    Ethnical Diversity in the Pilot Cadets Education: Study at Banyuwangi Indonesian Aviation Academy

    Pilot cadets take part in a series of education and training at an academy. Differences in the background of prospective cadets can affect the educational process and achievements achieved by the cadets. This study aims to analyze differences in the area of origin of the education and training outcomes of prospective pilot cadets. The study was conducted on 22 cadets of the Indonesian Aviation Academy Banyuwangi which were divided into 3 groups of regions of origin which generally had different levels of educational progress. The scores of the initial test results including the academic potential test, physical test and initial flight aptitude test were compared. Furthermore, comparisons were made for the initial flight aptitude test, flight aptitude test 1 and flight aptitude test 2. The results showed that education and training at the academy could improve the performance of the cadets but still resulted in achievement gaps due to their regional background. The results of the study can be used as a reference for the development of pilot education models. Further research can be done for deeper diversity or educational curriculum that is not yet optima

    Science Learning Materials in Integrated PBL Scientific Literacy Model to Improve Problem Solving Ability of Junior High School Students

    This research is motivated by the low ability of students to solve problems. This research aims to produce the validity of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model of science learning tools integrated with scientific literacy to improve the problem solving skills of class VIII junior high school students. The research method used is the development method with Four-D (4D) stages.The subjects of this study were validated learning tools including the syllabus, lesson plans (RPP), Student Worksheets, and problem-solving ability tests. While the object of this research is the level of validity of the learning device. The data analysis technique was carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner based on the assessment of three validators. The results of the validation by three validators concluded that the syllabus had an average score of 3.97 with valid criteria, the Learning Implementation Plan (RPP) had an average score of 3.84 with a valid category, Student Worksheet with an average score 3.70 in the valid category and the problem-solving ability test assessment instrument gets an average score of 3.60 in the valid category. Based on the results of this validity analysis, the learning materials developed was declared valid for use in learning. Thus the learning materials developed can be used as an alternative in improving the problem solving ability of students in their learning

    Profile of Mind Mapping Utilization in Learning During 2018-2022

    Mind mapping is an innovative learning strategy that has an impact on learning. This research aims to define and analyze the use of mind mapping in learning. This research is qualitative-descriptive with library research type. The results of the research show that the use of mind mapping not only has advantages, but also various disadvantages when used in learning. To minimize these weaknesses, this research reviews 20 journals (2018-2022) both nationally and those that have been selected through Google Scholar. The steps in reviewing the research literature are collecting journals/articles about mind mapping, reducing journals/articles for the last five years (2018-2022), analyzing the definition of mind mapping, synthesizing the opportunities and impacts of using mind mapping in learning, analyzing obstacles to mind mapping utilization in learning, and making conclusions. Based on library research, it is found that one way for teachers and students to maximize learning is by designing mind mapping with other learning models or tools. Another finding is that teachers can use various applications to make it easier for students to make mind maps. With this research, it is hoped that learning will be fun and improve students' thinking skills

    Research Analysis on Multi Representation in Physical Materials in The Year of 2014 to 2021

    This research has the goal of analyzing the research of multi representation capabilities in physical matter. This research is a literature study with bibliometric analysis. Secondary data collection of research using Publish or Perish (PoP) in the form of articles of the last six years (2014-2021) on Google Scholar and Scopus. The results of the analysis of 19 research articles were analyzed based on the number of studies each year, VOSViewer visualization, multi representation of measured abilities including problem-solving, understanding concepts, student activities. The highest number of publications in 2021 was 6 articles, in 2015, 2016 there was no VOSViewer Visualization obtained by three dominant clusters. There are seven articles linking multi representation capabilities to problem-solving abilities for a variety of physical materials. The application of multi representation to the understanding of concepts in some materials has been carried out in as many as seven studies. This research is expected to be the next research reference in analyzing the application of appropriate learning models to improve the multi representation ability of learners for various levels of education

    Development of Interactive Story Book For Ecoliteration Learning to Stimulate Reading Interest in Early Grade Students Elementary School

    Research aims to produce a storybook containing ecoliteracy education for elementary school students of good quality in terms of the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of a product. This type of research is Research and Development with the ADDIE model. The instruments used were validation questionnaires, observations, teacher response questionnaires and learning outcomes tests. The results of this study indicate that the validation of interactive storybooks for ecoliteracy learning gets an average coefficient of validation from the validator, which is very valid qualifications. The practicality of loading the teacher's response questionnaire gets a percentage of 97%, the results of teacher and student observations get a percentage of 91% and 94%. The effectiveness based on giving pretest and posttest to students amounted to 30 students in grade 1 and 30 students in grade 2 with an average pretest result of 74, while the average posttest was 90.8. The result indicates that there is a significant difference in the learning outcomes of early grade elementary school students using interactive story books. Based on the validation of the instrument and the recapitulation of the questionnaire filled in by the teacher, it can be stated that the quality of the interactive storybooks developed are very valid, practical and effective for use in learning. This interactive storybook can help early grade elementary school teachers in growing interest in reading related to ecoliteracy learning so that students' awareness of caring for and caring for the surrounding environment can be carried out from an early age

