Faktor Penyebab Peningkatan Tanah Pertanian Terbiar di Negeri Kedah Darul Aman
Isu tanah pertanian terbiar sentiasa menjadi perhatian pihak kerajaan dengan memperuntukkan pelbagai insentif dan dana dalam usaha untuk memperkasakan sekuriti makanan negara sekaligus mengelak kebergantungan terhadap bekalan import. Tindakan tersebut wajar supaya negara kekal berdaya tahan daripada sebarang kemungkinan pada masa hadapan di samping menjana ekonomi berasaskan pertanian. Namun, isu peningkatan tanah pertanian terbiar berterusan membelenggu pemilik tanah dan negara apabila berlaku peningkatan saban tahun sepertimana yang dilaporkan oleh Jabatan Pertanian. Oleh itu, kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan peningkatan tanah pertanian terbiar di Negeri Kedah Darul Aman. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan penyelidikan kualitatif dan data dikutip melalui kaedah temu bual separa berstruktur serta pemerhatian langsung. Seramai 33 orang pemilik tanah dan 5 orang informan kajian telah ditemu bual. Kaedah analisis kandungan telah digunakan untuk menganalisis data menerusi transkrip temu bual. Melalui kajian ini, isu sebenar yang dihadapi oleh pemilik tanah pertanian dapat dikenal pasti. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa masalah modal merupakan faktor utama yang mempengaruhi peningkatan tanah pertanian terbiar di negeri Kedah Darul Aman. Selain itu terdapat juga beberapa faktor lain yang mempengaruhi seperti bantuan agensi kerajaan, birokrasi, kekurangan kelengkapan asas, masalah minat dan lain-lain faktor yang merangkumi masalah haiwan liar, bencana alam dan sumber tanah. Hasil kajian ini diharap dapat membantu Kerajaan Persekutuan dan Kerajaan Negeri merangka strategi dalam penambahbaikan Dasar Pertanian Negara, melaksanakan pendekatan strategi pertanian yang kompeten di samping pengurusan dan perancangan guna tanah yang lebih dinamik di masa hadapan
Cabaran Guru Menggunakan Bahan Elektronik dalam Proses Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran Sejarah
Pendidikan Sejarah merupakan sebuah ilmu yang tertua dan telah lama diajarkan di sekolah-sekolah di Malaysia serta merupakan satu daripada dua mata pelajaran wajib lulus di peringkat Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). Dalam meneliti dan memahami tentang Pendidikan Sejarah, cabaran guru dalam proses pengajaran perlu dititikberatkan bagi memastikan kesempurnaan pembelajaran. Oleh itu, kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji cabaran guru menggunakan bahan elektronik dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Kaedah kualitatif berbentuk kajian kes dan penggunaan instrumen temu bual separa berstruktur digunakan bagi mengumpul data. Seramai sepuluh orang guru beropsyen Sejarah di daerah Kulim dijadikan peserta kajian, iaitu lima orang guru perempuan dan lima orang guru lelaki. Data temu bual dianalisis untuk mencari tema dan diberi kod. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan guru menghadapi beberapa cabaran antaranya kekangan masa, kekurangan kemahiran, peningkatan beban tugas dan kekurangan kemudahan di dalam kelas. Kajian ini memberi sumbangan dalam menyediakan maklumat empirikal tentang cabaran penggunaan bahan elektronik bukan sahaja dalam kalangan guru beropsyen Sejarah, malah juga kepada guru-guru lain
Pengaruh Amalan Kepimpinan Distributif Pengetua Terhadap Pengurusan Bilik Darjah Abad Ke -21
Kajian ini dijalankan untuk mengenal pasti pengaruh kepimpinan distributif pengetua terhadap pengurusan bilik darjah abad ke-21 dalam kalangan guru sekolah menengah luar bandar di daerah Kota Marudu, Sabah. Seramai 200 orang guru dari 6 buah sekolah dipilih sebagai responden kajian. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif jenis tinjauan. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan perisian SPSS versi 25.0. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan tahap amalan kepimpinan distributif pengetua adalah tinggi (M=4.38, S.P=0.46), manakala tahap pengurusan bilik darjah abad ke-21 dalam kalangan guru berada pada tahap tinggi (M=4.26, S.P=0.42). Analisis ANOVA sehala sampel bebas mendapati tidak terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan terhadap tahap pengurusan bilik darjah abad ke-21 dalam kalangan guru berdasarkan pengalaman mengajar. Hasil analisis regresi mudah mendapati amalan kepimpinan distributif pengetua merupakan faktor yang signifikan menyumbang kepada pengurusan bilik darjah abad ke-21 dalam kalangan guru. Dapatan kajian ini memberikan implikasi terhadap dasar, amalan dan latihan kepada pihak berkepentingan bagi memantapkan pengurusan bilik darjah abad ke-21. Kesimpulannya, kepimpinan pengetua sangat penting untuk mengupayakan kepimpinan dalam kalangan guru agar mereka menjadi lebih kreatif dan inovatif mengurus bilik darjah abad ke-21 demi kecemerlangan murid secara holistik seiring dengan keperluan pembangunan negara
Terjemahan Unsur Budaya Sosial dalam Amali Terjemahan Pelajar
