    Peranan Institusi Pengajian Tinggi di Malaysia dalam pembudayaan talaqqī al-Quran bersanad: Role of higher education institutions in Malaysia in cultivating Quranic sanad talaqqī

    Higher Education Institutions (HEI) play a very important role in producing a highly educated community today. Not to be outdone, Islamic HEIs based on Islamic studies such as akidah, sharia and morality also produce human capital that contributes various contributions to the community in Malaysia. Among the studies offered at Islamic HEI is the study of the Quran which successfully educates its students to read the Quran well. One of the courses offered in some Islamic HEIs is Talaqqī Al-Quran Bersanad Course. The offer of this course is usually in the form of a certificate and is open to anyone including the general public. The intake of talaqqī al-Quran sanad is increasingly emphasized in Malaysia. Meanwhile, researcher found that not many HEIs offer this course. Therefore, this paper will discuss the role of HEIs in Malaysia in cultivating talaqqī al-Quran bersanad. This study will present an example of a module of two HEIs that offer the study of talaqqī al-Quran bersanad for reference and guidance of those who need it. The two HEIs are University of Malaya (UM) and Sultan Ismail Petra International Islamic College (KIAS). Among the content presented are the name and objectives of the course, duration of study, course content, student assessment and graduation sanad. The method of this study is a qualitative while data collection is carried out through the library method and information search on the internet. The results of the study found that the Talaqqī al-Quran Bersanad Course needs to be developed and disseminated. This is because learning by talaqqī bersanad is a sunnah of the Prophet SAW and also the qurrā’ in every age. Islamic HEIs need to play a role in cultivating the talaqqī al-Quran bersanad as well as attracting the interest of the Malaysian community to read the Quran. It is hoped that this study can be beneficial in cultivating talaqqī al-Quran bersanad in Malaysia.Higher Education Institutions (HEI) play a very important role in producing today’s knowledge society. The demand for Quranic sanad talaqqī is growing in Malaysia. However, the number of HEIs offering this course is limited. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to examine the role of HEIs in cultivating Quranic sanad talaqqī. This study will perform a comparative analysis of courses offered at the University of Malaya (UM) and Sultan Ismail Petra International Islamic University College (KIAS).  Descriptive analysis includes characteristics such as course name, course objectives, duration of study, course content, student assessment, and awarding of sanad. The method of this study is qualitative, while data collection includes secondary data from published and internet sources. The results of the study indicate the Quranic Sanad Talaqqī Course needs to be further developed and promoted. Furthermore, learning by sanad talaqqī is a sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) and the qurrā’ in every age. Therefore, Islamic HEIs need to play a major role in cultivating the Quranic sanad talaqqī

    The work of da'wah is a very noble task. Da'wah is the act of inviting and leading mankind towards goodness and abandoning evil. The work of da'wah requires a very high level of sacrifice because of the various challenges and obstacles faced by the preachers in conveying the call of Islam to the community. Thus, the question raised and discussed in this paper is how the preachers of the past were able to defend Islam in Tanah Melayu from the threat during the colonial era. The objective of this study is to highlight the roles and achievements of the preachers, the challenges faced, and their values ​​and morals in fighting for Islam in Tanah Melayu. The data for the study was obtained from documents and historical information found in relevant books and previous articles. The results of this study concluded that the Islamic preachers of the past were a group of people who were not only very obedient to the teachings of Islam and very firm in defending the religion, but they were also individuals with noble values as well as superior morals. These individuals not only fought via words and writings but also with courage and strength to take up arms to oppose the colonialists in defending the sanctity of Islam

    An overview on Islamic lifelong learning in Brunei Darussalam: Satu sorotan tentang pembelajaran Islam sepanjang hayat

    Since the 19th Century, Brunei Darussalam has conducted Islamic Lifelong Learning formally and non-formally, which has been referred to as the Adult Religious Class. The class is offered to mature students who have never attended or finished their formal religious education. The modules taught are mostly focused on al-Quran literacy skills and basic Islamic studies. Although these classes have been practised for a long time, the term Islamic Lifelong Learning is still an uncommon term in the sultanate. Hence, this study proposes to explore and discover the term “Islamic Lifelong Learning” in the context of Brunei Darussalam. The study is based on document reviews and analyses from past researchers and official websites. Furthermore, the findings have suggested that various classes have been established in Lifelong learning, which can be known as “Islamic Lifelong Learning”. Thus, the paper concludes that Islamic Lifelong Learning is a part of ongoing learning in Brunei Darussalam that has been implemented and conducted either in mosques, balais, universities, or institutes with particular Islamic modules consisting of ‘Aqīdah, Sharī‘ah and Akhlāq

