    No full text
World consumption of energy is estimated to increase by 49 % from 2007 to 2035, which means averagely 1.4 % yr-1. Many countries in the world began to develop alternative energy that can overcome the resources. Microalgae is one of the renewable energy that has excellent potential for making biodiesel because it contains much oil. Microalgae is the fastest organism in the photosynthesis, so it makes microalgae have high productivity. In this article, researchers use Chlorella sp. because these microalgae contain oil up to 28 % to 32 % from its dry weight, and on the other hand, this type of microalgae is easy to grow and easy to harvest. From the experimental results, the density characteristics of biodiesel Chlorella sp. have values from 0.84 g mL-1 to 0.848 g mL-1, and it is lower than the density of petroleum (diesel), and viscosity value from 2.5 cSt to 3.91 cSt, cetane numbers 51.17 to 53.72 also heating value 44.04 mJ kg-1 and Flashpoint 131 °C. The characteristic result shows that the Chlorella sp. microalgae biodiesel is still in SNI standard (Indonesia National Standard) so that the Chlorella sp. can be used as a substitute diesel fuel

The balance between real estate developments and infrastructure of maritime sector in the coastal area of a city is explored in this study. Network of public spaces, maritime sector and its impact on shadow economy are main objectives of this research. New real estate developments next to water have valuable benefits resulting in overall attractiveness of cityscape. However, coordination between strategic city planning, urban design and maritime sector is required to achieve best results. Also, inferior planning of ports and other maritime infrastructure could lead to increased shadow economy, which makes significant negative impact on overall economy and in-turn ability to successfully develop further public space

The byssate false mussel Mytilopsis sp. was identified for the first time in the Cayman Islands in May 2018. It occurred in the mangrove backwaters on the northern coast of Grand Cayman in great abundance. Mytilopsis spp. are highly invasive in many semi-tropical to tropical regions globally and are almost certainly spread by vessels. Identification of Mytilopsis species is difficult, as previously used morphological identification characters are highly variable and so, here we report on its occurrence in Grand Cayman, likely further spread and discuss the difficulties in its identification

Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are aggravated from 5 to 15 percent of all pregnancies worldwide and are the leading cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality. In Lithuania in 2009 hypertensive disorders of pregnancy were complicated by about 5 percent of all pregnancies, 2014 – 7 percent of all pregnancies, and in 2018 – 6-10 percent of all pregnancies. Gestational hypertension adversely affects the health of both the fetus and the pregnant woman, and thus the health-related quality of life of the pregnant woman. They can cause pregnancy anxiety, and conversely, pregnancy anxiety can be one of the causes of gestational hypertension. The aim of research – to determine the connections between signs of gestational hypertension, health-related quality of life, and pregnancy anxiety. The methods of research. A quantitative study was performed. Instrument used - a survey consisting of 3 questionnaires: Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy Questionnaire; SF-36 Questionnaire; Pregnancy-related Anxiety Scale (PrAS). The sample consisted of 200 respondents. A descriptive data analysis was performed by using statistic software package IBM SPSS 26.0 for Windows. The research was conducted in accordance with ethical principles. The main results. Respondents scored an average of 32.59(±6,45) out of 65 possible scores for their gestational hypertension. On average, they rated their health-related quality of life at 58.05(±18,21) out of 100 points available. Respondents rated pregnancy-related anxiety at an average of 72.53(±12,29) points out of a possible 132 points. A negative statistically significant relationship (r=-0.19; p=0.004) was found between the signs of gestational hypertension and health-related quality of life. A statistically significant association (r=0.23; p=0.001) was found between the totals of signs gestational hypertension and pregnancy-related anxiety. A statistically significant negative relationship (r=-0.38; p=0.029) was found between the health-related quality of life and pregnancy anxiety scores. Conclusion. The results of the study suggest that the more pronounced signs of gestational hypertension lead to poorer health-related quality of life and increased pregnancy-related anxiety. Increasing pregnancy anxiety adversely affects the health-related quality of life of pregnant women with gestational hypertension

Legal framework for the training of health care specialists in the health care system of Lithuania to work with the disabled /