Terjemahan merupakan satu aktiviti yang melibatkan pemindahan maklumat dari bahasa sumber ke bahasa sasaran. Pemindahan ini melibatkan pelbagai aspek termasuklah budaya. Terjemahan budaya bukanlah suatu tugas yang mudah dilakukan. Penterjemah perlu benar-benar memahami unsur budaya teks sumber sebelum diterjemahkan. Hal ini mungkin sukar bagi individu yang baharu mempelajari untuk menjadi penterjemah. Sehubungan itu, satu kajian dijalankan bagi menganalisis prosedur terjemahan unsur budaya sosial dalam Amali Terjemahan pelajar yang mengikuti kursus terjemahan. Analisis kandungan dan analisis perbandingan digunakan sebagai kaedah dalam kajian berbentuk kualitatif ini. Kategori Budaya dan Prosedur Terjemahan oleh Newmark (1988) digunakan sebagai kerangka teori. Hasil analisis menunjukkan terdapat tujuh unsur budaya sosial dalam teks sumber dan boleh dikategorikan kepada tiga subkategori iaitu (i) riadah, (ii) kerja dan (iii) kelas masyarakat. Unsur budaya subkategori riadah merupakan subkategori yang paling banyak dapatannya iaitu sebanyak empat dapatan (57.1%), diikuti oleh subkategori kelas masyarakat sebanyak dua dapatan (28.6%) dan subkategori kerja sebanyak satu dapatan (14.3%). Enam prosedur terjemahan iaitu (i) pemindahan, (ii) naturalisasi, (iii) pinjam terjemah, (iv) persamaan budaya, (v) transposisi dan (vii) kata demi kata. Dapatan juga menunjukkan terdapat kesalahan dalam terjemahan unsur budaya sosial dalam terjemahan pelajar. Dapatan kajian ini diharapkan dapat memberi keterangan tentang hasil terjemahan pelajar terutamanya terjemahan budaya
Examining Malaysian Chinese Lexical Variations in Newspaper Discourse: A Standard Chinese in China Perspective
This study aims to examine Malaysian Chinese (MC) lexical variations in newspaper discourse from a Standard Chinese in China (SCC) perspective. Through qualitative content analysis, the research explores the reasons behind the formation of MC lexical variations, providing insights into the dynamic evolution of the Chinese language within diverse cultural and geographical contexts. Data for this research were collected from “Sin Chew Daily” (Online) during October to December 2023 in Malaysia. Microsoft Excel software facilitated data processing, aiding the researcher in analysis and interpretation. The theoretical framework guiding this study is grounded in the theory of language contact, seeking to understand how linguistic interactions and influences contribute to the divergence in MC lexical variations. The findings illustrate that the primary drivers for the emergence of MC lexical variations are the influences of Malay, English, Hokkien, and Cantonese. The study also acknowledges potential limitations and challenges in the analysis process, such as data availability and subjectivity in word classification. Through this comprehensive analysis, the study aims to enrich academic discussions on language dynamics in multicultural societies and provide insights for language planning and policymaking in diverse linguistic contexts
The Analysis of Schematic Structure in Students’ Argumentative Essays
Argumentative essay is an important component in English writing for students in China. The present study investigated the schematic structure of a higher vocational college students’ argumentative writings and its pedagogical implementation in teaching and learning English writing in China context. This study utilized a descriptive qualitative approach to analyze fifteen English argumentative essays of students from a higher vocational college in Anhui, China. The schematic structure was analyzed based on Lee’s (2006) model under Systemic Functional Linguistics. The findings showed that when writing argumentative essays, higher vocational college students in China centered on giving ‘Thesis’, ‘Arguments’ and ‘Reinforcement’ stages. Some essays including high-graded essays did not present the ‘Identification’ stage and many essays ignored the ‘Recommendation’ stage. For the ‘Arguments’ stage, middle-graded and low-graded essays did not exhibit the ‘Point’ and ‘Elaboration’ steps clearly. As many students failed to write reasonable and persuasive argumentative essays, the pedagogical implication is that teachers should help students be conscious of the schematic structure of different writing genres, and give students more opportunities to practice writing
Examining the Trends, Themes and Social Structure of Teacher Leadership Literature: A Bibliometric Review
Over the past decade, teacher leadership has garnered significant attention, playing a pivotal role in educational reform and enhancement. This bibliometric analysis explores teacher leadership research within the Scopus database from 2014 to 2023. The study aims to identify emerging trends, research gaps, and future implications for educational practice. By reviewing diverse studies, it examines the impact of leadership styles on teacher morale, student achievement, and school improvement. Additionally, it investigates educators' roles in fostering positive school climates, driving change, and promoting collaboration within the educational community. The data collection involved retrieving 1048 articles using the keyword "teacher leadership." Tools such as Microsoft Excel for frequency analysis, data visualization, and Harzing's Publish or Perish for citation metrics were employed