Therapeutic Effects of Shatkarma on Health Through Ayurvedic Perspective
Man has made tremendous progress in almost every walk of life objects once considered impossible to be achieved, have now been achieved by us. Modern researchers and scientists have fundamentally altered our way of life. However, pollution of air, water, body, and mind is also the result of science, with the advance of civilization mankind is getting weaker day by day. The fundamental changes in our lifestyle brought about by industrialization, changes in diet, physical activity, the nature of the job sitting hours together in front of the computer, roaming always in the vehicles, and lack of active exercise have paved the way to many diseases like diabetes, heart disease, obesity, etc. Routine health problems like constipation, uneasiness, gaseous distention, burning of eyes, sinusitis, headache, indigestion, etc. require a suitable treatment modality to overcome. Every day persons cannot consume medicines for these problems. The human body needs a kind of physical training to show its efficient results. These results are gained by practicing the so-called ‘Shatkarma’ which is able to bring good results if practiced forever. Body cleansing is gained through the practice of Shatkarmas or the six purificatory techniques. They are very important from the point of view of physical and mental health, and these simple techniques are also highly valuable in healing internal disorders which are the aim of writing this paper
An Observational Study for the Clinical Correlation of Sama-Snayugata Vata (Non-Specific Chronic Synovitis) with the Analysis of the Synovial Fluid
This study delves into the intricate interplay between the Ayurvedic concept of Sama-Snayugata Vata, characterized by the vitiation of Vata dosha affecting the musculoskeletal system, and the analysis of synovial fluid in the context of knee effusion. Synovial fluid, a crucial component within diarthrodial joints, serves to nourish, lubricate, and protect the joint structures. Under normal circumstances, its biochemical composition closely mirrors that of plasma. However, pathological conditions, such as arthritis, can lead to alterations in its constituents, offering insights into underlying joint pathology. Central to this study is the Ayurvedic concept of Shleshmadhara Kala, representing a phase characterized by optimal nourishment and lubrication of bodily tissues, essential for joint health and functionality. The Janu Sandhi, or knee joint, exemplifies this interplay, where the integrity of tendons and ligaments (Snayu) is crucial. Conditions like knee effusion, marked by abnormal synovial fluid accumulation, disrupt this equilibrium, leading to clinical manifestations and impairments. This observational study aims to comprehensively explore the correlation between Shleshmadhara Kala and the Snayu of the Janu Sandhi in the pathogenesis of Sama-Snayugata Vata, particularly in the context of knee effusion. Insights gained from this research will provide a foundation for devising effective therapeutic strategies, with the goal of restoring Vata dosha balance, rejuvenating affected tissues, and ultimately alleviating the manifestations of this condition. This investigation holds promise for enhancing our understanding of non-specific chronic synovitis and refining treatment modalities for improved patient outcomes
A Randomized Clinical Trial of Gokshuradi Ghan Vati and Gokshuradi Rasayana Churna Along with Swarjikadya Taila Karna Pichu in the Management of Karnasrava with Special Reference to Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media
Karnasrava means flow, oozing, dropping, exudate or discharge through ear. Karnasrava correlates in modern science with C.S.O.M. C.S.O.M. are a chronic inflammation of the middle ear which is the result of an initial episode of acute otitis media and characterized by recurrent discharge from the middle ear through a tympanic perforation. According to WHO prevalence of c.s.o.m. involves 65-330 million individuals with draining ears, 60% of whom (39-200 million) suffers from significant hearing impairment. Material and Method: The present study is done with 30 patients of Karnasrava divided into two groups, 15 patients were treated with Gokshuradi Ghan Vati along with Swarjikadya Taila Karna Pichu rest 15 were treated with Gokshuradi Rasayana Churna along with Swarjikadya Taila Karna Pichu. Result: It showed that Gokshuradi Ghana vati along with Swarjikadya Taila Karna Pichu