International audienceLe chapitre français (https://caafrance.hypotheses.org) de l'organisation internationale « Computer Applications and Quantitative Methods in Archaeology » (CAA) a été créé en 2024. Ses activités visent à : 1) promouvoir les approches computationnelles et quantitatives en archéologie ; 2) animer ces recherches en collaboration avec les autres groupes et réseaux de recherche qui existent en France et dans les espaces francophones ; 3) constituer une interface entre les communautés françaises / francophones et la communauté internationale. Dans cette communication, nous présenterons les objectifs collectifs et collaboratifs du CAA-FR et ses activités concrètes réalisées depuis sa création
EGLN1 mutations in Cis can induce congenital erythrocytosis with thromboses by increasing protein instability
International audienceHereditary congenital erythrocytosis results from constitutive activation of the hypoxia pathway. This pathway is controlled by regulation of the α isoforms of the hypoxia‐inducible factor α/β heterodimer, notably via hydroxylation by prolyl hydroxylase domain 2 (PHD2). Mutations affecting PHD2 are involved in Type 3 erythrocytosis. We report an atypical family bearing two PHD2 mutations located in Cis (L195H and E225D) transmitted in a dominant feature, together with a phenotypic analysis, structural modelling and functional study. Mutations have a cumulative effect, with E255D playing the major role, and severely compromised PHD2 stability, probably explaining why the hypoxia pathway at the origin of the disease is activated

Degenerate systems of three Brownian particles with asymmetric collisions: invariant measure of gaps
We consider a degenerate system of three Brownian particles undergoing asymmetric collisions.We study the gap process of this system and focus on its invariant measure. The gap process is described as an obliquely reflected degenerate Brownian motion in a quadrant. For all possible parameter cases, we compute the Laplace transform of the invariant measure, and fully characterize the conditions under which it belongs to the following classes: rational, algebraic, differentially finite, or differentially algebraic. We also derive explicit formulas for the invariant measure on the boundary of the quadrant, expressed in terms of a Theta-like function, to which we apply a polynomial differential operator.In this study, we introduce a new parameter called (along with two additional parameters and ) which governs many properties of the degenerate process. This parameter is reminiscent of the famous parameter introduced by Varadhan and Williams (and the two parameters and recently introduced by Bousquet-Mélou et al.) to study nondegenerate reflected Brownian motion in a wedge.To establish our main results we start from a kernel functional equation characterizing the Laplace transform of the invariant measure. By an analytic approach, we establish a finite difference equation satisfied by the Laplace transform. Then, using certain so-called decoupling functions, we apply Tutte's invariant approach to solve the equation via conformal gluing functions. Finally, difference Galois theory and exhaustive study allows us to find necessary and sufficient conditions for the Laplace transform to belong to the specified function hierarchy

Impact of chlordecone pollution on biodiversity: The blind spot of 15 years of public policy in the French West Indies
International audienceFor many years, there has been an unprecedented decline in biodiversity on a global scale, triggered largely by the use of plant protection products. In this context, a collective scientific assessment was conducted to identify current consensus knowledge and further needs regarding the impacts of plant protection products on biodiversity and ecosystem services in France, including its overseas territories. A particular focus was placed on chlordecone, a highly persistent organochlorine insecticide used extensively in the French West Indies (FWI) for more than 20 years (1972-1993) to control the banana root borer, but also in Eastern Europe, the USA, South America and Africa for various uses. The FWI support biodiversity hotspots, with many endemic and endangered species, and include marine and terrestrial protected areas. Such an environmental context is therefore highly relevant for studying the links between chlordecone contamination and potential effects on biodiversity. Thus, the objective of this work was to review the contamination of the FWI environment by chlordecone, its transfer through ecosystems, and its effects on biodiversity and ecosystem services. Literature analysis emphasized valuable knowledge of chlordecone ecodynamics in terrestrial, freshwater, and marine ecosystems. A wide diversity of terrestrial and aquatic organisms is chronically exposed to chlordecone. However, despite 15 years of public policy dedicated to developing knowledge on chlordecone’s fate and impacts, the knowledge gap remains critical regarding its effects on biodiversity and on ecosystem services. As the local environment is often contaminated for tens or even hundreds of years, future research is needed to characterize the effects of legacy pollution by chlordecone and its transformation products on organisms and ecosystems
