    Kinship Politics of Village Government in Lobulayan Sigordang Village West Angkola Districts South Tapanuli Regency

    This study aims to find out how kinship politics in village government in Lobulayan Sigordang Village, West Angkola District, South Tapanuli Regency includes the causal factors and patterns of the existence of kinship politics. This research is a case study research using a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques in this study include observation, interviews, and documentation. In determining the research subjects used purposive sampling technique, so in this study the research subjects were the Head of Lobulayan Sigordang Village, Secretary of Lobulayan Sigordang Village, Head of Government Section, Head of Community Section, Head of Financial Affairs, and Head of Planning Affairs. The research data were obtained through observations, interviews, and documentation, then processed and analyzed by first reducing the data then displaying the data in tabular form and the last narrative description drawing conclusions on the findings of the research data. Based on the research that has been done, there is kinship politics in the village government in Lobulayan Sigordang village, the manifestation of kinship politics is seen from the election of village officials who occupy village officials positions that are not based on their abilities or not through a predetermined procedure, but rather based on on consideration of good kinship because of blood ties, marital ties, and clans. The factors behind kinship politics in Lobulayan Sigordang village are: low level of education, assessing that kinship politics is not a wrong thing, and feelings of not being betrayed by family or relatives in running the village government

    How to Apply HOTS-based E-learning in Higher Education?

    This research is qualitative research with the type of case study to describe the implementation of e-learning based on HOTS in higher education. E-learning is a necessity that must be used by lecturers when teaching at universities, especially during the current pandemic. The learning must be based on HOTS as the demands of the industrial revolution 4.0 and society 5.0, to produce prospective teachers who can guide their students to have the ability to solve problems in life. The research subjects were 196 people who took the Philosophy of Science course at the PPKN PIPS FKIP Study Program, Mataram University. Data were collected through observation techniques, interview documentation, and tests. After conducting a holistic and specific qualitative analysis, the results show that HOTS-based e-learning is carried out through the stages of preparation for the implementation of learning and evaluation for 16 learning activities. The contents of the activities include discussion of textual material, independent contextual exercises, and completing exams. During the activity, lecturers and students gave positive responses to various supporting factors and existing challenges. This activity has an impact on the acquisition of positive student learning outcomes. As a follow-up suggestion, full vigilance is needed to seek more varied activities to be actively involved in learning activities and successfully pass lectures

    The disciplinary problem in school has become one of the popular issues in Malaysia. The purpose of this study is to describe youth perceptions and the effects of disciplinary action implemented in school. It intends to achieve three main objectives which are to identify the perceptions of youth towards disciplinary action practice in school, to examine the effects of disciplinary action practice, and to make comparisons between gender and its acceptance towards disciplinary action in school. Data collection had been carried out using a quantitative approach through convenient sampling. There were 260 questionnaires distributed to respondents from the diploma and degree students under the Faculty of Administrative Science & Policy Studies at MARA University of Technology (UiTM) in Kota Samarahan.  Findings showed that most youths agreed on the good perception of the disciplinary action implemented in school. However, there were also respondents who had given some opinions and recommendations. Nevertheless, only some of the students tend to access aggressive solutions. This study also did a comparison between gender and its acceptance toward disciplinary action in school.  However, finding indicated there was no difference of acceptance between genders

    Facebook is one of the latest genres of internet social networks which have attained widespread popularity, yet its defining characteristics have not been systematically described. It has been labeled by some as a genre of possibilities implying that you can come across, new, interesting, unacceptable and controversial texts on FB. Again, it has been labeled a genre of possibilities since it is dynamic, complex and it uses multiple types of sources. FB has emerged as an effective tool for communicating social ties, keeping family and friends updated on latest issues and events, creating new affiliations and as a stage for political or democratic campaigns. The paper investigated the unique elements inherent in Facebook subgenre. It is an endeavour to understand the defining characteristics of Facebook sub genres. The study identified the most useful criteria for categorizing Facebook texts and also identifying the most typical or unique features of FB genres. The researchers endeavored to answer the question what is it that essentially determines the ‘Facebookness’ of FB genres? ‘The study investigated the defining mechanism and sustainability of FB subgenres and established that the most common subgenres on FB are comments, news links, democratic campaigns, business interactions, comments, groups, religious texts and visuals images.     The Effectiveness of Mindfulness Training on Self-regulation and Perceived Academic Control of Girl Students

