SARTRE’O BURTŲ LAZDELĖ. NIHILISTINĖ VAIZDUOTĖS LAISVĖ IR FENOMENOLOGIJA

Jau Husserlio svarstymuose apie fantaziją randame punktyriškų nuorodų į svarbų jos veikimo aspektą – sąmonę, kuri, sužadinta galimybių regėjimo, atveria nederminuotų pasaulių perspektyvą. Šį klausimą praplečia ir visa jėga išplėtoja Sartre’as. Sartre’s Magic Wand. Phenomenology and Nihilistic Freedom of ImaginationKristupas Sabolius SummaryIn Husserl’s writings on fantasy, one could already find references to an important aspect of its function, the one of the consciousness which, stimulated by the vision of its possibilities, opens the perspective of undetermined worlds. The latter topic is widely developed by Sartre. Imagination is the freedom of consciousness, this is the main idea of his Imaginaire. However, this freedom conceals a fundamental duplicity or even triplicity. As Sartre puts it, “the act of imagination is at the same time constituting, isolating and nihilating”. Consequently, the nihilistic and imaginary structure is identified in all the phases of consciousness as the essential definition of the relationship of human being to the world. To pose the world as the world or to nihilate (néantir) it is the same thing. In the description of L’être et le Néant, consciousness finds Nothingness in its own sight which constitutes horizons and covers things with halos. It means that Nothingness enters the world together with the sight and is supposed to be considered as an intentionality functioning according to the coordinating logics of imagination. Keywords: phenomenology, imagination, freedom, nihilism, Nothingness

Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari’s Micropolitics in the Context of Contemporary PhilosophyAudronė Žukauskaitė   SummaryThe article discusses Deleuze and Guattari’s concept of micropolitics in relation with the notions of minor literature and becoming-minoritarian. The concept of minor literature appears in Deleuze and Guattari’s Kafka: Toward a Minor Literature and is defined by three characteristics: 1) the deterritorialization of language; 2) the connection of the individual to a political immediacy; 3) the collective assemblage of enunciation. The notion of minor literature is closely related with the notion of becoming-minoritarian developed in A Thousand Plateaus. Deleuze and Guattari claim that becoming-minoritarian is the universal figure of consciousness. In this sense, any kind of becoming is a revolutionary act, because it changes the political constellation of power and enables the repressed to reach an autonomous condition. The concept of becoming-minoritarian is introduced to the contemporary political context through the notion of minor politics, discussed by Nicholas Thoburn. Minor politics is seen not as a fetishization of marginal identity but rather as a possibility to legitimize the existence of those who lack any social identity. In this sense, the notions of becoming-minoritarian and minor politics are contrasted with Alain Badiou’s claim to universality: the question is raised as to whether becoming-minoritarian should necessarily end in autonomy, as Deleuze and Guattari argue, or, by contrast, whether it should seek to universalize the minor and in this way raise the claim for universal justice. Keywords: micropolitics, minor literature, becoming-minoritiarian, the particular, universalism

The article analyzes the conceptions of Benedictus Spinoza and Gotfryd Leibniz, the authors who mostly influenced the ontology of becoming of Gilles Deleuze. The main object of this research is the first Deleuze’s publications about the traditional philosophers who became the basis for creating his original philosophy. The main thesis of this article is that Deleuze’s philosophy is incomprehensible without references to traditional philosophy because his concepts are a result of the transformation of old concepts. In the beginning of the article, the problem of Deleuze’s relationship with classical philosophers is considered: what kind of reasons and motives forced Deleuze to follow the history of philosophy and to choose the authors who avoid the tradition of philosophy? And what method was applied in reading these classical texts? Tyrimo atspirties tašku pasirinkti Deleuze’o veikalai, skirti analizuoti minėtiems autoriams, kuriais remdamasis Deleuze’as kūrė savo autorinę filosofiją. Straipsnyje remiamasi teze, jog Deleuze’o filosofija nesuvokiama be nuorodų į klasikinę filosofiją. &nbsp

    Parmenido mįslė

Parmenides of Elea is a Janus-faced historical personage; his only known treatise On Nature may be characterized as a fusion of heterogeneous elements or even direct opposites: here, vivid poetical metaphors are inextricably intertwined with the most abstract categories of “pure reason” (i.e. being and nonbeing), trivial truths – with irresolvable paradoxes; the so-called “Way of Opinion”, which runs through the sensible world, intertwines with the dialectical “Way of Truth” which leads to the ultimate reality. Are ambiguity and duality only accidental features of the poem? Traditionally, the doctrine of “being” is treated as a “content” which can be isolated from the “form” or “mode of expression.” The article shows that such methodological premise is far from being self-evident and unquestionable.

Inference to the best explanation (IBE) is considered to be the main means of discovery and justification of scientific hypotheses and theories. The article investigates this inference and its relationship to the main kinds of inference: deduction, induction and abduction. IBE has an abductive inference mechanism, but, contrary to abduction, infers not a possible, but a true conclusion. IBE is an inductive inference, because it is underdetermined by the rules of deduction and by evidence. The article claims that despite its abductive and inductive features which demonstrate that it is not and cannot be deductive inference, IBE nevertheless makes pretense to an absolute truth of its inference, i.e. claims for an almost deductive validity.

    Get PDF
On the Nature (of Philosophy)Skirmantas Jankauskas   SummaryThe paper deals with the genesis of Greek philosophy. The circumstances of the appearance of the first utterance in Greek philosophy and their impact upon its meaning are revealed. The traditional interpretation of the first utterances in the early Greek philosophy is attributed to Aristotle. The latter is said to have transferred Greek philosophizing totally into writing and subsequently to treat the first utterances as elements of writing. In the article, the suggestion is put forward that philosophizing did not begin as a writing but rather as a talking activity immersed in human activity in general. The specificity of philosophizing as constructive talking is related to the situation of reflection, caused by the imperative of the Seven Sages, namely by the imperative ‘Know thyself!”. It is shown here that the imperative introduces the difference between logos and cosmos, which is experienced by a Greek Sage as a loss of sincretic life. Philosophizing is then introduced as an activity of talking, provoked by the will to reestablish the original sincretic state. The author argues that because of syncretist skills, this activity is treated by early Greek philosophers as a way of partaking in cosmos. As reflection conveys a philosopher into the realm of theoretical thinking, partaking in cosmos is possible only as a way of thinking. Consequently, the difference between logos and cosmos in philosophizing resolves itself in the differences of cosmos. Nevertheless, the first philosophers still retained some hope for complete partaking in cosmos, and they gained the illusion of such a partaking by aesthetic experience of cosmos, which was attributed by Plato and Aristotle to wondering. Consequently, the first utterance of Greek philosophy is interpreted in this article as a kind of poetic discourse that refers to the activity of aesthetic partaking in cosmos. Keywords: writing, reason, reflection, cosmos, partaking, arche, the beautiful, truth, being
