URETHRAL OBSTRUCTION SECONDARY TO HYPERPLASIA OF SEMINAL VESICLE GLANDS IN AN INTACT MALE AFRICAN PYGMY HEDGEHOG (Atelerix albiventris)
A 4-year-old, male, intact African pygmy hedgehog was presented at the clinic with a 2-day history of weakness. Clinical examination revealed a large fluid-like mass, suspected to be the urinary bladder. The surveying ultrasound confirmed an enlarged urinary bladder with anechoic content and a small amount of floating echoic material. The patient was not able to urinate nor was it possible to place an urinary catheter. After three days he continued to be non-responding to any medical approach. The patient was prepared for explorative surgery, during which he collapsed and was declared deceased. The following autopsy revealed an extramural urethral obstruction caused by the enlarged seminal vesicle glands. The histology examination confirmed hyperplasia of the glandular epithelial cells, with focal squamous metaplasia. A focal mild perivascular inflammatory infiltrate was also present, formed mainly by lymphocytes and plasma cells with isolated macrophages and admixtures of eosinophilic granulocytes
COMPREHENSIVE STUDY OF THE DIGESTIVE TRACT IN THE EUROPEAN HAKE (Merluccius merluccius)
The European hake (Merluccius merluccius) is an important commercial fish that is widespread in the Adriatic Sea. It is a carnivorous fish whose diet consists mainly of fish. The aim of this study was to perform a detailed analysis of the digestive tract in the European hake. Therefore, the anatomy and histology of the posterior part of the digestive tract (from the esophagus to the rectum) were described. The fish were caught by longline fishing in the middle part of the Adriatic Sea along the Croatian coast. A total of 33 adult specimens were analyzed. Tissue components were visualized using hematoxylin-eosin, Mallory\u27s trichrome, Verhoeff-Van Gieson, Alcian Blue-PAS kit and a reticular fiber staining kit. To investigate cellular digestion, the localization and activity of alkaline phosphatase, acid phosphatase, non-specific esterase and aminopeptidase were measured. All parts of the digestive tract were composed of mucosa, submucosa, muscularis and serosa. The type of epithelium varied from part to part. The muscular layer of the mucosa was not identified in the esophagus, the intestine proper and the rectum. The muscularis consisted of smooth muscle cells, except in the esophagus, where it consisted of striated muscle fibers. All parts of the digestive tract are involved in the digestion and absorption of nutrients. Results observed from optical density of enzymes highlighted that although the intestine was the main site for lipid and protein digestion, the stomach and rectum were also important locations for protein digestion. Although the anatomy and histology of the digestive tract in European hake have been partially described, there is no data on the optical density of the enzymes in the available literature. To achieve objective results that allow for precise data comparison, the optical density of the enzymes was measured in this study. This research provide comprehensive findings and introduced new knowledge that significantly expands and partly differs from what is known so far, highlighting the necessity for further studies in this area.
Celostna študija prebavil evropskega osliča (Merluccius merluccius)
Izvleček: Evropski oslič (Merluccius merluccius) je pomembna komercialna riba, ki je razširjena v Jadranskem morju. Je mesojeda riba, ki se prehranjuje predvsem z ribami. Namen raziskave je bil opraviti podrobno analizo prebavil evropskega osliča, zato sta bili opisani anatomija in histologija prebavil (od požiralnika do danke). Ribe so bile ulovljene s parangalom v Jadranskem morju ob hrvaški obali. Skupaj je bilo analiziranih 33 odraslih osebkov. Komponente tkiva so bile vizualizirane z uporabo hematoksilin-eozina, Malloryjevega trihroma, Verhoeff-Van Giesona, kompleta Alcian Blue-PAS in kompleta za barvanje z mrežastimi vlakni. Da bi raziskali celično prebavo, smo izmerili lokalizacijo in aktivnost alkalne fosfataze, kisle fosfataze, nespecifične esteraze in aminopeptidaze. Vsi deli prebavnega trakta so sestavljeni iz sluznice, podsluznice, mišične plasti in seroze. Vrsta epitelija se razlikuje od dela do dela. V požiralniku, črevesu in danki nismo ugotovili mišične plasti sluznice. Mišična plast je sestavljena iz gladkih mišičnih celic, razen požiralnika, kjer jo tvorijo prečno progasta mišična vlakna. Vsi deli prebavnega trakta sodelujejo pri prebavi in absorpciji hranil. Glavno mesto za prebavo lipidov in beljakovin je sicer črevo, vendar sta želodec in danka prav tako pomembna za prebavo beljakovin. Čeprav sta anatomija in histologija prebavnega trakta pri evropskem osliču delno opisani, v razpoložljivi literaturi ni podatkov o optični gostoti encimov. Opisana raziskava, opravljena na 33 osebkih, prinaša izčrpne ugotovitve in nova spoznanja, ki bistveno razširjajo doslej znane in se delno razlikujejo od njih, ter poudarja potrebo po nadaljnjih študijah na tem področju.

