Foucault (tout) contre Freud et Lacan
International audience"Michel Foucault a manifesté un intérêt précoce pour la psychanalyse. Non sans lien avec son mal-être et la nécessité de devoir faire avec son homosexualité, l’amenant aux portes de la folie. Dès ses années de formation à Normale Sup’ ou dans le cadre de ses cours à Ulm au début des années 1950, il a lu de nombreux ouvrages de Freud, principalement dans leur traduction française. S’il s’enthousiasme pour l’article de Jacques Lacan sur «Le stade du miroir comme formateur de la fonction du Je», les archives montrent qu’il a peu fréquenté son célèbre contemporain.Cet essai n’aurait pourtant pas pu s’intituler Foucault et la psychanalyse. La psychanalyse de Foucault est en effet incommensurable avec la psychanalyse. Pour des raisons peut-être liées à sa socialisation primaire dans un milieu familial de chirurgiens hostile aux «sciences de l’esprit» ou à ses compagnonnages philosophiques, il est resté au seuil d’une appréhension juste – de l’intérieur – de la psychanalyse. Cette dernière jouit d’un rôle plus stratégique et synthétique dans son dispositif d’analyse, adossé à la notion de savoir-pouvoir, quand elle ne se résume pas à un débinage mondain de la mode intellectuelle du divan qui cible davantage les «Lacaniens» que la psychanalyse.À ce titre, La Volonté de savoir (1976) ne constitue pas un tournant bien plus critique de la psychanalyse ; au contraire, cet ouvrage, qui a constitué le premier volume de sa magistrale Histoire de la sexualité, s’inscrit dans une certaine continuité avec ses écrits de jeunesse qui témoignent d’un malaise foncier avec l’hypothèse de l’inconscient." Motor memory under sleep deprivation: Can physical exercise support consolidation?
Abstract Sleep deprivation (SD) is increasingly prevalent and known to impair declarative memory, yet its impacts on the acquisition and consolidation of procedural skills remains unknown. Physical exercise has emerged as a promising intervention for promoting learning and plasticity, but its potential to mitigate SD-induced deficits has never been tested. Here, we investigated whether SD disrupts sequential motor learning (SML) and whether high-intensity interval exercise (HIIE) performed after acquisition can influence consolidation. Forty-eight participants were randomly assigned to one of four groups combining one night of SD or normal sleep condition with HIIE or control intervention. SD elevated cortisol and sleepiness without affecting brain-derived neurotrophic factor or corticospinal excitability. Behaviorally, SD selectively impaired the movement time execution of SML acquisition, while HIIE reduced the movement accuracy during consolidation, regardless of sleep condition. These findings reveal a component-specific vulnerability of procedural memory to SD and challenge the assumption that exercise consistently enhances consolidation following motor learning

International audienceOver its nearly 70 years of existence, electroacoustic music has evolved into a sophisticated, complex, and diverse field characterised by intricate interrelations with emerging technologies, urban sustainability, ecological considerations, intercultural practices, and innovative research methodologies. For example, recent investigations in artificial intelligence or quantum computing have revealed new paradigms for composition, analysis, and performance of electroacoustic music, while studies on urban dynamics and ecological impacts are reshaping our understanding of the sonic environment. Moreover, contemporary research in intercultural studies and creative inquiry has opened novel avenues for rethinking both music analysis and creation.In this context, EMS 2025 invites contributions that critically examine the numerous interstitial spaces where technology, urban studies, ecology, and cultural studies converge in the practice and critique of electroacoustic music. Key questions include: How are emerging computing methodologies (AI, QC…) redefining compositional practices, performance strategies, and sonic design? In what ways do urban sustainability and ecological imperatives inform (or not) both the practice and critique of electroacoustic music? What insights do diverse cultural perspectives provide in the evolution of electroacoustic aesthetics? How can novel analytical tools and collaborative practices bridge disciplinary divides to stimulate innovative musical experiments

