    On costumed processions in Žemaitija on Shrove Tuesday, the ‘beggars’ were and are among the main characters, as attested by the mask’s distribution area, the name ‘Shrovetide beggars’ being given to the whole band of masked people, and the relative abundance of the costumed “beggars”’ songs. This study examines some examples from the repertoire of Shrove Tuesday carnival songs in Žemaitija, parodies of religious hymns and folk songs, which the performers called hymns and which were performed in imitation of sacred singing.     Applying learning analytics in mathematics and science education lessons: experiences of teachers in basic education.

    Learning analytics is identified as one of the essential preconditions for ensuring the quality of learning for each student and is associated with the wider possibilities of organizing individualized learning. One of the priorities of Lithuanian education is the individualization and personalization of science and mathematics teaching, which is related to one of the priorities of Lithuanian education, that is recognizing the need to develop students' mathematics, science, and technology competencies as well as to foster a culture of innovation in schools. The importance of integrated teaching (learning) for the sustainable development of a student's science and mathematics competence is recognized. However, problems arise in addressing the issues of integrated science and mathematics organization in the classroom, in finding the most appropriate didactic solutions at the level of a student and a classroom. The benefits of learning analytics in modern education are not in doubt, but in educational practice the approach to it is ambiguous: the search for learning analytics tools, the system of its use, the definitions of benefits for the learner. It is acknowledged that in the discourse of the use of learning analytics in science education, there is little research, examples of pedagogical practice that contain analysis of the possibilities of digital platforms with artificial intelligence and learning analytics tools, and the analysis of teachers' experiences. In the conducted qualitative study (focus group discussion) with mathematics and science teachers, who have accumulated experience in working with digital platforms and applying artificial intelligence-based learning analytics, the possibilities of using learning analytics in the lesson have been disclosed. Focus groups participants are teachers who in 2021. September - December participated in a project with the aim to test learning analytics tools in science education and math lessons. The results of the study revealed that teachers do not question the benefits of integrating digital platforms with artificial intelligence-based learning analytics in identifying student (classroom) learning gaps, learning characteristics, and making evidence-based decisions about learning differentiation and individualization. The results of the focus group discussion with science education and mathematics teachers regarding the use of digital teaching and learning platforms integrating learning analytics in lessons revealed that the priority of learning analytics in lessons is to identify and capture gaps in students' learning achievements and knowledge in a timely manner. The analysis of a student (students) learning data that is provided by digital platforms, which integrate artificial intelligence and learning analytics, allows teachers to make the most appropriate decisions about the organization of teaching: to differentiate and individualize teaching, to consistently develop pupils' general competencies. The results of the discussion highlighted the benefits of learning analytics tools for the learner (students): learning analytics tools allow students to see personal progress; receive the tasks assigned to them individually; implement collaborative learning; engage (intellectually and emotionally) in learning activities; learn not only during lessons. An important criterion for the integration of mathematics and science lessons is the use of the learning analytics tools, the joint work of teachers in analyzing students' learning strengths and weaknesses, finding the best learning opportunities, and making similar or different lesson organization decisions. Participants of the study emphasized the importance of learning analytics data in planning and organizing integrated mathematics and science lessons, i.e. synergistic opportunities for learning analytics in the organization of integrated mathematics and science education. The results of the research do not allow making generalized conclusions that would be suitable for the whole Lithuania, however the results of the research revealed that the development of models for the application of learning analytics and the analysis of their effectiveness are important directions for further research