Reading Practices of Generation Z in Slovenia: Between Physical Spaces and Digital Platforms
Namen: Namen prispevka je raziskati, kako se bralne prakse generacije Z v Sloveniji oblikujejo na presečišču fizičnih prostorov, kot so knjižnice in knjigarne, ter digitalnih platform, kot so družbena omrežja in bralne aplikacije. Prispevek analizira, kako ti različni prostori vplivajo na bralne izbire, navade ter oblikovanje bralne identitete mladih bralcev.
Metodologija/pristop: Raziskava temelji na spletni anketi, izvedeni med marcem in majem 2025, med študenti družboslovja in humanistike v Sloveniji, starimi od 18 do 25 let. Vprašalnik je vseboval zaprta in odprta vprašanja. Analiza se osredotoča na uporabo knjižnic in knjigarn ter vpliv digitalnih platform in družbenih omrežij na bralne izbire. Podatki so bili analizirani z deskriptivnimi statističnimi metodami.
Rezultati: Rezultati kažejo, da študenti družboslovnih in humanističnih smeri generacije Z knjižnice večinoma uporabljajo za študij, knjigarne pa obiskujejo zaradi estetske izkušnje in brskanja brez namena nakupa. Vpliv digitalnih platform in omrežij na bralne izbire je prisoten, vendar manjši od pričakovanj; odločilna so priporočila iz osebnega kroga. Presenetljivo nizka je tudi uporaba specializiranih bralnih aplikacij.
Omejitve raziskave: Vzorec je omejen na študente določenih študijskih področij, brez vključitve širše mladinske populacije. Raziskava bo v nadaljevanju dopolnjena s polstrukturiranimi intervjuji.
Izvirnost/uporabnost raziskave: Članek osvetljuje vlogo knjižnic in knjigarn v digitalni dobi ter ponuja vpogled v bralne navade generacije Z, ki združuje tradicionalne in nove medije v oblikovanju lastne bralne identitete.Purpose: The aim of this paper is to explore how the reading practices of Generation Z in Slovenia are shaped at the intersection of physical spaces—such as libraries and bookstores—and digital platforms, including social media and reading applications. The paper analyzes how these diverse environments influence reading choices, habits, and the formation of reading identity among young readers.
Methodology/approach: The research is based on an online survey conducted between March and May 2025 among social sciences and humanities students in Slovenia, aged 18 to 25. The questionnaire included both closed and open-ended questions. The analysis focuses on the use of libraries and bookstores, as well as the influence of digital platforms and social media on reading choices. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods.
Results: The results show that Generation Z students in the social sciences and humanities primarily use libraries for study purposes, while they visit bookstores for the aesthetic experience and browsing without the intention to purchase. The influence of digital platforms and social media on reading choices is present but smaller than expected; personal recommendations remain the key factor. The use of specialized reading apps is also surprisingly low.
Research limitation: The sample is limited to students in specific academic fields and does not represent the entire Generation Z population. Future research will include qualitative interviews.
