Unsupervised marine vessel trajectory prediction using LSTM network and wild bootstrapping techniques /
Increasing intensity in maritime traffic pushes the requirement in better preventionoriented incident management system. Observed regularities in data could help to predict vessel movement from previous vessels trajectory data and make further movement predictions under specific traffic and weather conditions. However, the task is burden by the fact that the vessels behave differently in different geographical sea regions, sea ports, and their trajectories depends on the vessel type as well. The model must learn spatio-temporal patterns representing vessel trajectories and should capture vessel’s position relation to both space and time. The authors of the paper proposes new unsupervised trajectory prediction with prediction regions at arbitrary probabilities using two methods: LSTM prediction region learning and wild bootstrapping. Results depict that both the autoencoder-based and wild bootstrapping region prediction algorithms can predict vessel trajectory and be applied for abnormal marine traffic detection by evaluating obtained prediction region in an unsupervised manner with desired prediction probability.
John of Salisbury. A new biography.
This article presents a biography that presents a new version of the 12th century churchman, politician, humanist and educator, John of Salisbury. In contrast to dry academic biographies, this one is based mainly on the primary sources, that is, on the works of John himself. In order not only to indicate historical facts but also to show his mentality, temperament and character, it intentionally uses long quotations from his writings. These quotations do deliver to the readers’ attention not only the trite academic facts but also some interesting trifles which enriches the picture of that remote epoch and exposes the idiosyncrasy of the author, for instance, his common sense and skeptical attitude towards all kinds of divinations and mysticism
Features of Covid-19 vaccination process management: a systematic review of the literature and a brief assesment of the situation in the country.
The aim of the article is to review the features of the management of the vaccination process during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the importance of the health care systems in different countries. This is one of the most relevant research topics in recent years in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the number of scientific publications is increasing daily with geometric progression. The authors of the article analysed and summarised over 160 scientific publications. A detailed analysis of the development, clinical research, approval and registration procedures, reliability, safety and efficacy of the Covid-19 vaccine presented in the articles is presented. In this context, it was particularly important for the authors to present the doubts about the advantages of vaccination, and the reasons for refusing vaccination, evaluating the public information context. The role of the health care system is presented in the disclosure of the organisation of the vaccination process in the country, especially in the identification of priority groups of vaccinees, and in the monitoring of vaccinated people. The results of the research analysed in the articles suggest that all registered Covid-19 vaccines are sufficiently reliable, safe and effective, and timely public information is of great importance for vaccination coverage. The central role of the health care system in organising and managing the vaccination process has proven its worth. The vaccination process is managed and controlled in the country
Anti-tank defence in Lithuanian military, 1935–1940.
A state of stalemate settled in on the frontlines of World War I, particularly on the Western Front, which was a result of defensive systems that had greatly improved at the beginning of the twentieth century. It was a trigger to develop new offensive techniques that would stir up the entrenched fronts of World War I. Mechanised corps, including tank units, was one of such newly introduced techniques. With the advent of a new type of weapon, the need had arisen to improve defence by reinforcing it with anti-tank systems. In the wake of the 1914–1918 war and with the mechanised forces rapidly developing in the interwar years, it became necessary to create motorised infantry mobility of which, in combination with mechanised units, had increased exponentially leading to an enhanced importance of anti-tank weapons in combat. The issue of anti-tank defence was also of major concern in the armed forces of interwar Lithuania. In view of the then geopolitical situation of Lithuania and taking into account the national defence plans, it was Poland, Germany and the Soviet Union that were deemed the key aggressors constituting a threat to Lithuania’s sovereignty. An analysis of sources shows that the two latter states had highly developed concepts of mechanised armies, thereby making the issue of anti-tank defence even more important for the Lithuanian army. Hence, the aim of this research is to examine and estimate capabilities of the Lithuanian armed forces to maintain defence against the enemy’s heavy (mechanised) forces by making an analysis of the provisions enshrined in the statutes of Lithuania’s army, the reflections on the experiences of military conflicts between 1935 and 1940 in the ranks of the leadership of the Lithuanian army, and actual capabilities to conduct defence against mechanised forces of the hostile armies
Parents‘ reasons refusing to vaccinate their children and assessment of approach and knowledge towards vaccination in Rokiskis district.
The aim of the study. To find out the atitude and kowledge of Rokiskis district parents about children‘s immunoprophylaxis and to analyze the reasons for refusing to vaccinate children. Methods of the study. Analysis of scientific literature and quantitative research method. The research tool is an online survey. Research results. Parent were found to be most likely to distrust thr HPV vaccine, rotavirus vaccine, measles vaccine and meningococcal type B vaccine, this mistrust of respondents is also reflected in the question in which parents had to indicate which vaccines they refused. Parents most often refuse meningococcal type B vaccine, measles, mumps, rubella vaccine, rotavirus inflection vaccine and HPV vaccine. The results of the study reveal that although the majority choose to vaccinate their children, there are also those wfo refuse or hesitate to do so, the most common causes are over-intensive vaccination schedules, concerns about vaccine components, and fears of post-vaccination side effects although doctors usually provide all the necessary information on how to deal with adverse reactions. The study revealed the most common reactions after vaccination, such as fever, redness at the injection site and irritability, which resolved after 48 hours. The study also found that a significant proportion of parents are willing to vaccinate children with non – state – funded vaccines, and most often choose the tick – borne encephalitis vaccine (26,4 %). Conclusion. The most common and important reasons for not vaccinating are the fear of side effects and complications after vaccination, the anxiety of vaccine components, and the fact thet vaccines are polyvalent when it is not possible to choose which vaccine to vaccinate your child with. The study found links between parental attitudes, knowledge and state-funded vaccines, and the better the kowledge and attitude, the more likely parents were to vaccinate their children. It was found that regardless of the education or the number of children in the family, the majority of respondents have average knowledge about the organizations of immunoprophylaxis in children, which is usually learned from medical institutions. Parental attitudes towards children‘s immunoprophylaxis can be assessed positively, with the vast majority in favor of vaccines and stating thet vaccines are an effective means of reducing morbidity and mortality from communicable diseases, but adding that more attention should be paid to raising public awareness due to the emerging downward trend in vaccination in society

Zebra mussel holobionts fix and recycle nitrogen in lagoon sediments /
Bivalves are ubiquitous filter-feeders able to alter ecosystems functions. Their impact on nitrogen (N) cycling is commonly related to their filter-feeding activity, biodeposition, and excretion. A so far understudied impact is linked to the metabolism of the associated microbiome that together with the host constitute the mussel’s holobiont. Here we investigated how colonies of the invasive zebra mussel (Dreissena polymorpha) alter benthic N cycling in the shallow water sediment of the largest European lagoon (the Curonian Lagoon). A set of incubations was conducted to quantify the holobiont’s impact and to quantitatively compare it with the indirect influence of the mussel on sedimentary N transformations. Zebra mussels primarily enhanced the recycling of N to the water column by releasing mineralized algal biomass in the form of ammonium and by stimulating dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonium (DNRA). Notably, however, not only denitrification and DNRA, but also dinitrogen (N2) fixation was measured in association with the holobiont. The diazotrophic community of the holobiont diverged substantially from that of the water column, suggesting a unique niche for N2 fixation associated with the mussels. At the densities reported in the lagoon, mussel-associated N2 fixation may account for a substantial (and so far, overlooked) source of bioavailable N. Our findings contribute to improve our understanding on the ecosystem-level impact of zebra mussel, and potentially, of its ability to adapt to and colonize oligotrophic environments
