A Critical Review on Jeerna Pratishyaya and its Management in Ayurveda
Ayurveda is interminable and ceaseless stream of old pharmaceuticals. The present era is full of stress, chaos, and strain due to lifestyle changes, changes in dietary propensities, urbanisation and industrialisation driving to expanded contamination and increased resistance to the various antibiotics that are responsible for occurrence of several diseases. Nose is one of the sensitive organs in human body which is uncovered to the outside environment, and is more prone to these causative factors leading to recurrent infection. Repeated attacks of Pratishyaya lead to the development of Jeerna Pratishyaya. Numerous treatment modalities are explained in allopathy like corticosteroids, antihistamines, anti-allergies, inhalers etc., but none of them are completely useful in curing the illness as well as preventing its recurrence, besides they have their own side effects. Thus, Ayurvedic management is more advantageous in Jeerna Pratishyaya
Ayurveda Approach in Management of Avascular Necrosis
Avascular necrosis (AVN) is a commonly encountered type of bone tissue death, presenting clinicians with multifaceted challenges in treatment. Effective management necessitates a delicate balance between preserving bone structure, restoring functionality, and relieving pain. Surgical interventions like drilling, bone graft insertion, and prosthetic placement are commonly pursued, yet their high cost and limited success rates underscore the need for alternative approaches. Exhibiting symptoms akin to disorders of musculoskeletal origin, AVN often manifests in a chronic stage, demanding comprehensive care. In Ayurveda, its clinical presentation and underlying pathology can be correlated with Asthi Majjakshaya (depletion of bone marrow), and Asthimajjagata Vata (Vata vitiation affecting bone and bone marrow). Ayurvedic management of AVN often involves Panchkarma therapies, (Shodhana i.e., eliminating toxins, restoring Doshik equilibrium, and rejuvenating the body) and medicinal intervention (Shamana i.e., pacifying Doshas within the body). Promising results viz., symptomatic improvements, revealed significant enhancements in pain relief, tenderness reduction, stiffness mitigation, and gait improvement underscoring the potential of Ayurvedic principles in providing substantial relief and enhancing the quality of life for individuals grappling with AVN. By incorporating Panchkarma therapies into the treatment of AVN, Ayurveda provides a holistic approach that not only alleviates symptoms but also targets the root causes contributing to the progression of the condition
Clinical trial to develop Ayurved protocol in Snayugata Aaghataja Shotha with special reference to ankle sprain
Acute sprains from sports injuries frequently occur in the ankle joint. Acute ankle sprain is responsible for 10-30% of sports related injuries in young athletes. Ankle sprain symptoms include pain and swelling, either with or without deformity. Modern science developed treatment modalities for the ankle sprain are below knee cast, ankle brace and ankle strap. When an ankle sprain is not treated properly, it can lead to chronic problems like pain, instability in the joint and limited range of motion.
Acharya Sushruta suggests Alepa with Sandhaniya Dravyas for the management of Snayugata Shotha. When employed as a Lepa, these Dravyas possess the qualities of Sandhaniya, Shodhahara, and Vedanashaman action.
It is need of today era to develop Ayurvedic protocol for ankle sprain. Hence, this study is taken up to develop protocol according to Ayurved. Phase wise distribution of Lepa, Patta Bhandhan mentioned in this article
Revitalizing Nerves: Panchakarma Therapy for Diabetic Neuropathy
Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) is one of the most common and debilitating complications of diabetes, affecting the peripheral nervous system resulting from prolonged elevated blood sugar levels. In Ayurveda, diabetes mellitus closely resembles a disorder called Madhumeha. In Avaranajanya Madhumeha- vitiated Kapha, Pitta and Meda causes Avarana to Vata that affects the vital Dhatus. This may lead to the complication of Madhumeha as that of diabetic neuropathy. A 44-year-old female patient diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus and exhibiting symptoms of DPN-such as numbness, reduced sensation and weakness in the extremities- treated with a combination of Ayurvedic oral medication and external therapies. Considering the treatment protocol of Prameha upadrava and Vatavyadhi chikitsa, internally, Ksheerabala 101 Capsule, and Avipattikara churna were used during the course of treatment. External therapies including Udwartana, Abhyanga and Masha upanaha were done for a duration of 14 days. Ayurveda\u27s integrative approach addresses both the root cause and symptoms of DPN, offering a natural and sustainable alternative for managing diabetic complications. This outcome emphasizes the potential efficacy of combining traditional Ayurvedic treatments with conventional care in the management of diabetic peripheral neuropathy
Cost-Effective Management of Seborrheic Keratosis Using Siddha Medicine
