The need for transforming the learning environment and the andragogue’s general competences: the view of health-care professionals.

    No full text
With the changing and expanding approach to the creation of a learning environment as one of the essential factors in the quality of the organisation of the learning process, the article reveals the links that underpin the importance of an andragogue’s general competencies for the development of a transformative learning environment. The relevance of the scientific problem is highlighted by the theoretical and empirical search for the general competencies of the andragogue, which creates favourable preconditions for the transformation of the learner’s empowerment personality. The participants in the research were employees of health-care institutions in various regions of Lithuania who have participated in in-service training events at the Centre for Continuing Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Klaipėda University. The analysis of the need for health-care professionals due to the importance of an andragogue’s general competencies in creating a transformative learning environment has highlighted the direct impact of age on different needs. The results of the research show that an andragogue’s general competencies help to create a transformative learning environment, in which the totality of intellectual, emotional and practical dynamics enables the learner’s transformation, focusing on personal qualities, abilities, skills, attitudes and positive attitudes, and the development of a mindset for continuous improvement. Suggestions are provided to andragogues on how to streamline changes in adult learning that focus on personality change by creating a transformative learning environment

The efficacy of plant enzymes bromelain and papain as a tool for reducing gluten immunogenicity from wheat bran /

    No full text
Gluten-free products made from naturally gluten-free raw materials have an inferior taste and can cause deficiencies in various nutrients, especially non-starch polysaccharides. To address this problem, scientists are searching for new strategies to eliminate harmful gluten from wheat, rye, and barley and to produce balanced products with good organoleptic properties. This study evaluated the possibility of hydrolysing gluten in wheat bran, a by-product obtained after the dry fractionation of wheat, using plant enzymes. The gluten content of wheat bran after treatment with papain, bromelain, and their combination under different hydrolysis conditions was investigated. The amount of gluten was determined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay ELISA R5 and the reduction in immunogenic gliadins was analysed using high-performance reverse phase liquid chromatography. The results of the study showed that 4 h hydrolysis with bromelain and papain reduced the levels of gluten immunogenic compounds in bran from 58,650.00 to 2588.20–3544.50 mg/kg; however, they did not reach the gluten-free limit. A higher hydrolysis efficiency of 95.59% was observed after treatment with papain, while the combination of both enzymes and bromelain alone were less effective. The results presented in this article will be helpful to other researchers and manufacturers of wheat-based products when selecting methods to reduce gluten immunogenicity and contribute to the development of sustainable technologies

Application of spatial changes in the creation of tourist routes.

    No full text
Geographical information systems are closely linked to the concept of spatial tourism. Spatial tourism is seen as an alternative activity that organizes and digitizes environmental data. Spatial change tourism uses old and current maps, site plans, visual aids, and descriptions of objects to show the change in the area under analysis by comparison. This process creates the preconditions for the spatialization of tourist routes. First, an analysis of the selected environment (using georeferencing tools); systematization and purification of the information on the cultural objects; followed by the selection of professional photographs revealing the appearance of the objects (which can be used to compare the aesthetic condition of the objects in the past and the present); and then the creation of an overall image, reflecting the design, the descriptive styles of the descriptions, the photographs, and the purposeful positioning of objects. The spatial change digital maps created are seen as new tourism products that can generate additional revenue for service providers and allow tourists to travel individually and explore cultural and natural sites and join sustainable tourism development. The spatial tourism products developed can be transferred to smart devices, allowing users of the service to easily explore and get to know the areas and appreciate the historical and contemporary changes that have taken place in the area

The possibilities of using projective planning in creating and presenting value to the consumer in the catering sector /

Seeking out value deals is becoming a daily routine for today's consumers. Thus, creating and delivering value is now one of the most crucial elements necessary for organizations to survive in the market. The creation of service value for the user is characterized by specificity due to the intangibility of the service itself, inseparable from its provider. Consumers are seeking autonomous experiences, and organizations must increasingly focus on meeting such expectations. Projection planning technologies can be applied in the catering sector to create an autonomous consumer experience and increase its value. The purpose of the article examining the possibilities of using projection planning in creating and presenting value to the consumer in the catering sector is to determine which methods of presenting projection planning technology would create the greatest value. The analysis of the scientific literature enables the identification of the prospects of projection planning technology in the catering sector, and the results of the conducted quantitative survey aid determining which elements of projection planning technology are the most important to Lithuanian restaurant customers

The first record of the invasive alien freshwater amphipod Crangonyx floridanus (Bousfield, 1963) (Crustacea: Amphipoda) in two Irish river systems /

    No full text
We report the presence of the North American Crangonyx floridanus co-occurring with C. pseudogracilis in two Irish rivers, following surveys in three rivers, eleven lake sites and an ornamental pond in 2020. This is the first record of C. floridanus in Ireland which was previously recorded in Britain in 2017. We predict that this species is likely to expand its range through the river and canal connections in Ireland as well as from inadvertent anthropogenic transmission. The taxonomic criteria are cryptic and for this reason, we used genetic methods to distinguish the two species in this study. The results highlight the need to investigate the distribution and impact of these two species in freshwater habitats in Ireland
