Modal Sosial Penjual Jamu Keliling
Social capital is an important thing that includes several elements to achieve a certain goal. The application of elements existing in social capital is necessary in many sectors of human life, one of which is economic sector. The author, in this case, conducted a research related to the social capital in the life cycle of herbal medicine (jamu) peddlers. As known, herbal medicine is used not only in health world but also in beauty world. Seeing the time progress, Other traditional medicines, modern medicine, and science and technology sophistication exist to compete more stringently with the presence of herbal medicine. To anticipate this, the herbal medicine sellers need tips to maintain their herbal medicine business, through social capital. Problem statement in this research is related to the social capital created among the herbal medicine peddlers in Tuah Madani Sub District of Pekanbaru City. The subject of research consisted of 5 herbal medicinal peddlers with the following criteria: having sold herbal medicine for more than 10 years, selling through either carrying their product on their back or riding motor vehicle, native Javanese, and residing in Tuah Madani Sub District neighborhood. The technique of selecting informants used was purposive sampling one. The method used was descriptive qualitative research method. The theory applied in this research was Robert Putnam’s theory stating that there are three elements of social capital: network, trust, and norm. The result of research shows that informants create network, trust, and norm with the sellers of herbal medicine materials in traditional market, sales representative of sachet herbal medicine product, fellow herbal medicine peddlers, buyers, and third parties. The presence of network results in profitable customer relation and the presence of norm can direct the conduct and prevent the dispute in their herbal medicine business activity.    Â
Kebertahanan dan Implikasi Tradisi Sinoman Masyarakat Jawa dalam Penguatan Solidaritas Sosial dan Ekonomi Masyarakat Multikultural di Konawe Selatan
This research aims to reveal and to describe the continuation and implication of Javanese community’s sinoman tradition in strengthening social and economic solidarity of multicultural community in Wawoosu village of Konawe Selatan Sub District. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, a research aiming to describe in detail the phenomenon relevant to the objective of research. The result of research shows as follows. 1) Sinoman tradition is a tradition belonging to Javanese community that can exist and survive in multicultural society in Wawoosu and even this tradition becomes a shared tradition to all members of society and a space for expressing solidarity regardless different social status, race, political view, and religion. On the other hand, sinoman tradition also can survive because this tradition can be bequeathed hereditarily to all member of Wawoosu society through internal (family) and external (government’s intervention and show) inheritances. 2) This sinoman tradition has an implication to the strengthened social solidarity in multicultural society due to the shared cultural values of each ethnics living in Wawoosu village and shared challenge faced in the multicultural social-cultural reality and territorial condition. In addition, this tradition has an implication to the community’s strengthened economy because this implementation of tradition aims to relieve the burden of the people organizing sinoman tradition in the form of money, food staple, and other produces relevant to the rationale of sinoman tradition implementation
Analisis Mitigasi Perubahan Iklim Melalui Peran Adat Gella di Karampuang Sinjai
Forest and land use play a vital role in mitigating climate change. In Karampuang Hamlet, Sinjai Regency, South Sulawesi, customary community is under the supervision of Gella as the leader of custom who conserves their forest. This research aims to find out the role of Gella in maintaining forest environment and land based on the custom in mitigating climate change and how Gella makes policy related to climate change analyzed based on Fiedler’s Contingency Theory. This research used a qualitative approach with observation, in-depth interview, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) being the methods of collecting data. The result of research shows that Gella plays three main roles in maintaining forest environment and land: sustainable farming-based adaptation, and advocacy and collaboration. Viewed from Fiedler’s Contingency theory, Gella plays very strong role in Karampuang community and thereby can influence decision making in the attempt of mitigating climate change. The role can be seen from three elements: leader-follower relation, task structure, and position strength. This research concludes that Gella is an ideal type of leader in the attempt of mitigating climate change
Tradisi Papajar dan Tradisi Munggahan dalam Perspektif Sosio–Kultural Masyarakat Cianjur