Seborrheic Keratosis (SK), commonly known as seborrheic warts or basal cell papilloma, is a prevalent benign skin tumor that is often removed for cosmetic reasons due to its appearance. These lesions can manifest in various forms and locations on the body, making them a common concern for many individuals seeking dermatological care. Within the Siddha system of medicine, such skin growths are classified as “Marul.” This case report discusses the successful treatment of a 30-year-old male patient diagnosed with SK on the scalp. The patient underwent a comprehensive four-day regimen of Kallani Kalimbu, a Siddha-based topical preparation rich in natural ingredients. Remarkably, this treatment resulted in the complete resolution of the lesion, with no visible scarring and no recurrence noted during follow-up visits over the course of several months. This case underscores the potential effectiveness of Kallani Kalimbu as a minimally invasive and cost-effective therapeutic option for managing SK. While these findings are promising, further studies involving larger controlled trials are essential to validate the efficacy and safety of Kallani Kalimbu for SK and similar skin conditions. Expanding the evidence base through rigorous research could facilitate the integration of traditional Siddha practices into contemporary dermatological treatment protocols, thereby enhancing the overall management of benign skin lesions and improving patient outcomes

A Conceptual Study of Aahar and Vihar in Post Covid-19 Complication
Ayurveda, a traditional healthcare system, emphasizes the importance of food and lifestyle in maintaining health and preventing diseases. Classics emphasize "Tryaupstambh" (Aahar, Nidra, Brahmacharya) as crucial factors for daily life, while the Charaka Samhita mentions "Sadvritta" as a code of good conduct for mental and social wellbeing and "Swasthavritta" for maintaining health and personal hygiene. Post- COVID-19 complications include cardiac, pulmonary, systemic, neuropsychiatric, tinnitus, acute kidney damage, renal failure, and thrombotic problems. Aahar or lifestyle is the ultimate medicine for health and prosperity. To promote mental health and prevent illness, living conditions and environments supporting healthy lifestyles are necessary. Regular Yoga and diet can help improve health and reduce the risk of complications. Ayurveda recommends immune-modulator regimes such as a healthy lifestyle, seasonal purification, and daily dietary and behavioural regimens. In this article, an attempt has been made to analyse the various measures and concepts of Aahar and Vihar described in a dispersed manner in different Samhitas will be helpful to manage the post Covid-19 complications and also for speedy recovery without any further complication of disease
Management of Chronic Fissure in Ano: A Case Study on Conservative vs. Surgical Treatment Approaches
The conservative treatment arm includes dietary modifications, stool softeners, topical analgesics, and sitz baths. This approach focuses on symptom relief, promoting healing, and preventing recurrence. In contrast, the surgical intervention arm involves procedures like lateral internal sphincterotomy (LIS) or advancement flap repair. These techniques aim to address the underlying sphincter hypertonicity or poor blood supply to the fissure site.
The case study will present two patient profiles: one managed conservatively and the other surgically. Parameters such as pain scores, healing rates, time to symptom resolution, and recurrence rates will be compared between the two groups. Additionally, quality of life metrics and patient satisfaction will be assessed.
Insights from this case study can aid clinicians in selecting the most appropriate treatment modality for chronic anal fissures, considering factors such as severity, patient preference, and potential risks. Ultimately, the study seeks to contribute valuable evidence to the ongoing debate surrounding the optimal management strategy for this prevalent colorectal condition. Furthermore, the impact on the patient\u27s quality of life and satisfaction with the chosen treatment approach is examined. Through a multidisciplinary approach involving gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons, and the patient, this case study highlights the importance of individualized care and shared decision-making in managing chronic fissure in ano
Ayurvedic Management of Dry Eye
Dry eye is a multifactorial illness of the tears and ocular surface, dry eye causes pain, disruptions to vision, instability in the tear film, and maybe even damage to the ocular surface. Tear secretion gives the corneal epithelium oxygen and continuously lubricates and moisturises the ocular surface. Dry eyes result from a disruption in regular tear production. Local, systematic and environmental factors play a major role in pathogenesis. Often exacerbated by smoke, wind, heat, low humidity or prolonged use of the eye. One of the most common disorders affecting the eyes is dry eye, affecting millions of people globally. The worldwide prevalence ranges from 5% to 50%, depending on the geographic region, Prevalence rate in India is higher than the global prevalence and ranges from 18.4% to 54.3%.