    The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of mindfulness training on self-regulation and perceived academic control of female students. The research is applied in terms of purpose and quasi-experimental in terms of method using pretest-posttest with a control group. The statistical population of this study consisted of all female high school students in Tehran in the academic year 2019-2020. First, a school was selected from among them and 30 students were selected by random sampling method and were randomly assigned to the experimental group (15 people) and the control group (15 people). The experimental group was trained in 8 sessions of the Mindfulness Training Program (2017). The self-regulatory questionnaire by Pintrich and DeGroot (1990) and the Perry et al.'s (2001) Conscious Academic Control Scale were used to collect data. One-way covariance test was used to analyze the data. The results showed that mindfulness training method has a significant effect on increasing students' self-regulation and conscious academic control

    This study deals with catharsis as a cognitive stylistic device used to expel fear and anxiety for the sake of changing the audience toward better by preachers in Husseini discourse – Hussein is a grand Shiite Muslim leader. It aims to explicate the exploitation of catharsis by Husseini preachers and the conceptualization of such phenomenon by the audience. The study adapts the emotion model developed by Kovecses (2000); five stages are utilized: cause of the emotion, emotion, control, loss of control, and behavioral response. Twenty Husseini sermons are analyzed according to the stages of the model. Consequently, the study has come up with considerable conclusions. Chief among them are: Husseini preachers pragmatically use prosodic features to convey catharsis. A further conclusion is that catharsis is utilized by Husseini preachers as a strategy to teach the audience all the objectives of the Husseini revolution and to connect the objectives to this age for the sake of reform, using the fear that can modulate the human behavior

    Relationship between Instructional Leadership and Implementation of Competency-Based Curriculum in Early Years Education in Nairobi City County, Kenya

    Globally, learning institutions at primary school level experience a gap in instructional leadership that fosters curriculum implementation. Research has established that those instructional leaders (heads of schools) determine the impact that teaching and learning processes in school has on learners’ academic performance. This study was designed to establish the extent of implementation of Competency-Based Curriculum in early years education in public and private schools. The study was also to determine the relationship between instructional leadership and implementation of Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in early years education in Kenya.  The study was guided by Michael Fullan’s Theory of Change. The dependent variable was implementation of Competency-Based Curriculum in early years education while the independent variable was instructional leadership. E-questionnaires and interview schedules were used to collect data which was analyzed using qualitative and quantitative methods. The results showed there was no difference in the implementation of curriculum between private and public primary schools. The relationship between instructional leadership and implementation of competency-based curriculum was significant at 0.05. The results also indicated that most head teachers focused more on administrative roles than activities that support curriculum implementation. It was therefore recommended that for effective curriculum implementation in early years education, head teachers needed to be intentionally trained on how to support teachers and learners in the related processe

    Nurses’ Knowledge Regarding Contraceptive Methods at Dinajpur Medical College Hospital

    This study was carried out on Nurses Knowledge Regarding Contraceptives Methods in Dinajpur Medical college Hospital, Dinajpur. The descriptive co relational design was used to explore the nurse’s knowledge and practice regarding contraceptives methods used in Dinajpur Medical college Hospital, Dinajpur. The study was conducted in thirty-two wards under four selected units, including 1) Gynae ward 2) Labour ward 3) Family planning centre. 50 nurses were selected for this study. The instrument developed by the researcher was divided into three sections, including 1) Demographic Questionnaire 2) Nurses’ knowledge regarding contraceptives methods Questionnaire 3) Nurses’ practice regarding contraceptives methods Questionnaire. The age of the participated nurses was 30-39 years 28%, 40-49 years 66%, 50+ above 4%. Of them, a male nurse was 12% and a female 88%. No unmarried nurse has participated, and 96% were married, and the remaining 4% were a widow. Professional qualification, Diploma in Nursing and Diploma in Midwifery 76%, B. Sc. in public Health 0%, M. Ph / M. Sc. 10%

    Perceived Effects of Computer-Based Examination (CBE) on Essay Writing Skills of Undergraduates in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State

    The study examined the perceived effects of Computer-Based Examination (CBE) on essay writing skills of undergraduates in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State. One research question was raised and answered while the three hypotheses were formulated and tested in the study. The descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The population of this covered all the 27,388 regular undergraduate students in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. A sample size of 546 students were selected for the study. The proportional random sampling technique was used to select 2% of the total number of students across each of the faculties in the institution. The instrument used for the collection of data was developed by the researcher and titled: “Computer Based Examination Perception Questionnaire (CBEPQ)”. The instrument has a reliability alpha (α) of 0.78. The research question was analysed using the mean ( ) and standard deviation (S.D) while the t-test statistics for two independent samples was used to test hypothesis 1, 2 and 3 at 0.05 level of significance. Based on findings, it can be concluded that computer-based examination (CBE) has effect on their essay writing skills as undergraduates in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State. Hence, it is concluded that undergraduate students of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma perceived that computer-based examination (CBE) has effect on their essay writing skills. Female undergraduates of Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State had higher perception on the effect of CBE on essay writing but their perception of CBE on essay writing did not differ by age and level of study