Originality/practical implications: The article contributes to understanding how physical and digital spaces co-shape contemporary reading practices and identities among young adults in the context of cultural and technological change
Razširjenost in naravni vplivi pomembnejših virusov pšenice v Azerbajdžanu
Cereal viruses such as Wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV), Barley/Cereal yellow dwarf viruses (B/CYDV), and Wheat dwarf virus (WDV) often occur alongside other wheat pathogens, making it difficult to diagnose and manage these diseases effectively. To better understand the current situation with these important DNA and RNA viruses, we collected 157 wheat samples showing virus-like symptoms during the 2022–2024 growing seasons. The samples were taken from wheat-growing areas of Azerbaijan, including Absheron, Jalilabad, and Shamakhi, and were analyzed using ELISA and RT-PCR. During our field surveys, we observed potensial signs of viral infections, such as stunted growth, yellowing or streaking of leaves, and reduced grain yields. After extracting total RNA and DNA from the samples, we used specific primers to amplify regions of the viruses’ genomes. We successfully amplified DNA fragments of 404 bp, 178 bp, and 550 bp in 25, 39, and 44 samples infected with BYDV WSMV, and WDV respectively. These findings shed light on the prevalence of these viruses in Azerbaijan’s wheat fields and provide essential information for improving management strategies to protect wheat productivity.Virusna obolenja žit, kot so virus mozaika pšenice (Wheat streak mosaic virus, WSMV), virus rumene pritlikavosti ječmena/žit (Barley yellow dwarf viruses, BYDV) in virus pritlikavosti pšenice (Wheat dwarf virus, WDV), se pogosto pojavljajo skupaj z drugimi patogeni pšenice, kar otežuje natančno diagnostiko in učinkovito obvladovanje teh bolezni. Za boljše razumevanje trenutnega stanja teh pomembnih DNK in RNK virusov smo med rastnima sezonama 2022–2024 zbrali 157 vzorcev pšenice, ki so kazali simptome, podobne virusnim. Vzorce smo odvzeli iz območij pridelave pšenice v Azerbajdžanu, vključno z Absheronom, Jalilabadom in Šamakhi, ter jih analizirali z uporabo ELISA in RT-PCR. Med terenskimi pregledi smo opazili morebitne znake virusnih okužb, kot so zavrta rast, rumenenje ali progasto obarvanje listov ter zmanjšani pridelek zrn. Po ekstrakciji celotne RNK in DNK smo iz vzorcev s specifičnimi primernimi sekvencami namnožili dele genomov virusov. DNK fragmenti dolžine 404 bp, 178 bp in 550 bp so bili uspešno amplificirani v 25, 39 in 44 vzorcih, okuženih z BYDV, WSMV oziroma WDV. Ti rezultati nudijo nove vpoglede v razširjenost teh virusov na poljih pšenice po celotnem Azerbajdžanu in zagotavljajo ključne informacije za izboljšanje strategij upravljanja in zaščite pridelave pšenice
Ocenjevanje vpliva sezonske spremenljivosti na kakovost vode za namakanje in primernost za kmetijsko uporabo v vlažnih in sušnih razmerah
This study investigates the seasonal variation in water quality for irrigation from 57 wells in Sulaimani City, using two classification models: Ayers & Westcot (1985) and Maia & Rodrigues (2012). Key water parameters such as pH, Electrical Conductivity (EC), Sodium Adsorption Ratio (SAR), bicarbonates (HCO₃⁻), and (Cl⁻) concentrations were analyzed. Results showed that during the wet season, 45 wells had no restrictions (NR), while 12 had slight to moderate restrictions (S-MR). In the dry season, 29 wells were classified as NR and 28 as S-MR. Water quality was generally favorable for irrigation in the wet season but required management strategies for wells with higher EC and SAR, particularly in the dry season when salinity and ion concentrations increased. The Ayers & Westcot classification reflected seasonal variations in EC, SAR, and bicarbonates, with water quality declining slightly in the dry season, leading to more wells classified as S-MR. Using the Irrigation Water Quality Index by Maia & Rodrigues, some wells shifted from "Good" to "Excellent" in the dry season due to changes in EC levels. These results highlight the need for continuous water quality monitoring and adaptive irrigation management to optimize water use and prevent soil salinization in regions with seasonal variability.