    Get PDF
This study compared Box-Behnken Design (BBD), Definitive Screening Design (DSD), and Taguchi design methods to predict and optimize surface hardness in polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) parts fabricated by fused deposition modeling (FDM). Critical printing factors including layer thickness (LT), infill density (ID), nozzle temperature (NT), and printing speed (PS) were analyzed to develop accurate prediction models while minimizing experimental runs. The comparative analysis revealed that all three methods provided reliable hardness predictions, with BBD showing superior accuracy (3.74% error), followed by DSD (4.25%) and Taguchi (4.84%). ID emerged as the most influential factor on surface hardness across all methods. BBD required 27 experimental runs, while DSD and Taguchi needed only 13 and 9 runs, respectively, demonstrating significant efficiency in experimental design. The optimal parameter combinations were validated through confirmation tests, achieving maximum hardness values of 62.47 Shore D (Taguchi), 57.16 Shore D (BBD), and 59.95 Shore D (DSD). These findings provide practical guidelines for industrial applications, enabling manufacturers to select the most suitable design method based on their specific requirements for accuracy versus experimental efficiency in PETG part production

    Get PDF

Objective: The acute effects of aerobic exercise on cognitive function in young adults are well-established, yet the acute effects of exercise on cognitive function remain incompletely understood. We aimed to investigate the acute effects of 1-session aerobic exercise on cognitive functions in healthy young adults. This study involved 52 healthy young adults (24 males and 28 females) studying xxx Faculty xxx between xxx. Material and Method: The exercise routine consisted of a 5-minute warm-up, followed by a 20-minute period of increased intensity, and concluded with a 5-minute cool-down. We employed the Stroop Test to evaluate the participants' attention levels. In addition, the number sequence (SD) subtest of the Wechsler Memory Scale-Generalized Form (WMS-G) was used to assess the participants' memory level pre- and post-exercise. Results: The mean age of the participants was 23.34±1.13 years. The participant showed significant improvement in stroop test times but not for number of correct and errors (Stroop 1, stroop 2, stroop 3, stroop 4, and stroop 5= p0.308 and p >0.329). Conclusion: Aerobic exercise has been found to potentially have beneficial effects on cognitive abilities in young adults, even after a single session. Clinicians in the field of cognitive rehabilitation may enhance treatment outcomes by incorporating aerobic activities into rehabilitation programmes. Further studies with large sample groups and different types of aerobic exercises (swimming, running, etc.) are important to more clearly demonstrate the acute effects of aerobic exercises on cognitive functions

In recent years, there has been significant interest in e-government applications, which have become an integral part of daily life, particularly regarding ease of use. This study investigates the factors influencing individuals’ satisfaction with e-government services in Turkey during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research utilized microdata obtained from the Life Satisfaction Survey conducted by the Turkish Statistical Institute in 2020. Ordered logistic regression analysis was employed to identify the factors affecting individuals’ satisfaction with e-government services. The results indicate that sociodemographic and economic variables significantly influence satisfaction levels. Age, education, gender, employment status, and income were determinants of citizens’ satisfaction. Women exhibited a higher level of satisfaction with electronic government services compared to men. The importance of public services became more evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, and integrating the e-government concept into all public institutions has enhanced the capacity to respond swiftly to citizens’ needs. This study offers valuable insights into the determinants of e-government satisfaction during the pandemic. Given the limited research on this topic, future studies from different perspectives will contribute significantly to the literature. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved

TRACES OF SLAVERY IN COLLECTIVE MEMORY: COMMON THEMES IN TONI MORRISON'S BELOVED AND HARRIET BEECHER STOWE'S UNCLE TOM'S CABIN

    Get PDF
From the establishment of the United States of America to the mid-20th century, the institution of slavery significantly affected African American society, resulting in profound consequences related to marginalization, racism, racial discrimination, and, most notably, collective memory. In human experience, certain moments or events are sometimes impossible to forget, even when one wishes to do so. Nevertheless, certain events or experiences remain indelibly etched in memory; despite attempts to forget them, they persist in one's consciousness and prevail. Among these concepts, collective memory has been the one that came into prominence among black slaves, even after their freedom. The black society tried to ignore and forget their horrible memories. Two important American writers, Toni Morrison and Harriet Beecher Stowe, have tried to draw attention to the mental and physical damage caused by slavery through their novels. In the novels of both writers, slavery has been abolished, and the protagonists have attained freedom; however, readers' attention is directed by various narrators through flashbacks and recollections to the period during which they were enslaved. This study aims to examine the differences and similarities between these two antislavery literary works focusing on the treatment of collective memory

    No full text
This research involved the creation of a Schiff base ligand, (E)-6-tert-butyl 3-ethyl 2-(3-methoxy-4-phenoxybenzylideneamino)-4,5-dihydrothieno[2,3-c]pyridine-3,6(7H)-dicarboxylate (SB), through the condensation reaction of 6-tert-butyl 3-ethyl 2-amino-4,5-dihydrothieno[2,3-c]pyridine-3,6(7H)-dicarboxylate with 3-methoxy-4-phenoxybenzaldehyde. The synthesized Schiff base was then used to form metal complexes with Pd(II) and Pt(II) metal ions. Various analytical techniques, including microanalysis (C, H, N, and S), FT-IR, H-1-NMR, C-13-NMR, UV-Vis., thermal analysis (TGA), powder XRD analysis, mass (ESI), molar conductivity, and magnetic susceptibility, were employed to confirm the structures of synthesized compounds. Spectroscopic data indicated that the Schiff base functions as a chelating agent, utilizing oxygen and nitrogen donor sites. The molar conductance measurements suggested that both complexes are non-electrolytic. A square planar structure was proposed for the Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes. The study also investigated the electronic and photonic characteristics of the metal complexes under different conditions. Furthermore, a basic diode was fabricated using the metal complex, and its electronic and photonic characteristics were thoroughly investigated. Current-voltage (I-V) measurements showed that the diode based on the Pd(II) complex had notable noise and a high leakage current. On the other hand, the diode with the Pt(II) complex exhibited enhanced photoconductivity as the light intensity increased. No full text
BAP-22-FEF-4902-08This research introduces two novel Schiff base complexes: [LNi(H2O)2]H2O and [LCu]3H2O, where L represents (E)-2-(5-bromo-2-hidroksibenzilidenamino)-6-metil-4,5,6,7-tetrahidrotiyeno[2,3-c]piridin-3-karboksamid. These complexes were synthesized by reacting of Schiff base ligand (L) containing ON donor atoms with an equimolar amount of NiCl2·6H2O and Cu(NO3)2·3H2O salts. The compounds were extensively characterized using various analytical and spectroscopic techniques, including elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, magnetic susceptibility measurements, molar conductivity, and thermogravimetric analysis. Additionally, the antioxidant properties of both the ligand and complexes were evaluated in vitro using three methods: DPPH free radical scavenging activity, ABTS+ cation radical scavenging activity, and CUPRAC reducing power. From the analytical data, it was observed that the Ni(II) complex has an octahedral structure and the Cu(II) complex has a square planar structure. The antioxidant activity results indicated that some of the complex compounds demonstrated superior antioxidant effects compared to the Schiff base ligand.Mus Alparslan Universit
