Reading Difficulties of EFL Students: A Case Study of First-Year Student of English Language Education FKIP UIR
Student skill of Reading or understanding text considered as one of four fundamental language skills which means EFL student have to obtain a good level of reading. Actually, reading skill is not an easy skill to be mastered of, since still much students carried out with reading problem. The aim of this research is to examine reading difficulties that first-year student of English Language Education deal with, and to identify students reading problems and the reasons behind their weaknesses of reading assignment. This research used qualitative research method; it used to obtain data of reading comprehension difficulties faced by first year student of English Language Education FKIP UIR. As research instruments, it used questionnaire which contains of seventeen multiple types of questions which divided into four parts. The result of this research indicated that based on the analysis, first year students do not able on having fluent reading, because students currently deal with various reading difficulties. It can be concluded that Students have to be provided with appropriate teaching strategies depends on learning styles and students’ needs. Thus, the final product of this research is a book of reading for the first year students of English language Education of FKIP-UIR
The Exploration Of Need Analysis In English Language Teaching : Teaching Reading Skill: TEACHING READING SKILL
Needs analysis is generally believed to be important in ESP/EAP context because it enables practitioners and materials writers to find out about their real learners' needs. Therefore, the aim of the study is to explore the need analysis in teaching reading in English language teaching. Needs analysis has to be encouraged and leaners' needs has to be explored. Teacher has to be involved in doing the need analysis. The results demonstrate that EFL learners have difficulty in reading especially to comprehend the reading.

Prototype Media Interaktif untuk Menanamkan Nilai Pancasila untuk Anak Usia Dini
The purpose of this study was to produce a valid interactive media prototype for instilling Pancasila values in early childhood. This type of research is R&D with the Borg and Gall model with procedures for needs analysis, prototype design, development, and evaluation of implementation. Evaluation technique used with Tessmer evaluation. The data collection technique used a walkthrough which was assessed by the media validator and material validator. Based on the results of research from experts, namely material experts and media design experts with very valid categories with a feasibility percentage of 92.3% and 99.99% respectively, so that the product is valid in terms of visual media, audio media, aspects of typography, aspects of language, aspects of programming, aspects of presentation and feasibility of the content of Pancasila values. Low science learning is closely related to the disconnection of science education provided in classrooms with the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) requirements. As a result, curriculum development also plays a role, emphasizing the importance of scientific activities. Therefore, it is important to use effective teaching strategies to encourage and increase student participation in science learning, both individually and in groups. The inquiry approach to learning is one of these techniques. The Perceptions of Secondary School Students About Learning Activities from Home Affect Cognitive Learning Outcome in Natural Science Subject
Study aims to describe students' perceptions of learning activities from home that affect cognitive learning outcomes in natural science subjects in secondary school school. The research method used is quantitative ex post-facto correlation. The population and sample used were 8th grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Boarding School Tanggulangin Sidoarjo. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and documents. The data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative statistics with percentages and inferential statistics with product moment correlation test. The results of research on students' perceptions of learning activities from home obtained nine indicators, including 1) the effectiveness of learning from home was 72.2% in the fairly good category, 2) access to learning activities from home was 71.6% in the fairly good category, 3) assistance with learning from home at 70.6% in a fairly good category, 4) reactions to learning tasks from home at 48.4% with a bad category, 5) subject difficulties of 78.2% with a fairly good category, 6) learning material from home by 76% in the fairly good category, 7) learning media from home by 78.7% in the fairly good category, 8) evaluation of learning from home by 75.2% in the fairly good category, and 9) clarity of instructions by 76.6% with quite good category. The results of inferential statistical analysis show that students' perceptions of learning activities from home affect student learning outcomes in natural science subjects, as evidenced by the correlation coefficient value of 0.272 > 0.05. Future research is expected to be able to dig deeper into other factors that influence student learning outcomes in natural science subjects
Keterlibatan Orang Tua dalam Mengenalkan Sains untuk Anak Down Syndrome
