Analysis of the Implementation of the TPACK-Based Problem-Based Learning Model on Students’ Critical Thinking Skills in Flat Shape Material in Grade 2 of SD Negeri Laweyan Surakarta

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze in depth the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model based on Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) and its influence on the critical thinking skills of second-grade students at SD Negeri Laweyan Surakarta. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving three second-grade students as research subjects. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, with data obtained from both primary and secondary sources. The validity of the data was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. Data analysis was carried out through several stages: data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the implementation of the TPACK-based PBL model can foster students’ critical thinking skills in solving problems related to two-dimensional shapes, although the overall level remained moderate. Students in the high category demonstrated accurate understanding and problem  solving, while those in the moderate category were able to answer correctly though only on certain types of questions. Students in the low category experienced difficulties in understanding and solving problems. Several obstacles identified during the implementation process included limited instructional time, differences in students' cognitive abilities, and difficulties in recalling and expressing the material that had been learned

Literature as Periscope: Using Narrative Discussion to Cultivate Empathy and Moral Reasoning in Students

    Get PDF
In an era marked by declining empathy and growing social polarization, education faces an urgent task to nurture moral sensitivity and intercultural understanding. This study explores how narrative discussion of literature can foster empathy and moral reasoning among pre-service English teachers in a rural Indonesian university. Adopting a mixed-methods design, the research involved 20 undergraduate students who participated in a six-week intervention integrating literary reading, guided group dialogue, and reflective writing. Quantitative data from the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) and Defining Issues Test-2 (DIT-2) were analyzed using paired-sample t-tests, while qualitative data from reflective journals and classroom observations underwent thematic analysis. Results revealed significant improvements in empathy (t(19) = 8.26, p < .001, d = 1.85) and moral reasoning (t(19) = 7.48, p < .001, d = 1.67). Thematic findings highlighted emotional resonance, perspective transformation, and ethical sensitivity as key processes underlying moral growth. The study introduces the Narrative-Driven Empathy Formation Model (NDEFM), explaining how narrative engagement, dialogic reflection, and ethical internalization interact to cultivate moral awareness. Situated within a Southeast Asian, collectivist context, this research extends global theories of moral education by demonstrating that literature-based pedagogy can serve as a culturally responsive approach to developing empathy and ethical reasoning. The findings underscore the potential of literature as both a pedagogical and moral periscope—enabling students to explore, reflect, and act upon the moral complexities of human experience

PQRST (Preview, Question, Read, State, Test) Method’s Effectiveness towards Reading Comprehension of Analytical Exposition Text at SMAN 1 Katibung

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the PQRST method in improving students' reading comprehension of analytical exposition texts. The research design employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design involving two groups: the experimental group, which was taught using the PQRST method, and the control group, which received passive instruction through direct teacher explanations. Data were collected through a reading comprehension test to measure students' understanding. The Independent Sample T-test result indicates significant differences between the experimental and control groups' post-test scores. The two-tailed significance (Sig) value was 0.000, which is lower than the significance level of α = 0.050, confirming a statistically significant difference between the two groups. The experimental group, which applied the PQRST method, scored higher than the control group. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the PQRST method significantly enhances students' reading comprehension of analytical exposition texts

This study aims to determine the effect of using Articulate Storyline 3 learning media on student learning outcomes in the subject of Arts and Culture in class XII UPT SMA Negeri 10 Sidenreng Rappang. The research method used is quantitative with a true experimental type. The research sample consisted of 36 students who were divided into two groups, namely the experimental group using Articulate Storyline 3 learning media and the control group using conventional learning methods. Data collection techniques were carried out through learning outcome tests in the form of multiple choices and documentation. Data were obtained through learning outcome tests and analyzed using statistical tests to see the differences between the two groups. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students who used Articulate Storyline 3 learning media and those who did not use it. The average value of the experimental group was higher than the control group (87.11> 68.88). This proves that the use of Articulate Storyline 3 as a learning medium can improve student learning outcomes in the subject of arts and culture

Implementation of the Play-Based Learning Method in Dance Arts Learning to Enhance Early Childhood Creativity at As-Solehah Kindergarten, Bawen

    Get PDF
This study aims to describe the implementation of the play-based learning method in dance education as a strategy to enhance early childhood creativity at TK As-Solehah Bawen. Creativity is an essential aspect of child development that can be nurtured through expressive, arts-based activities. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included a dance teacher, the school principal, and early childhood students. The findings reveal that play-based learning was implemented through activities that integrate play, imagination, and movement exploration, such as role-playing, improvisational dance, and thematic movement. The teacher acted as a facilitator who provided movement stimuli and allowed space for the children to express themselves freely. This method was proven to increase student engagement, self-confidence, and originality in movement. Furthermore, a joyful and contextual learning environment helped strengthen the growth of children's creativity. The analysis of this study draws on Vygotsky’s sociocultural development theory, particularly the concepts of the zone of proximal development, scaffolding, and imaginative play, which emphasize the role of social interaction and play in supporting children's cognitive and creative development. This study recommends strengthening teachers’ capacity to design systematic and sustainable play-based dance education in early childhood learning setting

The Impact of Online Gambling Intensity on Anxiety, Stress, and Depression in Adolescents in Cilegon City: A Social and Education Approach

    Get PDF
The phenomenon of online gambling among adolescents in Cilegon City continues to rise and is linked to mental health problems. However, empirical evidence on how much the intensity of play influences anxiety, stress, and depression remains limited. This causal-comparative quantitative study involved 30 adolescents aged 15–21 selected through purposive sampling. Participants were divided into two groups: 15 “occasional” and 15 “frequent” online gamblers. Instruments were 4-point Likert-scale questionnaires measuring anxiety (α = 0.763), stress (α = 0.745), and depression (α = 0.781); item validity met the criterion r > 0.3. Data were analyzed with MANOVA using SPSS 31.0. MANOVA revealed a significant simultaneous effect (Wilks’ Lambda = 0.176; F = 13.004; p < 0.001). Follow-up tests showed strong effects of intensity on anxiety (F = 31.136; η² = 0.536), stress (F = 15.942; η² = 0.368), and depression (F = 20.806; η² = 0.424). Mean scores on all three psychological aspects were significantly higher in the “frequent play” group. These findings align with previous studies emphasizing that repeated exposure to financial and social risks in online gambling increases adolescents’ cognitive–emotional burden, with effect contributions up to 53.6 % indicating intensity as a primary predictor. The more frequently adolescents engage in online gambling, the higher their levels of anxiety, stress, and depression become. Family, school, and digital-regulation-based interventions are needed to prevent further psychopathological impacts
