Ellumthippallyadi Lehya is one among the classical lehya formulation mentioned in sahasrayogam. Lehya formulations are often sticky, dense, and may have a strong odor, which can be unappealing, especially for sensitive individuals. Dosage accuracy can also vary with difference in consistency. Candies, though primarily consumed for taste and pleasure are increasingly being explored for their potential as carriers for therapeutic agents. Development of new dosage forms and ensuring their quality and safety through pharmaceutical standardization is essential for their acceptance especially in health focused formulations. Ellumthippallyadi Lehya Yoga was converted to a candy as a modified dosage form with a uniform weight of 3g. Machinery support was used for the production of candies. The drugs were taken in the ratio as mentioned in the reference. The constituents in one candy were adjusted considering the amount of Loha bhasma as 50 mg in each candy. The candies were made using palm sugar candy as base and liquid glucose was added for desired consistency. Elluthippallyadi Lehya Candy was subjected to standard pharmaceutical evaluations, including organoleptic properties, weight variation, and Disintegration time, pH, and heavy metal analysis using standard methods. The Ellumthippallyadi Lehya candy demonstrated compliance with standard pharmaceutical parameters and its other safety parameters ensured its potential as a convenient dosage form

Resolving Azoospermia (Shukra Kshaya) with an Ayurvedic Approach

Azoospermia, characterized by the absence of sperm in the ejaculate, is a significant contributor to male infertility. Traditional treatment approaches often combine hormonal therapies, surgical interventions and assisted reproductive techniques, yet not all cases resolve successfully. This paper explores a treatment approach using Ayurvedic therapies. The study focuses on a 37-year-old male diagnosed with azoospermia, initially presented with the symptoms of sleeplessness, fatigue and general weakness. The patient underwent a treatment regimen including Ayurvedic formulations over a period of six months. Post-treatment evaluations revealed significant improvements: total sperm concentration increased from nil to 28 million/ml, progressive motility improved to 50%, and sperm morphology normalized with 96% of sperm showing normal forms. Subjective symptoms also showed remarkable improvement with the Insomnia Severity Index score reducing from 18 to 8, and the Fatigue Severity Scale score reducing from 45 to 25. These findings suggest that integrating Ayurvedic medicine with conventional treatments can effectively enhance fertility outcomes and overall quality of life in patients with azoospermia. The study advocates for further research through larger clinical trials to validate and potentially standardize this integrative treatment approach

Asphaltum Punjabianum (Shilajit): Unraveling Myths with Scientific Evidence

Shilajit is a mineral-rich resin that has a long history of use as a rejuvenator (Rasayana) in Ayurvedic medicine to treat various ailments such as arthritis, infertility, and cognitive decline. Although it is becoming increasingly popular, with more scientific validations, many myths still surround its actual clinical potential. This review directly debunks several persistent myths about Shilajit based on a critical evidence-based analysis. Among the key myths addressed is the notion that only men should take Shilajit, that it is solely a sexual health enhancer, that it works acutely, and that its supplements can be contaminated, rendering them inherently unsafe or unnatural. According to scientific sources, Shilajit is beneficial for both men and women, and it has been proven to contribute to bone health, metabolic processes, antioxidation, and cognitive enhancement. Rather than acting as an acute stimulant, Shilajit functions more as a slow-acting adaptogen that must be taken continuously over several weeks to produce observable physiological adaptations. It is also well-tolerated even in very high doses, as indicated by its toxicological and clinical safety data, provided it is purified. The concerns regarding contamination are addressed through purification, with the majority of certified products meeting global safety standards. Secondary myths, including the belief that Shilajit causes constipation, is inadvisable to use in summer, or leads to kidney stones, are also disproven by clinical and preclinical evidence. Ultimately, one can conclude that Shilajit is an effective and safe multilateral nutraceutical with diverse therapeutic potential. This review advocates for its incorporation into modern healthcare through science-based, myth-busting integration and challenges clinicians to base their recommendations on usage grounded in empirical evidence and quality assurance

Medoroga, a condition which arises due to Medo dhatu vriddhi which may lead to Bahutwa and Abaddhatwa of Poshaka medo dhatu. It can be correlated to disease dyslipidemia based on pathophysiology. It is the need of the hour to contribute safer, effective and economical medicines to manage the condition. Main aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of Guduchyadi yoga and Navaka Guggulu in the management of Medoroga with special reference to dyslipidemia. Methods: The present study implemented an open-labelled, active controlled pre and post-test clinical study with 30 subjects (who fulfilled the diagnostic and inclusion criteria). A convenience sampling method was used for the selection. Subjects were randomly assigned into two groups, Group A (trial) and Group B (control) comprising of 15 subjects each. Subjects of Group A received Guduchyadi Yoga (50ml Kashaya with 1.5g of Guggulu) and Group B received Navaka Guggulu (2 tablets with warm water). Both interventions were given twice daily before food for duration of 30 days. A twelve-hour fasting sample of serum lipid profile and BMI were used to measure the efficacy before and after the treatment. Statistical analysis of parameters was assessed using Wilcoxon signed rank test (W), Friedman’s test, Mann Whitney U test (U), by paired t-test, repeated measures ANOVA test, unpaired t-test. Results: The trial drug showed statistically significant result in improving serum lipid profile and reducing BMI (P<0.05). Conclusion: The polyherbal formulation (Guduchyadi yoga) is effective in the management of Medoroga (dyslipidemia)
