A Case Series on Importance of Rukshana Therapy in Spinal Pathology

    No full text
Spinal pathologies like cervical spondylosis and lumbar spondylosis have become very much prevalent due to lifestyle and environmental factors. Neck pain and low back pain is the leading cause of years lived with disabilities. Ayurveda always insisted on intervening at the early stage of every disease so that the progress of pathology can be prevented. To counteract these conditions, Ayurveda has put forth six-fold treatment methodologies called Shadupakrama. Rukshana is one among them which can be used as both Bahiparimarjana and Antahparimarjana chikitsa. With Rukshana therapy, the body’s oily, sticky, fatty constituents are dried up and reduced. In this case series, three cases related to spinal pathology, especially cervical and lumbar spondylosis were successfully treated by incorporating the principle of Rukshana. Initially, the condition was visualized as Kaphavruta Vata/Vataanubandha Kapha. Hence the first line of treatment should be Kaphavatahara.  Apart from these there is the involvement of Ama in the Samprapthi and considering all these factors internally Rukshana was attained via oral medications and externally by Rukshana upakrama. After the Rukshana therapy patient shows marked improvement, assessments were recorded by comparing the grade of pain, joint tenderness, and range of motion before and after treatment. Notable changes are evidence that the Ayurvedic way of approach to treating spinal disorders is effective and successful. After Rukshana karma, Snigdha bahya karma was adopted along with some internal medications

Salmonella typhi, the causative organism of typhoid fever, remains a major global public health concern. Despite the availability of conventional antibiotics, the emergence of antibiotic-resistant strains of Salmonella typhi poses a serious challenge in combating this infectious pathogen. As a result, the exploration of alternative therapeutic options, such as traditional herbal remedies, has gained prominence. Bharangyadi Yoga is a combination of specific herbal ingredients, used in traditional medicine system to address various types of fever and related ailments as mentioned in Sahasrayogam, has to be prepared and administered in the form of Kashaya. In vitro antibacterial activity of Bharangyadi Kashaya and Bharangyadi Arka was carried out by well diffusion method with different concentrations against Salmonella typhi and the area of inhibition of microbial growth is measured. Moderate zone of inhibition was observed in Arka, while no zone of inhibition was seen in any of the concentration of Kashaya. The antibacterial effectiveness of Bharangyadi Arka can be attributed to its volatile and other aqueous extract content, enhanced solubility and release of volatile active constituents. In this study, Arka is established to have better antibacterial activity compare to Kashaya as a new dosage form. However, Negative antibacterial result of Kashaya does not indicate lack of therapeutic effectiveness

Every nation\u27s foundation is its children, and that nation\u27s top priority is to ensure their health. Their early years of life are characterized by their development and growth. The first few years of life are the most important time because of the fast growth and development that is common at this age and necessitates ongoing observation. During this time, roughly 40% of physical growth and 80% of mental development take place. Any obstacle they face at this age could severely restrict their ability to develop and grow. A child who lacks access to health care during these formative years is denied the chance to develop into a healthy adult, and the harm caused in the early years may be permanent or in the long run. Children under the age of five continue to die from ailments that are treatable or preventable. Despite the significant progress in immunization to strengthen the immune system, medical research has not yet developed a fully effective defense against virulent organisms, and occasionally we fail in the struggle for survival. To understand the primary causes of death and the carers\u27 patterns of seeking medical attention before the deaths of such children, a cross-section study encompassing the area of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, was done. The survey was conducted on 1000 children living in the surroundings of the Post Graduate Institute of Ayurved, Dr. S. R. Rajasthan Ayurved University, Jodhpur. Demographic studies show that Respiratory tract Infection is the main cause of morbidity in children. In Respiratory tract Infection recurrent cough, recurrent running nose, recurrent nasal obstruction, recurrent sore throat, and breathlessness are included. Out of which maximum number of children suffered from recurrent running nose

An Ayurvedic Perspective About Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

    Get PDF
Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a neuromuscular disease. This is an X-linked recessive disease caused by mutations in the dystrophin protein gene located on the short arm of the X chromosome, in the Xp21 region. It causes progressive muscle weakness due to wasting of muscle fibers. It causes loss of ability to stand, walk, and move before age 10; most patients die in their 20s. Since there is no specific treatment in any medical system and the prognosis of the disease is uncertain, if we start treatment at an early stage, children with DMD can walk, it can slow or stop progressive muscle degeneration. DMD cannot be directly related to a single disease in Ayurveda. Most major neuromuscular disorders are determined by Vata dosha. In Ayurveda, this pathogenesis can be clearly understood by the concept of Adibala Pravrutta Vyadhi (genetic disease). Here the pathogenesis is due to Beeja Bhagavayava Dusti (partial chromosomal defect) leading to Mamsa Vata Dushti

The warning signs and symptoms include agitation, anxiety, irritability, and mild to moderate tremors. Seizure, hallucinations, delirium tremens are the most severe withdrawal symptoms. Ayurveda is a holistic approach which not only takes body into consideration but also mental status. Madatyaya is a wide term explained in our classics, while explaining Madya, Acharaya told that it has properties opposite to that of Ojus, so these substances causing depletion to our body resources can be correlated to Madatyaya. Besides that, the drug action also depends on the action of agni on that particular drug. In this article, a management protocol review on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease was carried out. The protocol selected and reviewed was Dipana with Panchakola curna in hot water, Snehapana with Kantakari ghrta, Abhyanga with Tila taila followed by Ushmasveda, Virecana with Vidangatanduladi curna and finally Pippali Vardhamana rasayana
