The Innocent/El Inocente.

    No full text
International audienceParadigmatic of the dematerialized and geographically decompartmentalized popular culture that emerged at the dawn of the digital age in the entertainment field, the digital platform Netflix signed a contract with American thriller author Harlan Coben to adapt fourteen of his novels into series. One of them, The Innocent (2005), was brought to the screen by Catalan filmmaker Oriol Paulo in the form of an eight-episode Spanish miniseries, El Inocente, which rose to the top of the most popular series in Spain and internationally upon its release (2021).By deterritorializing the criminal plot of The Innocent, initially rooted in a North American geographical, linguistic, and social context (New Jersey, Nevada), and transferring it to contemporary Barcelona, Paulo subjects the hypotextual object to a process of Hispanicization, the expressions, issues, and paradoxes of which will be examined from the perspective of both the diegesis and the mechanisms of the series' production in a logic of chain transpositions. Our objective will be to analyze the dynamics of transmedia and transnational circulation that underlie the audiovisual adaptation of The Innocent, in light of the glocalization strategies deployed by Netflix to forge a mainstream and exportable Hispanic identity, both immediately identifiable and standardized, shaped by the platform with the aim of maximizing the distribution of its cultural products beyond all borders.

Intracranial Intracranial aneurysms (IAs), affecting 2-3% of adults, can rupture, causing subarachnoid hemorrhage with high morbidity and mortality. Flow diverters (FDs) treat IAs by reconstructing arteries but face challenges like thromboembolism and incomplete occlusion (up to 20%). Statins may enhance FD outcomes via vascular effects like improved endothelial repair. In a rabbit model, elastase-induced aneurysms were treated with FDs. Rabbits received Rosuvastatin plus Aspirin (ROS+ASA, n=13) or Aspirin alone (ASA, n=9). After two weeks, aneurysm occlusion, branch patency, and endothelialization were assessed. ROS+ASA showed higher occlusion (84.6% vs 66.6%), better branch patency (≥1 mm: 94.4% vs 46.1%, p=0.007), and a superior composite outcome (76.9% vs 22.2%, p=0.011). Endothelial coverage correlated with Rosuvastatin levels (r=0.92, p=0.02). Rosuvastatin improved FD efficacy, suggesting potential for further study.

    No full text
International audienceIn a previous study we established the ambiguity of the Spanish proverb Piedra movediza, moho no cobija and postulated that this ambiguity might be the result of a diachronic evolution of the proverbial meaning. The present work tests this hypothesis both outside and within a communicative context. It attempts to identify the causes and consequences of this ambiguity using a semantic and pragmatic perspective.

Emotions (Luminet, 2002) are inherent in individuals, in organisations and therefore essential in management (Goleman, 1998). They influence motivation, commitment, decision-making and behaviour, as well as collective and inter-organisational interactions within a given conceptual territory, as defined by Hirigoyen and Villeger (2020). Emotions can be individual and have been explored at length in psychology (Ekman, 1971).However, according to Barsade & Gibson (2007), the collective dimension of emotions is still an emerging field of exploration in management science, even though they are a key success factor in organisational change strategies (Huy, 1999, 2002, 2012). And the emotional dimension is still little addressed in the management of non-profit organisations (Mahlaoui, Cadet and Ronzy, 2023). This is why we have focused our research on associations (Simonet, 2006) and their volunteers according to Hustinx and Lammertyn (2003). Furthermore, the emotional dimension is absent from the approach to Territorial Social Responsibility (Goujon Belghit, 2023b) while it judiciously addresses the complexity of managerial strategies in a given territory, integrating the individual, organisational and inter-organisational dimensions. In the absence of a sufficient theoretical framework, we have adopted a constructivist and contextualist stance using an inductive approach. In terms of methodology, our various qualitative and quantitative case studies Eisenhardt, K. M. (1989) were conducted in France, Italy and French-speaking Switzerland, which enabled us to explore the role of emotions at an individual, organisational and inter-organisational level. On the one hand, we were able to identify the impact on volunteers in terms of recruitment, integration, follow-up and their involvement over time. Secondly, we have developed the links between inter-organisational citizenship behaviour (ICB) according to Hinkin (1995), territorial adaptive performance (TAP) (Skinner, 2008), social innovation (SI) (Murray, Caulier-Grice, J., & Mulgan, G., 2010) and territorial resilience. We are finalising our research on the emergence of emotional performance, complementing the work on global performance by Capron (2011).Les émotions (Luminet, 2002) sont inhérentes aux individus, dans les organisations et donc essentielles dans le management (Goleman, 1998).

International audienceIntroduction: The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) does not have national prevalence data for arterial hypertension (HTN) or diabetes (type I and II combined) to aid evidence-based decision-making, despite the assumption of epidemiological transition in low- and middle-income countries. The aim of this study was to estimate a proxy of prevalence for HTN and diabetes. Methodology: This study used routine monthly reported data pertaining to HTN and diabetes from the District Health Information Software 2 (DHIS2), spanning 2019–2023. Data underwent quality assessment and adjustments using standardization before analysis. Equity analyses were carried out at the national and sub-national levels. Epidemiological curves and maps were produced to analyze trends in the prevalence of HTN and diabetes among adults aged 18 and over. Permission to use the data was obtained from the regulatory authority. Results: Over five years, incidence of HTN increased from 13.23% (CI 95%: 13.22–13.24) to 15.23% (CI 95%: 15.22–15.24) (+15.1% relative increase), and diabetes rose from 2.73% (CI 95%: 2.72–2.74) to 3.345% (CI 95%: 3.34–3.35) (+16.3% relative increase), with provincial variations observed. Conclusions: In the DRC, hypertension and diabetes are advancing rapidly. Primary and preventative healthcare services and public health interventions must prioritize these diseases

DIS3 licenses B cells for plasma cell differentiation in humans

    No full text
International audienceDIS3 is the main catalytic subunit of the nuclear RNA exosome, a complex playing a crucial role in RNA processing and the degradation of various noncoding RNA substrates. In mice, DIS3 is essential for genomic rearrangements during B cell development, but its role in terminal plasma cell (PC) differentiation has not been explored. Although DIS3 gene alterations are frequent in multiple myeloma (MM), a PC malignancy, their molecular impact remains poorly understood. In this study, we developed an antisense oligonucleotide strategy to knock down DIS3 expression in a well-characterized model of human PC differentiation. Reducing DIS3 expression systematically led to decreased B cell proliferation and impaired PC differentiation with lower levels of switched immunoglobulin secretion. Transcriptome analyses confirmed alterations in the proliferation and differentiation programs, alongside an accumulation of noncoding RNAs. Notably, centromere-associated noncoding RNAs were highly sensitive to DIS3 activity, and their accumulation in DIS3-deficient cells, either as transcripts or DNA-associated RNAs, correlated with the mislocalization of the centromere-specific histone variant CENP-A. We finally observed reduced physiological DNA recombination and somatic hypermutation but increased genomic instability in DIS3-deficient cells, in agreement with the higher levels of IGH translocations observed in our large cohort of DIS3-mutant MM patients. Together, these results underscore the essential role of DIS3 in regulating B cell proliferation, DNA recombination, and physiological or malignant PC differentiation in humans

    Petite histoire de la maternelle

    No full text
