The effectiveness of using Nearpod media on the learning outcomes of grade XI students in geography subject at SMA Negeri 4 Sidrap
This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Nearpod media in improving the Geography learning outcomes of Grade XI Social Science students at SMA Negeri 4 Sidrap. The main issue addressed is the low student motivation and participation due to monotonous teaching methods. This research employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 19 students as the sample. Data were collected through tests and questionnaires, then analyzed using the mean formula. The results showed an increase in the average score from 60.5 (pre-test) to 85 (post-test). The majority of students achieved scores above the minimum passing grade (KKM) and demonstrated improvements in task completion punctuality. In conclusion, Nearpod media is effective in enhancing students' learning outcomes, comprehension, and discipline

The Influence of Online Games and Social Media on Student Learning Motivation Moderated by Self-Control
Using self-control as a moderating variable, this study attempts to examine how social media and online games affect students' motivation to learn at Padang State University's Faculty of Economics and Business. Students' extensive usage of digital technology can affect their motivation to learn in both positive and negative ways. Since social media and online games are two of the most popular digital activities, it is critical to look at how they affect students' motivation for learning. This study employed a quantitative methodology, gathering information from current students at Padang State University's Faculty of Economics and Business via questionnaires. For data analysis, moderated regression techniques were employed. The findings demonstrated that playing online games significantly reduced motivation to learn, while social media exhibited varying effects depending on the intensity and purpose of use. It has been demonstrated that Self-control lessens social media's influence. and online gaming on learning motivation. Students with high levels of self-control were able to manage their use of online games and social media more wisely so as not to interfere with their learning motivation. These result

Improving Students’ Reading Comprehension On Descriptive Text Through Structured Note–Taking Strategy
This research aimed to improve the reading comprehension of tenth-grade students in understanding descriptive text by implementing the Structured Note-Taking Strategy at SMA Swasta Budi Agung Medan. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), carried out in two cycles, each comprising the phases of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants included 35 students from class X Muhammad Hatta, who faced challenges in recognizing main idea, supporting details, and structuring essential information from the text. Data collection involved both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Quantitative data were gathered through multiple-choice comprehension tests, while qualitative data were obtained from observation sheets, interviews, documentation, and field notes. The results demonstrated consistent improvement over the two cycles, with the students’ average score rising from 50.86 in the pre-test to 74.71 after the first cycle, and further increasing to 86.85 following the second cycle. These findings indicate that the Structured Note-Taking Strategy effectively aided students in identifying and organizing key information within descriptive text. These results suggest that the Structured Note-Taking Strategy effectively supported students in identify and organize important information in descriptive text, This strategy is suggested for broader application in reading activities to further strengthen students’ comprehension
Enhancing Student Engagement and Critical Thinking through the AERO Staged Pedagogy in EFL Higher Education
This study investigates the implementation of the AERO (Activation → Exploration → Reflection → Outcome) framework as a staged pedagogy to enhance student engagement and critical thinking skills among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners at Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang, Indonesia. Employing a mixed-method design with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest approach, the research involved 22 undergraduate students enrolled in an academic writing course. Quantitative data were collected through a student engagement questionnaire and a critical thinking test adapted from the Watson–Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal (WGCTA), while qualitative data were obtained from classroom observations and focus group discussions (FGD). Results revealed moderate to high engagement across cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions, supported by qualitative evidence of increased participation, motivation, and collaboration during the staged activities. Although the improvement in critical thinking test scores (M_pre = 3.73; M_post = 4.27) was not statistically significant (p > .05), qualitative findings demonstrated notable cognitive shifts toward analytical, evaluative, and reflective reasoning. The AERO stages fostered progressive scaffolding, transferring learning responsibility from teacher to student while promoting reflective, evidence-based argumentation. Theoretically, this study contributes to EFL pedagogy by linking three engagement dimensions with four critical thinking subskills within a coherent process model. Practically, AERO offers a replicable design framework for fostering student-centered learning, reflective inquiry, and critical literacy in EFL classrooms. Recommendations for future research include extending the intervention period and exploring AERO’s application in digital or hybrid learning contexts
Perkembangan Literasi Informasi Masa Dinasti Abbasiyah
This article aims to explain the Development of Information Literacy during the Abbasid Dynasty. The method used by the researcher is Literature Review. It can be concluded that during the Abbasid Dynasty, literacy and science experienced rapid progress thanks to the policies of the caliphs who supported the dissemination of knowledge and the translation of works from various civilizations. Institutions such as Baitul Hikmah and madrasahs played an important role in education, research, and the development of science, allowing Muslim communities to access broader knowledge. Discussion-based learning methods and library cataloging systems helped disseminate knowledge systematically. In addition, various disciplines, both Islamic and general, developed with the contributions of Muslim scientists in the fields of mathematics, medicine, chemistry, philosophy, and astronomy, strengthening the intellectual foundations of the Islamic world. The translation movement carried out by Abbasid scientists not only enriched the Islamic world but also had a major influence on the development of global science. The continuity of the academic tradition built in this era contributed to the modern education system and intellectual revival in Europe. The value of literacy and the integration of various disciplines from the Abbasid period remain the main principles in the academic world today, encouraging critical thinking, innovation, and more open access to information for the wider community