    Management and Recommendations of Nautical Simulators and Laboratory: Multiple-Site Case Study

    This study aims to manage laboratory management and nautical simulators at Marine Science Polytechnic of Semarang and Polytechnic of Surabaya. Methods This research uses a multi-status study (multiple-site case study) in two institutions. This study uses interview guide instruments, observation sheets, and a list of documentation studies. The results showed that the laboratory management of Marine Science Polytechnic of Semarang and Polytechnic of Surabaya  was said to be good. With qualifications in planning, supervising, managing, supervising laboratories and nautical simulators. Laboratory planning and nautical simulators at Marine Science Polytechnic of Semarang go through 4 (four) stages, the procurement preparation stage, the selection preparation stage, the selection implementation stage, and the contract implementation stage and handover of work results. Meanwhile, planning for laboratories and nautical simulators at Polytechnic of Surabaya  is divided into 2 (two), procurement of new goods and maintenance. The findings in this study are emphasized on the results of data collection through interviews and documentation sent by resource persons to researchers. And the conclusion of the study shows that the quality management of both marine Science Polytechnic of Semarang and Polytechnic of Surabaya has been running well according to the procedure

    Covid-19 Pandemic Risk Awareness Among Secondary School Students

    The Coronavirus outbreak proved to be one of the most transformative events in the modern period. This study objectives are to investigate whether difference exist between knowledge of covid-19 risk and; (i) not use of nose mask, (ii) not observe social distance and, (iii) whether difference exist between Muslim and Christianity on awareness of Covid-19 risk in the study area. The population of the study comprised all secondary school students in the study area. The study adopted a descriptive research design of survey type and multi-stage sampling technique was used to select 266 respondents participated in the study. The findings of the study revealed that, the students  have knowledge that no use of nose mask is a risk for contacting Covid-19  disease, students do not have knowledge that failure to observe social distance is a risk for contacting Covid-19  infection and there is no difference between Muslim and Christian students of their awareness on Covid-19 pandemic risk among secondary school students in the study area The researcher recommends among others that the Patigi local government educational authority should organize enlightenment programme for secondary school students that will educate them on the  activities that can put them at the risk of contacting Covid-19 infection which is harmful to their healt

    Electronic module (E-module) that is based on a problem-based learning science is a teaching material made by being operated online that is simple, flexible and independent, so as to facilitate students' critical ability to solve problems in everyday life and meet global challenges that can be accessed online through certain sites. The use of this E-module supports the digital literacy movement as one of the needs of the 21st century. One of the 21st century abilities that can be trained through the use of E-Modules is critical thinking. This study aims to determine students' critical thinking ability after using E-Modules based on “problem-based learning”. Method used is one shot case study. The results showed that 61.129% of students have very high critical thinking ability, 35.48% of students have high critical thinking ability, and 3.22% of students have moderate critical thinking ability.     Development STEM-Based Biotechnology Learning Tools to Practice Critical Thinking

    This study aims to describe the validity of learning tools in terms of several aspects such as content, language, and presentation. The method used in this research is to use a modified 4D (Define, Design, and Development), model and implemented in the Postgraduate Program for Science Education, State University of Surabaya. The data collection technique was carried out by the validation method. The assessment instrument uses a validation sheet. The tools developed are in the form of lesson plans, Student worksheet, and critical thinking ability tests. The validity of this STEM-based biotechnology learning tool is based on content feasibility, language feasibility, and presentation feasibility. Validity of STEM-based biotechnology learning tools were assessed by three validators consisting of two biology lecturers and one biology teacher. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively. The results of the validation of STEM-based biotechnology learning devices by three validators obtained an average score of 3.83 lesson plans, 3.67 Student worksheet, and 3.67 critical thinking ability test with a very valid category.     Students must have superior competencies to answer the demands of 21st century skills and the Industrial Revolution 4.0, one of which is creative thinking skills. The purpose of this study was to produce a Creative Attitude in Science Learning (CASL) learning model as a valid, practical, and effective product/product as an effort to improve creative thinking skills and positive attitudes towards PGSD Science students. The development research design used refers to the development model design according to McKenny, consisting of: (1) preliminary study phase, including needs analysis, literature study, and field survey; (2) the model design phase includes model design, validation, revision; and (3) the model testing phase. The research subjects were 3 classes of the Elementary School Teacher Education study program. The data collection method used a creative thinking skills test sheet. The data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the CASL model can be used to train the creative. thinking skills of elementary school teacher education students
