    Get PDF
The aim of this study is to examine teachers' perspectives on enhancing the efficiency of the teaching process and to identify the challenges they face while offering potential solutions. The research was conducted using a qualitative narrative inquiry design to explore teachers' experiences and perspectives deeply. The study group consists of 57 volunteer teachers reached through snowball sampling. A semi-structured interview form was used as the data collection tool to gain a comprehensive understanding of teachers' views. The data were analyzed through content analysis. The findings reveal that an effective teaching process is based on elements such as planning and preparation, active student participation, the organization of the learning environment, and the diversity of teaching methods and techniques used. Factors negatively affecting the teaching process include student-related issues, physical deficiencies, low teacher motivation, an intensive curriculum, and insufficient parental support. As a result, it is recommended that teacher professional development should be supported, classroom environments should be better organized, and stronger cooperation with school administrators should be promoted to improve the teaching process. Additionally, making the curriculum more flexible and increasing the application of student-centered methods could enhance the efficiency of the process. The study suggests future research on the relationship between the physical conditions of educational environments and teaching efficiency, the impact of different teaching methods on student achievement, and how teachers' motivation levels influence the teaching process

Suriye, Irak, Libya ve Katar örneklerinde, Türkiye’nin politikalarinin güvenlik kaygilari, jeopolitik çikarlar ve nüfuz mücadelesiyle sekillendigi görülmektedir. Arap Bahari sonrasi Suriye’de Firat Kalkani, Zeytin Dali ve Baris Pinari operasyonlari, sinir güvenligi, terörle mücadele ve mülteci akinlarini önleme amaçlidir. Irak’ta ise PKK’ya karsi Pençe harekâtlariyla lojistik altyapiyi hedef alan bir strateji izlenmis, sinir ötesi üsler kurularak bölgedeki etkinlik artirilmistir. Libya’da Ulusal Mutabakat Hükümeti’ne askeri destek verilerek Dogu Akdeniz’deki çikarlar korunmustur. Türkiye’nin askeri müdahaleleri, bölgesel güvenlik dinamiklerini yeniden sekillendirmis, diplomasinin yetersiz kaldigi durumlarda stratejik bir araç olarak kullanilmistir. Uzun vadede bu politikalarin devami, uluslararasi mesruiyet, fayda-zarar dengesi ve diplomatik iliskilere bagli olacaktir. Türkiye’nin askeri ve diplomatik araçlari uyumlu kullanmasi, bölgesel çikarlarini sürdürmesi açisindan kritik öneme sahiptir. This study analyzes Turkey's military interventions and security strategies in the Middle East post-2000. Examining cases such as Syria, Iraq, Libya, and Qatar, it reveals that Turkey's policies have been shaped by security concerns, geopolitical interests, and competition for regional influence. Following the Arab Spring, operations like Euphrates Shield, Olive Branch, and Peace Spring in Syria aimed to ensure border security, counter terrorism, and prevent refugee influxes. In Iraq, the Claw operations targeted PKK logistics, with cross-border bases enhancing Turkey's regional presence. In Libya, military support for the Government of National Accord (GNA) helped safeguard Turkey's interests in the Eastern Mediterranean. Turkey's military interventions have reshaped regional security dynamics, serving as a strategic tool when diplomacy proved insufficient. The sustainability of these policies in the long term will depend on international legitimacy, cost-benefit calculations, and diplomatic relations. The harmonized use of military and diplomatic tools remains crucial for Turkey to maintain and advance its regional interests

Within the scope of the research purpose, the opinions of social studies teachers and secondary school (5th, 6th and 7th grade) students regarding the use of open-ended questions while applying common written exams, which is one of the changes in the 2023 measurement and evaluation guidelines published by the Ministry of National Education, were examined. In this direction, in the research, the thoughts of teachers on open-ended exams, how they evaluated the process, which sources they used and their views on this decision were examined. In the process of scoring and evaluating open-ended questions, teachers take the answer keys and rubric-based evaluation methods as a basis, and evaluate the students' interpretation skills and efforts into account. However, it has been stated that difficulties such as objectivity problems, the length of the evaluation process and non-standard scoring are experienced. When the open-ended exams are examined in terms of accountabiility, it is seen that most teachers share their answer keys with students after the exam and share information with student parents when necessary. While some students think that open-ended exams require more studies and are more effective in measuring knowledge, some students have expressed the opinion that these exams are incompatible with LGS (High School Entrance Exam), contain a rote system and are more challenging than previous exams. The vast majority of students stated that the hybrid exam model, which combines both multiple choice and open-ended questions, would be more suitable