Indonesia, with its multicultural society, has many traditions/cultures, including Muslims when the Holy Month of Ramadan comes. Muslims in each region have diverse traditions. This includes Cianjur people who have papajar and munggahan traditions. Papajar tradition is the one usually held today by going on excursions and eating together with the family to tourist attractions which is carried out one or two weeks before the month of Ramadan. Meanwhile, munggahan tradition is carried out in Cianjur community by gathering with family and relatives, botram or eating together, forgiving each other, praying, visiting graves which is done one or two days before the month of Ramadan. This research aims to understand values, beliefs and cultural practices underlying papajar and munggahan traditions. This research uses qualitative literature study methods from book, previous research and internet sources. What will be examined in this research are papajar tradition and munggahan tradition in welcoming the holy month of Ramadan from the socio-cultural perspective of the Cianjur community. The result of research shows that papajar and munggahan traditions are two of many traditions commonly carried out by Cianjur people, and in practice these two traditions essentially contain mutual cooperation, solidarity, tolerance, order and togetherness
Efektivitas Tradisi Kowea Tabako pada Masyarakat Wawonii di Desa Rawa Indah Kecamatan Wawonii Tengah Kabupaten Konawe Kepulauan
Kowea Tabako is a traditional oral invitation owned by the Wawonii community, which uses cigarettes as the medium for its implementation. Kowea Tabako interprets the Wawonii community as a form of appreciation for relatives who will be invited. The purpose of this study was to find out and describe the implementation of the Kowea Tabako tradition, and the effectiveness of Kowea Tabako in the Wawonii community in Rawa Indah Village, Central Wawonii District. Data collection was carried out using observation techniques and in-depth interviews. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive qualitative. This research shows that Kowea Tabako already existed during the Dingge (Kingdom) era. Kowea Tabako in the Wawonii Community has a unique process, in practice using objects such as cigarettes, and matches which are placed on a plate and wrapped in a handkerchief brought by the invitee to be served to the families who will be invited. Verbal invitations to use a cigarette (tobacco) as a symbol of appreciation, a match (ticks) as a symbol of blessing, a plate (kungfu) as a small traditional symbol, and a white handkerchief as a symbol of purity. so that the invited relatives feel heavy-hearted if they do not attend the event. Kowea Tabako serves to hide as well as invite families to attend an event. Kowea Tabako has a meaning as a form of appreciation and honor in inviting family, and the one who is given the mandate to bring Kowea Tabako is a man
Solidaritas Sosial Pengurus Persatuan Pedalangan Indonesia (Pepadi) Sultra di Kota Kendari
The Association of Indonesian Puppeters (PEPADI) Southeast Sulawesi is one of the Javanese arts organizations located in Southeast Sulawesi or in Kendari City, in this organization it is not only focused on Wayang Kulit art but also widens other affairs and uniquely when this organization runs, the solidarity is also wake up. This study aims to identify and describe the forms of social solidarity that exist in the PEPADI Sultra Management in Kendari City. The data collection technique used in this study is a field research technique using two methods, namely observation and interviews.This research was conducted using qualitative methods. The results of this study indicate that the forms of Social Solidarity that exist in the PEPADI Sultra Management are formed because of the similarity of taste, namely living together in overseas lands, by forming monthly social gatherings and also working together in weddings, thanksgiving and mourning not only that PEPADI Sultra also cooperation with the Javanese tribal community in the success of the Javanese cultural arts performance held in Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi. In maintaining this solidarity, the role of the chairman of PEPADI Sultra is to continue to protect its members so that they remain solid, and share the same fate, as well as the philosophy or way of life of the Javanese in their daily life
Moda Produksi Petani di Desa Lora Kecamatan Mata Oleo Kabupaten Bombana
This study aims to determine the use of farmer production tools and the form of farmer production relations in Lora Village, Mata Oleo District, Bombana Regency. The theory used refers to the theory of modes of production put forward by Karl Marx. The author uses ethnographic research methods through involved observation and in-depth interviews. As for the results of the study, it can be concluded that based on the results of research on the life of farmers in Lora Village, Mata Oleo District, Bombana Regency, it can be concluded that the farmers in Lora Village, Mata Oleo District, Bombana Regency still uphold the culture of mutual cooperation and competitiveness in helping each other. Most of the farmers in Lora Village still use traditional tools to support their activities in the rice fields, but as time goes by and technological advances are very influential, especially the tools used by farmers. The form of farmer production relations in Lora Village that is running well can be seen from the cooperation between farmers and owners of water pump machines, production owners and taxi vehicle owners. All of them collaborate and work together so that all work on rice fields can run smoothly and quickly and can produce maximum yields to be able to support food needs, especially in the Bombana Regency area

