    Students’ Perception of Cultural Literacy Development in Higher Education

    Objective: This study investigated the EFL students' perceptions of cultural literacy development in higher education. Method: The research design was an ethnographic study. The study was conducted in two private and state universities in Indonesia. The subjects were students from the English education department at two universities. The researcher chose four students from each university as research subjects who know and understand more about cultural literacy development. The technique for analyzing data in the ethnographic study was descriptive labels, selecting, identifying, generalizing, and noting. Result: This study's findings showed that in higher education, two students have a high perception, one has a moderate, and the last one has a low perception of cultural literacy development in the academic context. Each student’s category generally has a different impact on the development of their cultural literacy in the academic context. Novelty: This study produces the Makugawene (harmonic) Cultural Literacy model to develop EFL students' cultural literacy in higher education

    E-Book on Ethno-conservation of Agricultural Land for Teaching Students' Critical Thinking Skills in Sidoarjo-Indonesia

    Objective: This research aims to test the effectiveness of an e-book on the ethno-conservation of agricultural land in Sidoarjo for teaching students critical thinking skills in environmental conservation material. Critical thinking ability is one of the higher-order thinking skills in Bloom's taxonomy and needs to be applied in the learning process. Critical thinking skills need to be trained in students to solve problems in their environment. Method: The method used in this study is a one-group pre-test and post-test design with 15 students from the science program. The e-book had already undergone feasibility and practicality tests before being implemented in the learning process. The effectiveness test consisted of 5 multiple-choice questions and six essay questions tested for feasibility. Data processing was done using Ms. Excel and SPSS. Results:  The Wilcoxon test results showed that using the e-book oriented towards the local wisdom values of Sidoarjo in environmental conservation material affects teaching students critical thinking skills. Novelty: The results of this research can be used as a reference for learning media integrated with local wisdom values to teach students critical thinking skills

    Scientific Literacy Profile of Prospective Science Teacher Students

    Objective: This research aims to describe and analyze the scientific literacy achievements of prospective science teacher students. Scientific literacy is one of the skills that prospective science teacher students must master to promote scientific literacy at the primary and secondary education levels. Method: This research is a quantitative descriptive research. Data was collected using a purposive sampling technique so that a sample of 65 students from the Bachelor of Science Education Study Program at Ganesha University of Education was obtained. The research instrument used was the Test of Scientific Literacy Skills (TOSLS) which consisted of 28 multiple-choice questions. This research is a preliminary study of research and development (R&D) of innovative science learning models to increase students' scientific literacy. Results: The results of the research show that the literacy achievement of prospective science teacher students is very low with the scientific literacy achievement in the aspect of identifying and assessing inquiry methods that contribute to scientific knowledge at very low and the aspect of compiling, analyzing, and understanding quantitative data and scientific information of very low. Novelty: This research provides an overview of the scientific literacy achievements of prospective science teacher students which can be used as a basis for developing innovative science learning models to increase the scientific literacy of prospective science teacher students

    The Impact of Servant Leadership, Supervision Competence, and Teacher Performance on School Quality

    Objective: This study examines the correlation between servant leadership, supervisory competency, and teacher performance in school quality. Method: The results of this investigation were confirmed by employing a statistical survey approach. The structural equation model's PLS-SEM method for prediction was used to generate the values of the latent variables. The research sample comprised nineteen principals and two hundred thirty-one elementary school teachers from the Ciwandan sub-district of Cilegon City in Banten Province. Results: Structural model statistical studies show a positive relationship between servant leadership and supervisory competence. Supervision competency and school quality are not positively correlated. Servant leadership is positively correlated with teacher performance, and teacher performance is positively correlated with school quality. Novelty: The novelty of this research is that there are differences in emphasis, research participants, and integration of research components compared to other research. This study introduces novel research integrating servant leadership, supervisory competency, and teacher performance in school quality. This innovative research integrates multiple variables into a single unit for investigation and analysis

    Profile of College Students' Academic Self-Control

    Objective: This study analyzes university students' academic self-control profiles in Surabaya City, Indonesia. Methods: The survey included the research method with a sample of 517 students. The data collection technique used a student response questionnaire. After that, quantitative descriptions were employed to assess the data and show the study outcomes. Results: The findings of the analysis demonstrate that students' academic self-control falls into the high range. Thus, students with good academic self-control will be able to control behavior consciously to choose goals, suppress urges, resist temptations, delay satisfaction, and control and regulate their emotions in academic goals. Novelty: The novel mapping of self-control focused on academics among university students makes this study innovative. Since academic procrastination is closely related to academic self-control, this mapping supports lecturers in reducing academic procrastination. Students can fully achieve academic and non-academic aims possible

    Analysis of Program Learning Outcome As A Result of Curriculum Evaluation In Higher Education

