Wacana skematik ayat dialog dalam surah Yusuf: Schematic discourse of dialogue verses in surah Yusuf
The study aims to identify the superstructure (schematic) of the dialogue in surah Yusuf. To identify the schematic in the story, discourse analysis is used as a tool to analyse it. The analysis process was based on inductive theory combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. The qualitative approach was used to identify the schematic in the dialogue. The identified schematic elements served as a reference for the quantitative approach. The quantitative approach was utilised to calculate the percentage of the type and quantity of dialogues. The results demonstrate that two-way discussion predominates the narrative of the Prophet Joseph in 26 of the surah’s dialogues. The dialogues which feature only human interaction consist of a three-part structure; the beginning, development and resolution

The Quran as a Source of Ethical and Moral Guidance in Contemporary Society: Al-Quran Sebagai Sumber Panduan Etika dan Moral dalam Masyarakat Kontemporari
Contemporary societies are confronted with a multifaceted range of ethical and moral problems, many of which arise from a confluence of powerful societal forces, including terrorism, globalisation, materialism, consumerism, and rapid changes in technology and social structures. The Quran's moral teachings remain crucial in addressing these issues and providing relevant solutions for modern dilemmas. As such, this study explores the Quran as an important source of ethical and moral guidance for humanity in contemporary society. Content analysis was employed to identify key Quranic verses that have potential implications for ethical and moral conduct in modern society. Keywords such as “justice,” “compassion and mercy,” “honesty and truthfulness,” “stewardship,” “humility and modesty,” and “generosity and charity” were used to locate relevant verses. A detailed examination of the Quranic verses and analysis of the findings reveal that the Quran indeed emphasizes the importance of several timeless principles, including justice, compassion, honesty, stewardship, humility, and generosity. The findings also demonstrate that the Quran offers a comprehensive framework for ethical conduct relevant to addressing issues such as injustice, dishonesty, environmental degradation, and social inequality in contemporary society. Therefore, this research recommends the incorporation of the Quran’s ethical teachings into educational curricula, especially in Muslim-majority societies, to foster a generation grounded in the practical application of Islamic values in modern life.
Contribution: This study highlights the Quran's ethical teachings as vital for addressing modern challenges, recommending their integration into educational curricula to nurture individuals grounded in practical applications of Islamic values in modern life
Ciri berita bernilai dalam komunikasi dakwah oleh pendakwah selebriti wanita menerusi video instagram: Newsworthiness in communications of da‘wa through video on instagram by female celebrity preachers: Qualitative content analysis
Da‘wa through social media is considered one of the alternatives for reaching and guiding society on the teachings of Islam. Female preachers are actively engaging in utilizing this medium for da‘wa, particularly through Instagram. However, the primary challenge in da‘wa on Instagram lies in achieving a high reach for posts. One strategy to engage readers in news reporting is by employing the criteria of newsworthiness within posts. This research endeavors to investigate Instagram reels created by female celebrity preachers, evaluating their alignment with newsworthiness criteria based on views and likes. The study adopts a qualitative approach, conducting content analysis on 25 reels produced by five selected female celebrity preachers over a six-month period. This analysis is guided by the Discursive News Value Analysis theory proposed by Bednarek & Caple. Findings indicate that human interest emerges as the primary criterion, constituting 26% of the total reels examined. Following this, impact criteria account for 23%, with proximity criteria representing 20%. Timeliness criteria are observed at 16%, while conflict criteria rank the lowest at 15%. The study concludes by discussing recommendations for preachers, particularly on Instagram, aiming to enhance their effectiveness in reaching and engaging the target audience
Muslim fashion development strategy in the ḥalāl industry in Indonesia: Some notes from the Quran and Hadith: Strategi pembangunan fesyen Muslim dalam industri halal di Indonesia: Beberapa nota daripada al-Quran dan Hadis
