A Retrospective study on English teachers’ strategies to improve students’ writing skills
Writing is the act of conveying thoughts, facts, knowledge, or understanding for further study or to communicate and absorb certain information. Writing can be used to express art or beauty as well as words. Everything that is put into writing, including memories, folklore, and imagination, can then be integrated into a publishable narrative. Despite the fact that teachers in Indonesia have done a lot of research on writing skills, there is currently little literature on the writing tactics teachers use to help students develop their writing skills. The purpose of this study was to learn more about the tactics teachers use when teaching students in writing, including how to evaluate student progress. Qualitative data analysis approach is used to analyze research data. Specifically, collecting data, reducing it, analyzing it, and drawing conclusions. This study uses a qualitative methodology with a survey design. Ten English teachers from Medan participated in the study as participants. The findings show that instructors make extensive use of a variety of strategies, including exercises and writing assignments. Of the two, the teacher believed that practice was the most successful in helping students improve their writing skills. Studying a lot of things around can also affect it, such as remembering vocabulary around the environment and writing it down according to the existing reading provisions
The use of authentic material in English classroom teaching: Indonesian New Curriculum
The Indonesian current curriculum is derived as operational curriculum for school initiator (KOSP). In language learning, the KOSP focuses on the competences to use the language with six basic skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing, with addition Watching and presenting. “watching and presenting” skills is to accommodate the receptive skill from the video and productive skill through media content such as YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok etc. The KOSP uses genre-based approach in language teaching that emphasizes on the contextual applicable use of the language. with four main activities: Building knowledge of the text, Modelling of the text, Joint construction of the text and Independent construction of the text. In addition, this paper explores about the use of authentic material and its advantages in language learning classroom. Furthermore, the paper presented some example about the use of authentic material in implementing KOSP specifically for basic English in Junior and senior high school. The first authentic material is students’ photograph to teach recount text where the students tell about the photograph either in written and oral. The second authentic material is students’ realia to teach descriptive text
Character Development in Reading Folktales: Literacy Learning Strategies Using Propp’s Dramatis Personae and Narrative Functions in Princess Hase
This study intended to explore one of the literacy learning strategies namely character development in reading that can be used in the classroom by combining with Propp’s dramatis personae framework to get the deeper understanding about the folktales. This study involved the Japanese Folktale entitled Princess Hase as this story contains moral value that can be obtained by students after reading the folktales. This study used qualitative descriptive method which emphasizes on dramatis personae that exist in the folktales to get the deeper understanding. This study found out that the application of Propp’s dramatis personae in analyzing folktales can make the readers easier in understanding the folktales. Moreover, the combination of literacy learning strategies in this case character development in reading with Propp’s dramatis personae is beneficial to be applied in the classroom
Peran Kepala Madrasah dalam Pengembangan Kewirausahaan di MTs Nurul Huda Sedati
Kepala madrasah adalah pemegang kunci untuk keberlangsungan dan keberhasilan di madrasah. Kepala madrasah memiliki peran yang sangat kompleks dalam rangka mewujudkan visi dan misi serta tujuan dari madrasah yang dipimpinnya. Kompetensi Kewirausahaan adalah Kompetensi yang harus dimiliki oleh kepala madrasah, dimana dengan menguasai komptensi tersebut kepala madrasah akan mudah mengembangkan madrasah agar lebih efektif dan efisien. Penelitian ini termasuk kedalam penelitian kualitatif yang mana metode pengumpulan data nya menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Pada penelitian ini yang menjadi fokus pembahasan adalah Peran Kepala Madrasah dalam Pengembangan Kewirausahaan di MTs Nurul Huda Sedati. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tentang kompetensi kewirausahaan sebagai salah satu dari lima kompetensi yang harus dimiliki oleh seorang Kepala Madrasah. Hasil penelitian ini adalah kompetensi kewirausahaan Kepala Madrasah dalam meningkatkan daya saing madrasah meliputi kompetensi yang ada pada diri seorang wirausaha diantaranya mampu membaca peluang, kreatif dan inovatif, bekerja keras, memiliki motivasi, pantang menyerah dan memiliki naluri kewirausahaan
Developing OCEAN as a Game based on English Learning in teaching Vocabulary
Abstract This study applied Research and Development (R&D) study which developed game application based English learning. The purpose of this study is to improve the leaner’s vocabulary and reduce their anxiety in mastering English. Vocational maritime students had problem in memorizing vocabularies and based on the result of need analysis, they need a media that can ease them in learning English. This study followed some steps in developing the game application, those were; assessing need analysis, writing performance objective, instructional strategy’s development, instructional materials’ development and selection, implementation of formative and summative evaluation. The instrument of this study were questionnaire and interview to gain students response in need analysis process and in evaluation. OCEAN can catch the learner’s attention and decrease their anxiety in learning English. Most of students agree if the game improves their motivation and they can enjoy playing the game. The development of this game as an educational game has good impact and responses even though some improvements are needed

The method used in this study is a literature review. Literature review is the approach taken by the researchers in this study. One of the scientific methods used in a research that focuses on a particular topic. The literature review method used in this study has five stages or steps, but researchers only use four of them. Based on the findings from various experiments of each researcher, students who use learning video media have better science learning outcomes than students who do not use video media. . a number of supporting arguments that the use of video learning media in conjunction with learning activities will increase profitability because it will provide direct learning experiences to students and does not require a lot of teacher involvement.
 