    No full text
Introduction:Health care is one of the most important fields not only in individual countries, but globally as well, yet it remains one of the most sensitive topics, too. Global organisations have calculated that one out of seven residents around the world has some sort of disability. It is very likely that due to various processes, the number of people with disabilities will increase. Therefore, the world in general and each country in particular, Lithuania included, faces a great challenge: to ensure suitable and high-quality accessibility to health care services for the disabled. Each country must have clear political guidelines and strategies how to ensure training of health care specialists qualified and able to carry out their tasks when working with the disabled. Therefore, this article analyses global trends of training specialists to work with the disabled and legal basis of such specialist training in Lithuania. Methods:This article features analysis of scientific literary sources and legal documents. Results:International and national Lithuanian documents have clearly established that people with disabilities have equal rights to health care services like the rest of the population without any reservations, so this norm must be established adhering to the principles of accessibility, suitability and universality, and which basically should be ensured by health care specialists. However, document analysis has revealed that documents governing the training of health care specialists in Lithuania and processes related to it pay little attention to the training of future health care specialists to work with the disabled, while descriptions of some specific areas of studies, e.g. dentistry, pharmacy, etc. designed to train health care specialists do no address the work with the disabled at all. Discussion and conclusions:Analysis has revealed that institutions of higher education in Lithuania that train health care specialists are not legally entitled to, other requirements aside, to focus the study process on the work with the disabled. Therefore, it begs the question whether such specialists are actually ready to implement the requirements guiding the provision of health care services and ensure top-quality and proper provision of services to all members of the society, irrespective of their special needs, disabilities, etc. Therefore, this article can serve as a basis for further research related to the training of health care specialists to work with the disabled in order to identify what practice is applied in this area in other countries, as well as to ensure it internationally, what are the options and means required to implement it and how to improve the training of health care specialists as much as possible to work with the disabled ensuring the quality of health care in particular and their life in general

Klaipėda is losing economically active, educated people due to migration, therefore the port city is characterized by “brain drain”. In addition, Klaipėda city population is rapidly aging. Due to the lack of labour resources and their quality, further economic and social development of the city becomes problematic. The largest proportion of young people who come to live in Klaipėda is from Klaipėda County (40.8 %), Tauragė County (36 %) and Telšiai County (23.2 %). According to the survey of young population originating from Klaipėda city and Western Lithuania, their perspectives and opportunities in Klaipėda were determined. More than half of pupils of the port city think that Klaipėda is attractive and as many as 42.6 % of them plan to live in the port city. If the aim is to keep young people in Klaipėda, they must be included in the port city life. There must be enough jobs in the city for people with different levels of education. There is also a need for more cultural events that are affordable not only for high-income people but also for pupils or young people who are starting their lives in the city. In addition, it is important that the city is safe to live, study and work

The concept of quality management in the creation of a welfare state: level of Lithuanian regions.

    No full text
The thesis determined that realisation of the welfare state can be accelerated by a set of conceptual provisions of quality management, which are analysed and discerned by various researchers, but in the process of achieving this, it is very important that regional authorities promote application of quality management. The research found that in the plans of regional development measures of Lithuanian regions for 2014–2020, when planning the balanced development of regions and focusing on quality pursuit, the set of conceptual provisions of quality management is not fully integrated in the regional context. Also, it was established that 4 out of 10 Lithuanian regions do not even provide for quality management as an aspiration in their development action plans. And based on the principle of ranking regional centers, it has been established that Šiauliai and Panevėžys regions are most focused on quality. However, not all opportunities are to take advantage of in order to integrate quality management into public sector activities to achieve the realization of the welfare state at the level of the Lithuanian regions

The object of the research is the cognitive learning style of college students and the application of personalized learning in developing their abilities. Objectives of the research: 1. To analyze the scientific literature and reveal the theoretical assumptions of the harmony of personalized learning and cognitive styles in developing students' abilities. 2. To determine the individual cognitive style of the study participants on the basis of a scientifically approved tool developed according to the typology of cognitive styles of P. Honey and A. Mumford (2006). 3. To carry out a qualitative research and during the interview to determine the attitude of the research participants (college students) to the development of students 'abilities, applying personalized learning taking into account the respondents' individual cognitive style and didactic and learning methods. 4. Develop guidelines for the application of personalized learning, taking into account individual cognitive styles. The main results of the research. It was found that personalization of learning during studies in terms of hobbies, needs, cognitive styles is not satisfactory. However, the use of information communication technologies (eg Moodle platform, Zoom via conference) in the study process expands their opportunities for personalized learning due to the following factors: flexible time and space, reflexive interaction of students and teachers, personalization of learning content and studies and learning process. The coherence of cognitive styles and personalized learning can be effective in developing students ’abilities and can be applied to individualize learning, improve learning to learn competencies, or create adaptive and referral learning environments

    No full text
The ambitious new International Maritime Organization (IMO) strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from ships will shape the future path towards the decarbonization of the fleet and will bring further ecological challenges. In order to replace the larger oil-based part of marine fuel with components from renewable sources, it is necessary to develop multi-component blends. In this work, biomethanol and biodiesel with two additives—dodecanol and 2-ethylhexyl nitrate—in 20 blends with marine diesel oil (MDO) were selected as alternative components to replace the pure marine diesel oil-based part of marine fuel. For this purpose, two base blends of diesel and biodiesel with and without additives were produced with biomethanol from 0 to 30% (volume basis). Of all the blends, the blends with 5% (volume basis) methanol had the best property profile in terms of density, kinematic viscosity, calorific value, cloud point, and cetane index according to the ISO 8217:2017 standard (DMB grade) in compliance with the IMO requirements for marine fuels. However, the flash point must be increased. The boiling behavior of the blends was also investigated. A cluster analysis was used to evaluate the similarity between the blends based on their different physical properties