showed slightly significant as compared to Gokshuradi Rasayana Churna along with Swarjikadya Taila Karna Pichu. Discussion: Swarjikadya Taila is acts as Sthanika Snehana and Swedana, thus causes increased local warming, pseudo-inflammation and increased blood circulation there by helping in better absorption to affected site. Most of the drugs of Gokshuradi Ghana Vati have Rasayana, Kasa-Shwashara, Vedanasthapana, Shulaprashmana, Shothahara, Balya, Vranashodhana, Vranaropana, Krimighna, Deepana, Pachana properties. Conclusion: Both groups showed good result in the management of Karnasrava but Gokshuradi Ghan vati along with Swarjikadya taila Karna pichu showed slightly significant as compared to Gokshuradi Rasayana Churna along with Swarjikadya Taila Karna Pichu
Adverse Effect of Reprotoxic Substances on Human Health
The arenas of reproductive and developmental toxicology are multifaceted areas of significant importance and intense study, for the human population, as well as for animal species. Due to impact from various toxicants, from pharmaceuticals to environmental contaminants increases risks of adverse effects to Reproductive systems and developing embryos and foetuses. There is lots of information found in relation with environmental toxicants and their effects on reproductive system of male and female as well as on foetus. There is need of scientific Research about effects of toxicants on the process of reproduction and on developing foetus through molecular, physiological and anatomical studies including reversibility of their impacts. Also, studying fewer common exposures like new types of chemicals, occupational factors and exposure by inhalation. People may encounter substances that have harmful impact on reproductive health as well as developing embryo and foetus through water, air, soil, dust, food, or consumer products. The ultimate aim of all scientific toxicological research is to utilize unfailing and predictive toxicity testing to prevent exposure to potentially harmful toxicants on reproducing animals, humans as well as developing individuals. Also, study of role of the placenta in developmental toxicity of chemicals is essential
A Comprehensive Review of Medovaha Srotodushti w.s.r Hyperlipidaemia
Hyperlipidaemia does not bear a precise reference in Ayurveda though the study of Ayurvedic literature bears some implicit allusions. This might be due to the fact that it is a metabolic disorder and not a full-fledged disease in itself. The term hyperlipidemia is not used in our classic. But we can correlate it with Medovaha Sroto Dushti. Hyperlipidaemia is term used to denote raised serum levels of cholesterol or triglycerides or both. Raised total cholesterol is a major cause of disease burden in both the developed and developing world as a risk factor for ischemic heart disease and stroke. CVDs accounts for one third of total deaths around the world, it is believed that CVDs will turn out to be the main cause of death and disability worldwide by the year 2020. Lack of exercise and Kaphavardhak Ahar Vihar are the two main causes of vitiation of Medovaha Srotas. Dietary low fat intake or nutrition supplementation is the key of lowering blood lipids as art for keeping hyperlipidaemia in control and manageable
Evidence Based Classical Ayurveda Management the Epidydimal Cysts
Epididymal cysts are collection of fluid in a single sac (unilocular) or more than one (multilocular) as a result of dilatation of efferent epididymal tubules due to tubular obstruction with benign in nature and often bilateral in nature. It involves the development of fluid-filled sacs or cysts within the epididymis, a coiled tube located behind each testicle. An epididymal cyst, also known as a spermatocele that affects the male reproductive system. If it is not treated it may develop to an abscess and probably the destruction of the epididymis which can lead to infertility. In Ayurveda it can be under the heading Kaphaja Granthi. A 27-year-old male patient visited the outpatient department of Kayachikitsha with complaints of bilateral scrotal swelling with itching since six months. Patient was diagnosed on the basis of colour doppler of scrotum and it indicates bilateral epididymis head cyst with minimal fluid seen around left spermatic cord with herniation of omental fat on Valsalva. The patient was treated with classical management of Kapahaja Granthi described in texts, Vaman (medicated emesis), Virechana (therapeutic purgation) and followed by administered Arogyavardhini Vati 2 tablet each of 250mg twice a day in empty stomach, Kanchanara Guggulu two tablet each of 500mg twice a day after food with lukewarm water and Varunadi Kashaya 40ml once a day in morning empty stomach. After this treatment there was no scrotal swelling also the colour doppler study reveals normal colour doppler study with no significant abnormality noted. This case indicates the Ayurveda classical management given in texts can be helps to manage the condition like epidydimal cyst
