    HEIDEGGERIS IR PLATONAS: TIESOS SAMPRATA

Šiuo straipsniu įsiterpiama į diskusiją Heideggerio ir Platono filosofijų santykio nustatymo klausimu. Straipsnyje trimis pagrindiniais argumentais parodoma, kad Platono dialogų korpuse galima aptikti tokią tiesos sampratą, kuri atitinka heidegeriškąją. Parodoma, pirma, kad tiek Platonas, tiek Heideggeris panašiai aptarė klaidingos kalbos genezę bei tokios kalbos reikšmę ne-tiesai; antra, kad tiek Platonas, tiek Heideggeris tiesą supranta kaip – Heideggerio terminu tariant – nepaslėptį su jai priklausančia paslėptimi; ir, trečia, kad Platono tekstuose galima aptikti vėlyvojo Heideggerio apmąstomų tiesos kaip nepaslėpties „galimybės sąlygų“ struktūrinius atitikmenis.Heidegger and Plato: The Concept of TruthTomas Nemunas Mickevičius SummaryThis article interferes into the discussion regarding the relationship between the philosophies of Heidegger and Plato. It argues for the thesis that in the corpus of Platonic dialogues it is possible to find a concept of truth which corresponds to the Heideggerian one. First, it is shown, that both Plato and Heidegger similarly describe the genesis of false language and it’s connectedness with un-truth. Secondly, it is shown that both Plato and Heidegger understand truth – to use a Heideggerian concept – as unconcealedness with concealednessbelonging to it. And finally, it is shown that in the works of Plato one can find structural equivalents of later Heidegger’s attempt to think over the “conditions of possibility” of truth as unconcealedness

THE AIM OF SCIENCE– KNOWLEDGE OR WISDOM

    Get PDF
The typical way to express the aim of science is to connect it with knowledge pursuit. This aim has been so strongly felt that sometimes typical scientific research has been called knowledge-inquiry. There is nothing wrong with knowledge as such. Especially when we have the knowledge of the highest quality, the scientific one, in mind. Still, science today should aim higher, surpass knowledge as its final goal and reach for wisdom. This brings about the need to implement wisdom-inquiry instead of knowledge-inquiry as Nicholas Maxwell has suggested. In order to succeed, the problems of living rather than the problems of knowledge have to be brought to the foreground. Keywords: Nicholas Maxwell, knowledge-inquiry, wisdom-inquiry, Rein Vihalemm, φ-scienceMokslo tikslas – žinojimas ar išmintisPeeter Müürsepp   SantraukaMokslo tikslas paprastai išreiškiamas siejant jį su žinojimo siekiu.

    Get PDF
Protagorean Relativism: An Analysis of the FragmentsSimas Čelutka SummaryThe article provides an analysis of Protagorean philosophy, concentrating on his famous homo mensura fragment. The examination is supported by significant philological clarifications, which eventually lead to the conclusion that ethico-political relativism does not follow from homo mensura fragment: only perceptual relativism logically follows. The argument goes on to show that Protagorean perceptual relativism may be understood both objectively and subjectively. The Heraclitean and Parmenidean influences upon Protagoras’ thought are also indicated. It is consequently shown how Plato and Aristotle misunderstood the central thesis of Protagoras, at the same time retrieving the homo mensura fragment from charges of self-refutation. It is also argued that Protagoras should not be called an “atheist”, but only a “subjective agnostic”

    E. LEVINAS IR ETINĖS FILOSOFIJOS ĮTEISINIMAS– ATSAKYMAS A. MICKŪNUI

    Get PDF
E. Levinas and Legitimization of Ethical Philosophy – an Answer to A. MickūnasJolanta Saldukaitytė   Abstract This article presents counter-arguments to Algis Mickūnas’s critique of Emmanuel Levinas’s ethical philosophy, delving into the question whether thinking based on radical exteriority can remain philosophy. First, Mickūnas argues that there is an erroneous speculation in Levinas’s phenomenology which leads out of philosophy into theology. Second, he argues that the ethical relation, central to Levinas’s thought, is but another ontological discourse of power. The present article shows that Mickūnas’s criticism comes from his concept of philosophy which is free from transcendence as well as Western metaphysics. The author argues that the specific notion of transcendence in Levinas is not the same as is found in speculative theology, which is concerned with God, but is rather the one required by the pursuit of phenomenological research of inter-subjectivity to its limits. The author also argues that the ethical metaphysics defended by Levinas is not the discourse of power nor does it reject Western philosophy. Rather, by recognizing the full significance of inter-subjectivity deeper ethical dimension of meaning is revealed, and hence Western philosophy is deepend and Levinas kept within the bounds of philosophy. BALTIJOS ŠALIŲ FILOSOFINIO DISKURSO POSOVIETINĖ TRANSFORMACIJA II

    Get PDF
Straipsnio antroje dalyje pateikiami, interpretuojami ir palyginami bibliometriniai duomenys apie Baltijos šalių filosofinių diskursų (1955–2011) apimtį, augimo tempą, probleminę ir konceptualinę struktūrą, filosofų bendrijos dydį ir jos pokyčius bei produktyvumą. Diskursų posovietiniai pokyčiai interpretuojami taikant posovietinės transformacijos keturių orientacijų (mimetinės, kontinuacinės, restitucinės ir inovacinės) schemą, kuri naudojama lyginamuosiuose istoriniuose sociologiniuose tyrimuose. Remiantis statistiniais duomenimis formuluojama keletas hipotetinių teiginių apie šių šalių filosofinių diskursų konsolidacijos, augimo tempų, kalbinės sudėties, posovietinės transformacijos skirtumų priežastis.Pagrindiniai žodžiai: Lietuva, Latvija, Estija, filosofinis diskursas, posovietinė transformacija, produktyvumas   The Post-Soviet Transformation of the Philosophical Discourse in Baltic Countries IIGintaras Kabelka   AbstractThe second part of this paper presents the interpretation of bibliometric data about the philosophical discourses in three Baltic countries (1955–2011) concerning the philosophical disciplines, branches, and authors of the texts. The scope, growth rate and productivity of these discourses during above mentioned period are explicated. The structural changes of the philosophical movements in three Baltic countries are explained and compared employing the scheme of orientations of post-soviet transformation (mimetic, continuational, restitutive, and innovative) used in historical and sociological comparative research. Several hypotheses about the consolidation, growth rate, and distinctions of post-soviet transformation of philosophical discourses are proposed. Keywords: Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, philosophical discourse, post-soviet transformation, productivit

HEIDEGERIŠKOJI ΟὐΣίΑ INTERPRETACIJA KAIP ATSAKAS Į BERGSONIŠKĄJĄ KLASIKINIO MĄSTYMO KRITIKĄ

    Get PDF
Heideggerian Construal of οὐσία as a Response to Bergsonian Critique of Classical ThoughtNerijus Stasiulis SummaryThe paper compares the Heideggerian and Bergsonian conceptions of isness, or time. The distinction between these affined non-mechanistic conceptions of time is assumed to be intrinsically linked to the different reflections on the relationship between matter and spirit as well as between the many and the one, and also to presuppose a different relationship to the Greek concept of essence. It seeks to demonstrate that, from the perspective of Heidegger’s thinking of Being, the Bergsonian vitalistic approach to isness reveals itself as a form of the forgetfulness of Being. Displaying the differences between Heidegger’s and Bergson’s conceptions of time allows to establish presumptions for explicating the Heideggerian construal of Aristotle’s conception of οὐσία, which can as well be called a response to Bergson‘s critique of classical philosophy