ANALISIS KESULITAN DALAM PEMBELAJARAN ILMU PENGETAHUAN ALAM PADA MATERI SISTEM PENCERNAAN DI SMP NEGERI 22 SURABAYA
Indonesia is ranked 8 from below out of 70 countries for the scientific literacy category. This result is very far from several countries in Asean such as Singapore and Vietnam which managed to enter the top 10 rankings. Some of the causes of this are the focus of science learning which has not been centered on solving scientific literacy problems and only on factual knowledge and the second is the transition of science education teachers in junior high schools who previously taught the fields of Physics and Biology separately are now required to do science learning in an integrated manner. Learning in the classroom, not only in mastering the material. The essence of learning Natural Sciences is mastering the scientific method. The scientific method can be trained on students through practicum, so that learning Natural Sciences cannot be separated from practicum activities
Implementasi Blended Learning dalam Meningkatkan Kualitas Layanan Pembelajaran dan Prestasi Akademik Siswa di SMA Khadijah Surabaya
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dari inovasi dalam dunia pendidikan yang terus dilakukan dengan menyesuaikan perkembangan zaman sebagai upaya memberikan layanan terbaik dan pembelajaran yang lebih efektif bagi siswa. Pada era new normal pandemi covid-19 SMA Khadijah menerapkan Blended Learning, dengan memadukan pembelajaran tatap muka dan memanfaatkan teknologi dalam penyampaian materi, tugas dan penilaian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjawab fokus penelitian mengenai 1)implementasi Blended Learning di SMA Khadijah Surabaya, 2)kualitas layanan pembelajaran di SMA Khadijah Surabaya, 3)pretasi akademik siswa di SMA Khadijah Surabaya, 4) implementasi Blended Learning dalam meningkatkan kualitas layanan pembelajaran dan prestasi akademik siswa di SMA Khadijah Surabaya. Jenis penelitian skripsi ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif dan metode pengumpulan data observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa 1)implementasi Blended Learning di SMA Khadijah bertujuan untuk mempermudah kegiatan pembelajaran. 2)Layanan pembelajaran yang diberikan di SMA Khadijah memberikan gadget di awal masuk sekolah, memberikan pembinaan OSN, sertifikasi Cambridge, ICAS, UTBK, SBMPTN 3)Upaya yang dilakukan SMA Khadijah dalam meningkatkan prestasi akademik yaitu melakukan pembinaaan pada setiap rogram yang selalu dikuti antara lain ada sertifikasi Cambridge, OSN, ICAS. 4)Implementasi Blended Learning dalam meningkatkan kualitas layanan pembelajaran dan prestasi akademik siswa di SMA Khadijah Surabaya memberikan banyak manfaat.

Etnomatematika pada Kain Tenun Ikat Oba Agi Oba Pete dalam Masyarakat Nagekeo Nusa Tenggara Timur
The purpose of this study is to describe the ethnomathematics contained in the oba agi oba pete woven cloth and its buying and selling transactions in the Nagekeo community. This research is qualitative research with the type of ethnographic research. The subjects in this study were the Nagekeo people who work as weavers and sellers of woven woven fabrics. The results of the study found that the history of woven cloth is not known with certainty, there are flat wake concepts in the form of squares, rectangles, triangles, and rhombuses in the woven cloth motifs. In the buying and selling transactions of woven woven fabrics, the Nagekeo community used to use addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division strategies. The Nagekeo people in buying and selling transactions use the barter system. The community measures woven fabrics using fathoms and spans
Manajemen Pemasaran Pendidikan Sekolah Luar Biasa
Peningkatan jumlah anak disaability semakin meningkat setiap tahunnya. Sehingga kebutuhan Sekolah Luar Biasa diperlukan Lembaga sekolah yang mendukung hal ini. Bukan hal yang mudah untuk mengajak masyarakat agar mau menyekolahkan anak untuk bersekolah di Sekolah Luar Biasa. Terlihat dari jumlah disabilitas yang ada di Bengkalis ± 50% yang sekolah di Sekolah Luar Biasa. Oleh karena, itu dibutuhkan suatu strategi atau teknik tertentu dalam menarik minat masyarakat untuk memasukan atau menyekolahkan anak yang berkebutuhan khusus. Diantara berbagai macam strategi yang bisa digunakan oleh pihak pengelola adalah dengan melibatkan berbagai unsur yang menjadi acuan didalam melakukan strategi pemasaran yaitu product, price, place, promotion, people, pshycal evidence, process.
