A narrative review of motor competence in children and adolescents: what we know and what we need to find out /

    No full text
Lack of physical activity is a global public health problem causing not only morbidity and premature mortality, but it is also a major economic burden worldwide. One of the cornerstones of a physically active lifestyle is Motor Competence (MC). MC is a complex biocultural attribute and therefore, its study requires a multi-sectoral, multi-, inter- and transdisciplinary approach. MC is a growing area of research, especially in children and adolescents due to its positive association with a plethora of health and developmental outcomes. Many questions, however, remain to be answered in this field of research, with regard to: (i) Health and Developmental-related Associations of MC; (ii) Assessment of MC; (iii) Prevalence and Trends of MC; (iv) Correlates and Determinants of MC; (v) MC Interventions, and (vi) Translating MC Research into Practice and Policy. This paper presents a narrative review of the literature, summarizing current knowledge, identifying key research gaps and presenting questions for future investigation on MC in children and adolescents. This is a collaborative effort from the International Motor Competence Network (IMCNetwork) a network of academics and researchers aiming to promote international collaborative research and knowledge translation in the expansive field of MC. The knowledge and deliverables generated by addressing and answering the aforementioned research questions on MC presented in this review have the potential to shape the ways in which researchers and practitioners promote MC and physical activity in children and adolescents across the world

Investigation of mechanical state of reinforced beams with cracks by the ZI method: algorithm and calculation results /

    No full text
The mechanical state of reinforcement concrete beams with cracks, which are acted by axial force and bending moment, is investigated. The considered ZI method is a compromise between high accuracy and volume of costs, when real curve diagrams are applied to describe the properties of materials and solution is rationally simplified by engineering assumptions. The paper presents the main formulas and algorithm for solving of engineering problems by using the ZI method. Three groups of beams have been calculated to represent the results. Two cross sections of cracked reinforced concrete beams have been analysed: at the crack and in the middle between cracks. Depending on increasing of the bending moment, the change of the location of the neutral line has been determined, diagrams of strains and stresses have been made. The possibility to take into account the deviations of the reinforcement strains from the plane section has been illustrated. The values of the bending curvatures of the beams have been also determined. The calculation results have been compared with the results of laboratory experiments, conclusions have been presented

This work discusses the demographic ageing of the population, the theoretical aspects and trends of it. After examining the Lithuanian action on healthy ageing, applying healthy ageing in the USA to ensure healthy ageing in Lithuania is discussed. The work aims to analyze the factors of healthy ageing in Lithuania and the USA and the practical application of good practice. Work methods A qualitative study was performed in the thesis. Data were collected by an in-depth semi-structured interview method. The interviews were collected from November 2020 to 2021 at the participants' place of residence or remotely. The study now includes 11 physically and mentally healthy people aged 90-96 living in Lithuania. Age informants: eight women and three men. Research results. The basis of healthy long-term ageing in Lithuania is the internal coherence characteristic of healthy long-lived people. Guided by internal coherence, informants can manage stress in difficult situations, make health-friendly decisions without starting or giving up smoking, moderate alcohol consumption, nourishing healthy foods, and maintaining good relationships with loved ones remaining physically active, having activities, not being afraid to die. Conclusion. According to research conducted by other authors, the healthy ageing factors in the USA are essentially the same as in Lithuania. As the phenomenon, the USA healthy longevity of route extension differs from the rest of the world, an example of the USA practical experiences of healthy ageing in the USA can be apresented by adapting them in Lithuania

Like burnout due to excessive work stress, parents also experience constant stress when raising their children, which leads to parental burnout. The COVID-19 pandemic that began worldwide in 2020 changed the daily living habits of all mankind. Parental unemployment, financial insecurity, low levels of social support from family and friends, and lack of leisure time during the pandemic significantly increased the risk of parental burnout. The aim of the research: to evaluate the signs of burnout of parents in Plungė district and their connections with well - being, lifestyle and social support. Research methods: In order to assess the signs of burnout of parents in Plungė district and their links with well-being, lifestyle and social support, a quantitative survey was conducted - a questionnaire survey. The survey of respondents was conducted by researchers from the Faculty of Health Sciences of Klaipeda University, in cooperation with researchers from Belgian and Dutch universities. All European Union countries participate in the study. The final work analyzes the results of the survey of respondents living in Plungė district. The research instrument consisted of 5 blocks of questions. The study involved 208 respondents living in Plungė district raising at least one child. Research results and conclusions. The parents of Plungė district studied in the study were characterized by a low level of parental burnout. A higher burnout rate was found in the father / mother role dimension of exhaustion. Exhaustion in this dimension was more common among parents who felt the negative consequences of the pandemic, their income decreased during quarantine, as well as parents whose children needed care in preparing food for them to eat. Nearly a third of the parents surveyed felt slightly unwell about the COVID-19 induced situation. Exhaustion in the father/mother role was associated with expressive emotional suppression. Bored feelings of parenthood had been associated with expressive suppression and malaise / despair for COVID-19. Emotional alienation had links to parental consensus, the contrast of the former self had connections with expressive suppression, cognitive overestimation, malaise / despair due to a situation caused by COVID-19

The blue mussel Mytilus spp. complex has re-appeared in the high Arctic in Svalbard after a thousand years, with the first recent indication of its appearance in 2002 at the mouth of Isfjorden on the west coast. We examine its genetic affinity to selected North Atlantic populations and the modes of spread that may be responsible for its recent re-colonisation. We record here its distribution on Svalbard archipelago along the north-western coastline and within Isfjorden collected over a seven years period. We record for the first time the intertidal occurrence that includes a presence close to a glacier front. Genetic composition of mussels Mytilus spp. from different Svalbard locations reveal similarities mainly with populations of M. edulis, M. trossulus and their hybrid from Western Europe, Faroe Island, Scotland and Norway. The re-introduction to Svalbard most probably involved shipping and natural or anthropogenic flotsam. It seems that a new transport vector - large plastic debris - plays a significant role in this process
