Effects Of Stubble Burning on Selected Physical and Chemical Properties in Alkaline Agricultural Soil
Stubble burning is a traditional soil management method that affects soil quality and fertility and has often been preferred by farmers. In this study conducted to understand the short-term effects of stubble burning on soil properties in alkaline agricultural soils, 100 soil samples were taken from 20 wheat fields with stubble burned (STB, n=10) and non-stubble burned (NSB, n=10) in Araban. The samples were analyzed for aggregate stability (AS), pH, carbonates (IC), electrical conductivity (EC), soil organic matter (SOM), available phosphorus (Pav), and extractable potassium (Kex). Correlation (CA), principal component (PCA), and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) were applied to the data. The results showed that AS and pH values were 3% and 2% lower (p0.05). PCA accounted for 74.9% and 76.4% of total variance in NSB and STB, respectively. According to HCA results, it was determined that the components were completely changed. Many statistical approaches showed that stubble burning changed the ongoing relationships between selected physical and chemical properties of soils before burning due to the direct and indirect effects of heat and ash. In conclusion, these disturbed relationships are likely to negatively affect the productivity of alkaline field soils in the long term
Hısımlık ve Hasımlık Arasında Temüçin’in Yükselişinde Taiçudların Rolü
This study focuses on Temujin’s struggle with the Taichiud tribe on his path to becoming the Great Khan of Mongolia. The Taichiud tribe, one of the most influential groups in Mongolia during the mid-12th century, emerged as a significant political and military force in the early period of the Mongol Empire. This tribe was one of Temujin’s (later known as Genghis Khan) greatest rivals during his youth and had a profound impact on his life. After the death of Temücin’s father, Yesugey, the Taiçud attempted to consolidate power by isolatingYesugey’s family, leading toTemujin’s deep hatred for them. During his adolescence, Temujin was captured by the Taichiud but managed to escape with the help of a Suldus family. This event solidified his determination and leadership ambition. The Taichiud later supported Temujin’s political rival, Jamukha, but suffered a crushing defeat in 1201 at the hands of Temujin. This defeat marked the end of theTaichiud tribe’s political power, although some surviving members continued to play roles in the Mongol Empire. The Taichiud tribe is significant not only as a rival force but also as a key factor shaping Temujin’s leadership skills and resolve. Therefore, understanding the history of the Taichiud is crucial for gaining deeper insight into the Mongol political structure and Genghis Khan’s rise to power. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved
Beliren Yetiskinlerde Aile Yasam Doyumunun Yordayicilari Olarak Bilissel Esneklik ve Psikolojik Iyi Olus
2209-AThis study aims to examine the relationships among family life satisfaction, psychological well-being, and cognitive flexibility in emerging adults. The research was conducted using a relational survey model. Data were collected from 592 students in the emerging adulthood period at Mus Alparslan University; analyses were performed on 583 valid responses. Among the participants, 61.9% were female, 58.1% were between the ages of 21–25, 40.3% were first-year students, 46.8% were studying at the central campus, 93.3% were single, and 81% were unemployed. Data collection instruments included the Family Life Satisfaction Scale, the Psychological Well-being Scale, the Cognitive Flexibility Scale and the Demographic Information Form. Data were gathered from students in the Central, Varto, Bulanik, and Malazgirt districts of Mus province. Independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple linear regression were employed for analysis. The results revealed moderate, positive, and