The Impact of Deepfakes on Public Trust in Digital Media : Exploring Public Perception of Media Trust
Deepfake is a type of AI-generated content that refers to the generation of visual or audio content created or edited by AI tools, which may depict real or non-existent people. Such deepfake contents raise social and ethical concerns. This study focuses on how exposure to deepfakes influences public perceptions of media trust. Findings reveal that repeated exposure to deepfakes and difficulty distinguishing real from fake content erode media trust, while higher media literacy, greater confidence in detecting deepfakes, and awareness of AI-based detection tools mitigate these effects. The research contributes novel insights by demonstrating moderation effects and empirically validating the Illusory Truth Effect in the context of synthetic media.
Challenges of Digital Transformation : AI Adoption and its Impact on Workers in the ManufacturingIndustry
Introducing AI robots in manufacturing helps the work run more smoothly and supportsemployees in doing their jobs better. The psychological and physical challenges that the manufacturingworkers face when interacting with robotic systems are examined in this study. The study was conductedthrough semi-structured interviews with employees in the automotive manufacturing industry, guided bythe Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) model. According to research, AI has decreased some types ofmanual labor. Still, it has also brought along challenges such as persistent physical strain, mentalexhaustion, technostress, and reduced autonomy. In increasingly automated situations, participantsexpressed emotions of dehumanization, emotional detachment, and loss of their role identity. The studyshows that real innovation works best when people and technology are valued. It highlights the need todesign AI systems that support workers, ensuring that new technology helps rather than replaces them
A commentary : Aspiring athletes’ transition literacy and beyond
In this commentary we take a scientist practitioner’s perspective to briefly overview major approaches in career transition research and interventions, summarize a quintessence of athletes’ career transition knowledge in the form of transition literacy postulates, and proceed with how transition literacy can become a resource for athletes, coaches, parents, sport psychology and allied professionals seeking to facilitate athletes’ pursuits of career excellence. We suggest considering transition literacy as (a) the basic transition competencies derived from related theories and research and (b) an important part of athletes’ and their supporters’ broad-based expertise, in addition to more commonly considered performance related knowledge and skills. Distilled from major review papers on athletes’ career development and transitions, the transition literacy postulates also termed the “golden rules” of transitions address the roles of transitions in athlete career development, transition processes, phases, pathways and outcomes, as well athletes’ environments and transition support. We conclude with recommendations of how transition literacy can be a useful part in athletes’, parents’ and coaches’ education and thereafter, provide recommendations for the education of sport psychology professionals. © 2025 The Author(s). A Hybrid Task Allocation and Motion Planning Framework for Mobile Robots
This thesis investigates the challenges associated with task allocation and motion planning in dynamic and complex environments involving fleets of mobile robots. The primary objective is to coordinate task allocation and trajectory planning in a manner that promotes balanced workload distribution, formulated as the minimization of the maximum operational cost incurred by any individual robot. A hybrid planning framework is proposed in which centralized task allocation and global path planning are performed under static assumptions, while execution-level feasibility is maintained through local trajectory refinement. Task allocation is formulated using a permutation-matrix representation and explored using multiple solution strategies, including deterministic annealing with Potts neurons, stochastic simulated annealing, and heuristic graph-based methods. The cost matrix, derived from global path planners and representing path length and/or traversal time, enables a systematic comparison of these approaches in terms of solution quality, computational complexity, and scalability. The results indicate that deterministic annealing can produce high-quality, balanced task allocations for small- to mediumscale problem instances, while heuristic methods offer improved robustness and computational efficiency in larger or time-critical scenarios. At the motion-planning level, the framework adapts the CHOMP (Covariant Hamiltonian Optimization for Motion Planning) algorithm to account for the kinematic constraints of non-holonomic wheeled mobile robots. Rather than serving as a standalone global planner, the modified CHOMP formulation is used as a local trajectory refinement mechanism, enabling collision avoidance and feasibility preservation during execution. Experimental and simulation results demonstrate that this approach improves trajectory smoothness and feasibility in moderately dynamic environments, while also highlighting limitations related to scalability and sensitivity to initialization. Overall, this thesis presents an integrated task and motion planning framework that emphasizes structured problem formulation and systematic trade-off analysis rather than universal optimality. By explicitly examining the conditions under which different allocation and motion-planning strategies are effective, the work contributes practical insights into multi-robot coordination and supports the informed deployment of autonomous robotic systems in industrial and logistics automation
Human-Centered Conversational AI Design Artifacts Leveraging Semantic Techniques and Large Language Models : Meta Requirement and Design Principles and Design Patterns