    Discussion on the Maqāṣid al-Qur’ān: Classical and contemporary intellectual response: Wacana Maqāṣid al-Qurān: Respon intelektual klasik dan kontemporari

    The purpose of the Quran in life is as a basic concept in the preservation of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah (Objectives of Divine Law). Scholars have concluded that maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah is one of the main reasons for the revelation of the Quran to actualize the welfare of all Muslims. As leaders of this world, mankind needs to be cleansed so they can stand strong to serve the community by putting religion, race, and skin colour aside. Furthermore, this study will evaluate the discussion of maqāṣid al-Qur’ān (the objectives of the Quran) that has been formulated from the viewpoint of Islamic scholars, both classic and contemporary. Using the documentation research method, this article concludes that the maqāṣid al-Qur’ān is an order for submitting ourselves to the Oneness of Allah, which is the main belief. All the objectives will focus on aqīdah (creed), laws, and tales of the Quran. In addition, some of the efforts that can be made to cultivate the Quran in life through an understanding maqāṣid al-Qur’ān include reading, memorising, understanding, and practising its teachings. Thus, the Quran was revealed to ensure the well-being of people, whether in this world or the Hereafter

    Kesepadanan fungsi terjemahan derivasi Tafā‘ala dalam surah al-Baqarah: The accurate equivalent function of suffix Tafā‘ala in al-Baqarah

    Most of the interpreters have difficulty finding the most accurate derivation of the Arabic translation equivalent to the translated verb in Malay. This is because of the failure to determine the function of the translated derivation of the verb. This study is undertaken to examine the most accurate equivalent function of the derivation word تـَفـَاعَـلَ (tafā‘ala) in surah al-Baqarah. The objective of this study was to examine how Malay Arabic translation can be translated correctly when the prefix ت (ta’) is added in front of a verb and the insertion of ا (alif) is added after the first letter of the root word. Five research samples taken from surah al-Baqarah were studied using contrastive analysis and content theory. The findings showed that the four samples interpreted according to the derivation translation function with the suffix تـَفـَاعَـلَ (tafā’ala) added, were translated correctly. While the other sample was suggested with another translation. This study found all affixes of the samples meant المشاركة (al-mushārakah). In conclusion, translation is seen as successful because it is translated correctly, although there is little modification made with the aim of making the translation more natural in the context of the verse

    Do all the verses of amr have haqīqī and majāzī meanings? This study discusses the purpose of amr in surah al-Baqarah. The objective of this study is to identify the form and purpose of amr in the context of halal food in surah al-Baqarah. This is a qualitative study that uses Kuckartz (2014) text analysis techniques based on sentences and uses interpretations carried out by past and modern scholars. The author uses the ‘Abbās Theory (1997). The findings of the study found five verses about halal food in surah al-Baqarah which uses fi‘l amr. There are three purposes of amr which are wajib, ibāḥat and al-qudrat. The purpose of amr that is regularly used is ibāḥat five times, followed by wajib four times, and al-qudrat only once. In conclusion, it clearly shows that the verses of amr in the context of halal food possess the meaning of haqīqī and majāzī in surah al-Baqarah

    One form of scholarly writing is an article that is published in a journal. Accordingly, the education arena in Malaysia is also actively publishing quality scientific journals; as of 2020, there are over 500 journals that have been published in Malaysia and are listed in the MyJurnal database, with 107 journals themed on writing in the field of Islamic studies. As such, this study aims to identify the themes and styles of reference writing that are set by the publishers of journals in the field of Islamic studies. Through a qualitative research methodology that is based on the content analysis approach, the results of the study found that there are five main themes for the journals, namely, the field of Islamic studies in general, the field of Sharia, the field of al-Quran and hadith, the field of faith and thought, and the field of Islamic history. In addition, 94 journals (87.85%) have used the American Psychological Association (APA) reference style, while the remaining 13 journals (12.14%) have applied The Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) style. Therefore, this disclosure can help the authors in the preparation and writing of article manuscripts. The selection of themes and adherence to the format that are outlined by the publisher is the main criteria for the acceptance of an article to be published in a scientific journal