to analyze the data. This analysis aims to deepen our understanding of the multifaceted dimensions of teacher leadership, providing valuable insights for researchers and practitioners. The study evaluates various bibliometric indicators, including language, subject area, publication trends, contributing countries, influential institutions, active source titles, citation patterns, authorship characteristics, and keyword distributions. The results highlight a significant increase in teacher leadership literature from 2014 to 2023, with the United States leading in contributions, followed by Turkey. In conclusion, this bibliometric analysis offers a comprehensive overview of teacher leadership research over the past decade. The identified trends and research gaps provide valuable insights for researchers, educators, and policymakers, supporting the advancement of teacher leadership as a critical tool for enhancing educational outcomes and professional development in the 21st century
Metamorphosis of Tradition: Dong Arts from Folk Dong Painting to Contemporary Expressions
The Dong ethnic minority in southwest China possesses a distinctive cultural heritage. Dong's painting emerges as a unique and diverse form within Dong's artistic endeavors, capturing the essence of daily life among the Dong people. Regrettably, Dong paintings often endure neglect compared to the more recognized Dong architectural art. To revive appreciation for Dong culture, this study delves into traditional Dong folk paintings, aiming to discern various painting types and explore the impact of these traditional forms on contemporary Dong paintings. The similarities and differences between traditional Dong folk painting and contemporary Dong painting are obtained through the investigation and artistic practice of the Dong nationality. It mainly focuses on literature analysis, case studies, and art practice-based research. This investigation reveals that contemporary Dong paintings continue incorporating and reinterpreting symbols, architectural motifs, and dress patterns from traditional Dong folk art. This continuity in artistic expression contributes significantly to preserving and disseminating Dong culture in evolving artistic forms
The Effect of Gamification on Primary Students' Malay Reading Comprehension
Reading is a fundamental ability crucial for everyday life, including learning. Research on reading comprehension has intrigued scholars, resulting in various studies to uncover effective strategies for enhancing students' reading comprehension. In the Bahasa Melayu curriculum of Malaysian education, fostering students' reading and comprehension skills is crucial. This study aims to examine whether students' Malay reading comprehension could be enhanced using gamification methods. This study employed an experimental design, and a total of 74 students, aged between 10 and 11 years and encompassing both males and females, participated in the study. The participants were from primary schools located in a rural district. An independent-sample t-test analysis revealed a significant difference in Malay reading comprehension among participants exposed to different instructional methods. Specifically, participants who engaged with the gamification method outperformed their counterparts who adhered to the traditional method. These findings offer valuable insights for educators aiming to incorporate gamification into reading comprehension instruction. The implications of this study's findings extend to educational practitioners, providing guidance on the integration of gamification into the reading comprehension curriculum. Furthermore, these results hold the potential to inform the Ministry of Education in Malaysia, supporting the advancement of gamification-based learning initiatives
Impact of Teachers’ Psychological Well-Being on Usability of Systematic Guidance for Constructing Achievement Test Items
Assessment in education is crucial for revealing student achievement potential and motivating learners. Teacher-made tests, a common assessment tool, must be well-designed and aligned with learning objectives to measure student performance effectively. The Systematic Guidance System (SiPantik) was developed to assist teachers in constructing quality test items. This study evaluates SiPantik's usability and its impact on teachers' psychological well-being. Using the USE Questionnaire, the study investigates how the system's ease of use, usefulness, and satisfaction reduce stress and enhance teachers' sense of competence and control. The findings indicate that SiPantik is perceived as a supportive and efficient tool that positively influences psychological well-being by reducing administrative burdens and making the teaching process more enjoyable. The study underscores the importance of user-centric design in educational tools, as the usability and satisfaction provided by SiPantik are closely linked to improved job satisfaction, mental health, and overall life satisfaction. The positive impact of SiPantik highlights the broader benefits of well-designed systems in fostering a supportive and productive educational environment
