Investigating Academic Dishonesty among Undergraduate Students: Do Gender and Majors Matter?
Objective: The research aims to understand the extent of academic dishonesty among students in a faculty at a university in a developing country, defining the various types of dishonesty and pinpointing the factors that trigger such behavior; to formulate a profile of academic dishonesty as a guideline for the level of academic dishonesty in the faculty. The research involved subjects from eight departments, which had never been carried out by other researchers before. Method: Data were collected via a survey using a Google Form, employing the Academic Dishonesty instrument and tailored to the Indonesian context. This instrument, which consists of 23 items, covers six factors: cheating in examinations, plagiarism, outside help, prior cheating, falsification, and lying in academic assignments. Results: First, there is a significant difference in academic dishonesty scores between male and female groups, with a significance value of 0.019 (p < 0.05). Second, there is no significant difference in academic dishonesty scores based on majors between male and female groups, as indicated by the significance value of 0.060 (p > 0.05). The final conclusion is that there is no significant difference in academic dishonesty scores based on the interaction between gender and majors within each population group, as evidenced by the significance value of 0.331 (p > 0.05). This study contributes to filling a critical gap in the literature and offers valuable insights for developing targeted interventions across diverse educational contexts
Impact of Parent’s Communication on Adolescent Social Anxiety
Objective: Knowing the impact of parent’s communication and adolescent social anxiety. Method: The Research type is quantitative, using survey techniques with a teenage population. The sample size was 2135 junior high school students spread across 24 Cities and Districts in West Java. Data was collected for 1 month (October 1-31, 2024). Respondents filled out a Google form containing instruments about parental communication patterns (attitudes towards children's opinions, accepting criticism, involving children in decision-making, enforcing rules, etc) and social anxiety (fear of negative evaluation. social avoidance). Data analysis using Chi-Square and Pearson. Results: Most respondents were 14 years old and lived with their parents; their mother's education was junior high school, while their father's was high school. The position of the children was the first and last child. More than 10% of parents have authoritarian communication with adolescents, although most have democratic communication. There is a significant relationship between the age of respondents and the level of anxiety indicated by the results of the Pearson test with a P value of 0.032. In contrast, parental communication and adolescent social anxiety have a statistically significant relationship, indicated by a p-value of 0.01 using the chi-square test. Students' Motivation in the Implementation of Madrasah Library to Enhance Literacy Culture in Fiqh Subject
Objective: This study aims to explore the role of the madrasah library in promoting literacy culture within the Fiqh subject. The primary objective was to identify the challenges faced by students in engaging with literacy and develop strategies to enhance their reading, writing, and discussion skills through library resources. Method: A qualitative descriptive approach was used, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection methods. The data was analyzed thematically to identify key patterns related to literacy culture in Fiqh learning. Results: The findings indicate that students' low motivation to use the library significantly negatively impacted their literacy engagement. Several interventions were implemented to address this, including enhancing the library's physical environment, incorporating multimedia resources, offering incentives for active participation, and integrating literacy activities into Fiqh lessons. These interventions improved students' reading, writing, and discussion habits, encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and a deeper understanding of local wisdom. Novelty: This study introduces an innovative approach by embedding literacy culture within Islamic education through library-based initiatives targeted explicitly at Fiqh materials. Unlike previous research that viewed libraries as static information repositories, this study highlights their dynamic role in fostering literacy engagement. Analysis of Pre-service Teachers' Skills in Providing Feedback to Students During Field Experience Practice in School
Objective: This study investigates pre-service teachers' (PST) feedback skills during Field Experience Practice (FEP), identifies influencing factors, and examines their impact on student learning. Method: A mixed-methods approach was used, combining quantitative data from 42 PSTs and 57 teachers via questionnaires and qualitative insights from interviews, observations, and documentation. Descriptive statistics were employed to categorize feedback proficiency, while qualitative analysis explored contextual influences. Results: Findings reveal three levels of feedback skills—high, medium, and low—determined by internal factors (pedagogical understanding, teaching experience) and external factors (supervisor support, school environment). Effective feedback enhances student comprehension, motivation, and engagement, yet many PSTs struggle with providing structured, actionable feedback. Novelty: This study uniquely focuses on PSTs’ feedback skills during FEP, highlighting key factors influencing their effectiveness and the impact on student learning. It also provides evidence-based recommendations for strengthening teacher education curricula by integrating structured feedback training, ultimately improving classroom interactions and learning outcomes
