    INDONESIAN EDUCATION LANDSCAPE IN MALAYSIA: A PORTRAIT OF ONLINE LEARNING INDONESIAN SCHOOL OF KOTA KINABALU

    The Indonesian School of Kota Kinabalu (SIKK) is an Indonesian school located in Sabah, Malaysia. SIKK is the parent school that oversees hundreds of schools for Indonesian children in Sabah—Sarawak. Given SIKK's extensive reach, this research aims to explore how online learning has been implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Researchers found that SIKK implemented online learning due to the Malaysian government's prohibition on physical contact. Researchers also identified obstacles faced by students during online learning, such as difficulty accessing the internet, lack of electronic devices, and so on. Media used to support online learning include Zoom, Google Meet, and others. The conclusion that can be drawn is that SIKK has carefully designed and implemented online learning, considering various factors such as student needs, technological infrastructure, and effective teaching methods. This reflects their commitment to providing effective online education and providing an optimal learning experience for all parties involved

    Keterampilan berpikir kritis merupakan kemampuan utama yang perlu dimiliki individu di abad ke-21 dan perlu dikembangkan melalui kegiatan pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah (Problem-Based Learning/PBL) dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Kajian dilakukan melalui studi literatur terhadap sepuluh artikel ilmiah yang diterbitkan dalam kurun waktu sepuluh tahun terakhir, yang mencakup berbagai jenjang pendidikan dan metode penelitian. Hasil tinjauan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa PBL secara konsisten mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, terutama dalam hal analisis, evaluasi, sintesis, dan pemecahan masalah. Selain itu, model ini juga berkontribusi pada pengembangan kemandirian belajar, rasa tanggung jawab, kemampuan bekerja sama, dan keterampilan komunikasi siswa. PBL mendorong siswa menjadi pelaku aktif dalam pembelajaran dengan menghadapi dan menyelesaikan permasalahan nyata yang sesuai dengan konteks kehidupan mereka, sehingga menghubungkan antara teori yang dipelajari dan praktik di lapangan. Dengan demikian, pendekatan PBL menjadi alternatif strategi pembelajaran inovatif yang sesuai untuk menghadapi tantangan pendidikan di era saat ini

    ANALISIS KASUS BULLYING DENGAN PENDEKATAN PSIKOLOGI DI MI ISLAMIYAH WIRODITAN BOJONG DAN UPAYA PENCEGAHANNYA

    Kasus bullying di lembaga pendidikan dasar telah menjadi perhatian serius di kalangan masyarakat dan pendidik, termasuk di MI Islamiyah Wiroditan Bojong. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bentuk-bentuk perilaku bullying, penyebabnya, karakteristik pelaku dan korban, serta dampak psikologis yang ditimbulkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Informan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling sebanyak 21 informan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bullying di MI Islamiyah Wiroditan Bojong meliputi bullying fisik, verbal, dan psikologis. Pelaku bullying umumnya memiliki karakteristik dominan, kurang empati, dan berasal dari lingkungan keluarga yang permisif, sedangkan korban cenderung lebih lemah, pendiam, yang dianggap berbeda oleh pelaku. Dampak psikologis yang ditimbulkan berupa kecemasan, rendahnya rasa percaya diri, hingga depresi. Upaya pencegahan dilakukan melalui pendekatan psikologi, baik terhadap pelaku maupun korban, dengan tujuan untuk mengurangi kasus bullying serta memberikan dukungan emosional bagi korban. Dengan pendekatan psikologis yang tepat, kasus bullying dapat diminimalisir, menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang lebih kondusif

    ANALYZING CHILDREN'S TREATMENT AND ROLE IN INDONESIAN RESEARCH: CURRENT PRACTICES AND ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS

    This study investigates the treatment and role of children in research practices in Indonesia. Using a content analysis of six research-based articles, this study aims to understand the current state of involving children in research in Indonesia. The articles were selected based on three criteria: the focus of child research, the disciplines of research, and the availability of English language versions. The content analysis was carried out by systematically examining how each article addressed ethical considerations, participant involvement, and the research methodologies employed, particularly in relation to children as research participants. The findings show that researchers often fail to provide adequate treatment for child participants and tend to treat them similarly to adult participants throughout the research process. Additionally, children's involvement in research is not always voluntary, as evidenced by the lack of informed consent or consent from adult guardians, posing a risk to their safety and well-being. To address these issues, this study highlights the need for ethical guidelines that encompass specific aspects, such as obtaining genuine informed consent, safeguarding child welfare during research, and respecting children's unique vulnerabilities and rights. Existing frameworks like UNICEF's Ethical Research Involving Children (ERIC) guidelines or international research ethics codes could be adapted to the Indonesian context. Other relevant research institutions, such as the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, universities, and research communities, must also establish these guidelines to ensure ethical standards are upheld in research with children

    In this modern era, the world's population is now faced with the need to balance technological advances with knowledge, this is reflected in the development and improvement of technical abilities and skills of today's humans through the development of technology that continues to grow. One form of its implementation in the world of education is the use of application-based learning media. The use of application-based learning media is used to improve students' abilities, one of which is the ability to think critically mathematically. This study aims to determine the use of application-based learning media to measure mathematical critical thinking skills. The method used in this study is SLR (Systematic Literature Review) where researchers collect articles related to the use of learning applications to measure critical thinking skills with a publication period of 2020-2023. Based on this study, it was found; 1) applications as learning media have definitions, objectives, important roles in the field of education, and 2) there is a significant influence in the use of applications on students' critical thinking skills