This article aims to analyse the internal and external factors that influence the development of the Muslim fashion industry in the context of the ḥalāl industry in Indonesia and formulate appropriate strengthening strategies based on the results of the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis. This research uses a mixed approach, or a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods (mixed method), in the form of an exploratory sequential design, using the SWOT analysis technique. The research results indicate that the Muslim fashion industry in Indonesia has several strengths, which include a large domestic market, increased awareness of Sharia-compliant fashion, as well as ethnic diversity and traditions. It also shows Islam as a religion that promotes respect for cultural diversity, as Allah created humans in various forms, languages, and cultures (al-Ḥujurāt [49]: 13). Several weaknesses were identified, including a lack of access to necessary resources and technology. In terms of opportunities, they can be obtained through the increasing global demand for ḥalāl products, the opportunity to innovate in Sharia-compliant fashion design, and the demand for eco-friendly products. These are in line with Allah’s command to His caliphs to preserve the environment, among which are found in al-A‘rāf [7]: 85 and al-Qaṣaṣ [28]: 77. However, threats such as global competition and regulatory changes can hamper industry growth. Therefore, strengthening strategies are urgently needed in several main areas, to strengthen the domestic Muslim fashion market, encourage the market for Muslim fashion products, collaborate with other ḥalāl sectors, and control the export market
Performing Obligatory Prayer While Hospitalised: Perspectives of Muslim Patients in a Teaching Hospital in Malaysia: Melaksanakan Solat Wajib Semasa di Hospital: Perspektif Pesakit Muslim dalam Sebuah Hospital Pengajar Malaysia
Supporting obligatory prayer for patients has become the focus of the healthcare system in Malaysia since the 1990s. Despite frameworks, guidelines, and facilities for the patients, recent studies have reported the number of patients who perform obligatory prayers at the hospital is still low. The reasons for this are unclear. In understanding the issue, this study explores the challenges of Muslim patients in performing prayer during hospitalisation. Using a qualitative single-embedded case study design, adult Muslims admitted to a teaching hospital on the East Coast of Malaysia for over 24 hours and fluent in Malay or English were recruited. Data were collected between October 2021 and August 2022 through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. The data were analysed using the framework technique facilitated by NVivo software version 12. 18 participants were involved, and several themes emerged: perceptions towards Allah and misconceptions about leniency, feelings of uncleanliness and unsuitability to pray, and insufficient support. Despite being aware of the prayer obligation, patients' misconceptions about leniency led to disengagement from prayer activities.
Contribution: The study captures the personal experiences and challenges faced by Muslim patients. It allows a deeper understanding of how hospital environments, personal perceptions, and support systems affect spiritual practices during hospitalisation. While frameworks and guidelines exist to support patients in performing obligatory prayers, this study highlights a critical gap between these provisions and actual patient behaviour. By identifying challenges such as misconceptions about leniency and cleanliness, the study sheds light on previously underexplored reasons for low prayer engagement
Analisis Keperluan Pembangunan Modul Pencegahan Kemurungan Menurut Perspektif Hadis: Need Analysis on the Development of a Hadith-Based Depression Prevention Module
Depression is a mental illness that has been reported to be on the rise, particularly among youth today. The statistics regarding depression are likely to continue increasing if preventive measures are not adequately emphasized. In this context, the present study aims to provide an initial overview of the rising cases of depression in Malaysia. Furthermore, this study seeks to underscore the necessity of developing a depression prevention module from the perspective of hadith. To address the research questions, this study will employ a comprehensive content analysis approach. Consequently, the researchers hope that this study can shed light on the necessity of creating a depression prevention module grounded in hadith. Additionally, this research is intended to encourage further investigation by scholars to develop depression prevention modules based on hadith perspectives. Through the development of such modules, it is anticipated that they will benefit individuals suffering from depression, healthcare practitioners, counsellors, and psychologists in addressing and preventing depression among Muslims, particularly in Malaysia.
Contribution: This research highlights the need to develop a Hadith-based depression prevention module. By mentioning the current situation of depressive disorder in Malaysia, this research also compares the existing depression prevention module in order to underscore the main objective for such a module that needs to be developed
Tanazzul al-Qur’ān dalam Sharḥ al-Ḥikam al-Ghawthiyyah: Sorotan hikmah pertama kitab al-Ḥikam al-Ghawthiyyah karya Syeikh Abū Madyan al-Maghribī (W. 594 H.): Tanazzul al-Qur’ān in Sharḥ al-Ḥikam al-Ghawthiyyah: Highlights of the first wisdom of al-Ḥikam al-Ghawthiyyah by Sheikh Abū Madyan al-Maghribī (D. 594 AH.)
