    Internalizing the Character Value of Caring for the Environment Through the Project to Strengthen the Profile of Pancasila Students in Elementary Schools

    Objective: Finding appropriate ways to internalize the character values ​​of caring for the environment in elementary schools through a project to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students in terms of civic behavior, skills, and attitude. Method: This research is mixed research with quasi-experiment, with a population of 500 students from 5 elementary schools and a sample of 128 students from 3 elementary schools. Results: The internalization of environmentally caring character values ​​carried out through the project to strengthen the Pancasila student profile in elementary school students is quite effective with the final score of the experimental class; Elementary School 1 Jampiroso scored 82.0% civic behavior, civic skill 80% and civic attitude 81.0%, while Elementary School 2 Jampiroso scored civic behavior 81.0%, civic skill 80.0% and civic attitude 80.0% and Elementary School Shekinah civic behavior 83.0%, civic skill 80.0% and civic attitude 82.0%. Novelty: This research is a study of further experimental development related to the development of civic behavior, skills, and attitudes in elementary school

    TOSLS Cognitive Instrument to Measure Students' Scientific Literacy Abilities

    Objective: This research is for the development of the TOSLS scientific literacy assessment instrument to determine the scientific literacy abilities of undergraduate science education students. Scientific literacy skills need to be known as a form of evaluation in learning. Scientific literacy skills are one of the abilities students must have after graduating from college and facing the work environment. Method: The quantitative method used in this research uses a Rasch model approach from 29 Bachelor of Science Education program students. Indicators of item suitability with Rasch model analysis measure this quality. The questions consist of 9 multiple choice questions with a correct score of 1 and an incorrect score of 0. Data processing uses MS Excel and SPSS 25 software. Results: The results show that all fit items, according to Rasch analysis, can be maintained without revision and used as a question instrument to measure the level of science literacy ability science for students with moderate scientific literacy abilities. Novelty: The research contribution of this question instrument can be used as reference material for evaluating the lecture process in biophysics courses on fermentation topics based on the level of scientific literacy ability

    Research aims to determine the role of teachers, physical aspects of motor skills, home visit activities for children, and the physical motor development of children aged 4-5 years during the Covid-19 pandemic through home visit activities at Alif Kindergarten Surabaya. This research is a descriptive qualitative research because it describes the phenomenon as it is, namely the description of the physical motor aspects of children aged 4-5 years at Alif Kindergarten Surabaya during the Covid-19 pandemic through home visits. The approach used in this research is a case study because this phenomenon is only centered in TK Alif Surabaya. Case study data can be obtained from all parties concerned, in other words in this study collected from various sources (Nawawi, 2003). The results of this study can be concluded that the teacher's home visit activity is one solution as an online learning support activity for children aged 4-5 years at Alif Kindergarten Surabaya. The development achievements of children aged 4-5 years at Alif Kindergarten Surabaya during teacher home visits during the Covid-19 pandemic are: 1) Children can imitate animal movements; 2) Write numbers, letters, hijaiyah; 3) Jump, 4) Playing with plasticine; 5) Movement and song; 6) Coloring, cutting, and pasting

    Teaching Materials of Cluster Blended-Based Learning on Reduction-Oxidation Reactions to Improve Students’ Scientific Literacy

    This study aims to describe the feasibility of teaching material (syllabus, Lesson Plans, Independent Learning Activity Unit and pretest-posttest question grid) of cluster-blended learning based on reduction oxidation reactions for grade X science high school chemistry learning. Validity, practicality and effectiveness were used to describe the teaching material’s feasibility. Data analysis of validity, practicality, and effectiveness results showed that. The teaching materials developed are eligible with a percentage of agreement more than 75%. Therefore, cluster-blended learning teaching materials are declared to meet the validity, practical, effectiveness criteria in high category. As implication, it is feasible to use as teaching materials of reduction oxidation reactions to improve students’ scientific literacy

    The Effectiveness of the Creative-Scientific Decision Making Skills (CSDMS) Model to Practice Creative Thinking Skills and Decision Making Skills

    This study aims to produce an effective Creative-Scientific Decision Making Skills (CSDMS) learning model that can be used in training students' creative thinking skills and decision-making skills. This study uses the One Group Pretest – Posttest design. Data were analyzed descriptively with pre-test and post-test data analysis using paired t-test in limited trials, and independent t-test in broad trials. It was concluded that the CSDMS model was declared valid both in terms of content validity and construct validity in order to improve students' creative thinking skills and decision-making skills. The results showed that the CSDMS model met the effective criteria in terms of the average n-gain of creative thinking skills in the high category and decision-making skills in the medium category, consistent with the average n-gain not significantly different in each university. It was concluded that the CSDMS model was found to be effective in improving students' creative thinking skills and decision-making skills

    Comparative Study of Student Learning Outcomes in Online and Offline Learning during the Pandemic

