Management of Shwitra (Vitiligo) Through Ayurveda
A condition of acquired macular depigmentation called vitiligo is linked to melanocyte degeneration, caused by the autoimmune destruction of melanocytes cells. This vitiligo can be correlated to Shwitra in Ayurveda because of the disease\u27s resemblance in appearance. In the Ayurveda classics especially Charaka Samhita, Shwitra has been mentioned under the heading of Kushta Roga Chikitsa. Methodology: The present case report is of 11 years old female child, came with complaints of whitish discolored patches on the almost all over body, effectively treated with Shamana and Shodhana Chikitsa. Result: Patient showed encouraging result after Shodhana Chikitsa, where subjective criteria evaluated using scoring method and objective criteria evaluated using VASI scoring method. Discussion: Patient was treated with Shamana Aushadis and Shodhana, where white discolored patches turned to pinkish, and after that the patches turned into normal skin color. Subject was observed with 95% improvement in subjective criteria & VASI scoring improved from 19.85 to 3.2. Conclusion: The present case study validated the efficacy of Ayurveda medicine in treating Shwitra
Management of Ahiputana (Diaper Rash) though Triphala Khadir Yog (TKY) Avachoornan
Ayurveda is an ancient medical system that addresses both the state of Swasthya, or optimal human health, and a broad range of illnesses and associated therapies. One of the most frequent issues in pediatric OPD is diaper rash. According to Ashang Hridaya, Maloplep (contained faeces) and Sweda (sweat/perspiration) both causes Kandu (irritability), Daha (burning sensation) and Tamra Varna (redness), Strava (discharge), Vrana (wound formation around the perianal region), Pidika (papulovesicular lesion) around the Guda area (napkin area). In Ahiputana there is Pitta, Kapha and Rakta Dosha Prakop (increase). In present case report, a 11-month-old female baby patient presented in Balrog OPD 13 of Sane Guruji Rugnalaya, Hadapsar, Pune, with complaints of loose motion episodes, itching and redness associated with discharge and burning sensation for 3 days and was treated with external application of Triphala Khadir Yoga. After complete treatment of 10 days, there was complete remission in the symptoms and there is no recurrence till date. From the current case report, it can be inferred that Ahiputana (diaper rash) can be successfully treated with the appropriate Ayurveda medications
Silajathu Rasayana in Management of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid Arthritis is a systemic autoimmune disease characterized by inflammatory arthritis and extra-articular involvement. Considering the pathophysiology, clinical features, and extra-articular manifestations it can be correlated to Vataraktha in Ayurveda. In this case, a 24-year-old female patient who was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 15 and was under Disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug therapy for several years, complaints of pain and swelling over symmetrical joints of upper and lower limbs along with morning stiffness, and evident boutonniere deformity. She also had pain in her left hip for 4 years. Ayurvedic treatment was initiated with a primary focus on Amapachana, Shodhana, and Rasayana therapies. Patient assessment was conducted using a Visual analog scale, DAS28 score, HAQ-DI score, and Ama assessment tool on the 0th and 69th day. DAS 28 score improved from 7.73 to 3.19, and HAQ-DI score improved from 1.63 to 0.88. The visual analog scale was improved from 8 to 4. Following 69 days of treatment incorporated with Ayurvedic treatment procedures coupled with Rasayana therapy, demonstrated a notable amelioration of symptoms, an enhancement in the overall quality of life, and an improvement in laboratory parameters
Management of Parkinson’s Disease (Kampavata) Through Panchakarma
Parkinson\u27s disease is a progressive degenerative neurological disorder mainly affecting geriatric population. The most crucial signs and symptoms of Parkinson’s disease arise while the nerve cells in basal ganglia, an area of mind that controls the movement grow to be impaired or die. When these neurons die or get impaired, they generally tend to produce much less amount of vital chemical in the brain known as Dopamine which causes numerous signs and symptoms like tremors, rigidity in muscular tissues, akinesia and postural disability related to numerous cognitive, behavioural and other mental signs. In Ayurveda due to similar disease presentation, Parkinson\u27s disease can be compared with Kampavata. Kampavata has been described under Vataja Nanatmaja Vyadhi. Various Panchakarma therapies have been mentioned in classics for the treatment of Kampavata like Abhyanga, Swedana, Niruha Basti, Anuvasana Basti, Shirobasti and Virechana. In this case study, a 68 years old male patient came to ITRA Hospital having complaints of tremors in both upper limbs, difficulty in speech and slowness of movements since last 10 years. He was already diagnosed with Pankinson\u27s disease and is receiving allopathy treatment for the same since last 10 years. Here he was given treatment like Abhyanga, Swedana, Matra Basti and Nasya for 21 days. The patient got moderate improvement in his signs and symptoms. It was concluded with the study that Panchakarma therapies has been found beneficial in improving quality of life of patient

Pharmaceutical Preparation and Preliminary Analysis of Shweta Parpati Mentioned in Different Classics