Študija je preučevala sezonske razlike v kakovosti vode za namakanje iz 57 vodnjakov v mestu Sulaimani z uporabo dveh klasifikacijskih modelov: Ayers & Westcot (1985) ter Maia & Rodrigues (2012). Analizirani so pH, električno prevodnost (EC), adsorpcijsko razmerje natrija (SAR), koncentracija bikarbonatov (HCO₃-) in klorida (Cl-). Rezultati so pokazali, da med deževno sezono 45 vodnjakov ni imelo omejitev (NR), 12 pa je imelo rahle do zmerne omejitve (S-MR). V sušnem obdobju je bilo 29 vodnjakov razvrščenih kot NR in 28 kot S-MR. Kakovost vode je bila na splošno ugodna za namakanje v deževnem obdobju, vendar so bile potrebne strategije upravljanja za vodnjake z večjima EC in SAR, zlasti v sušnem obdobju, ko sta se povečali slanost in koncentracija ionov. Klasifikacija Ayers & Westcot je odražala sezonska nihanja EC, SAR in bikarbonatov, pri čemer se je kakovost vode nekoliko zmanjšala v sušnem obdobju, zaradi česar je več vodnjakov razvrščenih kot S-MR. Z uporabo indeksa kakovosti vode za namakanje Maie & Rodriguesa so se nekateri vodnjaki v sušnem obdobju spremenili iz »dobrih« v »odlične« zaradi sprememb EC. Ti rezultati poudarjajo potrebo po stalnem spremljanju kakovosti vode in prilagodljivem upravljanju namakanja za optimizacijo rabe vode in preprečevanje zasoljevanja tal v regijah s sezonsko spremenljivostjo
Morfofiziološki in anatomski odzivi sadik hrasta plutovca (Quercus suber L.) v razmerah sušnega stresa
This study was performed to investigate the effects of drought stress on behavior of cork oak seedlings ( Quercus suber L) originatd from five different ecogeographical zones in Algeria ( Tlemcen, Oum Tboul, Jijel, Dradra, Tizi Ouzou). The resilts showed that drought stress affected both the height and collar diameter, relative growth in height and diameter of stems in provenances Oum Tboul, Tlemcen and Tizi Ouzou, also a decrease in leaf number and fresh and dry masses, shoot to root dry mass ratio and the relative water content for all stressed plants from all provenances. However, it has been noted a significant increase in length of the main root in all provenances. As well as a decrease in the total chlorophyll and carotenoids contents and increase in proline content especially in Tizi Ouzou and Tlemcen provenances under water limitation. Moreover, the anatomical study revealed a reduction in vessel diameter of rootsin all stressed plants from all provenances.
The five cork oak provenances studied showed different morpho-physiological and anatomical traits that could be linked to the environnemental conditions of provenances. Raziskava je bila izvedena za preučevanje vpliva sušnega stresa na sadike hrasta plutovca (Quercus suber L.) iz petih različnih ekološko-geografskih območij v Alžiriji (Tlemcen, Oum Tboul, Jijel, Dradra, Tizi Ouzou). 28-mesečne sadike so bile podvržene dvema vodnima režimoma: redno zalivanje trikrat na teden (nadzorovane sadike) in sušnim razmeram (sadike v stresu), z zadrževanjem zalivanja za 21 dni, poleti 2022. Sušni stres je opazno zaviral rastne lastnosti sadik plutovca, ki so imele znatno krajše poganke, manjši premer koreničnika, manjšo relativno višino in manjši premer debel pri proveniencah Oum Tboul, Tlemcen in Tizi Ouzou rastočih v stresnih razmerah v primerjavi s kontrolnimi. Zmanjšalo se je število listov, kot tudi sveža in suha masa ter relativna vsebnost vode v vseh proveniencah, medtem ko se je znatno povečala dolžina glavne korenine, razmerje med korenino in poganjkom. Zmanjšala se je skupna vsebnost klorofila in karotenoidov, znatno se je povečala vsebnost prolina, zlasti v proveniencah Tizi Ouzou in Tlemcen v razmerahsušnega stresa. Poleg tega so anatomske raziskave ugotovile anatomske prilagoditve korenin proti suši, kjer so bili premeri trahej veliko večji pri dobro zalivanih rastlinah v primerjavi z rastlinami s pomanjkanjem vode
Miti v biologiji: mnenja dijakov do cepljenja, podnebnih sprememb, gensko spremenjenih organizmov in evolucije
In scientific discourse, the term "myth" is used to describe widespread and demonstrably false beliefs that contradict the current scientific consensus. Due to insufficient biological knowledge and conceptual understanding, various biological myths can arise and persist in the information overload, ultimately influencing public opinion and societal dynamics. To effectively combat and prevent biological myths, it is essential to first understand their origin. The aim of this study was to investigate the opinions of Slovenian secondary school students towards certain biological myths and to explore the relationship between these opinions and students\u27 biological and scientific knowledge, self-assessment of