Effectiveness of "Greening" the Professional Education Courses in Teacher Education Program in the National Network of Normal Schools
Get PDFThis study determined the effectiveness of the Professional Education lessons embedded with environmental concepts and principles using the materials from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). It involved the 399 third Teacher Education students from the eight member institutions of the National Network of Normal Schools (3NS) during the first term of the academic year 2016-2017. Data gathering strategies were parallel pretest and posttest, focus group discussion, document analysis, and process documentation of the class project implementation. Data sources were the results of validated researcher-made Test on Environmental Concepts and Principles, focus group discussion, analysis of the curriculum guide, and the documentation of the students’ environmental project implementation. The t-test (4.443) between the pre-test mean of 14.50 and the post-test mean of 18.83 showed a significant increase in the test at 0.05 level of significance. The results show that the EE-enriched lessons in Professional Education courses were found effective in enhancing the level of environmental competence of the students based on the test results and supported by the students’ narratives and project implementation. The institutionalization of the integration of environmental education in the Professional Education courses in the Teacher Education curriculum is strongly recommended
Empowerment of Medan Estate Village Communities in Utilizing Waste Fabric as Souvenir Products
Get PDFThis Community Partnership (PKM) program generally aims to assist craft business groups, fashion business activists and PKK mothers in Medan Estate Village, Percut Sei Tuan District in managing and utilizing Fabric waste or cloth waste into souvenirs that have a selling price. In the use of Fabric waste or cloth waste, it can also reduce environmental pollution and reduce waste, especially cloth waste in Medan Estate Village, where the majority of the workers are fashion business activists and businesses related to the use of cloth. The method used in this study is the approach, training, and assistance carried out by researchers to the Medan Estate Village craft business group, fashion business activists, and PKK mothers. Partners of this PKM face various problems from lack of awareness in the need to keep the environment clean, lack of knowledge and initiative to use Fabric waste or cloth waste as souvenirs so that they have a selling value. The output and specific targets of this research are increasing public awareness in managing cloth waste into selling points. The success rate of this service activity will be measured by the results of: 1. Increasing the quality of human resources in awareness of the need to keep the environment clean from cloth waste, utilizing cloth or Fabric waste waste as souvenirs, 2. Souvenir products, 3. Logo creation, 4. Online shops and offline
Analyzing the Role of Great Powers in Creating the Durand Line and Its Impact on Afghanistan-Pakistan Relations
Get PDFThe existence of countries based on borders is the product of the second half of the nineteenth century, and Afghanistan is the first country to be established on this basis. Afghanistan's current political borders are imposed, largely influenced by the political struggles and rivalries of the British and Tsarist Russia in the 19th century and during the Great Game to prevent a direct confrontation between the two powers in Central Asia. They set up a barrier between themselves and established the country's political borders through several treaties. Meanwhile, the Durand Line and the issue of Pashtunistan are very important, because the developments in Afghanistan after the signing of the Durand Line entered a new phase, and with the passage of time and some major changes such as Britain's withdrawal from the subcontinent and India's independence, not only failed, but the advent of Pakistan and the conflict of interests between the two neighboring countries has led to the complexity of events which has been on the rise and continues to this day. The present study, using descriptive-analytical methods and citing reliable library sources, seeks to examine the role of major powers such as Britain and Russia in shaping Afghanistan's political borders, especially the Durand Line, and its negative consequences for Afghanistan and its role in creating differences between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The results show that regional and supra-regional powers, especially Britain, played a role in shaping Afghanistan's borders, and Durand's mystery is one of the leftovers of British-Indian colonialism, which has now become a source of discord between Afghanistan and Pakistan and its negative consequences to Afghanistan includes land closures and lack of access to open waters, support and rise of political instability in Afghanista
Mass Media Analysis and Exposure of Bangga Kencana Program towards Youth in North Sumatera Province, Indonesia

