    The Existence of The Mystique of The Protected Forest as A Form of Student Character Education Value

    Objective: The purpose of this study is to explore the protected forest mystique in Wonosalam, Jombang Regency, as a form of character education for students. The protected forest's myths promote personality development by incorporating moral principles, such as, patience, honesty, and sincerity into character education. The novelty of the research highlights local myths and traditions that are rich in spiritual, material, and moral qualities, which in turn help students develop their character and preserve their culture in the face of globalization. Method: Employed in this research is a qualitative approach, bolstered by data collection techniques such as interviews with the village head, recordings of stories, documentation of the surrounding environment and observation of Wonosalam village. The data analysis technique used is descriptive. The research focuses on the myth of the Wonosalam protected forest. Results: Analysis based on Niels Mulder's mystical theory and Imam Ghazali's character education concept show that the protected forest mystique has interrelated material, spiritual, and moral dimensions. These mystical stories contain moral values such as honesty, patience, and sincerity that are crucial for students' character education. By understanding these mystics, students can develop a balanced character and appreciate traditional values and local spirituality. Novelty: this research lies in the approach that integrates mysticism with Islamic value-based character education.     Developing a GeoGebra-Based Teaching Module on Quadrilateral Area and Perimeter to Enhance Seventh-Grade Students' Critical Thinking Skills

    Objective: Seventh-grade students often need help to grasp the concepts of area and perimeter, particularly when applied to real-world problems requiring critical thinking. This difficulty highlights a need for engaging and effective teaching resources beyond traditional methods. Method: This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model to design, develop, and evaluate a GeoGebra-based teaching module explicitly targeting the area and perimeter of quadrilaterals. The module, designed to foster critical thinking, underwent rigorous validation by media and material experts before being tested for practicality and effectiveness with seventh-grade students. Result: The GeoGebra-based teaching module was valid and practical, receiving high scores from expert evaluations and user feedback. More importantly, the module's implementation positively impacted students' critical thinking skills related to area and perimeter, as evidenced by significant improvement between their pre-intervention and post-intervention assessments. Novelty: This study provides valuable evidence for the efficacy of GeoGebra-based teaching modules in significantly improving critical thinking skills within a specific mathematical context.     Profile of Critical Thinking Results Analyzed from Facione Indicators and Gender of Learners

    Objective: This research aims to describe the results of students' critical thinking in three different junior high schools. This research was conducted using a quantitative descriptive method in which the data obtained were the results of the critical thinking of male and female Grade VIII students from three different junior high schools in Pamekasan, namely in the Tlanakan, Galis, and Larangan areas using thinking indicators. Fionce's Critical Thinking on Narcotics, Psychotropics, and Other Addictive Substances, Fionce's critical thinking indicators are as follows Interpretation, Analysis, Evaluation, Conclusion, Explanation, and Self-Regulation Methods: The method used in this study was to have students work on five critical thinking essay questions by taking random samples. Results: From the three junior high schools, a sample of 50 students was obtained, namely 25 male and 25 female students. After the students worked on the questions, the average male student scored 62.56, and the female student scored 65.28. Novelty: From the results obtained, it was found that the average score of female students was higher than that of male students from three different schools based on an analysis of the Fionce indicators where female students tended to give more detailed and thorough answers than male students. The second reason female students have higher critical thinking skills than male students is that the answers given by male students tend to be different from the topics in the questions given by the researcher

    Undergraduate Students’ Perception of Using Extensive Reading Strategy in Vocabulary Mastery

    Objective: Reading is one of the most essential skills in learning, especially in English learning. Technological sophistication that is developing rapidly in the 21st century requires students to be literate in order to be able to compete in critical thinking and receive the latest information. The program suitable for the conditions of students in this century is extensive reading, which offers reading for pleasure according to the level of students' abilities. Method: The type of approach used in this research is qualitative. Only fifteen undergraduate students have received an extensive reading course in the fifth semester to obtain optimal results. In collecting data using two instruments, namely questionnaires and interviews. Results:  The results shown in this research are that most undergraduate students have positive perceptions after receiving extensive reading course program activities, one of which is the addition of vocabulary that affects their reading motivation. Novelty: The results of this research encourage future researchers to dig up information about the effectiveness of using extensive reading in increasing vocabulary acquisition