their biological competence, and their interest in science subjects. The study focused on four biologically and socially significant areas included in the primary school curricula: vaccinations, climate change, genetically modified organisms, and evolution. Students with lower self-assessed biological knowledge or with lower grades in biology in lower secondary school were statistically significantly more likely to believe in myths related to climate change and evolution. Interest in science subjects was negatively correlated with scepticism about climate change. The national biology curricula show that climate change and evolution are among the most frequently covered topics, which may explain the associations between biological knowledge and myths. Students attending upper secondary schools with a limited number of science lessons, especially those in vocational education, were more prone to biological myths. The study highlights the critical role of formal biology education and interest in science in curbing the prevalence of biological myths. Given the rapid and complex advances in the natural sciences and their profound impact on daily life and societal development, there is an increasing potential for the emergence of biological myths. It is therefore crucial to ensure high-quality biological education at all levels of schooling.V znanosti izraz »mit« uporabljamo za označevanje razširjenih in nesporno napačnih prepričanj, ki nasprotujejo trenutno veljavni znanosti. Zaradi pomanjkljivega biološkega znanja in razumevanja lahko v poplavi vseh informacij nastajajo in obstojijo različni miti v biologiji, ki med drugim vplivajo tudi na družbeno dogajanje. Za uspešno odpravljanje in preprečevanje mitov v biologiji je sprva potrebno njihovo podrobnejše razumevanje. V raziskavi smo želeli ugotoviti, kakšna so mnenja slovenskih dijakov (N=376) do določenih mitov v biologiji ter povezave le teh z njihovim znanjem pri biologiji in naravoslovnih predmetih, lastno oceno biološkega znanja in zanimanjem za naravoslovne predmete. V raziskavi smo se osredotočili na štiri biološka področja, zastopana v učnih načrtih osnovnih šol, ki so družbeno pomembna - cepljenje, podnebne spremembe, gensko spremenjeni organizmi in evolucija. Dijaki, ki nižje ocenjujejo svoje znanje biologije ali so bili slabše ocenjeni pri predmetu biologija v osnovni šoli, statistično pomembno bolj verjamejo v mite o podnebnih spremembah in evoluciji. Zanimanje za naravoslovne predmete je v statistično pomembni negativni povezavi z nezaupanjem v podnebne spremembe. Pregled učnih načrtov za osnovno šolo v Sloveniji je potrdil, da sta podnebne spremembe in evolucija tudi zastopani z največ učnimi cilji med izpostavljenimi področji, kar bi lahko bil razlog za ugotovljene povezave med biološkim znanjem in miti. V srednjih šolah z manjšim obsegom ur naravoslovnih predmetov so dijaki bolj dovzetni za mite v biologiji, še posebej dijaki v vocational education. Raziskava je pokazala, da šolsko biološko znanje in zanimanje za naravoslovne predmete pomembno pri odpravljanju mitov v biologiji. Napredek v naravoslovnih znanosti je hiter in kompleksen ter pomembno vpliva na naš vsakdan in družbene spremembe. Hiter napredek in kompleksnost pa tudi povečuje možnosti pojava mitov v biologiji, zato je potrebno zagotavljati kakovostno biološko izobraževanje na vseh ravnem šolanja
Dodatne informacije o vodnih hroščih povodja gornje Neretve in reke Zalomke
As a follow-up to the investigation of the water beetle fauna of the upper course of the Neretva River in 2022, during the second »Neretva Science Week« in June 2023, additional tributaries were sampled and the presence of the endemic Bosnian species Hydraena bosnica has been confirmed (male specimens were collected). Additionally, three springs located at the slopes of the Neretva Valley were examined. Zalomka River exhibited an entirely different water beetle assemblage in comparison to that of the Neretva River and its tributaries, resulting from its intermittent character.Kot nadaljevanje raziskovanja favne vodnih hroščev zgornjega toka reke Neretve v letu 2022 smo na drugem »Tednu znanosti Neretva« junija 2023 vzorčili dodatne pritoke. Potrdili smo prisotnost bosanske endemične vrste Hydraena bosnica (moški osebki). Poleg tega smo povzorčili tri izvire na obronkih doline Neretve. Reka Zalomka ima popolnoma drugačno združbo vodnih hroščev kot Neretva s pritoki, kar je posledica njenega presihajočega značaja.