statistically significant correlations among family life satisfaction, psychological well-being, and cognitive flexibility. Regression analysis indicated that cognitive flexibility and psychological well-being significantly and positively predicted family life satisfaction. No significant differences were found in family life satisfaction, psychological well-being, or cognitive flexibility based on gender or number of siblings.Bu arastirmanin amaci beliren yetiskinlerde aile yasam doyumu, psikolojik iyi olus ile bilissel esneklik arasindaki iliskilerin incelenmesidir. Arastirma iliskisel tarama modelinde yürütülmüstür. Veri, Mus Alparslan Üniversitesi’ nde egitime devam eden beliren yetiskinlik dönemindeki 592 ögrenciden toplanmis, varsayimlarin incelenmesi sonucunda analizler 583 kisi üzerinden yürütülmüstür. Buna göre katilimcilarin % 61.9’unun kadin, % 58.1’inin 21-25 yas arasinda, %40.3’ü 1. sinif, %46.8’inin merkez kampüsünde egitimine devam ettigi, %93.3’ünün bekâr ve %81’inin herhangi bir iste çalismadigi tespit edilmistir. Arastirmada veri toplamak amaciyla Aile Yasam Doyumu Ölçegi, Psikolojik Iyi Olus Ölçegi, Bilissel Esneklik Ölçegi ve Demografik Bilgi Formu kullanilmistir. Veri arastirmacilar tarafindan Mus ili Merkez, Varto, Bulanik ve Malazgirt ilçelerinde egitime devam eden bireylerden toplanmistir. Veri analizinde demografik degiskenlere iliskin farkliliklarin belirlenebilmesi amaciyla, analiz varsayimlari test edilerek, bagimsiz gruplar t-testi ile tek yönlü varyans analizi kullanilmistir. Psikolojik iyi olus ile bilissel esnekligin aile yasam doyumunun anlamli birer yordayicisi olup olmadigini saptamak amaciyla ise çoklu dogrusal regresyon analizi yürütülmüstür. Sonuçlara göre aile yasam doyumu, psikolojik iyi olus ve bilissel esneklik arasinda pozitif yönlü orta düzeyde istatistiksel olarak anlamli iliskiler oldugu tespit edilmistir. Regresyon analizi sonucunda, bilissel esnekligin ve psikolojik iyi olusun aile yasam doyumunu pozitif yönde yordadigi tespit edilmistir. Energy efficiency in building: Entropy-based Grey Wolf Optimization for improved MLP performance
Energy efficiency in building HVAC systems is essential for sustainable development, requiring accurate predictions of heating and cooling loads. Traditional hyperparameter tuning methods often lead to suboptimal performance in artificial neural network models due to local optima and premature convergence issues. This study proposes an Entropy-Based Grey Wolf Optimization to enhance the hyperparameter tuning of Multi-Layer Perceptron models for improved load prediction. Unlike traditional Grey Wolf Optimization, which relies on a fixed linear decay for search balancing, the Entropy-Based Grey Wolf Optimization dynamically adjusts the search strategy based on entropy levels. This prevents premature convergence, enhances global search capabilities, and improves fine-tuning of Multi-Layer Perceptron hyperparameters for HVAC load prediction. The proposed optimization approach is compared with ten different optimization techniques, and results indicate that Entropy-Based Grey Wolf Optimization achieves superior accuracy with lower mean squared error and faster convergence. The study contributes to both the improvement of energy efficiency in HVAC systems and the development of a generalizable entropy-based optimization framework that can be applied to various machine learning tasks. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved
Copula-Based Data Augmentation and Machine Learning for Predicting Tensile Strength of 3D-Printed PLA Under Anisotropic Conditions