Background/Objectives: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is an effective surgical intervention for end stage knee osteoarthritis in elderly patients, with emerging robotically assisted techniques aiming to enhance surgical precision and patient outcomes. This study aimed to compare medium-term balance and functional outcomes between robotically assisted and conventional manual TKA in community-dwelling elderly patients. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 50 elderly patients undergoing TKA, who were divided into robotically assisted (n = 25) and conventional manual (n = 25) groups. Demographic and clinical data, balance performance, and functional outcomes were compared at nearly 1.5 years postoperatively. Outcome measures included balance performance assessed by the Berg Balance Scale (BBS), pain via the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), knee function as measured by the Lysholm Knee Scoring Scale, quality of life using the Short Form-12 (SF-12), joint awareness as evaluated by the Forgotten Joint Score-12 (FJS-12), and surgical satisfaction. Results: The groups had similar demographic and clinical data regarding age, gender, follow-up duration, surgical time, and anesthesia type (p > 0.05). The robotically assisted group demonstrated better balance performance on the BBS (p = 0.043) and had a statistically shorter length of hospital stay (1.22 vs. 1.42 days; p = 0.005). However, no statistically significant differences were observed in VAS activity pain (p = 0.053), Lysholm Knee Scoring Scale (p = 0.117), SF-12 physical and mental scores (p = 0.174 and p = 0.879), FJS-12 (p = 0.760), and surgical satisfaction (p = 0.218). Conclusions: Robotically assisted TKA is associated with advantageous postoperative recovery, particularly in terms of balance performance, showing no clinical difference in other functional outcomes compared to the conventional manual technique. From a physical therapy perspective, these findings emphasize the importance of developing tailored and effective rehabilitation strategies in the medium term for functional recovery in the elderly population

A study was conducted to determine the dry matter yields as well as the nutrient compositions and in vitro digestibility of nine silage corn varieties grown as main and second crops under Van conditions. In 2020-2021, a study was conducted on 9 corn varieties from different maturation groups during the growing periods of the main crop and the second crop. The main crop was harvested during the transition from milk maturity to dough stage maturity, while the second crop was harvested at the beginning of the milk maturity period. The study determined the crude nutrient (DM, CA, CP, EE, ADF, and NDF) analysis and in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) of the corn herbage. The Bodega corn variety had the highest DM yield in the main crop, while the KxB6451 corn variety had the highest yield in the second crop. Among the varieties studied, DKC5685 had the lowest DM yield, ADF, and NDF content in the main product. However, it had the highest CP content and IVDMD (p <.05). The KxB8392 silage variety was found to have the highest CP content and digestibility compared to other varieties in the second product (p <.05). It is important to choose the most appropriate early varieties that are suitable for the ecological conditions of the region. The Capuzi variety in the main crop and the KxB8392 variety in the second crop were found to be the most suitable in terms of DM yield, CP, ADF and NDF content, and IVDMD. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved

    No full text
Sustainability in biomedical applications aims to balance the demands of present and future generations by improving quality of life and minimizing environmental impacts. Fused deposition modeling (FDM), a form of additive manufacturing (AM), has surfaced as an effective approach to promoting sustainability in production. However, there is a lack of comparative studies focusing on the environmental impact assessment of commonly used biocompatible filament materials. This study evaluates the environmental impacts of FDM-fabricated ankle foot orthosis (AFO) using life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology. Biocompatible thermoplastic materials, including polylactic acid (PLA), thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG), and polyether ether ketone (PEEK), were analyzed for their life cycle impacts across three stages: raw material extraction, manufacturing, and recycling. The AFO parts were fabricated with dimensions of 250 mm height and 100 mm foot length using a Creality K1C printer operating at speeds up to 600 mm/s. Material consumption ranged from 109.35 g (TPU) to 115.47 g (PEEK), while manufacturing energy consumption varied between 2.45 kWh (PLA) and 3.11 kWh (PEEK). Energy consumption during recycling ranged from 3.27 kWh for PLA to 4.28 kWh for PEEK. Environmental impacts were identified using mid-point and end-point indicators, such as fossil depletion, human toxicity, and other parameters. The results revealed that PLA is the most environmentally friendly material, showing the lowest impacts across most indicators and costing only 2.52perpart.Incontrast,PEEKrevealedthehighestenvironmentalburdenandcost(2.52 per part. In contrast, PEEK revealed the highest environmental burden and cost (46.19 per part), making it the least sustainable material. This research highlights the importance of LCA in promoting sustainability in AM, providing valuable insights to stakeholders in material selection for biomedical applications. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved

Additionally, there was a 10% decrease in pain, 11.4% decrease in emotional reactions, 80.7% increase in sleep quality, 13.3% decrease in social isolation, 38.8% increase in physical activity, and 87.1% increase in energy level, 9.8% decrease in mean pulse rate, 15.8% decrease in respiratory rate, 73.1% increase in oxygen saturation, 7% decrease in systolic blood pressure, and 6.4% decrease in diastolic blood pressure, 6.5% increase in mean fetal movement count was determined. At the fourth measurement, the experimental group had a higher mean basal fetal heart rate than the control group. CONCLUSION: Mindfulness-based breathing exercise can be safely used as a care intervention to improve the health profile of pregnant women with pre-eclampsia. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved

Child, family, and narcissistic political leadership: a comparison of Hitler, Putin, and Trump

    Get PDF
Introduction Every person goes through a period of narcissistic development. Narcissism develops depending on whether children get balanced and adequate care during childhood. Children who get adequate and balanced care develop self-esteem and have constructive narcissistic qualities. Those who do not obtain adequate and balanced care are affected by narcissistic personality disorder and have reactive narcissistic characteristics. Political leaders are no exception to this rule; they were also once children and went through a stage of narcissistic development. This study aims to analyze how Hitler, Putin, and Trump completed their narcissistic developmental stages. In this regard, this study comparatively analyses the causes of these three individuals' narcissistic political leadership related to their parents, families, and childhood. Methods It is not possible to apply psychological tests to political leaders, to sit them on Freud's couch and psychoanalyse them. However, it is possible to find detailed information on the childhoods and families of political leaders. This study phenomenologically compares the familial reasons for the narcissistic political leadership of Hitler, Putin, and Trump on the basis of the available information. In this study, the phenomenological analysis technique was used based on qualitative information theory. Results Hitler, Putin, and Trump grew up in similar families. When these three leaders are compared on the axis of familial causes of narcissism, it is seen that all three leaders were traumatized, experienced frustrations in their childhood that were not appropriate for their age, and grew up with an over-authoritarian father figure in addition to a mother who approached them with compassion. The fact that Hitler and Putin grew up as replacement children and were physically violated by their fathers, whereas Trump was placed in a boarding and disciplined military school at a precisely narcissistic developmental stage, triggered these three leaders to become narcissistic political leaders.Discussion It should not be forgotten that Hitler, as a narcissistic political leader, caused the deaths of millions of innocent people. In this sense, it is impossible to evaluate the policies implemented by political leaders and their leadership qualities apart from the family and childhood periods in which they grew up

Development of the scale on the effects of sleep disorder on stress: validity and reliability study

    Get PDF
BackgroundThe relationship between sleep disorders and cognitive stress in clinical psychology, especially from the perspective of Beck's Cognitive Theory, holds critical importance. The current measurement tools do not adequately assess the cognitive components of sleep-related stress (e.g., automatic thoughts, cognitive distortions), highlighting the need for a new instrument in this field. Specifically, quantitatively evaluating the effects of insomnia on an individual's perception of the future, self-esteem, and worldview is fundamental for clinical interventions.PurposeThis study aims to develop a valid and reliable scale capable of measuring stress caused by sleep disorders with a multidisciplinary approach, based on Beck's Cognitive Theory's cognitive triad (perception of future/self/world) and the concept of cognitive distortion.MethodThe study was conducted with 637 participants who had a Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) score of >= 5. Data were collected using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, the Perceived Stress Scale, and a draft scale. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were used to assess construct validity, while Cronbach's Alpha (alpha) and McDonald Omega (omega) were used for reliability analysis.ResultsThe results of the exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses revealed that the scale consists of two main dimensions: (1) Cognitive Distortions dimension (10 items, alpha = 0.952), which measures automatic negative thoughts such as When I feel inadequate in any aspect due to sleep disorder experienced by participants during sleep deprivation. (2) Cognitive Triad dimension (8 items, alpha = 0.925), which reflects disruptions in perceptions of the future, self, and the world (environment), with statements like On days when I experience sleep disorders, I feel like my appearance looks bad. The overall reliability coefficients of the scale were found to be alpha = 0.964 and omega = 0.961. The developed scale was found to have a positive correlation with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Perceived Stress Scale, and VAS.Conclus & imath;onsThe developed scale is the first tool to clinically and meaningfully reveal the cognitive stress mechanisms caused by sleep disorders. Its structure, directly aligning with the core components of Beck's Cognitive Theory, increases the potential for its use in cognitive-behavioral therapy protocols. Furthermore, the methodological framework it provides for cross-cultural validity studies lays the groundwork for comparative research on a global scale