Increase Self-Regulated Learning of Junior High School Students with the Experiential Seamless Learning Model
Objective: Study this to increase participants' self-regulated learning abilities and educate junior high school level through implementing the Experiential Seamless Learning model. Method: The research method used is the ADDIE development model proposed by Branch, involving 66 participants educated as subject research. Data was collected through a questionnaire to evaluate the eligibility product and test used to measure its effectiveness. Data analysis was done using a difference test (independent sample t-test). Results: The results of the study show that the Experiential Seamless Learning model, in a way, can significantly enhance participants' self-regulated learning education. Analysis indicates a significant difference between classes implementing this model and those using the learning method. The average value of self-regulated learning in classes using the Experiential Seamless Learning model is higher compared to class. Novelty: The novelty aspect of this study lies in the systematic integration between two learning models, experiential learning and seamless learning, which in previous studies were still applied separately. Another innovation of the Experiential Seamless Learning model is its use in improving self-regulated learning in the context of learning Indonesian at the junior high school level. The limitations of this study lie in the scope of the subject, which involved only two classes with a total of 66 students. In addition, the application of this model only covers seven of the ten dimensions of mobile seamless learning
Integrative Learning Models For Numeracy Literacy And Character Development: Insights From A Bibliometric Analysis
Objective: This research aims to map global trends in integrative learning models that combine numeracy literacy and character development, to provide in-depth insight into the contributions of existing research and the gaps that need to be addressed. Method: The method used is quantitative-based bibliometric analysis, with data collected from the Scopus database in the time period 2002–2024. Analysis was carried out using VOSviewer and R-Studio software to identify publication patterns, collaboration networks between authors and institutions, and dominant research themes. Results: The research results show a significant increase in related publications since 2016, with a peak in research activity in 2024. The main findings indicate that the topics of numeracy literacy and character development are increasingly gaining global attention, with the largest contributions coming from the fields of social sciences, computer science, and education. Co-occurrence analysis reveals that terms such as "e-learning," "digital literacy," and "project-based learning" are the main focus in the integration of numeracy literacy and character development. Novelty: The implication of this research is the need to develop evidence-based integrative learning models that can be adapted contextually to improve student learning outcomes holistically
Developing Board Game Media Based on Egrang Batok to Support Aksara Sunda Learning in PGSD
The objective of this study is to design and develop learning media in the form of a game board inspired by the traditional egrang batok game. The utilization of Egrang Batok media has been the subject of prior research; however, no studies have been conducted on Sundanese language content. The objective of this media is to facilitate the acquisition of Sundanese script by PGSD students. Following the observation that students encountered difficulties in comprehending and acquiring proficiency in Sundanese script through the utilization of visual media exclusively, the author endeavored to conceptualize a board game employing the principles of batok egrang as a medium for Sundanese script instruction. The present study employed the ADDIE development model, which comprises five stages: The following sequence of steps is imperative: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The findings of the research suggest that: The batok engrang board game medium has been determined to have a high level of validity, with an average score of 0.90 for content, 0.80 for media, and 0.8 for language, classified as sufficiently high. In terms of practicality, questionnaire results from teachers and students indicate that this medium is highly practical to use, with an average score of 95%. On the whole, the Egrang Batok-based board game is regarded as suitable and effective for use in learning activities at PGSD
Influence of Instructional Leadership and Academic Supervision on The Quality of Learning