A Physiological Study of Twaca w.s.r. to Effectiveness of Madhucchishta and Jatyadi Taila in Padadari
Ayurveda considers Padadari under Kshudra roga which has been first described in Sushruth Samhita. Padadari is one of the most commonest and negligible diseases, highly prevalent in rural areas. Vruddha Vata Dosha is related to Padadari. It is characterised by minor to severe cracks on the feet, more frequently on the heels. In severe conditions, it causes Vedana, Daha, Rookshata and occasionally Raktasrava. Here, Madhuchchista and Jatyadi Taila being cost and medically more effective are used as remedy for Padadari. An open labelled clinical trial has been conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of Malahar prepared using Madhuchchista and Jatyadi Taila in Padadari. Material and Method: Whole pharmaceutical procedure was carried out in the sequence of Madhuchchista and Jatyadi Taila preparation. Ratio of 1:5 of Madhuchchista and Jatyadi Taila for preparing Sikta Taila was selected and prepared for the preparation of Padadari Malahar. Result: Response to the treatment was recorded on a weekly basis and therapeutic effect was evaluated through symptomatic relief. Conclusion: The study yielded statistically highly significant results in symptoms such as dryness (P<0.001), roughness (P<0.001) and cracks associated with pain (P<0.001)
Reformation of Reproductive Health Using Havishyaanna in Rajaswalacharya
It’s been years that women are suffering from general disturbances associated with menstruation like abdominal pain, psychological stress, disturbed bowel movements. PG inhibitors and antispasmodic drugs etc are the popular mode of medication used in regular gynaecological clinical practice. It can give relief to the patient but has limitations over preventing the recurrence, which is, tend to happen mainly in adolescent and middle aged women due to modern lifestyle. According to Ayurveda, menstruation is a physiological process and governed by the actions of the three balanced state Doshas exist in a proper and its inequality causes abnormal menstruation. There are amazing diets and lifestyle modification given in Ayurveda which are beneficial to restore menstrual health with different combinations given in the ancient texts. Amongst all given possible diets during menstruation, Havishyanna - special diet is the most feasible as patients can make it on its own, consume for first three days of menstrual cycle which requires very less timing and has simple procedure. Menstruating women can deal with symptomatic and psychological changes occur during the menstruation by practicing Rajaswala Paricharya. Addition to this Havishyanna helps to reform reproductive health, it maintains balance of Vata dosha during menstruation, proper Rajavahan and Rajasrav, proper Rutukal nirmiti which helps to form high quality of oocyte, maintain healthy uterine environment, all these able to carry healthy pregnancy, in turn healthy Progeny
Management of Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (POAG): Ayurvedic and Modern Approaches
Primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) is a chronic disease characterized by elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), optic nerve damage, and visual field loss. This review explores the management of glaucoma from both Ayurvedic and modern medical perspectives, discussing their similarities, differences, and potential benefits. Modern therapeutic approaches include medication, laser therapy, and surgery to lower IOP and prevent visual field damage. However, glaucoma progression and optic nerve damage can occur even with normal IOP levels. Ayurveda views POAG as a manifestation of Adhimantha, primarily involving Pitta and Rakta doshas. Ayurvedic treatments focus on improving ocular health through various therapies, herbal formulations, and lifestyle modifications. Integrating Ayurvedic and modern approaches may provide a comprehensive approach to glaucoma management, enhancing patient outcomes