In this study, 48 polylactic acid (PLA) samples were produced via 3D printing, incorporating four infill geometries (gyroid, lattice, honeycomb, and linear), four infill rates (15%-60%), and three printing directions (x, y, z). Tensile testing revealed anisotropic mechanical behavior, with the x-direction consistently outperforming y- and z-directions due to layer adhesion dynamics. A machine learning framework leveraging copula-based data augmentation was developed to predict tensile strength at untested infill rates. The framework employed least squares regression, support vector machines (SVM), Gaussian process regression (GPR), and artificial neural networks (ANNs), augmented with 20,000 synthetic data points to enhance model robustness. Results demonstrated that gyroid geometry in the x-direction achieved the highest tensile strength (53.4 MPa at 60% infill), while Lattice patterns underperformed. Data augmentation improved prediction accuracy across all models, with SVM achieving the lowest RMSE (1.53 MPa) and R 2 values exceeding 0.87. This study highlights the critical interplay of infill parameters, directional anisotropy, and machine learning in optimizing 3D-printed PLA components for industrial applications, offering a data-driven pathway to reduce experimental costs and accelerate material design
Acute effects of preconditioning activity and caffeine intake on sprinting, anaerobic capacity and fatigue index in football players: Gender comparison and individual responses
Araştırmanın amacı, erkek ve kadın futbolcularda ön kondisyonlanma aktivitesi (ÖKA) ve kafeinin sprint, anaerobik kapasite ve yorgunluk indeksine akut etkisini incelemektir. Araştırmaya 8 erkek 8 kadın olmak üzere 16 futbolcu katılmıştır. Katılımcılara 48-72 saat arayla 5 farklı günde testler yapılmıştır. Katılımcılar, rastgele belirlenen kontrol (KON), plasebo (PLA), kafein (KAF), plasebo + ön kondisyonlanma aktivitesi (PLA+ÖKA) ve kafein + ön kondisyonlanma aktivitesi (KAF+ÖKA) gruplarına eşit sayıda ayrılmıştır. Kontrol günü hariç diğer günlerde 3 mg/kg kafein veya plasebo verilmiştir. Kafein veya plasebodan önce ve 50 dk sonra ''Brunel Ruh Hali Ölçeği'' (BRHÖ) uygulanmıştır. Ayrıca katılımcıların farklı zamanlarda algılanan zorluk derecesi (AZD) ve kalp atım hızı (KAH) ölçülmüştür. KON, KAF ve PLA günü 2., 4., 6., 8., 10. ve 12. dakikalarda 10 ve 30 m sprint testi gerçekleşmiştir. Daha sonra Wingate anaerobik güç testi uygulanmıştır. KAF+ÖKA ve PLA+ÖKA günü pliometrik ÖKA uygulanmış ve aynı testler gerçekleşmiştir. Parametreler arasındaki asıl etki ve etkileşim için tekrarlı ölçümlerde çok yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA) kullanılmıştır. Etki büyüklüğü için kısmi eta kare (ηp2) hesaplanmıştır. BRHÖ için uygulamalar arası karşılaştırmalarda Kruskal-Wallis Testi, uygulamaların ön test ve son test değerlerini karşılaştırmak için Wilcoxon İşaretli Sıralar Testi kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca sonuçlar ''En Küçük Gerçek Fark'' değerleri hesaplanarak bireysel düzeyde de değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, uygulamalar arasında 10 ve 30 m sprint performansı anlamlı farklılık göstermemiştir (p>0,05). Wingate testinde ise KON'a kıyasla KAF zirve güç performansını artırmıştır (p0,05). Plasebo ve kafein uygulamalar arasında ruh halini etkilememiştir (p>0,05), ancak uygulama içi ön test-son test değerlerinde erkeklerde ve kadınlarda plasebo ve kafein yorgunluk değerlerini artırmıştır (p0.05). In the Wingate test, CAF increased peak power performance compared to CON (p0.05). Placebo and caffeine did not affect mood between interventions (p>0.05), but placebo and caffeine increased fatigue in male and female (p<0.05) in pre-test and post-test values within the intervention. In individual results, in 10-30 m sprint, peak power, average power and fatigue index, the performance of some participants increased while the performance of some participants decreased. When the individual results are examined in detail, it is seen that the performance increase is more. Individual differences should be taken into account in the combination of CA and caffeine intake for acute performance enhancement in football players