    Learning is carried out offline starting April 2022 after the COVID-19 pandemic began to subside and the statistics on COVID-19 cases in the city of Surabaya showed a low risk status. Learning that was originally done online was changed back to being done offline. Therefore, this study aims to identify differences in student learning outcomes in online and offline learning. This research is a quasi-experimental research with comparative method and quantitative approach. Research data was collected on macroeconomic theory courses in the even semester of the 2020/2021 academic year for online learning and the 2021/2022 school year for offline learning. The study population was 18 students who were randomly selected from the economic education study program in 2020 and 2021. Processing and analysis of research data used an independent sample T-test. Based on the results of the independent sample t-test, the Sig (two-sided) value is 0.356 > 0.05. These results indicate that there is no significant difference in the average student learning outcomes between online and offline learning. Students' online learning has an average learning outcome of 85.8889, higher than offline learning of 81.3333. Therefore, learning activities are more flexible during the pandemic and can be done online or offline

    How Thinking Routines Enhance Critical Thinking of Elementary Students

    Learning English as a foreign language within a primary school in Indonesia tends to be teacher-centered and focuses on the single correct answer. The demands of tests and covering textbook materials for tests prevent students from becoming active thinkers. Specific strategies have been proposed to promote critical thinking skills. Previous studies focused on applying thinking routines either in early childhood or higher education. This study examines the effect of thinking routines on sixth-grade elementary school students' critical thinking ability within an English lesson. The quasi-experimental research was conducted with 64 students divided into a control group (N=32) and an experimental group (N=32)  at two different schools. This research was conducted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The data is analyzed statistically using the Mann-Whitney U Test. Critical thinking ability tests and observation sheets were used as data collection tools. The results reveal that thinking routines significantly improved sixth-grade students' critical thinking skills. The result suggests using thinking routines in teaching and learning to support students thinking from different points of view

    Factors Influencing Students' Career Maturity in Vocational and General High School

    Career maturity is a continual process of development that demonstrates notably recognised attributes required for career advancement. However, internal and environmental variables determine career maturity. This study explores the aspects of career maturity in high school students by collecting the literature. The following criteria were used to choose articles for inclusion: 1) articles describing career maturity in general high school or vocational high school; 2) articles published in English or Indonesian; 3) entire passages in published works; 4) published during the previous ten years. Results mentioned students at vocational high schools typically have more components than students in general high schools. Social attachment, adversity intelligence, emotional intelligence, career interest, motivation, and career aspirations are maturity elements that show in vocational students. Meanwhile, self-determination, self-esteem, self-actualisation, self-confidence, and psychological well-being, on the other hand, are characteristics that impact the professional maturity of general high school students. Since most of these elements are internal to students, it is critical for general high school students to recognise self-reinforcement and self-understanding

    The Institute for Learning Development and Quality Assurance (LDQA) Universitas Negeri Surabaya (i.e Unesa) is one of the Unesa environmental organs that has the task and function of maintaining and improving the quality of Unesa learning and also as a reference for learning activities at related educational institutions. This research was conducted using a quantitative descriptive approach. The subjects of this research consist of 3 targets, namely: 1) General LDQA Management, 2) Learning Development Sector, and 3) Professional Development Sector. In this study, for the first and second problems, data were collected using documents, interviews and focus group discussions (FGD). The data obtained were analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that the roadmap for the Institute for Learning Development and Quality Assurance, for Professional Development for LDQA Unesa Educators and for Learning for LDQA Unesa has been prepared by accommodating the field of study which is the main task and function to answer the challenges of current and future learning needs. As for suggestions to improve achievement, it is necessary to increase cooperation with external parties who are institutionally closely related, namely dit.     Development of Story Books Containing MELESAT (Mathematics, Existence, Literacy, Engineering, Science, Art, Technology) to Improve Literacy Skills among Group B of Early Childhood Education

    The purpose of this study was to develop a storybook containing Mathematics, Existence, Literacy, Engineering, Science, Art, Technology (MELESAT) to improve literacy skills among group B of early childhood education and to test the feasibility of designing a storybook containing MELESAT. This type of research is a Research and Development with Pretest - Posttest One Group Design, using the ADDIE model which includes five stages, namely Analysis, Design, Develop, Implementation, and Evaluate.  Subjects are children aged 5-6 years, including group B early childhood education totally 20. The instrument used a validation questionnaire and literacy tests. Results of this research indicate that the validation of the material obtained 3.04 of 4, validation of book design obtained 2.55 of 4 and validation of the media obtained 2.89 of 4. The effectiveness based on giving pretest and posttest to students totaled 20 subjects. The results showed that the pre-test score of 57% was developing as expected, and 43% was starting to develop. Post-test scores showed 7.5% progressed beyond expectations, 87.5% progressed as expected, and 5% started to develop. Through the content, design, and use of MELESAT books, there is an increase of literacy skills of children aged 5-6 years including group B early childhood education