North Sumatra Province is a province that is divided into three regional segmentations, namely the coast, the central mountains, and the archipelago which are divided into 33 districts/ cities. Analysis of 2019 SKAP BKKBN data. The number of adolescents from the 2019 SKAP data was 1834 people who were the total sample of adolescents in this pellet. This research is descriptive analytic in the form of a secondary data study or analysis, which is to further analyze existing data sets or those that have been collected from the 2019 North Sumatra Province Accountability Program Performance Survey (SKAP). The analysis uses chi-square for bivariate and multiple multiple regressions for multivariate analysis. The results of the study consisted of descriptive and analytic. The description of this research The condition of the IEC media used in informing teenagers in North Sumatra on the pride issues of kencana still rely on print media, electronic media, outdoor media and online media. Its effectiveness is also influenced by the level of education, gender, area of residence, and also the age of adolescence. Electronic media is still popular as a medium that informs youthful issues of good fortune, followed by online media which is a percentage more acceptable to teenagers
Markers in Select Electronic Essays of English Language Students
Get PDFThis study ascertained specific discourse markers used under the categories of contrastive, elaborative and inferential in the selected electronic essays of freshmen Bachelor of Arts in BA English Language students of a government run university in Tacloban City, Leyte, Philippines. It pinpointed the discourse markers that are used incorrectly by the freshmen students in their writings. Using a qualitative research design, the data were sourced from the sixty-two students’ electronic essays, enrolled in the History of the English Language course during the first semester of academic year 2021-2022. The essays were described, analyzed and interpreted using the framework on discourse markers developed by Fraser in 2009. Results showed that the students used restricted set of contrastive (“but” and “however”), elaborative (“and” and “furthermore”), and inferential (“because (of/this)” and “so (that)”) discourse markers (DMs). Furthermore, multiple incorrectly used DMs were also found as caused by misused, unnecessary, non-functional, and ungrammatical DMs. As use of discourse markers seemed restricted among the language students, the researchers found a gap of familiarization with other discourse markers and their functions among them, hence, limiting them to use common discourse markers (e.g. but, and, so that etc.). Moreover, students are also still incognizant with the basic functions and categorization of discourse markers which somehow affect the quality of their electronic essay outputs
Social Media and Non-Personal Communication for Increasing Brand Equity and Their Implications towards Customer Value
Get PDFIdentifying, creating and delivering customer value will gain a competitive advantage. Providing benefits and reducing costs/costs is an effort to increase value. Reducing the sacrifice the company can do marketing through social media and non-personnel communication because this can increase brand equity in customers. This study aims to analyze and prove the effect of social media and non-personnel communication on brand equity which has an impact on customer value. The research method used a survey to 200 smartphone customers in Bandung where respondents were given 29 closed questions with ordinal 1 to 5. The analytical tool used was path analysis. The results show that the respondent's perception of the customer value variable is in the fairly good to good category. The results also show that there is an influence of social media and non-personnel communication on brand equity either partially or simultaneously, the results also show that there is an influence of brand equity on customer value, there is an influence of social media and non-personnel communication on customer value partiall
English Learning Strategies by the Second Grade Students at a State Junior High School in Kupang, Indonesia (A Case Study)

After having a strong determination, all you need to do is find the right English learning strategy. The students used different learning strategies in learning English as a foreign language. This study is designed to find out types of English language learning strategies are used by the students and the factors influencing the choice of learning strategy. On the basis of the nature of the data, a qualitative approach is appropriate to this study. Data were obtained by questionnaire and interview. The result of the analysis revealed that the students used three types of strategies in learning English. The types of strategies are cognitive, metacognitive and social/affective strategies. The more dominant strategy that is used by the students is social/ affective strategy. While the factor influencing their choices of strategies are classified into internal and external factors
Climate Change and the Church: An Eschatological Perspective

Judaic religion and its offshoot of Christian religion constitutes a body of believers and worshippers that have established a belief system and teaching on the origin of man and the earth to which they have ascribed to the creative power of a supreme being known among them as the Almighty God. Some other religions have worshipped the elements and forces of nature eg the sun, moon, stars, mountains, rivers, wind etc that themselves greatly influence the environment and climate. Climate change is the net effect of recorded weather conditions over a given period of time regarding atmospheric conditions, temperature variations, meteorological and earth structural changes etc measured in regularity and pattern. Eschatology is the Christian believe in the events that will culminate in the end of life forms on earth. Climate change and religion are as old as man and coexist. This study examines this relationship with reference to eschatology. Climate change is caused either by the activities of naturaly occurring events of the elements or the activities of man. The system approach and empirical exposition on the doctrine of eschatology as propagated by the Church vis-à-vis climate change effects was adopted. Dance and Pythagorean Symbolism: A Case Study
Get PDFThe research field of this paper is the community of Limni, which is located on the island of Evia in Greece. Τhe aim of this research paper is to study the symbolic dimension of the Kamarachti dance from the Limni of the island of Evia in Greece. In particular, the paper attempts to highlight the symbolic characteristics of the dance under study, in order to determine the reason for its performance during the Easter period, throughout which many rituals related to the regeneration of nature are performed, that is this paper attempts to determine its function. Data was gathered through ethnographic method as this is applied to the study of dance, while its elaboration with the comparative method. The Kamarachti was recorded and analyzed using the Laban notation system and the morphological method. Finally, the symbolic function of Kamarachti was interpreted on the basis of the Pythagorean philosophical tradition. From the data analysis was found that the Kamarachti dance in the community of Limni on the island of Evia, on the basis of its symbolism, emerges as the protector of a magical process that aims at the rebirth of nature. This dance, with its magical and laxative properties and powers, avoids any demonic imposition, in order to ensure the euphoria of the earth