    Objective: One measure of achieving educational goals in higher education is the achievement of program learning outcomes (PLO). This learning achievement needs to be monitored and evaluated to develop the curriculum of the study program. This research aims to analyze the learning outcomes of undergraduate programs in building construction education. Method: This research is a type of evaluation research. The research subjects were all courses in The Undergraduate Program of Building Construction Education, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Data collection techniques used documentation and observation. Data analysis used quantitative descriptive techniques. Results:  The results of this study indicate that based on the evaluation of learning outcomes, several courses have yet to reach the achievement limit (below 75). Therefore, the study program needs to formulate actions that can be taken to improve this condition. The improvement plan is highly dependent on the study program's objectives, graduate users' needs, and each course's characteristics. Novelty: The novelty of this research is the differences in instruments, research subjects, time, and specific learning outcome programs in the building construction education study program

    Evaluating Language Curriculum Management in International Class Programs: A CIPP Model Perspective

    Objective: This research aims to evaluate the language aspects in the curriculum management for the International Class Program (ICP) at UIN Salatiga and UINSI Samarinda from an institutional perspective. It is qualitative research involving several informants, such as the ICP Directors, the Head of the Study Program, and the lecturers. Method: To gather the data, the researchers used observation, interview, and documentation. After collecting the data, the researchers perform analysis to answer research questions. In analyzing the result, the researchers refer to three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion (drawing/ verifying). Results:  The results of the evaluation in the curriculum management of the ICP are analyzed using the CIPP evaluation model assessment, which comprises Context Evaluation, Input Evaluation, Process Evaluation, and Product Evaluation. Novelty: Through this assessment model, the researchers can find the existing curriculum that can support the language learning aspects and the opportunities for the ICP management to improve the curriculum on language aspects of learning to achieve the expected outcome

    Optimizing Technical Entrepreneurship: Instrument Development for Assessing Technopreneurial Behavior Among Vocational High School Fashion Design Students

    Objective: Technopreneur behavior refers to the traits, attitudes, and actions of an individual or group involved in technology-based entrepreneurship. Technopreneur is a combination of the word’s "technology" and "entrepreneurship," and encompasses the application of technology and innovation in a business context. The purpose of this study is to develop an instrument that can measure the technopreneur behavior of Vocational High School Fashion School students. Method: This research is a development research with a 4D model, namely Define, Design, Development, and Development. Instrument was tested on 30 students of Vocational High School 3 Kediri.  Results: The results of the study stated that based on the CVR, correlation-total, OMS, and IMS criteria, there were 2 items that did not meet so that these items had to be revised or discarded, while other items were declared to meet the criteria. And the results of the instrument trial stated that 3.33% of students had techopreneur behavior in the "high distinction" category, 83.3% in the "Distinction" category, and 13.3% in the "Credit" category.  Novelty: This research presents novelty by designing a unique instrument that focuses on the technopreneur behavior of VHS Tata Busana students. This innovative approach includes the integration of technological and entrepreneurial aspects, active stakeholder participation, the application of revolutionary learning models, and adaptation to the latest technological developments

    Development of Instruments to Measure Automotive Electrical Competency

    Objective: Competence is an individual's ability to do a job adequately and appropriately. Competence is needed in the field of work. Future vehicles are currently heading towards electric-based vehicles. Therefore, graduates who have competence, especially in electricity, are needed. Valid and accurate measuring instruments are needed to determine a person's competence. Therefore, in this study, instruments were developed to measure student competence in automotive electricity. Method: The research method used is a development study using a 4D model consisting of four phases: Defining, Designing, Developing, and Disseminating. The finished instrument is validated and tested to see its validity and reliability. Results: This study obtained automotive electrical competency instruments in 3 instruments, namely to measure knowledge, skills, and attitudes. There is 1 question item that must be dropped because the CVR value and correlation test items are below 0.3, and the outfit and infit values are above 2. No question items are dropped for instruments, indicators, attitudes, and skills. All automotive electrical competency instruments produce reliable instruments. Novelty: a unique instrument that focuses on automotive electrical competence. This approach includes knowledge, skills, and attitudes towards technological developments

    Analysis of the Effectiveness of Pop-Up Book Media on Science Learning in Elementary Schools

    Objective: Science education in elementary schools provides basic scientific knowledge and skills and develops students' critical and creative thinking abilities. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using pop-up books as media in learning science in elementary schools. Method: In this study, researchers applied the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method using the Google Scholar database. The literature search focused on the initial keyword "learning media," restricted from 2019 to 2024, resulting in 86,200 articles. Furthermore, with the addition of the keyword "pop-up book," 4,120 articles were found. Then, adding the last keyword, "science in elementary school," resulted in 318 articles. From this number, data selection and eligibility tests were carried out to obtain suitable articles until 11 appropriate articles were obtained and by the literature review's objectives. Results:  Based on the study's results, it can be concluded that pop-up book media has proven effective in learning science in elementary schools. Novelty: For educators, engaging learning media in learning science is recommended to convey the learning material well and effectively, including pop-up books