Rasa Shastra, a crucial branch of Ayurveda, emphasizes the therapeutic applications of herbo-mineral and metallic preparations. Shweta Parpati (SP), mentioned in many Ayurvedic classics, is renowned for treating conditions such as Mutrakricchra (urinary problems), Ashmari (renal stones), Yakritvikara (hepatic disorders) etc. This study aims to prepare and evaluate five different samples of SP based on classical references to ensure their quality and difficulties in pharmaceutical preparation. Materials and Methods: Five methods selected from texts like Siddhabheshajamanimala (SBM), Bhaishajya ratnavali (BR), Rastantrasaar & Siddhaprayoga Sangraha (RTSSPS), Siddhayogasangraha (SYS), Rasoddharatantra (RDT) were followed, utilizing Suryakshara (potassium nitrate), Sphatika (potash alum), Gandaka (sulphur), Navasadara (ammonium chloride), Tankana (borax), Karpura (camphor), and Gandaka ka shudda tijab (sulfuric acid) in different proportions, pharmaceutical steps, and ingredient combinations. Ingredients were meticulously processed, heated, and solidified under controlled conditions. Yield and analytical parameters of each formulation were recorded according to API reference. Results: SBM reference produced brittle flakes with brownish spots, yielding 71.42%. BR resulted in very hard flakes with 54.66% yield. RTSSPS achieved thin, brittle flakes with nearly 89.77% yield. SYS produced hard flakes, yielding 73.68%. RDT yielded arduous flakes with a 69.85% yield. Analytical results showed significant variations in physicochemical properties, highlighting the diverse impacts of these traditional texts on preparation techniques. Conclusion: Standardizing these methods is essential to ensure consistency and reliability in clinical applications. Future research should focus on refining these techniques and exploring their clinical benefits in more depth
Ayurvedic Management of Dushta Vrana (Varicose Ulcer) with Dashanga Lepa
A wound, also known as a Vrana, is a condition where the body\u27s tissues are damaged in a specific way, and after repair, the tissues become discolored, resulting in a permanent scar. Varicose ulcers are caused by persistent venous occlusion. A varicose leg ulcer occurs when blood recirculates through venous valves due to ischemia in the leg\u27s vascular supply, caused by this insufficiency. Ignoring these lesions could lead to gangrene and infection. According to Ayurveda, varicose ulcers are associated with \u27Sira Janya Dusta Vrana.\u27 In the medical field, "Lepa" can be described as a therapeutic approach where medications are applied externally to alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, or speed up recovery. This case report on varicose ulcers includes the patient\u27s complete medical history, necessary laboratory tests, and clinical and physical examinations. The patient undergoes daily dressings on an OPD basis and is treated with various internal medications along with external procedures like the application of Lepa. After the administration of Lepa, the wound healed, and other symptoms improved significantly

Diabetic neuropathy is one of the most common microvascular complications of diabetes mellitus. It has a significant impact in lowering quality of life (QOL) of diabetic patients. Currently, there is no effective management rather than tight blood sugar control. Hence an effective management for diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) has to be deduced. A 41‑year‑old female patient, who was a known case of diabetes mellitus presenting with the symptoms of diabetic peripheral neuropathy was treated with a combination of Ayurvedic internal as well as external therapies, considering the treatment protocol of Prameha upadrava and Vatarakta chikitsa. The symptoms were assessed before and after treatment using the Toronto Clinical Scoring System. Significant improvement was seen in all the scores after the treatment. This case elicited that DPN can be successfully managed by Ayurvedic treatment
Effect of Virechana on CRP in a Patient of Metabolic Syndrome
Metabolic Syndrome is a result of metabolic impairment involving multiple systemic manifestations. Over nourishment, deposition of visceral fat, physical inactivity, sedentary lifestyle, genetic predisposition, familial tendency, mismanagement of physical or mental stress, irregular sleep- wake cycle, etc. These metabolic errors are actually resulted by indulging in the etiological factors that cause Medodushti in turn leading to Medoroga. Such etiological factors are called as Santarpana karaka Nidanas which include the food articles that are rich in Snigdhamsha, Madhura rasa, Guru and Pichchila gunas and also the activities that favour excessive nourishment and deposition of Meda Dhatu. This abnormally nourished Medo dhatu will contain Ama which further damages to manifest into metabolic syndrome. Virechana is a type of Shodhana Karma – Biopurification process that is potent enough to cleanse the channels and bring vitality to the Dhatus in the body. It is said to be improving bioavailability of medicines by cleansing at intestinal level and also by enhancing the demand and supply mechanism at tissue level. By removing the debris and unwanted accumulations in the channels, Virechana acts as Sroto vishodhaka and Medo hara also. By removing excess Kledamsha from the body, it reduces oedema, inflammation and also improves tissue permeability. Aim: To assess the effect of Virechana in metabolic syndrome, dyslipidaemia. Methodology: Administration of Amapachana followed by Virechana karma. Result: There was marked improvement in signs, symptoms and biochemical parameters after intervention. Conclusion: Virechana is significantly effective on altered levels of lipids, elevated blood sugar level and also raised ESR
A Classical Review on Metal Toxicity with special reference to Dhatu Varga