Kitap tümüyle incelendiginde Sokrates’in, o dönemin madde temelli felsefe anlayisini dönüstürdügü ve ruh temelli bir felsefe anlayisi gelistirdigi görülmektedir. Yasadigi dönemde tüm filozoflar, varligi; ates, hava, su ve toprak gibi maddelerle açiklarken, Sokrates varligin ilk kaynagi olarak Tanrisal ruhu isaret etmis ve bir ruh devrimi gerçeklestirmistir. Sokrates’e göre felsefenin merkezinde insan olmali ve bilgi, sofistlerin yaptigi gibi para kazanma araci olarak kullanilmamalidir. Sokrates için bilgi insana, iyilik, özgürlük, adalet ve erdem kazandirirken bilgisizlik insani bu özelliklerden mahrum birakmaktadir. Erdemli insan için önemli olan maddi zenginlik degil, varligin özünün bilgisiyle yani bilgelikle elde edilen manevi zenginliktir. Sokrates’in felsefesinde ask ile bireysel, dostluk ile toplumsal ve adalet ile siyasal anlamda iyiye ulasilabilecegi kitapta vurgulanan önemli hususlardandir. Bu kitap, Sokrates’e atifla, devletin dininin adalet oldugunu, bu nedenle uzun ömürlü bir devlet için adalete önem verilmesi gerektigini aktarmaktadir. Erdemli bir toplumsal düzende ise liyakat esas alinmali ve bir düsünce, salt kalabaliklar tarafindan savunuldugu için degil, erdemli ve iyi olana insani götürdügü ölçüde dogru kabul edilmelidir. Sokrates’in tüm bu düsünceleri, at sineklerinin atlari ürküttügü gibi çagdaslarini ürkütmüs ve baldiran zehriyle öldürülmesine yol açmistir
Desulfurization of Coal with Oak Ash Extraction
Desulfurization is an essential method to eliminate the harmful environmental effects of coal. Various physical, chemical and biological desulfurization methods are available in the literature. In this study about with the desulfurization of coal by a basic extraction liquid of oak ash. Burdur, Ermenek and Tunçbilek coals were selected due to their high sulfur content. Before and after the desulfurization process; total sulfur, pyritic sulfur, carbon content and calorific value were measured. The highest removal efficiencies of total sulfur and pyritic sulfur for Burdur coal obtained as 41% and 67%, for Tunçbilek coal obtained as 41% and 35%, and for Ermenek coal obtained as 47% and 41%, respectively. Furthermore, the carbon and calorific value of these coals were analyzed and it seen that these values were not affected negatively. These findings confirmed that the desulfurization with oak ash of Burdur, Tunçbilek and Ermenek coals could help as a reference for further optimizing the coal desulfurization process. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved
Ripening dynamics in Mus, Tulum cheese: physicochemical changes, free fatty acid composition and aroma profile evolution
This study investigated the changes in specific physicochemical properties, free fatty acid (FFA) profiles, and volatile aroma components during the 90-day ripening period of Mus, Tulum cheese produced by five dairy factories (A-E). Significant differences (p < 0.05) were observed between factories and ripening periods in dry matter, fat content, fat in dry matter, protein, salt in dry matter, titratable acidity, and pH values. FFA analysis revealed that the most abundant fatty acids (FA) were C18:1 (oleic acid), C16:0 (palmitic acid), and C18:0 (stearic acid), and total FFA and unsaturated fatty acid (UFA) levels increased over time, particularly in samples from factories A and B. 75 volatile compounds were identified, including 19 acids, 20 esters, 7 hydrocarbons, 6 alcohols, 2 aldehydes, 1 ketone, 2 terpenes, 1 lactone, and 17 other compounds. These results indicate that production conditions and ripening duration play a critical role in the chemical composition and aroma development of Mus, Tulum cheese. Moreover, this study provides a significant contribution to the literature by being based on real production conditions, allowing the observation of differences between industrial and traditional cheeses and enabling the monitoring of chemical changes over a 90-day storage period.Harran University Scientific Research Projects Authority [23067]This study was financially supported by the Harran University Scientific Research Projects Authority (HUBAK Project No.: 23067)
