    No full text
International audienceDrawing on a case study of the Gilets jaune’s (‘Yellow Vests’) reaction to the media coverage they received, this article examines how the movement became an online counter-public. To understand the driving forces behind this process, the research presented here is based on fieldwork combining observation of Facebook spaces linked to the movement, and semi-structured interviews. The analysis shows firstly that the publications circulating online maintained a continuity with the experience of the rallies, in terms of both the narration of events and the emotions experienced. In addition to this ability to resonate with the activists’ experience, there was the construction of a framework that identified the movement’s opponents, based on a shared sense of justice and a denunciation of the way in which the mainstream media operated.

Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor Myocarditis and Left Ventricular Systolic Dysfunction

International audienceBackground: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have transformed cancer treatment, but ICI myocarditis (ICI-M) remains a potentially fatal complication. The clinical implications and predictors of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) <50% in ICI-M are not well understood. Objectives: The aim of this study was to identify factors associated with LVEF <50% vs ≥50% at the time of hospitalization for ICI-M. A secondary objective was to evaluate the relationship between LVEF and 30-day all-cause mortality. Methods: The International ICI-Myocarditis Registry, a retrospective, international, multicenter database, included 757 patients hospitalized with ICI-M. Patients were stratified by LVEF as reduced LVEF (<50%) or preserved LVEF (≥50%) on admission. Cox proportional hazards models were used to assess the associations between LVEF and clinical events, and multivariable logistic regression was conducted to examine factors linked to LVEF.ResultsOf 757 patients, 707 had documented LVEFs on admission: 244 (35%) with LVEF <50% and 463 (65%) with LVEF ≥50%. Compared with patients with LVEF ≥50%, those with LVEF <50% were younger (<70 years), had a body mass index of <25 kg/m2, and were more likely to have received chest radiation (24.2% vs 13.5%; P < 0.001). Multivariable analysis identified predictors of LVEF <50%, including exposure to v-raf murine sarcoma viral oncogene homolog B1/mitogen-activated protein kinase inhibitors, pre-existing heart failure, dyspnea at presentation, and at least 40 days from ICI initiation to ICI-M onset. Conversely, myositis symptoms were associated with LVEF ≥50%. LVEF <50% was marginally associated with 30-day all-cause mortality (unadjusted log-rank P = 0.062; adjusted for age, cancer types, and ICI therapy, HR: 1.50; 95% CI: 1.02-2.20).Conclusions: Dyspnea, time from ICI initiation, a history of heart failure, and prior cardiotoxic therapy may be predictors of an initial LVEF <50% in patients with ICI-

International audienceIn this paper, using two clinical entry points relating to the moment of diagnosis and self-diagnosis with families and couples, we will show how one of the markers of contemporaneity (post-hypermodernity) could be the mutual and reciprocal narcissistic wounding between members of a family, a couple but also in the therapeutic or educational relationship. We will examine how the experience of a latent feeling of loss, a source of anxiety, opens up a singular motif of ambivalence to the place of connection (family, coupal, educational and therapeutic). Between dependence and loss, bonding and rejection, subjects with narcissistic wounds illusorily relieve themselves by seeking out various forms of compensation as attempts to make up for their feelings of helplessness. This mobilises a type of cleaved relationship to the objects of libidinal investment that blocks the subjects' access to the radical otherness of others. It is in this respect that we will argue that the failure to grasp the essentiality of the other stems above all from a failure to grasp the essentiality of the self. This is a formula that we will detail clinically and theoretically.

Investigation of crystallites in CVD diamond films and their impact on stress distribution

    No full text
International audienceDiamond is potentially the best candidate for many applications in electronics, quantum technologies, optics, mechanics, thermal management, or biomedical field, owing to its uniquecombination of physical and chemical properties. Nevertheless, it requires the production of very high quality diamond layers which can be limited crystallites. Indeed, these microstructures having different morphologies and orientations, they disrupt diamond growth uniformity andgenerate localized stress fields that degrade diamond properties [1]. Understanding the morphology and stress propagation associated with crystallites is thus essential forimproving the quality of CVD diamond. It is the main purpose of this study which focuses on the characterization of crystallite morphology and related stress fields. By varying growth parameters like CH4/H2 ratios, nitrogen concentrations, and growth temperatures, the conditions affecting the formation of crystallites will be identified and the direct impact stress distribution and overall film quality will be evaluated. In this aim, different samples will be prepared by laser cutting and polishing after growth in orderto obtain cross-sections with smooth surfaces suitable for the characterization of crystallites and the visualization of stresses propagation by birefringence as illustrated in Figure 1. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) will be also performed to analyze the size, shape, and spatial distribution of crystallites. Raman spectroscopy will be used to map the local stress fields around crystallites and determine zones of tensile or compressive stress [2]. Additionally, photoluminescence (PL) will be carried out to assess preliminary effects on nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers formation. These findings will provide a base-level understanding of crystallite-induced stress and its implication on diamond quality. This work will allow identifying growth conditions that promote orinhibit crystallite formation and developing strategies to minimize their impact on stress propagation, thus enabling the production of "quantum-grade" CVD diamond films.

    No full text
