Sustainable Utilization of Marble Dust and Rice Husk Ash as a Partial Substitute for Fine Aggregate in Concrete
A sustainable method for partially substituting fine aggregate in concrete with marble dust and rice husk ash is described. This approach focuses on the utilization of these materials to minimize environmental impact while maintaining the integrity of the concrete structure. In this study, the fine aggregate was partially substituted with marble dust and rice husk ash. Additionally, sisal fiber was incorporated as secondary reinforcement for concrete at percentages of cement by weight. Concrete has good compressive strength but is weak in tension and bending. Thus, sisal fibers were added to enhance the mechanical properties. Sisal fibers were included at 0.1% and 0.2% of cement weight for varying percentages of mineral admixture substitution. 30% of cement was replaced with mineral admixtures, with replacement levels of 0%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 30% of marble dust and rice husk ash. The slump cone and compaction factor tests were performed on fresh concrete mixes to determine workability. Standard cubes, cylinders, and prisms were cast to evaluate the compressive, split tensile, and flexural strengths of the hardened concrete. The results show that the replacement of cement with marble dust and rice husk ash with sisal fiber as an additional reinforcing material shows considerable improvement in tensile and flexural strength. Preliminary observation of bacterial biofilm communities on plastic litters and their surface degradation in two coastal areas of Tuticorin, India
The accumulation of plastic litter in the marine environment is a growing ecological concern. Microorganisms can create a biofilm on the surface of plastic litters making them more hazardous. Although plastics are difficult to biodegrade, they can act as substrate for microorganism attachment. To investigate this problem, biofilm coated plastic litters such as covers, films and ropes were collected randomly from Muthunagar and Inigonagar in Tuticorin coastal areas and analysed using FTIR-ATR. The spectra obtained demonstrate the presence of Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP), Polystyrene (PS) and Polyamide (PA). The concentration of biofilm formed on the surface of plastics is higher in Inigonagar compared to Muthunagar coastal area. Investigations were also conducted into the bacterial development on the plastic surface and in the surrounding water and sediment. Several bacterial communities including human pathogens namely Faecal coliform, E. coli, Salmonella sp., Streptococcus sp., Staphylococcus sp., Pseudomonas sp., Bacillus sp., Klebsiella sp., and Vibrio sp. were found to be associated with the collected plastic litters. We confirmed the weathering of plastic litters by carbonyl and vinyl peaks formation. According to the Carbonyl Index values plastic litters collected from Inigonagar exhibit higher degree of degradation compared to Muthunagar coastal areas. The present study could provide significant baseline information for both plastic pollution and biofilm composition in Muthunagar and Inigonagar coastal areas
Empowering of Feminine in Indian Advertisements
In general, female stereotypes shape the advertising industry, and some recent studies suggest that other types of non-stereotype gender role representations in advertising can have many positive effects. The purpose of this study is to investigate the gender stereotypes of women in modern days advertising. Regardless of gender, there are many positive effects on the brand-related and social impact of non-stereotypic representations of the professional gender role in advertising to respondents. These results also show the format of these stereotypes about how women are portrayed in advertising. It is important that advertising supports gender equality by using positive expressions instead of harmful stereotypes. This study used content analysis to identify the different roles women play in Indian television advertising. Studies show that women are primarily portrayed in advertising as independent decision makers and users, and as an authority on the products being advertised and direct eye contact with customers in advertising and vocalization, and the product type of advertising
ESP32 Based Electric Energy Consumption Meter
In recent years, the Smart Energy Meter has attracted a lot of attention from all over the world. In this paper a design and prototyping a low-cost IoT energy monitoring is presented, which may be utilized in a variety of applications such as power billing, smart grid energy management, and home automation. The system is based on a low-cost ESP32 microcontroller that is interfaced non-invasive Current Transformer (CT) sensors, and voltage sensor to get data from sensor nodes and deliver it to a Blynk server over the internet. The studies' findings showed that the system for monitoring energy consumption can precisely record voltage, current, active power, and cumulative power consumption

Sri Lanka showed proven history of conserving richly endowed habitable natural capital that offers many eco-system services and essential launching pad for fast –track growth. This endowment could bring in desired economic and ecological improvements to living standards and for the well- being of future generations by sensibly put into sustainable use. Under the present development activities, country is facing major challenges of increasing severe climate change impacts, energy insecurity and ecological scarcity. Thus, present use of natural capital, carbon sequestration cyclic activities and forest enterprise are not fulfilling the conditions necessary for sustainability. International initiatives that have been taken and entry points for sustainable forest management and establishing of modern forest technologies are briefly discussed in this position paper to scope expansion of forestry enterprise development strategies. Thus, right policies for setting up right institutions of “Forest Development Authority” and “Forest Exchange System” and inter institutional set up of “Modern Forest Technology” for action in plan is justified