Objective: This study examines the impact of instructional leadership and academic supervision on learning quality in junior high schools within the Boja District. Method: Employing a quantitative approach with a correlational design, the research involved a total population of 140 teachers, from which 104 were selected as the sample. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and hypothesis testing via simple and multiple linear regression. Result: The findings indicate that instructional leadership has a correlation of 0.820 and a significant influence of 77.2%, whereas academic supervision shows a correlation of 0.741 with a substantial impact of 64.9%. When examined together, these two factors enhance learning quality, with a coefficient of determination of 77.3%. These results highlight the crucial role of instructional leadership and academic supervision in improving educational outcomes. The study provides novel insights by reinforcing that strengthening these two aspects is a strategic measure for enhancing learning quality in junior high schools. This research contributes to the growing body of knowledge in educational leadership by emphasizing the importance of effective school management in fostering academic success. Novelty: The findings suggest that policymakers and school administrators should prioritize professional development programs that enhance leadership and supervision capacities, ensuring sustained improvements in teaching and learning processes
Keeping Teacher Professional Development Performance in Teaching: The Role of Interest Development in the Era of Technological Advance
Objective: This study examines teachers' professional performance in more depth through interest development in the era of technological advancement. Method: The research approach uses a mixed-method research design with an explanatory research method. The population of this study were teachers of Teacher Professional Education (TPE) at Halu Oleo University. The number of respondents in this study was 340 people. The data collection process used questionnaires, discussion forums, and documents. Results: The results of the study indicate that 1) the clarity and structure aspects require improvement in the ability to develop teaching that combines material content with relevant character values in the digital era, 2) the practical relevance aspect requires the development of teaching skills that combine student learning experiences with learning objectives, 3) the cognitive activation aspect has been carried out by teachers well through periodic teaching evaluations, and 4) the collaboration interest aspect needs to be improved so that the problems faced by each teacher have more varied input for resolution. From the findings, it can be concluded that the cognitive activation aspect of interest development has affected the quality of teacher teaching. However, interest development is essential in achieving educational quality because, in professional development, teachers make various efforts to improve their skills or competencies to carry out teaching tasks. Novelty: The findings show novelty that contributes to the understanding of knowledge about the interesting aspect of teacher development as the most important part of improving the quality of teaching. Two important points of novelty are self-reflection and self-competence. Improvement must be carried out by developing science and technology so that the teaching can utilize digital technology as a learning resource
The Influence of the Character-Oriented Rambu Solo’ Ceremony-Based Learning Model (Purso) on Improving Learning Outcomes in Civics Education
Objective: This study aims to investigate the effect of the Character-Oriented Rambu Solo’ Ceremony-Based Learning Model (PURSO) on students’ learning outcomes in Civics Education. The integration of local cultural values into character education is considered essential to fostering moral, social, and cognitive development among elementary school students. Method:This study adopts a quasi-experimental design using a "true experimental design" with a post-test-only control group. The population consisted of 28 students at an elementary school in Toraja Regency during the 2024/2025 academic year. Using simple random sampling, two groups were selected: an experimental group taught using the PURSO model and a control group taught through conventional methods. Data collection was conducted using post-tests and questionnaires. Statistical analysis included normality and homogeneity tests, independent sample t-tests, and mastery learning tests. Results: The findings of this study revealed a significant difference in learning outcomes between the experimental and control groups. Students who received instruction through the PURSO character-oriented learning model achieved higher post-test scores. In the experimental group, 25 out of 28 students (89.29%) met the Minimum Completeness Criteria (MCC), whereas only 18 out of 28 students (64.29%) in the control group achieved the same standard. The independent samples t-test yielded a t-value of 4.32 with a significance level of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). These results indicate that the implementation of the PURSO learning model has a significant and positive impact on improving students' learning outcomes in Civics Education. Novelty: This research introduces a novel learning model by incorporating the cultural values of the Rambu Solo’ funeral ceremony into formal Civics Education. Unlike conventional models, PURSO enhances not only academic achievement but also character formation, making learning more contextual and culturally responsive