This research examines the role of the Tolaki Sultra customary institution in preserving the cultural values of the Tolaki tribe. This research reveals the problem of the role of customary institutions in preserving cultural values. This research focuses on the discussion of Tolaki, (1) What is the role of the Southeast Sulawesi customary institution (LAT) in preserving the cultural values of the Tolaki tribe. This research uses a qualitative method that aims to find out and explain the role of Southeast Sulawesi customary institutions (LAT) in preserving the cultural values of the Tolaki tribe with an ethnographic approach. This research was obtained through literature study, documentation, observation and interviews after data verification and starting with functional structure theory. Based on the field, it is known that the central board of the Tolaki customary institution (LAT) of Southeast Sulawesi, this research results in the existence of a customary institution (LAT) of Southeast Sulawesi in preserving the cultural values of the Tolaki tribe functions by preserving and developing the customs of the Tolaki tribe in activities that have been carried out one of them, preserving the mosehe wonua tradition, Tolea Pabitara training, training to recognize Kalosara, training in traditional marriage traditions, the process of implementing the Tolaki tribal cultural parade, then followed by the process of resolving Tolaki tribal customs are Omoapi (infidelity), elopement and conflict, the existence of the Tolaki Customary Institution in Southeast Sulawesi can run well
Kafurui Sebagai Pengobatan Alternatif Patah Tulang pada Masyarakat Muna di Desa Liangkabori
Kafurui (massage) is a traditional healing or health therapy method, by applying pressure to the body either in a structured, unstructured, sedentary or moving place by applying pressure and done manually.This study aims to find out and describe the reasons why people choose Kafurui as an alternative treatment for fractures and to find out the process carried out by shamans in treating fracture patients in Liangkabori Village.The data collection technique used in this research is field research technique using two methods, namely involved observation and in-depth interviews. The results of this study indicate that people choose Kafurui as an alternative treatment due to several factors, namely habit factors, economic factors, experience factors and easy-to-reach factors. The process of treating fracture patients depends on the type of fracture, the process of treating mild fractures, the shaman touches the broken part while saying two sentences of shahada after which the patient begins to be sequenced (kafurui). Severe fractures that are accompanied by wounds are not massaged at the beginning of treatment, but only blown with mantras, until the wounds begin to heal, then the sequencing process begins. The first step taken by the shaman is to reposition the bones or rearrange the bones that have been crushed so that they can return to their previous arrangement by sequencing. In this sugar cane fracture, since the patient came for treatment, the sequencing process has begun because there is no wound so that infection will not occur
Propaganda in Unthinkable Movie Script (A Discourse Analysis)
This study discusses the types and techniques of propaganda in Unthinkable movie scripts. The objective of the study is to describe how propaganda types and techniques are used in Unthinkable movie script. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method. The source of data in this study is the script of Unthinkable (2010) movie by Peter Woodward as primary data and an audiovisual movie as secondary data. The data are collected through downloading, reading the dialogue, watching, capturing, selecting, and coding the data based on Ellul\u27s (1965) and Lee & Lee\u27s (1972) theory of propaganda. Meanwhile, the techniques of the data analysis are presenting, describing, interpreting, and concluding the data. The results show that unthinkable movie has elements of propaganda to take implications for social problems, namely terrorism, and racism. The elements are types and techniques of propaganda. The writer finds agitation, integration, vertical, and horizontal types. These four types are indicated to spread incitement or hatred and instill the doctrine of terrorists against Muslims and bad character for Black people. Then, the writer finds techniques of propaganda, there are name-calling, glittering generality, transfer, plain folks, and card stacking. These five techniques are used to lead public opinion about Muslim and Black people that dangerous to American citizens by presenting bad facts for Muslims as Terrorists and Black people with cruel character by labeling them evil. Then the present fact can support America as the hero of society. The existences of these two elements show that Unthinkable movie contains propaganda