    Objective: This study analyzes the effectiveness of discovery learning models integrated with Android. Method: The method used is the literature review method. A literature review is a type of research used to collect data and information from various references. This research analyzes 20 national and international articles that can be accounted for. The articles used are articles published in 2018-2023. The steps taken in this study are identifying topics, finding and selecting appropriate articles, analyzing and synthesizing literature, and concluding. Results: Based on the results of research and analysis, it can be supposed that (1) the application of the discovery learning model can improve students' scientific literacy; (2) The use of Android in learning can improve students' scientific literacy. Novelty: This research reveals that integrating discovery learning learning models with androids can improve students' scientific literacy.     A critical aspect of measuring judgment in the 21st century is scientific literacy. In addition to the scientific literacy aspect as part of the grade 21 skills assessment, there are other essential aspects, namely student problem-solving skills. Based on the articles collected, it can be concluded that to meet the necessities of life in various situations in the global era, Literacy ability is a fundamental thing that all students must own. The role of scientific literacy instruments is needed to measure students' science problem-solving abilities. Because scientific literacy is an individual's ability to identify, explain and conclude scientific evidence by using the ability to solve problems based on how to understand, plan, solve, and reassess. This can be seen from the many theories and teaching methods that support the results obtained from the forty-four journals reviewed.     Gender Pedagogy: A Feminist Approach to Teaching Sexist, Women Solidarity, and Power in the Patience Stone

    Objective: The study aims to examine what gender issues in the novel are learned and how those issues get responses from the students. Method: The data acquisition method in this study is selecting the author's narration, the monolog, and dialog in the novel, showing the gender issues based on bell hooks' perspective on sexist oppression, women's solidarity, and power and asking thirty-five students in the class of their response concerning the issues. Result: The result shows the students will learn that the unnamed female protagonist experiences sexist oppression, obtains women's solidarity from her aunt, exercises her power to resist her husband's cruelty, and compares the issues to the surrounding phenomena. Novelty: Some previous studies have analyzed gender inequality in The Patience Stone, gender pedagogy leading to building higher students' gender awareness by teaching gender through a novel has been rarely concerned. Hence, the study promotes teaching gender through The Patience Stone and another similar novel in higher education to build students' awareness concerning gender issues and invite their critical response towards gender problems in the novel and real life

    Development of Small Ball Game Learning Through Catch Ball Game to Enhance Motoric and Cognitive Skills In Elementary School Students

    Objective: This study aims to develop a small ball game model (in this case, a catch ball game) to determine students' motor and cognitive skills. The development of this small ball game model also aims to know students' cognition, such as cooperation, problem-solving, discussion, and critical thinking. Method: This study has a qualitative approach, using a checklist observation method to observe motor skills in throwing and catching a ball. In cognitive, students use the results of questionnaires and student interviews. Results:  The results obtained from this study on the motor skills of catching the ball were 80% of students with a total of 26 students in categories according to the age level of the development of ball catching skills. 20% fall into the category that needs to follow the age level of the development of ball-catching skills. For motor skills in throwing the ball, 80% of students enter the category according to the age level of the development of skills in throwing the ball. Furthermore, 20% of students in the category need to follow the age level of skills development in throwing the ball. For cognitive students, the catch ball game shows behavior during games such as cooperation, problem-solving, discussion, and critical thinking. Novelty: This research was conducted at PES Rampal Celaket 02 Malang City. The results of this study can also help physical education teachers, especially learning small ball material to improve students and cognitive skills of fourth-grade elementary school students

    Profile of Junior High School Students’ Scientific Literacy

    Objective: This research is a preliminary study that aims to describe the scientific literacy skills of junior high school students based on tests using questions with indicators of scientific literacy skills, according to PISA. Method: This research was quantitative descriptive analysis research that used 20 questions with indicators of scientific literacy skills to measure the level of students' scientific literacy skills. Data were collected using a purposive sampling technique to obtain a sample of 102 students from 3 schools in Banjarmasin. Findings: Based on the research results obtained from 102 students, 11 had scientific literacy skills at level 5 or with good criteria. Then, 29 students are at the level of scientific literacy skill level 4 with enough criteria. Furthermore, 37 students are at the level of scientific literacy skills level 3 with deficient criteria. Moreover, 25 students are still at the level of scientific literacy skills level 2 with low criteria. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to have follow-up efforts and more attention from related teachers to focus more on developing students' scientific literacy skills in the future. Novelty: The research novelty was to explain each level of scientific literacy ability that students reach. Hopefully, these things will be more helpful for further research, because the data that is presented is not just about the percentage of the quantity number.     Contribution of Self-Concept and Learning Independence to the Resilience of Students in Open University

    Objective: This study aims to examine cross-sectionally the correlation between self-concept and self-reliance to the resilience ability of the Distance Learning Program Unit-Open University students. Method: The method used is correlational with the quantitative approach with its measurement instrument using a questionnaire. The data analysis used is correlation analysis with parametric statistics. Results:  The results of this study show that the three variables have a significant positive correlation. The categories of self-concept and self-reliance of students are in the high category, while their resilience ability is in the medium category. Novelty:  Researchers hope this research will continue, so the following suggestion for the following researchers is to develop an approach in guidance and counseling to improve self-reliance and student resilience in remote lectures
