A set of prescriptive design principles to support community currencies as commons
International audienceAfter the 2008 financial crisis, the role of money and the structure of modern monetary systems have become subject to renewed scrutiny. The existing system, marked by extensive financialisation, power concentration, and rising social inequality, is considered incompatible with social justice and ecological sustainability goals. Consequently, decentralised monetary initiatives have emerged as alternatives reshaping and rethinking the nature and governance of money. Of these initiatives, locally managed community currencies (CCs) have risen to prominence, as they view money as a commons designed to serve community needs rather than generate profit. However, the design and governance of CCs remain underdeveloped due to either too broad design principles or empirical insights lacking a theoretical foundation. This study proposes a structured set of design principles, which link theoretical insights to practical guidance. Drawing on a design science approach in a European project, we develop four actionable design principles that guide local communities in creating and adapting CCs to their respective socioeconomic contexts. By integrating insights from contemporary CC literature and practitioners' guidance research, this study offers a flexible yet structured toolkit for designing, deploying, and maintaining CCs. The framework emphasises the importance of balancing technological opportunities with community needs, ensuring the association of CCs with local realities and collective goals. This study helps redefine and design money as a democratic, socially embedded institution capable of fostering equity, resilience, and ecological transition. As such, it contributes to design science knowledge about solving the problem of societal and ecological transformation.</div

Quantum Mechanics on Lie Groups: I. Noncommutative Fourier Transforms
International audienceStarting from square-integrable wave functions on a Lie group, we build an invertible Fourier transform mapping them on wave functions on the dual of the Lie algebra. This is a group-theoretic version of the map from position space to momentum space, with generally noncommuting momenta owing to the group structure. As a result, the multiplication of momentum-dependent functions involves star products, which makes the construction of noncommutative Fourier series much more involved than that of their commutative cousin. We show that our formalism provides an isometry of Hilbert spaces, and use it to derive a noncommutative Poisson summation formula for any compact Lie group. This is a key preliminary for the computation of Wigner functions and path integrals for quantum systems on group manifolds
Morpho-phonetic effects in <irr-> prefixed words in British and American English
International audienceThis paper presents a large-scale study of the duration of the first two segments inwords beginning with the orthographic sequence (e.g., irrational, irremovable)using speech data from British English and American English. We investigate theeffects of several predictors encoding the extent to which these words are segmentableinto their constituent parts using a dataset of over 1,500 audio extracts. When usingcategorical predictors to code segmentability, we find effects that are consistent withthe literature: more segmentable words have longer segments in the prefix and at theprefix-base boundary. We also report mixed results regarding measures of frequencyas proxies of segmentability, in line with the available literature. We also report effectsof non-morphological factors: [ô] is overall longer in American English than in BritishEnglish, and we find longer [ô] durations for male speakers than for female speakers
Phase I(b) study evaluating the safety and efficacy of intratumoral agonistic anti-CD40 (selicrelumab) in combination with anti-PD-L1 (atezolizumab) in patients with refractory or relapsed B-cell lymphoma (ITSELF trial)
International audienceBACKGROUND: The efficacy of immune checkpoint blockade therapy requires pre-existing antitumor immunity. Defective antigen presentation during the priming phase can reduce the generation of tumor-specific T cells, which are necessary during the effector phase and subsequent tumor elimination. We propose an in situ immunization strategy to enhance direct tumor antigen presentation by the lymphoma B cells via cluster of differentiation (CD)40 stimulation in order to sensitize B-cell lymphoma to programmed cell death protein 1/programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) blockade therapy.MATERIALS AND METHODS: ITSELF is a multicenter, open-label, dose-escalation phase Ib trial of intratumoral selicrelumab, an agonistic anti-CD40 monoclonal antibody, every 3 weeks for three cycles in combination with intravenous atezolizumab, an antagonistic anti-PD-L1 monoclonal antibody, at 1200 mg every 3 weeks for three cycles followed by intravenous atezolizumab monotherapy for a total of 12 months in patients with relapsed/refractory B-cell lymphoma. RESULTS: Two patients with follicular lymphoma and two patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma were enrolled at the first dose level of 1 mg intratumoral selicrelumab. Those four patients received the three cycles of intratumoral selicrelumab in combination with intravenous atezolizumab. Patients did not develop severe adverse events related to the drugs or the intratumoral procedures. No or low-grade adverse events were reported and related to atezolizumab or to the combination therapy. All patients discontinued the treatment because of disease progression according to Lugano 2014 criteria on their first positron emission tomography scan disease evaluation at the end of cycle 3 (week 9). The trial was stopped prematurely because of issues with selicrelumab drug supply.CONCLUSION: The combination of 1 mg of intratumoral selicrelumab and 1200 mg of intravenous atezolizumab was safe for patients with relapsed/refractory B-cell lymphoma and led to some tumor stabilization or regression, although it did not result in objective tumor response