    Kegiatan muhadhoroh merupakan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler yang berperan penting dalam memupuk minat dan bakat terpendam siswa, terutama kemampuan berbicara di depan umum. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di MI As-Shaffah Kota Bengkulu selama 3 bulan . Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis peran kegiatan muhadhoroh dalam meningkatkan potensi minat dan bakat siswa. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi terhadap kepala sekolah, direktur kegiatan dan dengan sample 10 orang peserta didik . Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan muhadhoroh berperan signifikan dalam meningkatkan rasa percaya diri, kemampuan berkomunikasi, serta kemampuan berpikir kritis ,kreatif siswa, peningkatan minat bakat, kepercayan diri, emosional siswa ,dan motivasi siswa

    Integrasi Nilai Budaya Lokal dalam Pembelajaran: Review Literatur tentang Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT)

    This study aims to systematically review the literature that discusses the concept of Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) and its implementation through the integration of local cultural values ​​in learning. CRT is a pedagogical approach that places students' culture as the basis for designing, implementing, and evaluating the learning process. Through a review of a number of national and international scientific articles over the past 10 years, this study identifies the main principles of CRT, strategies for integrating local cultural values, the benefits of its implementation, and the challenges faced in the field. The results of the study indicate that the integration of local culture in learning, such as through folklore, customary practices, and local wisdom, can increase student engagement, strengthen cultural identity, and improve conceptual understanding and character values. The strategy for implementing CRT based on local culture has proven effective in various subjects, from Science, Indonesian, to Mathematics. However, its implementation still faces obstacles such as limited teacher competence, minimal contextual learning resources, and suboptimal policy support. This study recommends the importance of teacher training on culturally responsive pedagogy, development of locally based teaching materials, and collaboration between schools and communities to strengthen learning practices rooted in students' culture. Integration of local cultural values ​​through the CRT approach is a potential strategy in realizing inclusive, relevant, and character-based education in Indonesia

    Penelitian ini membahas efektivitas strategi pembelajaran afektif dalam pembentukan sikap disiplin siswa di sekolah dasar. Strategi pembelajaran yang efektif harus mempertimbangkan karakteristik siswa, tujuan pembelajaran, materi yang diajarkan, serta kondisi dan sumber daya yang tersedia. Dengan memilih strategi yang tepat, guru dapat menciptakan suasana belajar yang interaktif dan relevan, yang berkontribusi pada peningkatan motivasi, pemahaman, dan keterampilan siswa. Beberapa strategi yang diidentifikasi meliputi mendengarkan dan memberikan perhatian, membangun komunitas kelas yang inklusif, mengajarkan keterampilan sosial dan emosional, serta menerapkan pembelajaran yang berpusat pada siswa. Hasil observasi menunjukkan bahwa guru berperan sebagai teladan yang efektif, di mana sikap disiplin yang ditunjukkan oleh guru dapat ditiru oleh siswa. Penelitian ini juga mengungkapkan bahwa penerapan strategi pembelajaran afektif yang konsisten, melalui keteladanan guru dan penghargaan terhadap perilaku positif, memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap pembentukan karakter disiplin siswa. Dampak positif dari pembentukan sikap disiplin meliputi peningkatan prestasi akademik, terciptanya lingkungan belajar yang kondusif, serta pembentukan karakter dan tanggung jawab. Temuan ini menunjukkan pentingnya peran guru dalam menerapkan strategi pembelajaran afektif untuk membentuk sikap disiplin yang kuat di kalangan siswa

    THE INFLUENCE OF PERCEPTION OF THE TEACHING PROFESSION ON THE INTEREST IN BECOMING A TEACHER: A CASE STUDY OF PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS

    This study examines how teachers' perceptions influence individuals' interest in choosing a profession as a teacher. The aim is to uncover the impact of these perceptions on the interest in becoming a teacher, with the expectation that the findings will provide new insights for teacher recruitment strategies in the future and enhance the quality of education. The results are expected to offer recommendations for designing teacher professional development programs and serve as a reference for future researchers in exploring other factors influencing interest in becoming a teacher. The research type used is quantitative research with the dependent variable being the interest in becoming a teacher, and the independent variable being teachers' perceptions. The population in this study consists of students from the Economic Education Department, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Negeri Medan, class of 2021. The sample in this study is 70 students. Due to the relatively small population size, a saturated sampling technique was used. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire, and data analysis was performed using simple regression. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights into how teachers' perceptions impact students' career choices. By understanding these perceptions, education stakeholders can develop targeted strategies to improve teacher recruitment and retention. Moreover, the results could guide the creation of policies and programs aimed at improving the image of the teaching profession, thereby attracting more individuals to consider teaching as a viable and rewarding career. The study also has the potential to influence educational institutions and policymakers in designing more effective teacher professional development initiatives

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar Pendidikan Pancasila di kelas IIIA SDN 4 Palangka melalui penerapan model Project Based Learning (PjBL) dengan pendekatan Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT). Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya hasil belajar siswa akibat kurangnya semangat, kejenuhan, dan minimnya perhatian terhadap materi pelajaran. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, digunakan media pembelajaran berupa flashcard sebagai proyek yang melibatkan siswa secara aktif dalam proses belajar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan McTaggart dalam dua siklus yang masing-masing terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah 20 siswa kelas IIIA, dengan penelitian dilaksanakan pada tanggal 11–20 Februari 2025. Data dikumpulkan melalui pretest dan posttest serta dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan hasil belajar siswa, dengan nilai rata-rata meningkat dari 64 (ketuntasan 45%) pada tahap pra-siklus, menjadi 70,5 (ketuntasan 70%) pada siklus I, dan mencapai 81 (ketuntasan 90%) pada siklus II. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan PjBL dengan pendekatan CRT efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Pancasila