    Pelaksanaan kursus pra-perkahwinan Islam untuk golongan OKU pendengaran di Malaysia: The implementation of Islamic premarital course for deaf group in Malaysia

    The Islamic Pre-Marriage Course is among the requirements in marriage application procedures that must be fulfilled by Muslim brides-to-be in Malaysia. The purpose of this course is to provide basic knowledge of life for the bride and groom-to-be. However, the deaf group is excluded from attending this course as there is no special course conducted for them by the state Islamic department. Thus, some of them attended the pre-marriage course organised for a typical group.The objective of this article is to study the implementation of the current pre-marriage course that also involves the participation of deaf people and the challenges encountered by the deaf person and the sign language interpreters while conducting the course session.The research methodology is qualitative, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with the Islamic religious department officers and sign language interpreters who are involved in the pre-marriage course. The data gathered are analysed descriptively and thematically. The research outcomes reveal a lack of specific organisation of the Islamic pre-marriage course for deaf people, a methodology of delivering lectures based on the typical group method, and difficulties in delivering the content of the lecture encountered by the sign language interpreter while conveying talks to the deaf person. The implication of the discussion shows the importance of organising an Islamic pre-marital course for the deft group in order to give them the opportunity to understand the pre-marriage knowledge enjoyed by typical men

    Analisis literatur sistematik: impak elemen spiritual terhadap kejayaan usahawan Muslim: Systematic literature review: the impact of spiritual elements on successful Muslim entrepreneur

    The world of entrepreneurs in Malaysia has been led by Muslims. This has contributed to the growth of the Muslim economy. There are issues of failure in business management based on Islamic spiritual values. Spirituality is the process of the internal development of the soul. In Islam, it is based on faith in life, believing and trusting in Allah Almighty, while application of the tauhid paradigm in both this world and the hereafter are related affairs. The purpose of the study is to analyse the potential of spiritual elements in the success of Muslim entrepreneurs. In this article, the researchers applied the Systematic Literature Review methodology, which focuses on research objectives. This article uses three (3) steps to analyse selected articles, i.e., identification, screening, and eligibility. The outcome of this study was the establishment of five (5) journal articles that discussed spiritual elements that played an important role in the success of Muslim entrepreneurs based on religious practises and values that were applied in entrepreneurship. The analysis found that belief in Allah and the practise of religious values helped to enhance confidence and build the strong personalities and traits of successful entrepreneurs. This is contributed by the elements of gratitude (Shukr), approval (riḍā), and reliance (tawakkal) after the best effort. Therefore, this study is expected to contribute to the research on entrepreneurship in Malaysia, especially for the Muslim community

    Keperluan SOP Khusus untuk Tahanan dan Penyiasatan Individu Autisme: Necessity of Standard Operation Procedure for Detention and Interrogation of Individual with Autism

    Autism is one group of neurological disorder that affects one’s communication skills, social interaction and repetitive and stereotype behavior. Due to their behavior, they tend to have obsessive interest, no empathy and moral reasoning. Previous cases in Western countries show that some of them are also involved with serious criminal offences such as killing, arson, random shooting, cybercrime and sexual offences. In Malaysia, increasing amount of autism with the ratio of 1 to 68 of normal or mentally sound individual resulted in the necessity to address specific legal rights of autism who may involve in criminal. Meanwhile, the standard operation procedure (SOP) used during detention and interrogation procedure of mentally sound individual is also applied towards any suspect including individual with autism. The enforcement of the SOP eventually lead to arises of various problems, reaction and question from the aspect of the validity of the action and legal rights of autism. The objective of the study is to analyze the character of autism that tends to criminal’s behavior and the need to create specific SOP for detention and interrogation of individual with autism. The research framework is content analysis. The method of gathering data is semi-structure interview with police, senior counselor and psychiatrist in the field of autism as well as teachers of special education programmed. The implication of the discussion discovers the need to have specific SOP of detention and interrogation for individual with autism in order to guarantee criminal legal rights of individual with autism