    Purpose: Prostate Health Index (PHI) and %p2PSA have demonstrated more accurate overall and aggressive prostate cancer (PC) detection at prostate biopsy level, however a significant number of PC patients undergo upgrading and upstaging following definitive surgery. The purpose of our study was to evaluate the ability of p2PSA and its derivatives to predict clinically significant PC at final pathology. Methods: Blood samples from 51 patients, who underwent radical prostatectomy (RP), were collected pre-operatively and tPSA, fPSA, as well as p2PSA values were estimated. %p2PSA, PHI and PHI density (PHID) were calculated according to the relevant formulas. Clinically significant PC was defined as ISUP (International Society of Urological Pathology) grade group ≥2 at final pathology. Results: Mean value of PHID was significantly higher (1.74 vs. 1.24, p = 0.031) in patients with clinically significant PC at final pathology. At ROC analysis, PHI, PHID and %fPSA were the most accurate predictors of clinically significant disease with AUC of 0.69, 0.70 and 0.76, respectively. PHI has demonstrated the best net benefit in predicting clinically significant PC at RP specimens. Conclusions: PHI and PHID demonstrate high predicting value of clinically significant PC at final RP pathology and may define more precisely the preoperative diagnosis of this disease

    Geographical assessment of derelict buildings and degrading areas: the case of Klaipeda city.

    This work describes and analyzes the location of abandoned buildings and degrading areas in Klaipeda and the reasons for their occurrence in the city. A study based on maps has been conducted to perform this work. The main data collected in this work are from a personal field and environmental monitoring method that has been conducted between the beginning of 2019 and the end of 2020. During the observation, all areas of the urbanized part of Klaipeda city were walked around. According to the selected criteria, the condition and status of buildings and territories were assessed and the locations and addresses of abandoned buildings or degrading territories were marked. The assessment was carried out on the basis of the basic methodology of the research, as there are currently no formal assessment criteria for abandoned buildings or degraded areas. During the observation, pictures were also taken with examples of abandoned buildings and degrading areas in Klaipeda. In the work, the whole city is divided into three parts: Southern, Central and Northern. This gives a clearer picture of which part of the city the situation is most demanding or vice versa. In general, this topic is relevant, as no exact number of abandoned buildings or degrading areas in the city is available in any data so far. The real data of Klaipeda City Municipality do not correspond to the real numbers, which also shows that there is currently no system for collecting data on abandoned buildings or degrading areas. The study shows that those buildings and areas are relatively open and highly visible

    Long-term effect of an exercise training program on physical functioning and quality of life in pulmonary hypertension: a randomized controlled trial /

    The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a 6-month combined aerobic and strength exercise training program on functional and psychological aspects and health-related quality of life in patients with PH and to evaluate its longer-term impact. In total, 22 stable patients (mean age , 13 female) with pulmonary hypertension of World Health Organization (WHO) class I-III participated in a nine-month study. They were randomly assigned into two groups: Group A participated in a 6-month combined aerobic and strength exercise training program, whereas Group B remained untrained. All patients underwent physical and psychological assessment at baseline and at month 6 (after completing the exercise program) and physical assessment after 9 months (3 months posttraining). After the 6-month exercise training program, patients of Group A significantly improved their physical (6MWD, STS 10 rep, STS 20 rep, TUG, lower limb strength, cardiopulmonary exercise time, METs, peak VO2, VCO2, and VE/VCO2 slope) and psychological aspects (SF-36, STAI, and BDI). Between the two groups, differences were observed at the 6MWD (95% CI: 36.2-64.6, ), STS 10 rep (95% CI: 6.6-2.2, ), STS 20 rep (95% CI: 10.8-2.4, ), lower limb strength (95% CI: 7.2-3.6, ), cardiopulmonary exercise time (95% CI: 0.1-3.3, .), and VCO2 (95% CI: 0.1-0.5, .). Additionally, psychological changes were noted at SF-36, PCS (95% CI: 3.6-14.8, ), MCS (95% CI: 1.3-16.1, ), TCS (95% CI: 1.3-16.1, ), and STAI (95% CI: 1.8-28.2, ). The favorable results of exercise were maintained at the 3-month posttraining follow-up assessment. No exercise-induced complications were observed throughout the study. In conclusion, a long-term exercise training program is a safe and effective intervention to improve functional status, psychological aspects, and health-related quality of life in patients with PH
