Bruxism is defined as “diurnal or nocturnal parafunctional activity including clenching, bracing, gnashing, and grinding of the teeth.” The etiology of bruxism is unclear, but the condition has been associated with stress, occlusal disorders, allergies, and sleep positioning. The aetio-pathophysiology is still unclear. SB (Sleep Bruxism) has been associated with tooth interference, psychosocial and environmental factors, brain transmitters, and basal ganglia dysfunction. It is been reported that Sleep bruxism during all sleep stages, others observed the majority of bruxe episodes during light sleep and REM and are often associated with arousal transients. There is no specific treatment for sleep bruxism but each subject has to be individually evaluated and treated. Three management alternatives are used: dental, pharmacological, and psycho behavioural. Abhrak (mica) is an important mineral next to Parada and Gandhaka in Rasashashtra. It is counted under Maharasa Varga. Chemically, Abhrak is mainly a combination of iron, aluminum, silica, magnesium, potassium and zinc. Abhrak Bhasma has a wide range of therapeutic action in various diseases such as Kasa (cough), Swasha (asthma), Panduroga (anemia), Shwetapradara (white discharge) etc. Mainly two types of Abhrak i.e., Patra abhrak (Shweta Abhrak) and Krishna Abhrak are available in the market. Krishna or Vajrabhraka is exclusively taken for preparation of Abhrak Bhasma whereas use of Patrabhraka is restricted to the preparation of Rasamanikya etc. Aim and Objectives: There is difference in physical properties of both Abhraka, so the chemical composition needs to be assessed. To analyze this difference comparative XRF analyzation of Krishna and Patra Abhrak were carried out. Methods and Materials: Both Samples of Abhraka were procured from the market and sent for XRF study. Observation and Result: In XRF analysis, percentage of Fe2O3, MgO and CaO were higher in Krishna Abhrak whereas percentage of SiO2, and Al2O3 were high in Patra Abhrak. Conclusion: Higher percentage of ferrous and magnesium signifies the chemical composition of Krishna Abhraka. The presence of more silica and aluminum in Patra Abhraka states its heat stability for pharmaceutical purposes

Ayurveda is a holistic science of life described many fundamental principles related to the Dosha, Dushya, Srotasa, Vyadhi utpatti and Vyadhi cikitsa etc. Ayurveda furthermore presented many aspects related to the prevention of Vyadhi and avoidance of Nidanas in terms of Nidana parivarjana. Nidana plays a key role in manifestation of any diseases. Sometime disease itself acts as Nidana and plays a key role in the onset of another disease. This concept is undertaken by Acarya Caraka under the title Nidanarthakara roga (a disease itself become causative factor for some other disease). The disease manifest first is termed as primary disease, while disease manifest as consequence of primary disease termed as secondary disease. In the today’s time, it is crucial to know the Nidanarthkaratva of any disease. The presenting era is more challenging for medical sciences on account of emerging of various lifestyle diseases. Obesity is one among them. Unhealthy diet habit, sedentary lifestyles are the various Nidanas for Obesity. Now days obesity is burning issue for society due its critical consequences. Sometime obesity itself act as Nidana for various diseases e.g. hypertension, diabetes mellitus, infertility, heart diseases, some form of malignancies etc. To prevent these consequences, we have thorough knowledge of the obesity and it’s Nidanarthakaratva. Here an attempt made to enlighten the knowledge of Nidanarthakara vyadhi and to elaborate the Nidanarthakaratva of obesity

Nimbadi Kshaya Yoni Dhavan followed by Mahanimba Taila Pichu twice a day for seven days along with oral herbal formulation is prescribed to the patient. Results: After completion of the treatment protocol patient got relief in her symptoms like itching in vulvar region and white discharge per vaginum. Conclusion: In Kaphaja Yonivyapada, especially Trichomonas Vaginitis Ayurvedic management by the use of Mahanimba (Melia azedarach) containing formulations for Sthanik Chikitsa are quite effective as Mahanimba is having Krimighna and Kandughna properties

A Review on the Conceptual Understanding of Hypertension in Ayurveda

    Get PDF
Due to rapid modernization there are changes in the life style in terms of habits and food intake, due to which there is alteration in the metabolism leading to various metabolic disorders. Hypertension is considered to be one among them. Ayurveda emphasis completely on Dosha-Dushya vivechana rather than one entity like Nidanas. There are no direct references in our classical texts explaining about Hypertension. Thus one should understand the concept of Hypertension in Ayurveda based on functions of Doshas and Dhatus like Vyana Vata, Pranavata, Rasa-Rakta-Medo dhatu mechanism. As many research works have been conducted on this to understand this condition in detail, it can be comparable to Uccha Raktachaapa, Vyana bala Vaishamya, Dhamani Upalepa etc. As there are different versions of explanation available on this condition in terms of physiological and pathological aspects, a review is done in this article by compiling different versions explained by Acharyas in the Samhitas and different authors in the contemporary and Ayurveda text books for better understanding of the concept, which is fruitful in the line of management. The concept of Vyana vayu in relation to Gatavata, Hridaya in relation Dhamani upalepa the mechanism of occurrence is detailed in the article

Mutrakriccha is a big health concern these days as a result of infection, an irregular lifestyle, and poor eating habits. Mutra marga gat Strotas defined Ayurveda as being related to urinary tract infections. Mutrakriccha is a sickness documented in nearly all Ayurvedic classics in which a patient has severe and uncomfortable burning micturition. Mutrakriccha is classified into eight types, each with its own set of signs and symptoms, and may be linked to dysuria. Antibiotics are now widely used to treat the condition. However, many side effects and antibiotic resistance developed. As a result, treating the condition becomes more complicated. In Mutrakriccha Vyadhi, Gokshur is a more effective medicine. The medications used in the treatment of Mutrakriccha have been documented in numerous Ayurvedic texts. I conducted a 90-day Mutrakriccha clinical study on 20 participants. The outcomes are as follows: For B.D., these 20 patients were treated with Gokshur Mool Churna. One patient dropped out of the experiment. Out of the 19 patients who completed treatment, 12 (63.16%) were cured, 5 (26.32%) were moderately improved, and 2 (10.53%) were mildly improved

    Get PDF
Samskara is a key drug formulation technique in which a formulation is altered based on the Prakriti of the person and disease. Many types of Samskara have been mentioned among them Bhajana samsakara the unique one where container plays an important role in drug formulation. Different types of Bhajana techniques include cooking, resting, and storing. resting is a process in which Kalaka/Kwatha of pharmaceuticals is leaved or applied to various metal surfaces in order to fortified the properties of that metal into that formulation. A review of Bhajana samskara, specifically using the Lepana or resting technique, has been completed, and the possible role of different metals on different formulations has been examined. For this, various Samhitas, ancient books and an online search for the Lepana technique have been reviewed. This is a unique formulation approach that should be standardized, and study should also be conducted with other specific metals that have health benefits