This study describes parents' involvement in introducing science to children with down syndrome. This study used a qualitative approach. The research participants were 6 parents with Down syndrome children at 4-8 years old. The purposive sampling method was used to involve the participants. Data were collected through semi-structured online interviews. Analysis of the data in this study using Miles and Huberman. The results of this study show how parents introduce science activities by introducing science activities using simple methods, the media used by utilizing household appliances and objects in the surrounding environment. Parents consider science activities essential to be introduced to children. However, parents face challenges because children are difficult to manage, do not easily focus, and are easily bored
Error Analysis of Students’ Comment Writing in Online Learning at FLSP Class
Grammatical errors are one of the issues that students face during the writing process. The main goal of this research was to discover the most common grammatical errors committed by FLSP students in comment writing at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang in 2021. The goal of this study was to distinguish, categorize, and display the percentage of students that committed each sort of error. The research approach employed was qualitative and descriptive methods. This study included 30 first semester students as participants in the Communication (A), Accounting (B), Elementary School Teachers (D), Psychology (J), Engineering at FLSP class of UMM. Documentation of student comment writing debate was utilized as the tool. The Surface Strategy Taxonomy, developed by Dulay et al., is used to assess all grammatical mistakes found in student comments in Canvas (LMS). According to the findings, there are a total of 230 errors. The most common error was omission (120 errors / 52.18 percent), followed by misformation (70 errors / 30.43 percent), addition (30 errors / 13.14 percent), and misordering (10 errors / 4.38 percent). Based on these findings, it can be inferred that students continue to struggle with understanding grammatical structures throughout the writing process
The Difficulties and Anxiety Of 9th-Grade Students in Facing Final Exam During a Pandemic
This research aims to explain students’ difficulties in learning mathematics, the factors that cause learning difficulties, and student anxiety in facing school final exams during a pandemic and explain the design of a good mathematics learning system that should be carried out during a pandemic according to the results of this research. This research is descriptive qualitative research that was conducted in one of the junior high schools in the Tangerang district in 2021 with the research sample being 9th-grade students. For getting the data, this research used questionnaires, interviews, and documentation techniques. The result of this study found some of the main problems that happened to students in facing school final exams include students' unpreparedness for online learning, lack of interest in learning in students, lack of understanding of the material, feeling lazy to take part in online learning, difficulties in learning mathematics and the anxiety of students themselves in facing the final school exam. Making a good and comfortable learning system by paying more attention to the mental readiness of students and making teaching materials in the form of audio-visual or video can be one of the right solutions. In addition, face-to-face learning can provide motivation to students to increase their confidence. Thus, their anxiety in facing the final school exam can be overcome
Debaters perspective toward the use of Autonomous Learning
Research on the debatable topic of learning autonomy from the perspectives of the debaters is not quite new, however, further discussion is done by seeking the educational implications of autonomous learning used. Therefore, this study investigates the cases of three active debaters under the learning community in students' activity at University. The findings have focused more on how they subjectively position themselves during the learning process of becoming a good debater in the debating Community. First, they agree that the existence of mentors has created a significant difference in the growth and betterment of debater in the learning community. Second, assessment has a huge role to become the extrinsic exposure, the evaluative measurement, as well as raising up learning motivation. Third, during the learning process of becoming a good debater, autonomy can be seen as either individualistic or not depends on each individual to positioned the urge of learning
Indonesian Efl Students’ Perception Towards Online Learning: Voices From Freshmen
Covid-19 pandemic has inevitably shifted the conventional face-to-face learning in higher education institution to online learning. This study examined the perceptions of Indonesian EFL students, especially freshmen, towards online learning. Employing quantitative descriptive design with 83 respondents, this study focused on 3 aspects; 1) students’ perception, 2) students’ preferences, and 3) advantage and disadvantage of online learning based on students’ experience. The result showed that based on students’ perception 1) online learning is effective (53%, n = 44) to improve English proficiency, and somewhat effective (42.2%, n = 35) to improve social competences, 2) even though students’ enjoyment shows positive trends, they still prefer face-to-face learning (62.7%, n = 52) rather than online learning (37.3%, n = 31), and 3) the most frequent choose advantage of online learning is able to stay at home (79.5%, n = 66), while the most frequent disadvantage is less interaction with lecturers and classmates (74.7%, n = 62). This research has proven that the implementation of online learning earned numerous positive perceptions, followed with several challenges that need to be overcome by any means