Apstrakt. Dodatne informacije o vodenim tvrdokrilcima sliva gornje Neretve i rijeke Zalomke – Kao nastavak istraživanja faune vodenih insekata gornjeg toka rijeke Neretve započetog 2022. godine, istraživanje je nastavljeno tokom Druge sedmice nauke (jun 2023. godine). Prikupljani su uzorci sa novih lokaliteta i potvrđeno je prisustvo bosanskohercegovačke endemske vrste Hydraena bosnica (muški primjerci). Uz to, prikupljeni su uzorci sa još tri izvora sa padina iznad rijeke Neretve. Rijeka Zalomka ima potpuno drugačiju zajednicu vodenih insekata od rijeke Neretve i njenih pritoka, što je rezultat njenog povremenog toka
Ponovno »Znanstveni teden Neretve« – ohranjanje zagona za varstveno misijo od reke do porečja v zgornji dolini reke Neretve, Bosna in Hercegovina
The Blue Heart of Europe campaign keeps publishing updates about the development of hydropower projects on the Balkan peninsula. It is one thing to see a map of thousands of threats to hundreds of rivers, but it is another thing to actually witness when one river gets lost before your eyes. In an act of stubbornness and unbroken optimism, despite ongoing construction of hydropower infrastructure for Ulog and Upper Horizon projects, the Blue Heart of Europe´s Scientists for Balkan Rivers Network once more organised a Science Week at the Neretva River. Between 30 May and 7 June 2023 almost 70 scientists and students from 17 countries and a once more diversified array of scientific disciplines joined forces to expand our knowledge on the biodiversity of the Neretva River catchment. Our mission was to document the biodiversity of the river, its hidden tributaries, underground rivers, mountain springs and the terrestrial valley sides. The 11 contributions published in this second special issue of Natura Sloveniae dedicated to the Neretva demonstrate once again the extraordinary biodiversity residing in this remote part of Europe. The many documented species encourage us to keep fighting for this exceptional natural heritage in spite of all difficulties.Kampanja »Blue Heart of Europe « še vedno objavlja novice o načrtovanih hidroenergetskih projektih na Balkanskem polotoku. Toda eno je videti zemljevid tisočerih groženj za stotine rek, drugo pa je dejansko spremljati izginotje reke z lastnimi očmi. Znanstveniki mreže Balkan Rivers Network so kot vztrajni in neomajni optimisti ponovno organizirali Znanstveni teden na reki Neretvi, ne glede na nadaljevanje gradnje hidroenergetske infrastrukture za projekte Ulog in Gornji Horizonti. V času od 30. 5. do 7. 6. 2023 se je skoraj 70 znanstvenikov in študentov iz 17 držav, in še enkrat toliko različnih disciplin, združilo, da bi izboljšali poznavanje biotske raznovrstnosti porečja reke Neretve. Naša naloga je bila dokumentirati biotsko raznovrstnost reke, njenih skritih pritokov, podzemnih rek, gorskih izvirov in kopenskih pobočij doline. Enajst prispevkov, objavljenih v pričujoči drugi posebni izdaji revije Natura Sloveniae, posvečeni reki Neretvi, ponovno osvetljuje izjemen zaklad biotske raznovrstnosti, ki se nahaja v tem oddaljenem delu Evrope. Številne dokumentirane vrste nas opominjajo, da moramo kljub vsem težavam nadaljevati boj za to edinstveno naravno dediščino.
Apstrakt – Ponovljena »Sedmica nauke na Neretvi« – održavanje zamaha za misiju zaštite prirode od rijeke do sliva u gornjem toku rijeke Neretve, Bosna i Hercegovina. Kampanja »Plavo srce Evrope« nastavlja objavljivati novosti o razvoju hidroenergetskih projekata na Balkanskom poluostrvu. Jedno je videti mapu sa hiljadama pretnji stotinama rijeka, ali je nešto sasvim drugo biti svjedok trenutka kada jedna rijeka nestaje pred vašim očima. U činu tvrdoglavosti i nepokolebljivog optimizma, uprkos izgradnji hidroenergetske infrastrukture za projekte »Ulog« i »Gornji horizonti«, mreža »Plavo srce Evrope-Naučnici za balkanske rijeke« ponovo je organizovala Sedmicu nauke na rijeci Neretvi. Od 30. 5. do 7. 6. 2023. godine, gotovo 70 naučnika i studenata iz 17 zemalja, uz još raznovrsniji spektar naučnih disciplina, udružilo je snage kako bi proširili istraživanje biodiverziteta sliva rijeke Neretve. Njihova misija bila je da dokumentuju biodiverzitet rijeke, njenih skrivenih pritoka, podzemnih tokova, planinskih izvora i obala. Jedanaest radova je objavljeno u ovom drugom specijalnom izdanju časopisa Natura Sloveniae, posvećenom Neretvi, te još jednom pokazuju kakvo izuzetno blago biodiverziteta postoji u ovom udaljenom evropskom području. Glossarerstellung im Zeitalter der KI: Zwischen bewusster Praxis und Technologischer Unterstützung in der Dolmetscherausbildung
