severity of the offense; the age, maturity and attitude for guilty of the child; the times of committing offences of the child; the victim's perspective, and legal frameworks. By exploring these exceptions, the study aims to provide insights into the challenges and complexities that arise when applying restorative justice in child justice systems. Furthermore, the research employs a qualitative approach, involving a thorough review of legal provisions, case studies, and relevant literature to critically analyse the nuances of exceptions in restorative justice for children in conflict with the law. The findings contribute to the ongoing discourse surrounding the appropriate and effective use of restorative justice in juvenile cases, shedding light on when and why exceptions may be necessary. Ultimately, this paper serves as a valuable resource for policymakers, law enforcement officers, and researchers in the field of juvenile justice, offering a deeper understanding of the complexities inherent in implementing restorative justice in the child justice system

Application of Multiple Linear Regression on Factors Affecting the Acceptance of Financial Technology Among UiTM Students
Financial technology, also referred to as "FinTech," is a term used to describe emerging technology that aims to enhance and automate the provision of financial services. In this research, the focus was on cryptocurrencies, non-fungible tokens (NFT), and metaverses that are considered part of the fintech industry, as they all involve technology to facilitate financial transactions and interactions. The insufficiency of quantitative academic literature on the factor influencing students’ acceptance of financial technologies resulting to have uncertainty on the local degree student’s attitudes and perceptions towards these emerging technologies. The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing the acceptance of financial technologies. A stratified sampling technique was utilized and 329 respondents were selected. This study used primary data which is by distributing the questionnaire in Google Form and the link was sent out via WhatsApp to collect the data. The independent t- test, one way ANOVA and multiple linear regression were applied in this study. The result of T-test indicates that the male students had higher mean value than female students in accepting the financial technology. Meanwhile, based on ANOVA, there was a significant mean difference in fintech acceptance between programmes. Hence, by using multiple linear regression, the significant factors influencing the acceptance of financial technologies were knowledge, openness, and social influences. It is recommended that future researchers study other areas of Fintech, like blockchain, to gain a better understanding of Fintech as a whole
Non-Native Speakers’ Perception and Motivation for Learning English Language through Movies
The global dominance of the English language has motivated individuals whose first language is not English to actively pursue fluency in English. For non-native speakers of English, acquiring the language is an intricate journey that demands substantial time and effort, accompanied by a range of challenges. In recent years, English movies have emerged as captivating tools for language learning, effectively aiding in enhancing vocabulary and essential language skills. These insights stem from past research that studied how non-native speakers learn English through movies. However, despite the valuable findings from these studies, there remains a discernible gap in our understanding of this field. In addressing this gap, the current study intended to investigate the perception and motivation of non-native speakers in learning English through movies. The study collected data by conducting surveys among non-native English speakers who were undergraduate students at a local public university. The findings revealed that these non-native speakers favour using movies as a method for learning English as a second language, and this medium enhances their motivation to learn. Building upon the existing foundation of research, this study significantly contributes to the body of knowledge by addressing the substantial research gap that exists in comprehending non-native speakers' perspectives on learning the English language through the medium of movies
Behind the Choices: Loss Aversion's Impact on Students' Course Selection
This study investigates how the concept of loss aversion affects the decision-making process of students when they choose their courses at Universiti Malaysia Sabah. The primary focus of this research is to understand the impact of factors such as individual interests, career aspirations, and the reputation of lecturers on the degree of loss aversion experienced by students during their course selection. To gather data, the study employed purposive sampling, targeting third-year students from ten different academic programs. Questionnaires were administered, and data analysis was carried out using SPSS version 28 and SmartPLS 4.0. The findings of the study highlight a noteworthy negative correlation between students' career aspirations and the presence of loss aversion in their course selection decisions. Simultaneously, the research indicates that personal interests and the reputation of lecturers do not exert a significant influence on the manifestation of loss aversion in course selection among students at Universiti Malaysia Sabah