Introduction to Animal Communication
International audienceIn the latest edition of the encyclopedia, published in 2006, a thematic section dedicated to “animal communication” was created. Obviously, this topic has now earned its credentials in a linguistic encyclopedia and is no longer the exclusive domain of ethologists and researchers in animal behavior. Animal communication (including human and interspecies communication) is a relevant area of research for studying social, cognitive and linguistic phenomena. Beyond researchers in animal behavior, such a theme is therefore likely to be of interest to linguists (the primary audience of this encyclopedia) as well as to philosophers of language, psychologists, and researchers in the social sciences
Epidémiologie des arboviroses en Guinée
Arthropod-borne viral diseases represent an increasing threat to global public health due to their expanding geographical distribution and the rising incidence of infections. The risk of arboviral transmission is expected to further increase as a result of climate change, human mobility, and other socio-environmental factors. In Africa, the true burden of arboviral infections remains largely underestimated owing to their clinical similarity with other febrile illnesses, the lack of appropriate diagnostic tools, and limited surveillance capacity. This doctoral research documented the extent of circulation of several arboviruses in Guinea through a population-based seroprevalence survey conducted among individuals aged five years and above across the eight administrative regions of the country. It also assessed the knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions of medical personnel working in public health facilities in Conakry regarding arboviral infections. The findings revealed high seroprevalence rates in the general population for several arboviruses, including ZIKV, WNV, and USUV, for which no outbreaks had been previously reported, with marked heterogeneity across regions and age groups. Moreover, the study highlighted insufficient awareness and knowledge among medical staff about these infections. These results indicate that arboviruses silently contribute to morbidity in Guinea and emphasise the urgent need to strengthen national capacities in epidemiological and entomological surveillance, as well as to integrate reliable diagnostic tools. They provide a scientific basis for the development of prevention strategies, vector control programmes, and epidemic preparedness plans, as well as for guiding vaccination priorities. Finally, further multidisciplinary research integrating epidemiological, entomological, environmental, and climatic data is required to better understand transmission dynamics and to inform targeted public health interventions.Les maladies virales transmises par les arthropodes constituent une menace croissante pour la santé publique mondiale en raison de leur expansion géographique et de l’augmentation de leur incidence. Le risque d’infection par les arbovirus devrait encore s’accroître sous l’effet du changement climatique, de la mobilité humaine et d’autres facteurs socio-environnementaux. En Afrique, la charge réelle des infections à arbovirus demeure largement sous-estimée, en raison de la similitude clinique avec d’autres maladies fébriles, du manque d’outils diagnostiques adaptés et des capacités limitées de surveillance. Cette recherche doctorale a documenté l’ampleur de la circulation de plusieurs arbovirus en Guinée à travers une enquête de séroprévalence menée chez les individus âgés de cinq ans et plus dans les huit régions administratives du pays, et a évalué les connaissances, attitudes et perceptions du personnel médical des structures publiques de Conakry face aux arboviroses. Les résultats révèlent une forte séroprévalence en population générale pour plusieurs arbovirus, dont le ZIKV, le WNV et l’USUV, pour lesquels aucune épidémie n’avait été rapportée, avec une hétérogénéité marquée selon les régions et les groupes d’âge. Par ailleurs, l’étude met en évidence une connaissance insuffisante du personnel médical concernant ces infections. Ces résultats indiquent que les arbovirus contribuent silencieusement à la morbidité en Guinée et soulignent la nécessité de renforcer les capacités nationales en surveillance épidémiologique et entomologique, ainsi que l’intégration d’outils diagnostiques fiables. Ils fournissent une base scientifique pour la définition de stratégies de prévention, de lutte antivectorielle et de préparation aux futures épidémies, ainsi que pour l’orientation des priorités vaccinales. Enfin, des recherches complémentaires intégrant des données épidémiologiques, entomologiques, environnementales et climatiques sont nécessaires afin de mieux comprendre la dynamique de transmission et d’adapter les interventions de santé publique

Planar pulsating traveling wave solutions of non-cooperative Fisher--KPP systems in space-time periodic media
International audienceNon-cooperative Fisher-KPP systems with space-time periodic coefficients are motivated for instance by models for structured populations evolving in periodic environments. This paper is concerned with entire solutions describing the invasion of open space by a persistent population at constant speed. These solutions are important in the understanding of long-time behaviors for the Cauchy problem. Adapting methods developed for scalar equations satisfying the comparison principle as well as methods developed for systems with homogeneous coefficients, we prove, in each spatial direction, the existence of a critical speed such that: there exists no almost planar generalized transition waves with a smaller speed; if the direction is rational, each rational speed not smaller than the critical speed is the speed of a planar pulsating traveling wave with time and transverse space periodicity; if the coefficients are homogeneous in space, each speed not smaller than the critical speed is the speed of a planar pulsating traveling wave with time periodicity