Hill Women-led Spring Water Management in Darjeeling Himalayan Region, West Bengal
Water crises is a major problem of Darjeeling, West Bengal, India where rainfall is plentiful. Darjeeling gets only one-third of its daily water requirement through municipal pipelines. The water supply network is mostly town centred so the peripheral areas are deprived of water. Private suppliers also supply water at Rs. 300/- per month per household. Darjeeling Municipality established in 1850 has a centralised water management infrastructure laid down between1910–30. The water supply system originates in Senchel Wildlife Sanctuary, located 15 kilometres upstream of Darjeeling with two lakes and a storage of 33 million gallons of water that is recharged by 26 springs. This centralised system fails to acknowledge the vibrant 90 odd natural springs in the town that people are dependent upon. These urban springs have diverse community-based management systems that have evolved over time and are now facing challenges of rapid urbanisation, market forces, upstream concretisation and contamination and reducing discharges. Due to deforestation which is leading to high runoff resulting to less recharge of groundwater. Women, are worst hit, as they have to travel miles to fetch water in this rugged terrainfor her family while their male counterpart are busy to make both ends meet. Every household maintains a kitchen garden whose water is also being procured by females through irrigation. Rooftop rainwater harvesting is the imperative way to mitigate the water crisis. Moreover, reuse, recycle and reducing wastage will help to mitigate this water crisis
Predicting Malicious Node Behavior in Wireless Network Using DSR Protocol and Network Metrics
This paper describes a set of network metrics are helpful to predict behavior of malicious node in wireless network. The Network and internet is the device in which multiple people can communicate with each other through the wired or wireless media. Nowadays, Internet of Things, Mobile, vehicular, and wireless ad hoc networks all merge into one shared network. These networks are often used to send receive confidential data and information. The unauthorized or malicious node misuse these secrete information. With a rise in rogue nodes, network performance will suffer. A rogue node in the network can cause variations in network metrics including the packet dropping percentage, throughput, latency, energy consumption, and average queue duration. Indian Sign Language Recognition Using Deep Learning Techniques
By automatically translating Indian sign language into English speech, a portable multimedia Indian sign language translation program can help the deaf and/or speaker connect with hearing people. It could act as a translator for those that do not understand sign language, eliminating the need for a mediator and allowing communication to take place in the speaker's native language. As a result, Deaf-Dumb people are denied regular educational opportunities. Uneducated Deaf-Dumb people have a difficult time communicating with members of their culture. We provide an incorporated Android application to help ignorant Deaf-Dumb people fit into society and connect with others. The newly launched program includes a straight forward keyboard translator that really can convert any term from Indian sign language to English. The proposed system is an interactive application program for mobile phones created with application software. The mobile phone is used to photograph Indian sign language gestures, while the operating system performs vision processing tasks and the constructed audio device output signals speech, limiting the need for extra devices and costs. The perceived latency between both the hand signals as well as the translation is reduced by parallel processing. This allows for a very quick translation of finger and hand motions. This is capable of recognizing one-handed sign representations of the numbers 0 through 9. The findings show that the results are highly reproducible, consistent, and accurate
Utilization of Chicken Eggshell Waste: A Potential Calcium Source for Incorporation into Vegetable Soup Mix
Calcium, an important mineral in bones, is widely available in the form of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) in eggshells. However, tonnes of eggshells have been wasted every year all around the globe. The current work was aimed at valorizing the eggshell waste and incorporating it as an alternative Ca source for calcium deficient people. Soup mixes (named 1-5) were formulated by varying the ratio of starch (4-12 g) and vegetables (2-10 g) along with the constant quantity of mushroom and eggshell powder. The formulated soup mix was assessed for physiochemical properties and proximate analysis. The results showed that the soup mix 4 with 4 g vegetables, 10 g corn starch, 1 g onion, and garlic, 2 g salt and sugar, 2 g mushroom, and 1 g eggshell powder was found similar to the commercial soup mix along with 3069.095 mg/kg calcium content which meets individuals' RDA requirement. The results suggest that the formulated soup mix can act as a proper preload for all individuals and is used as a supplement for commercial calcium foods. Further research is required to increase the soup's acceptability, its bioavailability, and shelf stability
An Inventive Method to Fabric Part Structural Defect Detection Using Frame Harmonizing
Using a frame harmonizing based approach, this paper examines paper defects. In the textiles industry, the quick cutting and sewing of fabric has resulted in a lot of small mistakes, making this task extremely difficult. Especially these deformities won't be quickly recognized by specialists as well as programming. A novel frame harmonizing method is used in our system to find flaws in the fabric production process. Transformation and filtering techniques are used for the inputted fabric image frame. The conventional outline extraction method Berkeley edge detector is used to extract the edge map. Contour-based features are extracted and classified by K-Nearest Neighbour (KNN) classifier. The experimentation with real-time data set produced the outstanding performance results when compared with state of the art methods