Die Erstellung eines Glossars stellt einen zentralen Bestandteil der Vorbereitung auf die Dolmetschtätigkeit dar. Diese Praxis hat sich in jüngster Zeit durch das Aufkommen digitaler Tools und KIbasierter Ressourcen stark gewandelt. Der vorliegende Beitrag vertritt die These, dass die aktive und bewusste Glossarerstellung durch Studierende weiterhin ein unverzichtbares Element der Dolmetscherausbildung darstellt, zumal wegen der Entwicklung terminologischer Kompetenz und zum Zweck der Förderung des Langzeitgedächtnisses und der professionellen Selbstständigkeit. Ausgehend von einem theoretisch-didaktischen Ansatz werden drei Schwerpunkte behandelt: (i) die kognitiven Vorteile manueller Glossarerstellung, (ii) die Risiken einer vollständigen Automatisierung im Ausbildungsprozess und (iii) die Potenziale hybrider Ansätze unter Nutzung spezialisierter Tools wie InterpretBank und CymoNote. Der Beitrag schließt mit einigen didaktischen Überlegungen zur Integration digitaler Instrumente, die das aktive Lernen unterstützen, aber nicht ersetzen können.La creazione di un glossario è parte fondamentale della preparazione all\u27attività di interpretazione. Negli ultimi tempi questa pratica ha subito una profonda trasformazione grazie all\u27avvento degli strumenti digitali e delle risorse basate sull\u27intelligenza artificiale. Il presente contributo sostiene che la creazione attiva e consapevole di glossari da parte degli studenti continua a rappresentare un elemento indispensabile della formazione all\u27interpretazione, soprattutto per lo sviluppo delle competenze terminologiche, della memoria a lungo termine e l\u27autonomia professionale. Partendo da un approccio teorico-didattico, vengono trattati tre punti chiave: (i) i vantaggi cognitivi della creazione manuale di glossari, (ii) i rischi di una completa automazione nel processo formativo e (iii) il potenziale degli approcci ibridi che utilizzano strumenti creati appositamente per l\u27interpretazione come InterpretBank e CymoNote. Il contributo si conclude con alcune riflessioni didattiche sull\u27integrazione degli strumenti digitali, che possono supportare l\u27apprendimento attivo, senza però sostituirlo.The creation of a glossary constitutes a pivotal component in the preparatory process for interpreting work. This practice has undergone substantial modification in recent years, largely due to the emergence of digital tools and AI-based resources. This paper puts forward the argument that the active and conscious creation of glossaries by students remains an indispensable element of interpreter training, particularly with regard to the development of terminological competence and the promotion of longterm memory and professional independence. It is posited that, on the basis of a theoretical-didactic approach, three principal topics are addressed. The following aspects are to be considered: (i) the cognitive advantages of manual glossary creation, (ii) the risks of complete automation in the training process, and (iii) the potential of hybrid approaches using specialised tools such as InterpretBank and CymoNote. The paper concludes with some didactic considerations on the integration of digital tools that can support, but not replace, active learning.Izdelava glosarja je osrednji del priprave na tolmačenje. Ta način dela pa se je v zadnjem času močno spremenil zaradi vse bolj naprednih digitalnih orodij in virov, ki temeljijo na umetni inteligenci. Ta prispevek zagovarja tezo, da je aktivna in zavestna izdelava glosarjev za študente in študentke nepogrešljiv del izobraževanja bodočih tolmačev in tolmačk, zlasti zaradi razvoja terminoloških kompetenc spodbujanja dolgoročnega spomina in profesionalne samostojnosti. Na podlagi teoretično-didaktičnega pristopa v prispevku obravnavamo tri osrednje teme: (i) kognitivne prednosti ročnega sestavljanja glosarjev, (ii) tveganje popolne avtomatizacije v izobraževalnem procesu in (iii) potencial hibridnih pristopov z uporabo specializiranih orodij, kot sta InterpretBank in CymoNote. Zaključni del vsebuje nekaj didaktičnih razmišljanj o vključevanju digitalnih orodij, ki pa lahko aktivno učenje le podpirajo, vendar ga ne morejo nadomestiti