Conversational agents (CAs) have emerged as powerful tools for human-computer interaction, of ering natural language interfaces and personalized assistance, particularly in healthcare. Thedevelopment of CAs leveraging knowledge engineering (KE) techniques and LLMs necessitatestheconsideration of specific design principles (DPs) and interactive patterns to ensure their ef ectivenessand user satisfaction. This research focuses on a comprehensive analysis of the DPs andpatternscrucial for developing CA artifacts using KE techniques. To address the gap, author incorporateddesign science research methodology (DSRM) principles tailored to the modelling workshopmethodto capture domain knowledge and practitioner expertise in a new health information systemclass. Theresearch explores DPs based on meta-requirements suitable for interaction patterns andKE-basedCAs, including ontology-driven approaches. The research proposed systematic pathways, andbyapplying these DPs and patterns, developers can develop CAs exploiting LLMs to understandcomplexuser queries, provide accurate responses, and adapt to dynamic contexts
DyPolySeg : Taylor Series-Inspired Dynamic Polynomial Fitting Network for Few-shot Point Cloud Semantic Segmentation
Few-shot point cloud semantic segmentation effectively addresses data scarcity by identifying unlabeled query samples through semantic prototypes generated from a small set of labeled support samples. However, pre-training-based methods suffer from domain shifts and increased training time. Additionally, existing methods using DGCNN as the backbone have limited geometric structure modeling capabilities and struggle to bridge the categorical information gap between query and support sets. To address these challenges, we propose DyPolySeg, a pre-training-free Dynamic Polynomial fitting network for few-shot point cloud semantic segmentation. Specifically, we design a unified Dynamic Polynomial Convolution (DyPolyConv) that extracts flat and detailed features of local geometry through Low-order Convolution (LoConv) and Dynamic High-order Convolution (DyHoConv), complemented by Mamba Block for capturing global context information. Furthermore, we propose a lightweight Prototype Completion Module (PCM) that reduces structural differences through self-enhancement and interactive enhancement between query and support sets. Experiments demonstrate that DyPolySeg achieves state-of-the-art performance on S3DIS and ScanNet datasets. © 2025, ML Research Press. All rights reserved

Spatial context matters : A conceptual framework for urban and rural-peripheral place branding
This paper critically examines place branding strategies across the urban-rural spectrum, identifying conceptual gaps in how branding strategies are formulated and applied in different spatial contexts. While extensive literature exists on urban place branding, frameworks for rural, remote, and peripheral areas remain underdeveloped. We question why urban-centric approaches fail in rural settings and we explore theoretical foundations needed for effective rural-peripheral place branding, examining whether socio-economic structure, stakeholder composition, and place identity formation differences necessitate distinct theoretical approaches
The crofter is a woman : Gender division of labour in rural semi-landless households, Sweden 1850–1900
This paper contributes to the empirical question of the labour organization and gender division of labour in a semi-landless rural group during the second half of the nineteenth century, a period charac-terized by developing agrarian capitalism. Thereby, we also add to the broader question of the role of gender division of labour in economic transformation. Through a triangulation of sources – crofters’ contracts, work lists and ethnographic questionnaires, we found that men performed a much higher number of corvée days per year compared to women. Moreover, we found that many core agricultural tasks were done by both men and women. The labour organization, on the other hand, was clearly gendered – the role as a crofter in the sense of doing corvée labour for a landowner was primarily a male experience, while the role as a crofter in the sense of working one’s own small plot of land was to a larger extent a female experience.</p
"Man försöker hitta personer med vilja och engagemang" : En kvalitativ studie om konsultchefers upplevelse av att attrahera och rekrytera personal inom bemanningsbranschen
Detta examensarbete undersöker konsultchefer i bemanningsbranschen och deras upplevelser kring att attrahera, rekrytera och matcha kandidater, med särskilt fokus på komplexiteten som medförs av trepartsrelationen mellan konsult, kundföretag och bemanningsföretag. Studien är baserad på åtta kvalitativa intervjuer med konsultchefer som arbetar på ett bemanningsföretag i Sverige. Dessa intervjuer har analyserats genom tematisk analys. Studien analyserar deras strategier i en urvalsprocess, hur de hanterar kompetensbrist och vilka utmaningar som kan uppstå i relation till de andra parterna i trepartsrelationen. Resultatet visar att konsultchefens arbete kantas av behovet av att själv kunna väga kundföretagets kravprofil mot sin egen bedömning av kandidaten och dess personlighet, potential och engagemang utifrån sin magkänsla och erfarenhet. Vidare visar resultatet hur konsultchefens roll kräver att de är närvarande och bygger tillit gentemot konsulten, trots att det är hos kundföretaget som konsultens dagliga arbete sker. Studien bidrar med en fördjupad inblick och förståelse kring konsultchefens roll i en struktur som präglas av komplexitet, något som det ännu finns förhållandevis lite forskning om inom arbetsvetenskapen.This thesis explores the experiences of consultant managers in the staffing industry in regard to how they attract, recruit, and match candidates, with particular focus to the complexity in the relationship of three between consultant, client company, and staffing company. The study is based on eight qualitative interviews with consultant managers working at a staffing company in Sweden. These interviews have been analyzed using a thematic analysis. It studies their strategies in the process of selection, how they handle lack of qualified candidates, and what challenges may emerge in relation to the other parties in the relationship’s structure. The findings show that consultant managers must consider the client's requirements against their own judgement of a candidate’s personality, potential, and commitment, often relying on their own experience and gut feeling. Furthermore, the results show that the consultant manager’s role requires them to be present and have the ability to build trust with consultants, even though the consultants' daily work takes place at the client company. This study provides a deeper understanding of the consultant manager’s role within a structurally complex environment, a subject that remains relatively unexplored in work science as a field
