Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood, characterised by inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity, which significantly affect academic, social, and emotional functioning. The etiology of ADHD is multifactorial, involving an interplay of neurobiological, environmental, and genetic determinants. If left untreated, ADHD can hampers learning ability, self-regulation, and behavioural development, leading to long-term challenges in adulthood. Ayurveda provides a comprehensive approach to such cognitive and behavioural disorders. Brahmyadi Yoga, a classical polyherbal formulation, contains Brahmi, Shankhapushpi, Vacha, Kushmanda with Kushta and Madhu which are well known for their Medhya Rasayana (nootropic and cognitive-enhancing) properties. Its bioactive phytoconstituents exert neuroprotective, adaptogenic, and nootropic effects, supporting brain plasticity, neurotransmitter modulation, and impulse regulation. By reducing hyperactivity, improving concentration, and enhancing cognitive functions, Brahmyadi Yoga offers a safe and holistic therapeutic option for managing ADHD in children

Hansodhak: An Ayurvedic Perspective of Water Purification in Sharad Ritu with Modern Correlation

Ayurvedic texts emphasize the necessity of pure water for health and disease prevention. Contaminated water (Dushta Jala) has been identified as a major cause of illnesses, especially in the post-monsoon period. The concept of Hansodhak Jala- naturally purified water- describes water acquiring cleansing and therapeutic properties when exposed to Surya (sunlight), Chandra (moonlight), and Agastya Nakshatra (Canopus star). This practice holds particular relevance in Sharad Ritu, a season linked to aggravated Pitta dosha and frequent waterborne diseases. The present study examines classical references to Hansodhak Jala and assesses their symbolic and practical significance. The traditional view is correlated with modern scientific methods of purification, including solar disinfection (SODIS), photodynamic treatment, and seasonal epidemiology. Findings suggest that Hansodhak Jala represents a natural, eco-friendly, and community-based strategy for ensuring water safety. The study concludes that Hansodhak Jala bridges ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with contemporary public health practices, underscoring the enduring relevance of traditional approaches in securing safe drinking water

In Ayurveda, leucohrrea is a common issue faced by women of reproductive age, and it is linked to Shweta Pradara, which refers to an excessive vaginal discharge. One type of Striroga that influences the daily lives of women is Swethapradara. Since it is regarded as a symptom of various Stri rogas or Yoni vyapads, Sthanika Chikitsa, as outlined in Striroga, is highly relevant to Swetha Pradara. Our Acharyas have described various forms of Sthanika Chikitsa across numerous Ayurvedic texts. These methods include Uttara Basti, Yoni Parisheka, Yoni Swedana, Yoni Pichu, Yoni Poorana, Yoni Dhavana, Yoni Dhoopana, Yoni Lepana, and Yoni Varti. In Sthanika Chikitsa, medications are administered intravaginally through various forms of therapies. The administration of medication via the vaginal route is the most preferred and accepted approach for addressing various reproductive health concerns. Modern treatments such as vaginal douching, suppositories, tampons, vaginal painting, and cauterization are seen as adaptations of Sthanika Chikitsa, as outlined in Ayurveda. Each method of Sthanika Chikitsa holds its own importance and shows significant effectiveness when applied with proper indications and stringent aseptic practices, necessitating meticulous care. Swetha Pradara is one condition where Sthanika Chikitsa has shown remarkable success in mitigating the disorder. This study offers a comprehensive examination of the localized therapies, or Sthanika Chikitsa, as put forward by Ayurveda experts. The methods of Sthanika Chikitsa are affordable, safe, and efficient, with no known adverse effects reported

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH, formerly NASH) is an inflammatory progressive liver disease that arises from metabolic dysfunction and hepatic steatosis, carrying risk of fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Lifestyle change is first-line prevention, but complementary approaches such as Ayurvedic Panchakarma, a system of individualized detoxification and rejuvenation therapies are increasingly investigated for prevention and early management of steatotic liver disease. This review synthesizes current understanding of MASH, maps it to Ayurvedic pathogenesis, reviews the putative mechanisms and available clinical/experimental evidence for Panchakarma, and proposes a pragmatic framework for integrating Panchakarma into prevention strategies while highlighting research gaps and safety considerations

    Ayurvedic Management of Chronic Eczema

Skin disorders are one of the major health issues in the present era. It is a multifaceted condition that includes the emotional and social impact on individuals, as it affects the psychological status of a person due to its appearance, severe itching, and disturbance to the daily routine. The prevalence of eczema is more common in rural areas than in urban ones. Eczema is an inflammatory reaction of the skin, characterized by variable itching and soreness, crusting, dryness, erythema, excoriation, exudation, fissuring, hyperpigmentation, lichenification, oozing, scaling, and vesiculation. No satisfactory treatment is available in contemporary medical practice except antihistamines and topical steroids. As it is a common chronic skin condition, it can lead to recurrent infections and poor quality of life if left untreated. The clinical features can be correlated to Vicharchika in Ayurveda, as it is characterized by Kandu, Srava, Pidaka, and Shyava Varna. It has been described under Kshudra Kushthas and is a Rakta Pradoshaja Vikara, involving three Doshas with Kapha predominance. A 36-year-old female patient presented with clinical features of diffuse hyperpigmented skin lesions on both lower limbs, associated with severe itching and a burning sensation for the past six years. The case was diagnosed as Vicharchika. The patient was treated following the principles of Rakta Pradoshaja Vikara (Kustha), i.e., Sroto Shodhana (purification of channels) and Dosha Shamana (pacification of doshas) Chikitsa, resulting in significant improvement in clinical symptoms

Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory condition primarily affecting the spine, leading to stiffness, pain, and restricted mobility, its impact on quality of life can be significant. This case report presents the management of a 20-year-old male diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, who presented with stiffness, pain, and restricted range of motion of the back. The patient was treated on the line of treatment of Vatavyadhi with a combination of Ayurvedic therapies including Prushtha dhara (pouring a stream of medicated oil over spine), Patrapinda swedana (Pottali sudation with medicated leaves), Matra basti (enema with medicated oil) and Shaman Aushadh (palliative treatment) alleviating the Vata Dosha. Significant relief was observed, evidenced by the Schober\u27s test turning negative and a substantial improvement in spinal flexion. While this case study offers encouraging results, further research through more case reports and planned clinical trials is warranted to establish the efficacy of Ayurvedic approaches in managing Ankylosing Spondylitis

A Comparative Study on the Phyto-Acoustic Influence of Mantras on Seed Germination and Early Plant Development

Sound-based plant stimulation is recognized as a novel tool in agricultural biotechnology. Vrikshayurveda, the ancient Indian science of plant life, describes the use of mantras and vibrational practices to enhance seed vitality, germination, and crop productivity. This study investigates the scientific validity of mantra-induced phyto-acoustic modulation on germination and early vegetative growth of Trigonella foenum-graecum (Methika). Objectives: To assess the impact of daily exposure to two Sanskrit mantras- Om Sri Matre Namah and Dakshinamurthy Gayatri Mantra- on germination rate, sprouting time, root and shoot elongation, and overall plant vigor. Methods: Forty seeds were divided into a control group (n=20) and an experimental mantra-exposed group (n=20). The experimental group received one hour of mantra exposure (108 repetitions each) daily for 15 days under controlled environmental conditions. Quantitative and qualitative growth parameters were recorded and analyzed. Results: Mantra exposure significantly accelerated germination, reduced sprouting time, and produced greater shoot (5.5–6 cm vs. 2–3 cm) and root length (4.5–5 cm vs. ~2 cm) compared to controls. Plants in the experimental group demonstrated superior morphological uniformity, better root architecture, and enhanced foliage density. Conclusion: Mantras serve as effective phyto-acoustic stimulants capable of enhancing early plant development. Findings support the principles of Vrikshayurveda, which recognize sound, intention, and vibrational influences as modulators of plant vitality. This study strengthens the scientific foundation for integrating acoustic and Vrikshayurvedic practices into sustainable agriculture

Add on Effect of Kulatha Yusha and Clinical Yoga Protocol in Vataja Pratishyaya with special reference to Allergic Rhinitis - A Comparative Clinical Trial

Allergic Rhinitis is an IgE mediated immunological response of nasal mucosa to airborne allergens and is characterized by watery nasal discharge, nasal obstruction, sneezing and itching in the nose. The symptoms are closely related with Vātaja Pratiśyāya. Pratiśyāya is one among the Viruddha āhārajanya rōga mentioned by Caraka. Hence dietary modification can be useful in reducing allergic rhinitis symptoms. Kulatha yūṣa is one among the dietary preparations mentioned in Nāsā rōga pratiṣedha adhyāya of Aṣtānga Hṛdaya, and Kulatha yūṣa is indicated in Pīnasa as well. Clinical yoga training is also proven to lower allergic rhinitis symptoms and to improve the quality of life. Considering these factors as improving allergic rhinitis symptoms, the present study is to compare the add on effect of Kulatha yūṣa and clinical yoga protocol in the subjective and objective parameters of participants with allergic rhinitis receiving Haridrā khaṇḍa against the group receiving Haridrā khaṇḍa alone. The subjective parameters in study group showed statistically significant result when compared to control group (p<0.05) but a statistically insignificant result was obtained for objective parameters in the study group when compared with the control group. Hence Kulatha yūṣa and clinical yoga protocol has an add on effect in the subjective parameters of participants receiving Haridrā khaṇḍa when compared to participants receiving Haridrā khaṇḍa alone. Also, Kulatha yūṣa and clinical yoga protocol has no add on effect in the objective parameters of participants receiving Haridrā khaṇḍa when compared to participants receiving Haridrā khaṇḍa alone

Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated inflammatory skin disorder influenced by genetic, environmental, and dietary factors. In Ayurveda, the condition Sidhma often compared with psoriasis due to similarities in symptomatology. This case explores the correlation between psoriasis and Viruddhahara (incompatible diet), along with the influence of environmental stresses, aligning with Ayurvedic pathogenesis. Materials and Methods: Here we report a case of Viruddhaharajanaya sidhma. Patient presented with erythematous, scaly plaques over the trunk and extremities for the last 8 years. The condition diagnosed clinically and histopathological as chronic plaque psoriasis. A detailed dietary and lifestyle history revealed prolonged consumption of incompatible food combinations (tinned juices and curd and meat on daily basis). Patient was assessed using Ayurvedic diagnostic tools, and the condition was correlated with Sidhma as described in classical text. Management included Dipana pacana, Shodhana (Virecana), and followed by Shamana cikitsa. Results: Within three weeks, a significant reduction in itching, scaling, and erythema was observed. The Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI) score reduced from 49 to 7.8. The patient was advised to follow pathya (compatible dietary regimen) and avoid Viruddhahara
